Background Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the main pathological type of primary liver cancer (PLC) and is closely associated with Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. HCC in its early stages often presents no significant symptoms and is usually discovered at an advanced stage with liver, portal vein, or other site metastases, leading to a poor prognosis. Regular screening and early diagnosis in high-risk populations in the early stages of the disease are of great significance for clinical treatment and prognosis. Objective To explore the application value of oligosaccharides and alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) in the risk population and patients of HBV-related HCC, providing a reference for clinical diagnosis. Methods The study included 165 chronic HBV infection patients treated at the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University from January to November 2022, comprising 123 non-HCC and 42 HCC patients. Patient data (age, gender, cirrhosis status), laboratory indices[total bilirubin (TB), albumin (ALB), platelet count (PLT), AFP]were collected through electronic medical records, and a liver cancer risk prediction model score for chronic liver disease patients (aMAP score) was calculated, along with oligosaccharide marker test results (G-Test). HCC patients were classified as the HCC group (42 cases), and non-HCC patients were divided based on aMAP scores into low-risk (60 points, 39 cases) groups. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were plotted to analyze the efficacy of AFP, G-Test, and their combined diagnosis of HCC, calculating the area under the ROC curve (AUC), and the DeLong test was used to compare the differences between combined and single indicator AUCs. Kappa consistency tests were used to analyze the consistency of AFP and G-Test with clinical diagnostic results. This research aimed to evaluate the eradication efficacy, safety, and gastrointestinal symptom relief rates of empirical bismuth quadruple therapy, high-dose dual therapy, and resistance gene-based triple therapy in primary eradication patients in Yangzhou, China. It also investigated the possible factors influencing the success of different Helicobacter pylori eradication regimens. A single-center, prospective, open-label, randomized controlled study was performed from December 2020 and October 2021, in which 255 patients with H. pylori infection were assigned in a 1:1:1 ratio to the three different groups. Our results showed that high-dose dual therapy (91.0%, 71/78) and resistance gene-based triple therapy (94.9%, 75/79) achieved eradication rates and compliance equivalent to those of empirical bismuth quadruple therapy (85.3%, 64/75) in the per-protocol analysis, while high-dose dual therapy had lower rates of adverse events (11.5%, 9/78, P < 0.05), fewer side effects, and greater safety. Most patients’ gastrointestinal discomfort symptoms improved after eradication of H. pylori. Poor compliance (P < 0.05) and antibiotic resistance (P < 0.05) were risk factors for the efficacy of H. pylori eradication. Therefore, the appropriate regimen can be individualized for eradication therapy in clinical practice according to the patient’s resistance and tolerance to the drug.

Insulin-like-growth factor-1 (IGF-1) is the ligand for insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor (IGF-1R), and the roles of IGF-1/IGF-1R in diabetic nephropathy (DN) are well-characterized previously. However, the biological functions of AG1024 (an IGF-1R inhibitor) in DN remain unknown. This study investigates the roles and related mechanisms of AG-1024 in DN. The experimental DN was established via intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin, and STZ-induced diabetic rats were treated with AG1024 (20 mg/kg/day) for 8 weeks. The 24 h proteinuria, blood glucose level, serum creatinine, and blood urea nitrogen were measured for biochemical analyses. The increase in 24 h proteinuria, blood glucose level, serum creatinine, and blood urea of DN rats were conspicuously abated by AG1024. After biochemical analyses, the renal tissue specimens were collected, and as revealed by hematoxylin and eosin staining and Masson staining, AG-1024 mitigated typical renal damage and interstitial fibrosis in DN rats. Then, the anti-inflammatory effect of AG-1024 was assessed by western blotting and ELISA. Mechanistically, AG-1024 upregulated SOCS1 and SOCS3 expression and decreased phosphorylated JAK2, STAT1, and STAT3, as shown by western blotting. Collectively, AG-1024 (an IGF-1R inhibitor) ameliorates renal injury in experimental DN by attenuating renal inflammation and fibrosis via the SOCS/JAK2/STAT pathway.

ObjectiveTo investigate the prevalence and risk factors of injury among both primary and middle school students in Changning District， Shanghai， and to provide evidence for injury prevention.MethodsIn 2018， data of basic characteristics and injury-related factors were obtained through field questionnaire survey among the selected primary and middle schools （2 of each）.ResultsThe study finally included 1 821 students， with injury incidence rate of 30.1%. Among them， the injury incidence rate for the primary schools was 32.0%， and 28.8% for the middle schools. The top three injury types were falls， sharps injuries， and blunt injuries. Age， gender， myopia， and injury-related knowledge/behaviors were significantly related to injury incidence.ConclusionFalls should still be the priority of injury prevention for primary/middle school students in Changning District. The effect of reducing injuries can be achieved by improving health education about injury-related knowledge/behaviors.

Objective To study the clinical outcomes of implanting platelet rich fibrinogen (PRF) mixed with Bio-Oss® in the extraction socket for alveolar ridge preservation and to provide evidence for clinical application. Methods Thirty-six patients who underwent alveolar ridge preservation were enrolled. Thirty-six extraction sites were divided into two groups: PRF mixed with Bio-Oss® group (test group) and Bio-Oss® alone (control group). Bone dimensional changes in height and width were measured by CBCT before and 6 months after surgery, and early soft tissue healing and postoperative pain sensation were evaluated clinically 1 week after surgery. Results There was no significant difference in the alveolar bone height (-1.48 ± 0.40) mm between the test group and the control group. The difference in the alveolar bone width between the test group (-1.09 ± 0.42) mm and the control group (-1.35 ± 0.22) mm was statistically significant (z=-2.63, P=0.01). The postoperative pain score of the test group was 2.39 ± 1.20, and that of the control group was 3.39 ± 1.65, the difference was statistically significant (t=-2.083, P=0.045). There was no significant difference in soft tissue healing between the test group and the control group. Conclusion The use of PRF mixed with Bio-Oss ®in the alveolar ridge preservation procedure can reduce alveolar bone absorption and postoperative pain.

Objective To summarize the general characteristics and identification considerations of appraisal of post-traumatic epilepsy （PTE） in forensic clinical expertise. Methods Descriptive statistics were made on the general situations （age and sex）, injury sites, PTE grading, clinical manifestations and blood drug concentrations of 30 cases of PTE. Chi-square test was performed on the differences of sex composition, age group incidences, injury sites, clinical manifestations and PTE grading. Fisher’s exact probability method was used to test the differences in clinical manifestations and PTE grading of each site and the differences in PTE grading of different clinical manifestations. Results PTE occurred more frequently among 21 to 40 year olds, more in males than in females, and more frequently in the temporal lobe and frontal lobe. The clinical manifestations were mostly partial seizures and the PTE grading was mostly mild PTE. There were no statistical significance in the differences in distribution of clinical manifestations and PTE grading of injury sites （P>0.05）. The difference in the PTE grading of different clinical manifestations had no statistical significance （P>0.05）. The blood drug concentration of the three identified people did not reach the effective concentration, which affected the final identification opinion. Conclusion In the identification of PTE, in addition to strictly grasping the necessary factors of identification, such as the history of craniocerebral trauma, and epileptic seizures, it is also suggested that attention should be paid to the detection of blood drug concentration. Overall analysis and comprehensive evaluation should be made.

Seagrass meadows (Zostera marina) are important coastal ecosystems with high levels of productivity and biodiversity. They often have high biomass turnover and are susceptible to dislodgment, leading to export of biomass from seagrass beds. In September 2016, two cruises covering a total area of 52 km x 15 km (38°57'1.14"-39° 0'41.28" N, 118°45'23.22"-118°47'6.96" E) found floating Z. marina aggregations along 13 km of the transect in the northernmost area of Bohai Bay, in the Bohai Sea, China. This floating seagrass was 6.3-13.4 km northeast (offshore) of the Caofeidian seagrass bed, which is a large (10 km2) seagrass bed discovered in 2015 in the Bohai Sea, China. The modal length of floating intact shoots (from meristem to longest leaf tip) matched samples from the Caofeidian seagrass bed. The dominant individuals lengths were 40-50 cm, with less than 5% of the total number of individuals found in larger size categories (80-90 and 90-100 cm). We concluded that they originated from the nearby Caofeidian seagrass meadows.

The main challenges that marine heterogeneous data integration faces are the problem of accurate schema mapping between heterogeneous data sources. In order to improve the schema mapping efficiency and get more accurate learning results, this paper proposes a heterogeneous data schema mapping method basing on multianalyzer machine learning model. The multianalyzer analysis the learning results comprehensively, and a fuzzy comprehensive evaluation system is introduced for output results’ evaluation and multi factor quantitative judging. Finally, the data mapping comparison experiment on the East China Sea observing data confirms the effectiveness of the model and shows multianalyzer’s obvious improvement of mapping error rate.

Abstract Background Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) can be induced to differentiate into neuronal cells under appropriate cellular conditions and transplanted in brain injury and neurodegenerative diseases animal models for neuroregeneration studies. In contrast to the embryonic stem cells (ESCs), MSCs are easily subject to aging and senescence because of their finite ability of self-renewal. MSCs senescence seriously affected theirs application prospects as a promising tool for cell-based regenerative medicine and tissue engineering. In the present study, we established a reversible immortalized mesenchymal stem cells (IMSCs) line by using SSR#69 retrovirus expressing simian virus 40 large T (SV40T) antigen as an alternative to primary MSCs. Methods The retroviral vector SSR#69 expressing simian virus 40 large T (SV40T) antigen was used to construct IMSCs. IMSCs were identified by flow cytometry to detect cell surface makers. To investigate proliferation and differentiation potential of IMSCs, cell growth curve determination and mesodermal trilineage differentiation tests were performed. Neuronal differentiation characteristics of IMSCs were detected in vitro. Before IMSCs transplantation, we excluded its tumorigenicity in nude mice firstly. The Morris water maze tests and shuttle box tests were performed five weeks after HIBD models received cells transplantation therapy. Results In this study, reversible IMSCs were constructed successfully and had the similar morphology and cell surface makers as primary MSCs. IMSCs possessed better ability of proliferation and anti-senescence compared with primary MSCs, while maintained multilineage differentiation capacity. Neural-like cells derived from IMSCs had similar expressions of neural-specific genes, protein expression patterns and resting membrane potential (RMP) compared with their counterparts derived from primary MSCs. There was no bump formation in nude mice subcutaneously injected with IMSCs. IMSCs played same role as primary MSCs to improve learning ability and spatial memory of HIBD rats. Conclusions IMSCs not only retain their features of primary MSCs but also possess the ability of high proliferation and anti-senescence. IMSCs can definitely be induced to differentiate into neuronal cells in vitro and take the place of primary MSCs for cell transplantation therapy without tumorigenesis in vivo. The stable cell line is particularly useful and valuable as an alternative to MSCs in neuronal differentiation and neuroregeneration associated studies.

Abstract Background The differential diagnosis for hereditary ataxia encompasses a variety of diseases characterized by both autosomal dominant and recessive inheritance. There are no curative treatments available for these neurodegenerative conditions. This open label treatment study used human umbilical cord blood-derived mononuclear cells (CBMC) combined with rehabilitation training as potential disease modulators. Methods 30 patients suffering from hereditary ataxia were treated with CBMCs administered systemically by intravenous infusion and intrathecally by either cervical or lumbar puncture. Primary endpoint measures were the Berg Balance Scale (BBS), serum markers of immunoglobulin and T-cell subsets, measured at baseline and pre-determined times post-treatment. Results A reduction of pathological symptoms and signs was shown following treatment. The BBS scores, IgG, IgA, total T cells and CD3+CD4 T cells all improved significantly compared to pre-treatment values (P < 0.01~0.001). There were no adverse events. Conclusion The combination of CBMC infusion and rehabilitation training may be a safe and effective treatment for ataxia, which dramatically improves patients' functional symptoms. These data support expanded double blind, placebo-controlled studies for these treatment modalities.

Abstract Background The current paradigm for cord blood transplantation is that HLA matching and immune suppression are strictly required to prevent graft versus host disease (GVHD). Immunological arguments and historical examples have been made that the use of cord blood for non-hematopoietic activities such as growth factor production, stimulation of angiogenesis, and immune modulation may not require matching or immune suppression. Methods 114 patients suffering from non-hematopoietic degenerative conditions were treated with non-matched, allogeneic cord blood. Doses of 1-3 × 107 cord blood mononuclear cells per treatment, with 4-5 treatments both intrathecal and intravenously were performed. Adverse events and hematological, immunological, and biochemical parameters were analyzed for safety evaluation. Results No serious adverse effects were reported. Hematological, immunological, and biochemical parameters did not deviate from normal ranges as a result of therapy. Conclusion The current hematology-based paradigm of need for matching and immune suppression needs to be revisited when cord blood is used for non-hematopoietic regenerative purposes in immune competent recipients.

ObjectiveTo analyze the epidemiological characteristics of pathogens in foodborne disease cases in Haining City, Zhejiang Province, and to provide a basis for the prevention and investigation of foodborne diseases and outbreak events.MethodsInformation on foodborne disease patients from 2014 to 2023 was collected, and stool or anal swab samples were tested for relevant pathogens. The χ2 test was used to compare the differences in pathogen detection rates among different groups, and multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the risk factors for pathogen detection.ResultsA total of 5 814 samples were tested, with a positive detection rate of 15.36%. The detection rates were 4.95% for norovirus, 4.49% for Escherichia coli, 3.59% for Salmonella, 2.22% for Vibrio parahaemolyticus, and 0.11% for Shigella. The positive detection rates showed seasonal characteristics, with a minor peak in March-April dominated by norovirus and a major peak in July-September dominated by bacteria. The three groups with the highest detection rates were workers, white-collar workers and other groups. ObjectiveTo analyze the epidemiological features and influencing factors of rabies in Shanxi Province，and to provide evidence to further promote the elimination of rabies in Shanxi Province.MethodsThe incidence data of rabies in Shanxi from 2011 to 2022 were collected and subjected to descriptive analysis.ResultsFrom 2011 to 2022， a total of 348 rabies cases were reported in Shanxi Province， with an average annual incidence of 0.080 3/105. The incidence of rabies showed a downward trend overall. The highest incidence was in August. The cases were mainly farmers， mostly males， and most cases were reported between 50 and 69 years old. The data of cases showed that dogs were the main animals attacking human （93.96%）. The incubation period of most cases was 1‒3 months （37.37%）.The main exposure site was hand（51.33%）. Only 2.66% cases with grade Ⅲ exposure were injected with passive immune agents.ConclusionThe incidence of rabies in Shanxi Province continues to decrease， but there are still loopholes in prevention and control measures. It is necessary to strengthen the management and immunization of dogs，health education， and standardized procedures after exposure to maintain the achievements in the prevention and control of rabies.

ObjectiveTo understand the awareness of knowledge about chronic obstructive pulmonary disease （COPD） and influencing factors among residents in Yangpu District， Shanghai.MethodsWe used cluster random sampling method to conduct face-to-face questionnaire surveys on selected household residents in 12 streets of Yangpu District. The survey questions included their understanding of COPD name， lung function test， and COPD related knowledge. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the influencing factors of awareness rate.ResultsA total of 1 440 people were ultimately included in the analysis， and the awareness rates of COPD name， lung function test， and COPD awareness were 19.93%， 18.61%， and 14.95%， respectively. Among the people who knew the name of COPD， awareness rate of shortness of breath or dyspnea was the highest （84.12%） in the three main symptoms of COPD. Among the main risk factors of COPD， second-hand smoke（86.78%）and smoking （85.82%） were the highest. The main ways to obtain knowledge of COPD names were through television （12.60%） and the internet （11.97%）. The results of multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that men were significantly higher than women in the awareness of COPD name， lung function test， and COPD knowledge， with the OR values of （OR=1.39， 95%CI：1.08‒1.79）， （OR=1.47，95%CI：1.12‒1.92） and （OR=1.37，95%CI：1.02‒1.84）， respectively. The awareness rate of COPD names and lung function tests was the highest among people aged ≥ 65 years old， while the awareness rate of COPD knowledge was the highest among people aged 35‒50 years old. The awareness rate of COPD names was the highest among people with college education or above， civil servants， teachers， and medical staff， people with an annual household income of 100 000‒200 000 yuan.ConclusionThe overall awareness rate of COPD names， lung function tests， and COPD related knowledge among residents in Yangpu District is still at a low level. We should intensify the promotion and education of COPD among key groups such as women， young people， and those with low income， in order to improve the overall awareness rate of COPD among the population.

Sensory nerves belong to the afferent nerve part of the peripheral nervous system. Their role is to accept the stimuli inside and outside the body and transmit them to the center nerve system to form sensations or reflexes. Sensory nerve damage can be caused by trauma, tumor invasion, surgical injury, etc. Sensory nerve injury may cause decline or loss of some sensory organs function in patients. Damage of important sensory nerves such as optic nerves and auditory nerves can bring profound troubles to patients' lives. So far, the main clinical method to repair sensory nerves is autologous nerve transplantation. However, its application is limited by various factors, and the recovery effect of nerve function is often limited. Stem cells have the potential of multi-directional differentiation, which can differentiate into Schwann cells, and then secrete neurotrophic factors to promote axonal growth and myelin regeneration. Schwann cells directionally proliferate and form Büngner zones which guide nerve regeneration. Stem cells can also differentiate into neurons and construct nerve defect repair materials, which is an ideal choice for nerve repair. At present, the tissue engineering technology based on stem cells, combined with several key biotechnology, such as the use of biopolymerized or artificial surface micro-patterning nerve conduit to bridge nerve defects, and the use of microspheres to achieve the controlled release of extracellular matrix proteins and neurotrophic factors, is being widely studied and has achieved certain research results. This article reviews the research progress of stem cells in the repair of several major sensory nerves, such as optic nerves, olfactory nerves, cochlear nerves and sensory nerve fibers of sciatic nerve, expecting to provide a new perspective for neural repair of stem cells, broaden the preclinical research in nerve repair, and provide reference for follow-up clinical application.

Background Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a serious risk to the health and longevity of the elderly, and hypertension is closely related to CKD. However, the studies on the correlation of blood pressure levels with the development and progression of CKD in older adults have shown inconsistent results. Objective To explore the association between blood pressure levels and the risk of CKD among the elderly in longevity areas of China. Methods From October 2021 to May 2022, a total of 989 older adults who underwent physical examination with biomedical indicators collected in 2012 were selected as subjects based on the subcohort of the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey (CLHLS) -Healthy Aging and Biomarkers Cohort Study (HABCS) . Age, gender, height, weight, blood pressure, blood lipid, blood glucose, routine blood and urine indicators were collected at baseline, and follow-up monitoring was conducted in 2014. Cox proportional hazards regression model was used to analyze the association between the blood pressure levels and the risk of CKD. Results A total of 989 subjects were included in the study, with a median age of 79 (70, 88) years. The cumulative follow-up were 2 046 person-years, with an average follow-up time of (2.07±0.50) years. There were 183 new cases of CKD, the cumulative incidence of CKD was 18.5%〔95%CI (16.1%, 21.1%) 〕, and the incidence density was 89.4/1 000 person-years. During the follow-up, 9.8% (10/102) , 14.0% (47/335) and 22.8% (126/552) of the older adults in the normal blood pressure, high normal blood pressure and hypertension groups developed CKD, respectively, and the difference was statistically significant among the three groups (χ2=16.40, P

[Abstract]: [Objective]: To analyze the main syndrome types, medication rules, and core prescription characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in the treatment of metabolism-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD), and to predict the anti-MAFLD mechanism of core formula, so as to provide references for the clinical application of TCM and the development of new drugs. [Methods]: Literature research on TCM in treating MAFLD was retrieved from China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), China Science and Technology Journal Database (VIP), and Wanfang Database since the establishment of the database to July 2022. Excel 2019 and Chinese Medicine Inheritance Computing Platform (V3.0) were used for frequency analysis, association rule analysis, and cluster analysis of effective prescriptions. The key components, targets, and action pathways of anti-MAFLD core formulas were predicted by network pharmacology. Finally, the interactions between the obtained core components and their core targets were verified reversely by molecular docking technology. [Results]: A total of 218 articles were screened and selected, including 352 prescriptions, involving 270 traditional Chinese herbs. The drugs were used a total of 3 901 times, and a total of 10 915 cases were collected, among which the prevalence rate was higher in males. The main types of TCM syndrome included intermingled phlegm and blood stasis syndrome, liver depression and spleen deficiency syndrome, and damp-heat in liver and gallbladder syndrome, among which Shanzha (Crataegi Fructus), Danshen (Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Fuling (Poria), Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), and Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) were the most frequently used. The properties of Chinese medicine primarily encompassed thermal characteristics, with a predominant emphasis on cold and warm; the flavors of herbs were predominantly characterized by bitterness and sweetness, while the majority exhibited tropism towards the spleen and liver meridians. The drugs were primarily classified based on their efficacy in tonifying deficiencies, promoting diuresis and moistening, enhancing blood circulation and removing blood stasis, heat-clearing, etc. The association rules were employed to derive a set of 20 core drug pairs, while cluster analysis was utilized to identify three distinct groups of core drug combinations. Network pharmacological showed that the main components of the core formula “Shanzha (Crataegi Fructus) - Danshen (Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) - Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma) - Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix) - Fuling (Poria)” in the treatment of MAFLD were quercetin, apigenin, puerarin, luteolin, ursolic acid, kaempferol, tanshinone IIA, emodin, paeonol, etc., which involved RAC-alpha serine/threonine-protein kinase 1 (AKT1), cellular tumor antigen p53 (TP53), interleukin (IL)-6, IL-1β, signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3), epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), peroxisome proliferative activated receptor gamma (PPARG), and other key targets. The molecular docking results showed that the core components had good binding to lipid and atherosclerosis, and phosphatidylinositol 3 kinase (PI3K)/AKT signaling pathway-associated proteins. [Conclusion]: The main principles of TCM for the treatment of MAFLD involve soothing the liver and strengthening the spleen, eliminating phlegm and dampness, clearing heat and dampness, as well as promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis. The core formula may exert anti-MAFLD effects mediated through multiple components, targets, and signaling pathways. This study establishes a theoretical foundation for the clinical application of TCM in the treatment of MAFLD, and serves as a reference for further exploration of new drugs against MAFLD.

Persistent genital arousal disorder (PGAD) and genito-pelvic dysesthesia (GPD) are jointly known as PGAD/GPD, which is a newly discovered condition in recent years, featured by spontaneous or secondary persistent genital arousal and/or dysesthesia in the genital and pelvic areas. PGAD/GPD mainly affects women, which can seriously influence the physical and mental health of the sufferers due to the specificity of its symptoms. Most patients have anxiety, depression, and even the suicidal tendency. The medical community abroad has paid attention to PGAD/GPD, and included it in the International Classification of Diseases-11th Revision (ICD-11) . Given the fact that this newly discovered condition is under-recognized among domestic health providers at present, we summarized the current research on PGAD/GPD abroad and introduced the epidemiological characteristics, pathophysiological mechanisms, diagnosis and treatment methods of PGAD/GPD based on the review of the latest expert consensus of the International Society for the Study of Women's Sexual Health (ISSWSH) , and discussed the future research direction of PGAD/GPD and the coping strategies that should be taken by the domestic medical community, with a view to arousing medical workers' attention to the disease in China.

Ulcerative colitis (UC) is an inflammatory bowel disease and associated with metabolic imbalance. Luteolin (LUT) reportedly exhibits anti-inflammatory activity. However, its regulatory effects on metabolites remain indistinct. Here, the effects of LUT on immune response and oxidative stress in UC were determined. Serum metabolomics profiles of UC rats treated with LUT were obtained utilizing liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. The results revealed that LUT treatment alleviated colon tissue injury, colon shortening, weight loss, and inflammatory response in UC rats. Additionally, the levels of superoxide dismutase and total antioxidant capacity were elevated, but malondialdehyde content was reduced in serum of UC rats, while these changes were abrogated by LUT. Metabolomics analysis unveiled that l-malic acid, creatinine, l-glutamine, and l-lactic acid levels were remarkably decreased, while dimethyl sulfone, 5-methylcytosine, cysteine-S-sulfate, and jasmonic acid levels were notably increased after LUT treatment. Furthermore, differential metabolites primarily participated in d-glutamine and d-glutamate metabolism, glutathione metabolism, and citrate cycle pathways. In summary, these results demonstrated that LUT improved immune response, alleviated oxidative stress, and altered metabolites in UC rats. This study lays the root for further exploring the mechanism of LUT in the treatment of UC.

Objective. This study is aimed to observe the clinical effects of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine in treating severe preeclampsia (SPE) and its effects on maternal and infant outcomes after cesarean section under combined lumbar and epidural anesthesia. Method. One hundred and sixty-six pregnant women with SPE were randomly divided into an experimental group and control group, with 83 cases in each group. The control group was given conventional treatments such as magnesium sulfate, and the experimental group received self-made traditional Chinese medicine decoction for oral administration. Results. The total clinical effective rate of treatment in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group. After treatment, the systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), mean arterial pressure (MAP), and 24 h proteinuria (24 h PRO) levels of the experimental group were significantly lower than those of the control group. After cesarean section (c-section) under combined lumbar and epidural anesthesia, there were statistically significant differences in placental abruption, uterine weakness, fetal intrauterine distress, and neonatal asphyxia in the experimental group, while there were no significant differences in oligohydramnios. After treatment, the contents of inflammatory factors in both groups decreased, and the decrease was more prominent in the experimental group. After treatment, the levels of blood urea nitrogen (BUN), serum creatinine (Scr), and albumin (Alb) and β2 microglobulin (β2-MG) of the two groups of patients decreased, and the levels of them in the experimental group decreased. After treatment, the levels of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) in the two groups increased. However, the levels of malondialdehyde (MDA), lipid peroxide (LPO), and advanced oxidation protein products (AOPP) all reduced, and the increase or decrease in the experimental group was more prominent. Conclusion. The combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine can reduce the blood pressure of a patient with SPE. After the combined spinal-epidural anesthesia and cesarean section, it can significantly improve the maternal and infant outcomes and renal function, reduce inflammatory factors levels and body oxidative stress, and increase the activities of antioxidant enzymes. This study aimed to explore the effects of osteogenic growth peptide C-terminal pentapeptide (G36G), and its analog G48A on bone modeling in rats with ovariectomy-induced osteoporosis. Ovariectomized rats were administered PBS (OVX group), risedronate (RISE group), G36G combined with risedronate (36GRI group), G36G (G36G group), or G48A (G48A group). The sham-operation rats (SHAM group) were administered PBS. Serum osteocalcin and IGF-2 levels in the SHAM, OVX, G36G, G48A, and RISE groups were observably lower than the 36GRI group (P < 0.01) and the bone mineral density of the entire femur, distal metaphysis, and lumbar L1–L4 in the 36GRI group were notably increased (P < 0.05). The bending energy of the 36GRI group was prominently higher than the other groups (P < 0.05). Other features measured in the study that provided significant outcomes was the ratio of femora ash weight/dry weigh, parameters of trabecular bone volume (TBV)/total tissue volume, TBV/sponge bone volume, mean trabecular plate thickness, mean trabecular plate space, bone surface, parameters of sfract(s) and sfract(d), tetracycline-labeled, and osteoid surfaces. Bone loss in ovariectomized rats may be partially inhibited by G36G and G48A. A combination treatment with G36G and risedronate may be an effective intervention for osteoporosis.
