The article focuses on the global burden of mental health disorders, especially in low- and middle-income countries (LAMICs), where stigma, delayed help-seeking, and a shortage of mental healthcare professionals contribute to suboptimal treatment and poor outcomes. It highlights the increasing mental health challenges exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic and explores the potential role of artificial intelligence (AI) as a solution to address the shortage of mental health professionals.
