Silent killer is the nickname of hypertension because someone who has hypertension has even been for years often not aware until complications occur. Hypertension is one of the cormorbid in covid 19 cases so that anxiety is experienced by people with hypertension during the covid 19 pandemic. This study aims to identify the extent of anxiety experienced by people with hypertension. The study used descriptive methods with a crosssectional approach. The results of the study were obtained from 87 respondents in this study that the most respondents were in the age group of >61 years as many as 77 people (88.5%), Female sex as many as 52 people (59.8%) Most respondents worked as retirees as many as 63 people (72.4%) and had a moderate anxiety level of 35 people (40.2%).The conclusion is that there are still many people with hypertension who experience anxiety so that the role of nurses is needed in improving education related to the handling of hypertension in the pandemic covid19 era.

Purpose The primary aim of this pilot study was to examine the feasibility of codelivering a mental health intervention with an evidence-based type 2 diabetes (T2DM) boot camp care management program. The preliminary impact of participation on symptom scores for depression and anxiety and A1C was also examined. Methods This was a 12-week, non-randomized pilot intervention conducted with a convenience sample of adults with uncontrolled T2DM and moderate depression and/or anxiety at an urban teaching hospital. Co-management intervention delivery was via in-person and telehealth visits. Participants were assessed at baseline and 90 days. Results Participants (n = 18) were African American, majority female (83%), and age 50.7 ± 13.4 years. Significant improvements in mental health outcomes were demonstrated, as measured by a reduction in Patient Health Questionnaire − 9 scores of 2.4 ± 2.9 ( P = .01) and in Generalized Anxiety Disorder − 7 scores of 2.3 ± 1.9 ( P = .001). The pre-post intervention mean A1C improved by 3.4 ± 2.1 units from 12% ± 1.4% to 8.5% ± 1.7% ( P < .001). Conclusion The data generated in this pilot support the feasibility of delivering a diabetes and mental health co-management intervention using a combination of in-person and telemedicine visits to engage adults with T2DM and coexisting moderate depression and/or anxiety. Further research is warranted.

Despite high demand, mental health services in primary care in Ireland are underdeveloped. People with mild/moderate anxiety, depression and unspecified psychological distress are frequently seen in primary care settings, mostly by general practitioners (GPs). Occupational therapists have the potential to contribute to service-provision with interventions specially designed for the targeted group e.g. the Redesigning Daily Occupations programme (ReDO-10). This study aimed to explore the feasibility of a future RCT of the ReDO-10 programme in Ireland and the contextual factors that would influence future implementation. Using a multi-phase, mixed-method design, qualitative and quantitative data were gathered from key stakeholders: ReDO-10 participants (n¿=¿10), GPs (n¿=¿9) and occupational therapists (n¿=¿2). Acceptability, satisfaction, cultural fit and demand were explored, as well as methodological issues such as appropriateness of recruitment methods, outcome measures and randomization. ReDO-10 was acceptable to participants who reported improvements in their occupational patterns and valued the group-based format. GPs and occupational therapists welcomed the intervention, but acknowledged the limitations of time and resources in the Irish primary care context. ReDO-10 is feasible to explore in a future RCT in Ireland and this study provides important context for future implementation and/or research. Perubahan fisik dan psikis yang dialami ibu hamil terutama perubahan hormonal menimbulkan gejala mual dan muntah di awal kehamilan. Mual dan muntah yang berlebihan pada awal kehamilan dan berlangsung terus menerus selama kehamilan akan menyebabkan komplikasi fisik dan psikologis. Adanya masalah psikologis pada ibu hamil dapat menyebabkan mual dan muntah yang kemudian memburuk. Masalah emosional juga berkaitan dengan kejadian mual dan muntah yang semakin parah. Metode: Penulis melakukan pencarian ekstensif oleh jurnal ilmiah melalui database terpercaya dan sering digunakan, yaitu PubMed, Springer, dan Science Direct. Kata kunci yang digunakan adalah "hiperemesis" DAN "psikologis" dengan filter publikasi jurnal, 4 tahun terakhir, uji klinis acak, tinjauan sistematis, meta-analisis, subjek penelitian manusia. Kesimpulan: asuhan yang menitikberatkan pada ibu dengan menerapkan prinsip holistic care , dimana pasien tidak hanya mendapatkan asuhan kebidanan secara fisik dan biologis tetapi meliputi psikologis, sosial, spiritual dan budaya dengan melibatkan suami dalam asuhan kebidanan terbukti dapat mempercepat pemulihan fisik dan psikologis penderita hiperemesis. Objective: This research was carried out to examine the relationship between care burden and anxiety levels of terminal period patient relatives. Material and Methods: This research, which is planned as descriptive-correlational type, was conducted between March and May 2020 in Van Training and Research Hospital. Results: According to the findings obtained from the study, the Beck Anxiety Inventory total score mean of the individuals was determined to be 16.40 ± 13.12. The total score mean of the Zarit Care Burden Scale was determined to be 50.23 ± 11.29. A positive statistically significant relationship was found between Beck Anxiety Inventory and Zarit Care Burden Scale total score means (p Conclusion: Individuals have been found to have moderate anxiety and “severe burden”. Palliative care nurses should support the psychological and basic aspects of individuals with nursing interventions necessary for caregivers to cope with anxiety and feel less care burdens. It is recommended to carry out culture-specific programs and long-term clinical studies to ensure that caregivers are able to cope with anxiety.

Pre-surgery is an action before surgery, which can trigger psychological problems, such as anxiety. Spiritual strength is able to help the individual towards the healing and fulfillment of life goals. The aim of the reseach was discover the correlation between the spiritual level and anxiety in preoperative patients in the surgical inpatient units of RSUD Banyumas. This study was conducted from 12 November to 12 December 2019 in the surgical inpatient units of RSUD Banyumas. This research was a non-experimental quantitative, using a correlational research design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample was selected by purposive sampling technique, with 72 sample respondents. The data collection technique used the HARS (Hamilton Rating Scale Anxiety) and DSES (Daily Spiritual Experience Scale questionnaires) questionnaires. The result found 27.8% of patients' preoperative anxiety level at RSUD Banyumas did not experience anxiety, 56.9% felt mild anxiety, and 15.3% suffered from moderate anxiety. Meanwhile, for the spiritual level, only 1.4% of the preoperative patients at RSUD Banyumas had a low spiritual level, 52.8% were at a moderate spiritual level, and 45.8% presented a high spiritual level. The Spearman Rank statistical test obtained p-value = 0.0001; the correlation coefficient was -0.469. There was a correlation between the patients' spiritual level and preoperative anxiety in the surgical inpatient units of RSUD Banyumas.

Anxiety and stress that occur in pregnant women greatly affect the quality of sleeping pregnant women and can pse a risk to the mother and fetus. In Kabupaten Ciamis in 2017 the number of pregnant women as many as 18,881 people. The number of pregnant women in Handapherang Puskesmas working are in february 2018 as many as 237 people. While the number of thirdtrimester pregnant women as many as 91 people. This study aims to determine the relationship between the level of anxiety with sleep quality of third trimester pregnant women in the work area of Handapherang Puskesmas.The research method uses quantitative method of correlational analytic design using simple random sampling technique, with the number of samples counted 48 people from the population number 91 people. The results showed that most of pregnant women’s anxiety was on the level of mild anxiety that is as much as 22 respondents (45,8%). Level of moderate anxiety asmuch as 11 respondents (23%). Severe anxiety as many as 9 respondents (18,7%). While those who did not experience anxiety only 6 respondents (12,5%). Result of research of sleep quality of pregnant mother of trimester III got result only 6 pregnant mother (12%) which sleep quality good while bad sleep quality as much as 42 pregnant mother (88%). Statistical test using spearman rank test with corellation value 0,542 included in strong category and ? value 0,000.Conclusions there is a relationship between the Relationship of Anxiety Level with Sleep Quality of Trimester Pregnant Woman in Working Area of Handapherang Puskesmas with ? value 0,000 smaller than ?= 0,05.

Objective This study was to determine the effect of prenatal yoga on the anxiety level of third trimesters pregnant women in the Singgani Health Center before and after being given yoga pregnancy. Method The method in this study is a type of pre-experimental research that uses the one group pre-test – post-test approach. The samples in this study were 48 subjects using a purposive sampling technique. Prenatal yoga was given to third trimesters pregnancy gestational weeks 30–37 age; the level of anxiety of pregnant women was measured by Interviews using questionnaires. Analysis in the study used the Wilcoxon test. Results Before the intervention of yoga, pregnancy has severe anxiety that is equal to 58.3%, mothers who are not anxious 2.1%, mild anxiety levels 2.1%, mothers who have moderate anxiety levels of 37.5%. After pregnancy yoga, most mothers had a mild anxiety level of 54.1%, mothers who did not have the anxiety of 16.7%, and mothers who had moderate and severe anxiety levels of 14.6% each. Wilcoxon test showed significant statistics. Conclusion This study indicated that prenatal yoga could influence the anxiety level of pregnant women.

Background.Chronic renal failure patients who undergone hemodialysis treatment tend to experience anxiety. Reminiscence therapy by utilize patient’s very own past memorable and fun event can reduce the anxiety levels. This study aims to determine the effect of reminiscence therapy to decrease the level of anxiety. Method. This research utilized pre Experimental One Group Pre-Post Test Design method, conducted on 18 February throughout 20 March 2018.There were 16 respondents of population, 15 respondents were applied as sample by purposive sampling technique. Reminiscence therapy was utilized as independent variable, anxiety levels was used as dependent variable. Wilcoxon sign rank test with α = 0,05, was applied in statistical data analysis, Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) was applied as instrument in assessment. Results. From 16 respondents mostly as much as 8 respondents (53,3%) before the reminiscence therapy was administered showed that had moderate anxiety levels, after reminiscence therapy was administered there was decliene in anxiety levels who resolved to mild anxiety levels which is 14 respondents (93%).The statistical test by utilize wilcoxon sign rank test showed ρ value = 0,007, ρ value ≤ α = 0,05, so Ha was accepted, it means there was influence of reminiscence therapy to decrease the anxiety levels of hemodialysis patients at Hemodialysis Wards of RSUD Nganjuk. Conclusion. Reminiscence therapy showed efficacy inlowered anxiety. Reminiscence therapy motivated respondents by influence positive coping through willingness and openness to remember and retell the memorable and fun of the past events. So the anxiety experienced by hemodialysis patients would be decreased. Reminiscence therapy could be performed by a nurse, it corresponds with the framework of nursing which is roles of nurses as a counselor. Aim: This study is a research made to determine the risks and the dangers that a state university is exposed to during the practice of students in the 3rd and 4th classes of Nursing Department of Health Sciences Faculty and to determine the effect of the dangers on their anxiety levels. Materials and methods: The universe of the cross-sectional and descriptive type study was composed of the students (n=210 people) who were educated in the 3rd and 4th classes of the Nursing Department, of Health Sciences Faculty of Gumushane University in Semptember and October in 2017. During the study period, 197 students were reached actively attending the classes without absenteeism. The datas of the survey were collected with the questions including sociodemographic characteristics and application-working conditions and with the questionnaire consisting the Beck Anxiety Scale and Health Workers’ Safety Scale questions and with the method of face to face conversation. Results: 65.5% of the health professionals of the future participating the survey is female and their avarage age is 21.59±1.40. While the Health Workers’ Safety Scale avarage score of the male students is higher, the Beck Anxiety Scale avarage score of the female students is found higher. Conclusions and suggestions: In this study, it was determined that students were provided with occupational safety but experienced moderate anxiety.

Introduction: The percentage proportion of older people in Indonesia is increasing, indicating that Indonesia is a country with a population structure leaning towards the elderly. If one does not die before that, every human being will surely experience an aging process that can cause various problems such as health problems. Anxiety is one of the serious health problems in the elderly. Physical exercise, such as yoga, can help reduce anxiety level. Aim: To analyze correlation between yoga exercise and level of anxiety in the elderly in Posyandu Lansia Yuswo Widodo Surabaya. Method: This research used a pre-experimental study with pre-posttest one group design, held on the 26th of July 2019 until the 16th of September 2019. The samples in this study were 22 people, all of whom were elderlies who routinely visited and have participated in 16x yoga exercise for two months. The research instrument this study used was HARS. Kendall’s Tau B was used for the data analysis. Results: data analysis shows that there was a correlation between routine yoga exercise and the level of anxiety in the elderly in Posyandu Lansia Yuswo Widodo Surabaya p=0,030. Pretest results showed that there were 14 elderly with mild anxiety and eight elderly with moderate anxiety. post-test data showed five elderly with mild anxiety levels and 17 people who did not have anxiety. Conclusion: There was a correlation between the routine of yoga exercise and the level of anxiety in the elderly in Posyandu Lansia Yuswo Widodo Surabaya.

Anxiety disorders can be interpreted as a heightened tension that results in feelings of helplessness, loss of control and excessive subjective judgment of the interpersonal communication process. Anxiety disorders an ongoing basis often haunt the health of those who have reached a late age (the elderly). However, the elderly in the Tresna Werdha Foundation area, Blahkiuh village, Abiansemal, Badung Regency, Bali Province did not. They are known to love singing the Wargasari. They do not appear to have anxiety disorders about health as the elderly in general. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of Wargasari as therapy in dealing with anxiety disorders among the elderly in the Tresna Werdha Foundation area, Blahkiuh village, Abiansemal, Badung Regency, Bali Province. This type of research is quantitative with a pretest-posttest one-group pre-experimental design. A sample of 67 elderly, who experienced anxiety and selected in total sampling, data were analyzed with the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results showed that the average anxiety before giving Wargasari therapy was 36.90 (severe anxiety), and after being given Wargasari therapy, the average was 23.00 (moderate anxiety). Aim: To assess the association between Individual deprivation measure with dental anxiety and socioeconomic status among patients visiting dentists in Chennai city, Tamil Nadu. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 50 patients aged 18-70 years who visited a private dental institution. Data on socio-demographics and detailed history about dental visits were obtained. Dental anxiety was measured using Corah Dental Anxiety Scale along with Individual deprivation measure questionnaire. Data were analysed using SPSS package 20. Descriptive statistics and one-way ANOVA were used for statistical analysis. Results: A total of 50 patients were enrolled in the study, 38% belonged to 31-40 years of age, 56% were male, 16% postponed dental visit due to dental anxiety, 54% belonged to upper middle class and 64% of the subjects had moderate anxiety. In all, 71.9% of the subjects with moderate anxiety were not deprived and 88.9% of upper middle class subjects were not deprived. Significant association was found between socioeconomic status and dental anxiety with Individual deprivation measure with a P < 0.05. Increasing socioeconomic status was associated with more deprivation and dental anxiety was higher among less deprived patients. Conclusion: Individual deprivation measure was associated with dental anxiety. Less deprived and higher socioeconomic class population had a significant higher dental anxiety.

Purpose: Thermal imaging is a technology that is able to capture images quickly and provide results with high resolution so that it is able to provide accurate results about the temperature picture. The purpose of this study was to examine if there were differences in anxiety conditions at facial temperatures measured using thermal imaging.Methodology:Eighty-one participants were taking the pre-clinical exams was chosen as the inclusion criteria and were divided into four categories of anxiety range (not anxious, mild anxiety, moderate anxiety, and severe anxiety) based on their score measured that using the General Anxiety Disorder (GAD-7) as the instrument. The participants were measured their face temperature using thermal imaging on the upper forehead (frontal) and left-right forehead (temporal). Data was analyzed to show the characteristic of anxiety level on the frontal and temporal temperature. There were difference anxiety conditions (no anxious, mildly anxious, moderate anxious and severe anxious) to thermal imaging face temperatures in the frontal and temporal.Main findings: The results showed that more increased the temporal and frontal of face temperature, more severe the anxiety. Objectives This study investigated patients' insights into whether virtual reality (VR) technology plays a beneficial role in reducing anxiety levels while undergoing dental extractions.Design Explorative study.Setting Oral Surgery Department of Birmingham Dental Hospital in July 2017.Material and methods Fifty patients were screened for extractions. All participants had previous experience of extractions without VR. Pre-treatment anxiety levels were recorded using the Modified Dental Anxiety Scale (MDAS). During the procedure, each patient wore a Virtoba VR headset, whereby they were involved in an underwater VR experience. A post-treatment questionnaire recorded patient demographics and VR experiences in relation to anxiety levels.Results Participant response on the benefit of the VR system on anxiety reduction during treatment was: 35% (extremely beneficial), 30% (quite beneficial), 25% (of some benefit) and 10% (of little benefit). Responses showed that 87.5% wanted VR to be used again during their next visit. The most benefit was found to be in the following patient groups: males; young adults (aged 18-35); patients with moderate anxiety (MDAS 11-18), and those who underwent surgical extractions.Conclusion The majority of patients (65%) found VR to be extremely or quite beneficial in reducing their anxiety levels. Perhaps after future large scale studies, more dental clinicians could consider VR technology in their practice for anxiety reduction, particularly when treating the patient groups identified in the study who took a greater liking towards VR.

Mothers' of leukemic children facing many stressors which represents challenging to them to maintain balance between care for their leukemic children and maintain their wellbeing so this study investigate the effects of maternal capacity building intervention on their competence, perceived wellbeing and their leukemic children health. A Quasi experimental research design was used to conduct the current study, a purposive sample of 54 mothers with their leukemic children admitted during September - December 2018 at Oncology center, pediatric department, Mansoura University, Egypt whom fulfills the criteria of selection. Data were collected pre and post the capacity building intervention. The results indicated that post capacity building intervention mothers ' knowledge regarding leukemia and care practice of leukemic children was improved significantly. Post capacity building intervention also the majority of mothers were comply with; children care (88.9%), recommended diet compliance (72.2%), and all of them comply with follow up schedule also about two thirds of them post the intervention had good sleep quality (77.8%), good appetite ( 72.2%) and moderate anxiety level (63%).Regarding studied subjects sense of competence it was improved significantly post the intervention where more than two third of them perceived that they has high level of competence compared with none of them pre the intervention. Conclusion: Capacity building intervention improved subjects' knowledge, subjects’ care practice which raises their perceived self-competence, wellbeing level and improve their leukemic children health. Recommendation: Mothers’ need special preparation to; satisfy leukemic children need, maintain children health, raise mothers’ wellbeing to be able to go through their life and satisfy other family member's needs.

Background COVID19 public health crisis has led to extensive anxiety regarding spread of virus. Aim of study is to assess COVID19-related anxiety in Egypt and correlate it to knowledge and stigma. Results Online questionnaire, 17–20 April 2020, had 218 Egyptian respondents to a socio-demographic questionnaire and Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale (GAD-7). The present study revealed that 21.2% of the respondents were experiencing severe anxiety, 34.8% moderately severe anxiety, 25.2% moderate anxiety, and 18.8% mild anxiety. Women have more rates of severe anxiety. People who get online knowledge about COVID19 have least rates of severe anxiety. 51.8% think having the virus is stigmatizing. Knowledge and stigma are insignificantly inversely correlated to anxiety scores Conclusion Online scientific health education is necessary to reduce anxiety.

Objetivo:se propone identificar la existencia de ansiedad en odontólogos causada por la COVID-19 en Ecuador, dentro de un período comprendido desde el 20 de mayo al 15 de junio del 2020. Métodos:se realizaron encuestas online basadas enla versión validada en español de Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS),Escala de Ansiedad de Hamilton, compuesta por 14 ítems y dirigida a odontólogos ecuatorianos. La participación en este estudio fue de carácter anónimo y voluntario, con el fin de salvaguardar la identidad de los encuestados. Los criterios de clasificación fueron: asintomático: 0 a 7; ansiedad mínima de 8 a 13; ansiedad moderada de 14 a 21; ansiedad obvia de 22 a 29; ansiedad severa mayor de 29. Resultados:se recibió un total de 254 encuestas correctamente diligenciadas,de las cuales participaron 188 mujeres (74%) y 66 hombres (26%); la edad máxima fue 66 y la edad mínima 22 años, con una edad promedio de 34. Del total de participantes se encontraban ejerciendo la práctica privada 189 (74,4%) y pública 65 (25,6%); también, se evidenció que 92 (36%) personas si recibieron ayuda psicológica y 162 (64%) no recibieron. El valor más elevado fueel de ansiedad moderada con un total de 77 odontólogos (30%), seguido por ansiedad mínima con 64 (25%); asintomáticos, 51 (20%); ansiedad obvia, 48 (19%) y ansiedad severa, 14 (6%).Conclusiones:los odontólogos han presentado, con mayor frecuencia, estados de ansiedadmoderada como consecuencia de la COVID-19.

Aim: The aim of the study was to determine the acceptability and feasibility of an intervention to support women with mild to moderate anxiety in pregnancy.Design: The intervention development and feasibility testing followed the MRC guidelines for complex interventions. A feasibility study was conducted between April - May 2016.Methods: Qualitative and quantitative data were collected to assess the acceptability and feasibility of the intervention. The intervention was delivered in three components: pre-group individual meeting with the midwife; group sessions; guided self-help resources. The intervention was facilitated by midwives and co-facilitated by midwifery support workersResults: Eight women with self-reported symptoms of mild to moderate anxiety participated in the study. Women reported an improvement in anxiety symptoms and felt they had benefitted from participation. Accessing social support from other women in similar circumstances had helped women to feel less isolated and facilitated open and honest discussions. Women valued the involvement of the midwife facilitator to support their wellbeing and provide specific advice about their pregnancies.Conclusions: The intervention design appeared to be acceptable and beneficial for this group of women. This study highlights the potential for midwives to facilitate supportive interventions to enhance the current provision of emotional support for women with anxiety symptoms in pregnancy and address the current gap in services. The intervention is potentially feasible for introduction into current clinical practice with minimal additional resources.

Aims To compare the prevalence of psychological symptoms (depression, anxiety, and stress) in women with urinary incontinence (UI), according to the presence or absence of myofascial dysfunction (MD) in the pelvic floor muscles (PFMs). Methods Cross-sectional study, with women with UI who are 18 years old and over. The diagnosis of MD was defined by the pain of any intensity during the palpation of PFM. All participants answered the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire-Short Form and the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire Overactive Bladder for urinary symptoms and the Depression Anxiety and Stress Scale-Short Form-21 to check for the presence and degrees of depression, anxiety, and stress. Results Two hundred-thirty-four women with a mean age of 52.5 (±9.2) years were included. Almost half (51.7%) of women had MD. Women with MD showed higher mild and moderate anxiety scores (p = .005) and higher mild, moderate, and severe stress scores (p = .027) than women without MD. Depression scores were not associated with MD; however, women with and without MD reported severe or extremely severe depression, anxiety, and stress. Conclusions The risk for depression, anxiety, and stress is high among women with UI regardless of the presence of MD. However, women with MD had higher scores for anxiety and stress than women with UI without MD.

Introduction: Anxiety management is one of the most important health issues which is being faced by humans today. Biofeedback, as a method of neurophysiology, has been added to the methods recommended for this purpose. Aim: The aim of the study was to measure the effectiveness of biofeedback method by using Brain Boy Universal Professional in the treatment of anxiety disorders. Methods: The sample of this research study consisted of 50 individuals, suffering from symptoms of anxiety, who underwent biofeedback therapy. For the purposes of this study, the self-administered questionnaire Hamilton Rating Scale for Anxiety was completed by the individuals both before the initiation of the therapy and after individuals had completed ten sessions of treatment with biofeedback. Results: Prior to biofeedback, 26% of the participants showed mild to moderate anxiety, 12% a medium severity of anxiety and the remaining 62% severe anxiety. After the completion of 10 sessions of biofeedback, 78% of the participants was found to experience mild to moderate anxiety, 12% a medium severity of anxiety and only 10% of severe anxiety. Conclusion: Biofeedback can be a therapeutic method for the treatment of anxiety disorders, giving treatment to patients who do not respond to drugs but also to patients who want to apply to undergo such treatment alongside other therapeutic methods including drugs.

Assessment of the level of depression, anxiety and stress among hypertensive patients attending MedicineOPD, in selected Tertiary Care Hospital, Kanchipuram District, Tamil Nadu, India. The objectives were toassess the level of depression, anxiety and stress among hypertension patients and to associate the selecteddemographic variables with the level of depression, anxiety and stress of hypertension patients. 80 patientswere selected using by purposive sampling technique. We have used DASS-21 standardized tool for ourresearch study. The study findings showed that majority of the patients 64(80%) were normal, 13(16%) weremildly depressed and only 3(4%) were moderately depressed, On the aspects of anxiety majority 58(73%)were normal, 13(16%) were having mild anxiety and only 9(11%) were having moderate anxiety and onthe level of stress majority 75(94%) were normal and 5(6%) were mildly stressed. Over all mean of levelof depression of hypertensive patients were found to be (6.67), for the level of anxiety the mean was foundto be (5.7) and (8.9) for the level of stress aspects of the of the hypertensive patients. Standard deviationaspects of the hypertensive patients for the level of depression (3.79), for the level of anxiety (3.08) and forthe level of stress were found to be (3.77). There was significant association between the level of depressionand type of diet (?2 = 22.84) and the level of stress and age (?2= 33.44) of the hypertensive patients. Thestudy concludes that most of the hypertensive patients were normal in the level of depression, anxietyand stress. Nurses when we confront patients with hypertension, if they have symptoms of depression,stress and anxiety, we have to refer them for psychiatric consultation and provide health education on stressmanagement strategies.

Objetivo:Avaliar a relação da ansiedade e estresse com as características sociodemográficas e clínicas de pacientes que aguardam o cateterismo cardíaco (CATE). Método:Estudo transversal, com pacientes que aguardavam o CATE. A ansiedade e o estresse foram avaliados pelo Inventário de Ansiedade-Estado e Escala de Estresse Percebido. Foram utilizados oteste exato de Fisher e o t-Student ou Mann-Whitney, considerando nível de significância de 5%. Resultados:A maioria era homens, idade média de 60±9 anos. Apresentavam ansiedade baixa ou moderada,escore médio de 42±9,17 pontos e estresse baixo, escore médio de 19,1±6,4 pontos.A ansiedade se relacionou com a idade (p=0,033), o estresse autorreferido (p=0,046) e ex-tabagistas (p=0,013). Já o estresse se relacionou com a idade (p=0,019) e tabagistas (p=0,001). Discussão:O aumento da ansiedade e estresse podem ser influenciados pelas responsabilidades cívicas e sociais, hormônios estimulados pelo estresse e conflitos emocionais relacionados à nicotina. Conclusão:Os mais ansiosos eram mais jovens, ex-tabagistas e se autorreferiram como estressados. E os mais estressados eram mais jovens e tabagistas.

Background This study aimed to determine the anxiety levels of standardized/simulated patients (SPs) who received bad news and to explore the effects of relaxation exercises during the de-roling/debriefing phase on the anxiety levels of the SPs. Method A pretest/post-test pattern was used for 19 SPs who participated in the study. Results The SPs were mildly anxious (mean State-Trait Anxiety Inventory [STAI] score, 38.16 ± 8.69) before delivery of the bad news. After delivery of the bad news, the SPs showed moderate anxiety levels (mean STAI score, 47.89 ± 8.95). The relaxation exercises showed a statistically significant decrease in the anxiety levels, and the SPs (p Conclusion Relaxation exercises during de-roling/debriefing showed promising effects to provide a psychologically safe working environment for SPs, especially after portraying difficult scenarios.

The Depression Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS) is a promising tool compared with traditional measures because of its greater divergent validity. Unlike the original DASS-42, the DASS-21 version still lacks validation studies particularly in Asian populations. To validate the psychometric properties of DASS-21 among nursing and midwifery students. Data were collected at three time points, the beginning, middle and end of the semester, from students enrolling in the positive thinking module. Reliability statistics, floor and ceiling effects, and factor analysis were computed. One hundred twenty-six data points were used where participants reported mild stress levels (mean = 14.8 ± 4.18), moderate anxiety levels (mean = 13.3 ± 3.45) and mild depression levels (mean = 12.3 ± 3.40). DASS-21 showed excellent internal consistency reliability estimates except for item 2. Background: Pregnancy is a valuable thing, but also one of the great stresses for a woman both physically and mentally. Pregnant women with high anxiety will increase the risk of hypertension, difficulty sleeping and stroke, seizures and even death in the mother and fetus. In Puskesmas Ponorogo district the number of pregnant women as much as 5903 mothers, while in health centers Jetis the number of pregnant women as many as 200 mothers. Interview results, 21 out of 27 mothers said were very anxious during her pregnancy. The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors of social support for anxiety in pregnant women. Subjects and Methods: The type of research is analytical with cross-sectional approach. The location of research at Jetis health center Ponorogo regency. Research conducted on September 1 to October 15, 2016. Sample of 30 pregnant women using proportional random sampling technique. Dependent variable is anxiety, while independent variable is social support. Data collection techniques using questionnaires. Colles fracture is 15% of the whole fracture incidents in adults, and joint stiffness is the most common complication. Anxiety is one of a variety of factors strongly associated with an increased risk of disability and pain intensity in patients with musculoskeletal disorders. This study aims to identify the relationship between anxiety and the level of joint stiffness in Colles fracture patients. This research is an observational analytic study with a cross-sectional design . Data collection was carried out in the physiotherapy of PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping Hospital from March to October 2018 by interview using a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Spearman correlation test . The result of the study with 13 respondents showed 9 people (69.2%) did not experience anxiety, one person (7.7%) experienced mild anxiety, one person (7.7%) was in moderate anxiety, and two others were in severe anxiety (15.4%). Meanwhile, in terms of the level of joint stiffness, three people (23.1%) were in mild stiffness, three people (23.1%) were in moderate stiffness, six people (46.2%) were in severe stiffness, and one person (7.7%) was in highly severe stiffness. Statistical test of the relationship between anxiety and the level of joint stiffness in patients with Colles fracture showed no significant correlation (p=0.808). It can be concluded that there was no relationship between anxiety and the level of joint stiffness in fracture patients.

The aim of this study is to assess the prevalence of preoperative anxiety among Nigerian Hausa patients undergoing elective surgery. Methods: Thirty patients between the ages of 17- 64 years scheduled to undergo elective surgery in a tertiary health facility in northern Nigeria were recruited and administered a translated Hausa version of the Amsterdam Preoperative Anxiety and Information Scale (APAIS-H).APAIS-H was administered to each patient in the evening before and in the morning of their surgery day. Results: Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) Version 23.0 was used to analyze the data. Analyses were according to the APAIS subscales to see preoperative anxiety a day before and on the day of surgery. On both the fear of anesthesia and fear of surgery subscales, 76.6% of the participants presented with low to moderate anxiety in the evening proceeding the day of their surgery. Only 23.3% of the participants were highly anxious about either anesthesia or surgery in the evening proceeding the day of their surgery. On the anxiety related to surgery subscale, in the morning of the surgery day, 36.7% of the participants had low to moderate anxiety related to anesthesia while 63.3% were highly anxious about anesthesia. Also, 40% of the participants presented with low to moderate anxiety related to surgery in the morning of their surgery while the remaining 60% were highly anxious about the surgery in the morning of the day of their surgery. The full-scale preoperative anxiety scores reveal that 53% of the participants had low anxiety, 26.7 had moderate anxiety while 20% of participants had high preoperative anxiety in the evening preceding their surgery. In the morning of the day of their scheduled surgery, 20% of the participants presented with low anxiety, another 20% had moderate anxiety while the remaining 60% had high preoperative anxiety. Conclusion: The findings of the study show that anxiety before elective surgery is prevalent among Hausa patients. It is therefore recommended that adequate psychological preoperative anxiety reduction interventions be put in place to address patients’ anxiety to achieve a better surgical outcome .

Objective:The research about follow-up patterns of women attending high-risk breast-cancer clinics is sparse. This study sought to profile daughters of breast-cancer patients who are likely to return versus those unlikely to return for follow-up care in a high-risk clinic.Method:Our investigation included 131 patients attending the UCLA Revlon Breast Center High Risk Clinic. Predictor variables included age, computed breast-cancer risk, participants' perceived personal risk, clinically significant depressive symptomatology (CES–D score ≥ 16), current level of anxiety (State–Trait Anxiety Inventory), and survival status of participants' mothers (survived or passed away from breast cancer).Results:A greater likelihood of reattendance was associated with older age (adjusted odds ratio [AOR] = 1.07, p = 0.004), computed breast-cancer risk (AOR = 1.10, p = 0.017), absence of depressive symptomatology (AOR = 0.25, p = 0.009), past psychiatric diagnosis (AOR = 3.14, p = 0.029), and maternal loss to breast cancer (AOR = 2.59, p = 0.034). Also, an interaction was found between mother's survival and perceived risk (p = 0.019), such that reattendance was associated with higher perceived risk among participants whose mothers survived (AOR = 1.04, p = 0.002), but not those whose mothers died (AOR = 0.99, p = 0.685). Furthermore, a nonlinear inverted “U” relationship was observed between state anxiety and reattendance (p = 0.037); participants with moderate anxiety were more likely to reattend than those with low or high anxiety levels.Significance of Results:Demographic, medical, and psychosocial factors were found to be independently associated with reattendance to a high-risk breast-cancer clinic. Explication of the profiles of women who may or may not reattend may serve to inform the development and implementation of interventions to increase the likelihood of follow-up care.

This study is descriptive analytic correlation using cross sectional approach . The subject is all AMI patients. The sampling technique using in this research is total sampling. A questionnaire was constructed to collect data. The collection data was analyzed by using spearman. Re trieved from 30 respondents, it is the average age of patients with myocardial infarction is 51-65 (63,3%) and the majority of the majority of the male gender with percentage 63,3%. Majority of AMI patients moderate anxiety with percentage 43,3% and long of stay fast with a percentage 56,7%. Analysis of test result obtained probality value 0.41 . The primary objective of this open-label, retrospective, observational study was to examine change in indicators of anxiety changed after treatment period of at least 1 month with the homeopathic-complex medicine Datif-PC(®). A secondary objective was to describe the quantitative changes in the sleep pattern of the subjects included in the study.The study population consisted of 71 subjects suffering from mild to moderate anxiety, who were treated with a homeopathic-complex medicine. The subjects had attended at least 2 consultations during the year 2010, with the second visit taking place at least 30 days after the first baseline visit. At both visits, subjects were administered the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI)-Y questionnaire (consisting of trait and state subscales) to assess their level of anxiety. Sleep quality was assessed based on the subjects' self-reported number of hours slept and number of night-time awakenings, before and after treatment.Compared to baseline, the average (STAI)-state score at visit 2 decreased by more than 6 points, while the STAI-trait score decreased by more than 3 points. This was statistically significant (p 0.0001) for both subscales. These findings were stable in subgroup analyses (gender, age and anxiety level). The average number of hours slept per night increased significantly at visit 2 compared to baseline (from 5.1 ± 1.1 to 5.56 ± 0.9 h, p 0.0001). A marked decrease in the average number of night-time awakenings was also observed at the second visit (-42%, p 0.0001).This retrospective observational study suggests that treatment of anxiety and sleep disorders with Datif-PC(®) can produce notable improvements even in a short period of time. Furthermore, the observed effects were not affected by sex, age or baseline anxiety. Further controlled, randomized studies are justified.

The purpose of this descriptive and analytic study is to investigate the effect on anxiety levels of nurses' empathic tendency after experiencing death of patients in the paediatric intensive care unit. No sampling method was used in this study, and all 58 nurses working in the paediatric intensive care unit that agreed to participate in the study were included. The score mean of Empathic Tendency Scale for nurses was 77.43 ± 4.55, their score mean of trait anxiety inventory was 39.82 ± 5.53 and their score mean of state anxiety inventory was 48.03 ± 6.80. This study concluded that nurses had a mild trait anxiety level under normal conditions and experienced moderate anxiety levels when faced with death. This study concluded that the empathic tendency of nurses working in the paediatric intensive care unit had no effect on their anxiety levels when faced with death; however, the anxiety level of nurses decreased as their empathic trends increased.

Purpose: The aim of the present study was to compare trait anxiety and dental anxiety among children, adolescents and their parents. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted involving 100 patients from the Pediatric Dentistry Clinic of the Federal University of Parana (Brazil) between the ages of 8 and 17 years (mean age: 10.3; standard deviation: 2.03) and their parents, who responded to Corah's Dental Anxiety Scale (DAS) and the Trait Anxiety Scale. The data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test, analysis of variance and both Pearson's and Spearman's correlation coefficients. Results: Ninety percent of children and adolescents and 76% of the parents had moderate anxiety based on the DAS score. Seventy-four percent of children and adolescents and 72% of the parents had moderate anxiety based on the Trait Anxiety Scale score. The trait anxiety and dental anxiety scores were correlated among the adults (rs = 0.64) and children (r = 0.52), whereas no correlation between scores was found among the adolescents. Associations were also found between children's trait anxiety and the dental and trait anxiety of their parents (both r = 0.43). Conclusions: A moderate degree of dental anxiety was prevalent among the children, adolescents and parents who took part in this investigation, with correlations demonstrated between some trait anxiety and dental anxiety scores.

Background: Affective disturbances can influence the attitude toward smoking in patients with various diseases. This study aims to assess the level of anxiety and its influence on smoking behavior in a group of adult patients with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP). Methods: The study included 64 smokers with CAP admitted in the Clinic of Infectious Diseases, Timisoara between 2012 and 2014. All patients answered the State Trait Anxiety Inventory-X2 anonymous test. The final scores allowed the classification of patients by their level of anxiety: minimal (score below 40), moderate (score 40-60) and severe (score over 60). Other variables were: sex, education, number of cigarettes smoked/day, etc. The obtained data was statistically processed with EpiInfo 6 program. Results: Out of study group, 40 patients (62.51%) were male and 24 (37.50%) werewomen; and were recorded43 patients withsevere anxiety and 21 with moderate anxiety (p=0.02); 22 patients were smoking less than 10 cigarettes/day and 42 patients were smoking more than 10 cigarettes/day were smoking (p=0.04); Out of the 22 patients who were smoking less than 10 cigarettes/day, 18 patients showed with moderate anxiety and 4 withsevere anxiety were reported. Out of the 42 patients who were smoking more than 10 cigarettes/day, 36 withsevere anxiety and 6 with moderate anxietywere reported.Only 13 (20.31%) patients accepted anti-smoking counseling. Conclusions: Taking in to consideration the level of anxiety among the patients with CAP leads to an increased number of cigarettes smoked/day, it is required to establish programs in order to enhance the level of medical education and to support the anti-smoking counseling.

Background: Researches have shown that in some countries where patients are transferred from intensive care to the general ward, they experience mental challenges, including anxiety. However, in Iran no researches have been done on this subject. Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of anxiety in patients transferred from the intensive care unit to the general ward. Methods: This study was a cross-sectional study. Samples of this study included 110 patients transferred from the intensive care unit to the general ward. Spielberger's questionnaire was used to collect data. To analyze the data, the SPSS version 16 software was used. Results: After entering variables in the multivariate logistic regression model, it was found, that there was only a significant rela- tionship between gender and anxiety. Statistical data showed that 63.6% of patients had moderate anxiety. Conclusions: According to the study, the subjects had high levels of anxiety, thus providing a platform for learning how to deal with anxiety seems to be required for these patients. The study also found that being female is directly related to the level of anxiety in these patients. Therefore, more attention to females during transfer from the intensive care to the general ward is important.

El objetivo del estudio fue comparar los niveles de ansiedad generados en los pacientes que acuden a un consultorio odontológico en dos servicios públicos. Se obtuvieron datos de pacientes que hayan acudido por lo menos una vez en un año calendario a un servicio odontológico, la ansiedad se midió con el test de Corah. La muestra estuvo conformada por 100 pacientes (50 de cada servicio). Se obtuvo que el 39 % de los pacientes presentó ansiedad moderada, un 19 % en el servicio universitario y un 20 % en el servicio hospitalario; el 15 % de los pacientes presentó ansiedad severa, un 9 % en el hospitalario y un 6 % en el servicio universitario. Mayor porcentaje de ansiedad moderada, alta y severa se presentó en el servicio hospitalario. Otra sección de la encuesta fue la Evaluación de los Miedos Dentales. Se concluye que el tiempo y el costo que demanda la atención son los factores que causan más ansiedad en los pacientes.

High anxiety levels during pregnancy commonly lead to clinical complications that affect the mother/child’s prenatal and perinatal health. Such complications are thought to result from combining deficiencies of the endocrine milieu and decreased immune tolerance that support pregnancy. It is yet unclear whether pregnant women subjected to moderate anxiety develop a similar state of endocrine deficits and compromised immune tolerance. Here, we evaluated this issue by monitoring endocrine and immune parameters during pregnancy in a sample of women suffering of moderate anxiety. The health of mothers and children, as well as the outcome of the pregnancies were also revised and recorded. Moderately anxious pregnant women present increments of state anxiety, serum cortisol and progesterone, but not of estradiol, as pregnancy progressed. No variations of leukocyte anti- and pro-inflammatory cytokine mRNA expression were found along pregnancy. However, these pregnant women did show an increased frequency of gestational and perinatal complications, conditions that had no major consequences for their health and that of their children at birth. Hence, moderate anxiety renders the mother to be susceptible to develop diseased states during or by the end of pregnancy, while keeping the endocrine milieu and immune tolerance reasonably in place.

Introduction: Old age is the closing period in the life span, and it is characterized by certain physical and psychological changes in human being, including anxiety and depression. These changes often determine personal and social adjustments of the elderly. Aim: This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of progressive muscle relaxation therapy on anxiety and depression among elderly people residing in selected old age homes of Rajasthan. Materials and Methods: Pre-experimental research approach with one group pretest–posttest design was used to conduct the study. Nonprobability convenience sampling technique was adopted to select 50 elderly of selected old age homes of Rajasthan. Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale and the Geriatric Depression Scale were used to assess anxiety and depression, respectively. Progressive muscle relaxation technique (PMRT) was implemented and continued once a day for 10 days for 20–30 min. Aim: This study was performed to determine the levels of depression and anxiety, and coping strategies, and the effects of the levels of depression and anxiety on strategies for coping with stress in cancer patients. Method: The study was designed as a definitive and correlation search ing investigation and has been performed at the Medical Oncology Clinic of Ataturk University Research Hospital between the dates July-August 2005. The study was carried out on 96 cancer patients. The question form prepared with the purpose of determining demographic and disease-related features (type of treatment, duration of disease and treatment) of the patients, and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HAD), Strategies for Coping with Stress Scale in collecting the data. Result: It was determined that the type of treatment of 84.4% of the patients was chemotherapy only and mean duration of disease was 15.02±14.05 months, mean duration of treatment was 14.05±14.16 months. Anxiety was determined in 61.5% and depression in 81.3% of the patients. It has been found that patient benefited most from social support seeking strategy. This has been followed by problem solving strategy and avoidance strategy. A positive, statistically significant relationship was found between the avoidance strategy, and anxiety and depression levels of the patients. Conclusion: Patients experience moderate anxiety and depression. It was concluded that patients recruited active coping strategies mostly. Patients are observed to avoid stressful events with the increasing levels of anxiety and depression.

The cataract’s prevalence was still high in Indonesia, according to medical record data of Eye South Sumatera Province Hospital, the year 2016, found that Senile cataracts were ranked first of the top 10 outpatient diseases, amounted 8.275 people. According to the Health Ministry of Indonesia, the year 2014, 8.1% patient have fear of surgery or anxiety. This study was to determine the effect of murrotal audio therapy of Qur'an Surah Ar-Rahman to the level of anxiety in pre-surgery senile cataract patients at Eye Hospital of South Sumatra Province. The design of this research was pre-experiment using quantitative approach. Primary data were obtained through interviews and observations using questionnaires, before intervention and after the intervention. The number of samples was 56 respondents and taken by accidental sampling technique. Data were analyzed by univariate and bivariate analysis with Nonparametric statistical test, Marginal Homogeneity Test. The result showed that patients with anxiously heavy was 28 people (50.0%) before the murottal treatment of Qur'an Surah Ar-Rahman, and patients with anxious very heavy were 28 people (50.0%). After intervention or treatment using murottal audio therapy Qur'an Surah Ar-Rahman, 16 people (28.6%) were moderate anxiety, 35 people (62.5%) were anxiously heavy, and 5 people (8.9%) were anxious very heavy. It can be concluded that there was the influence of anxiety differences of respondents before and after given audio therapy Qur'an Surah Ar-Rahman.

Objective: We developed and tested a self-help program with minimal therapist involvement for parents of anxious children. Method: The program focused on transfer of control from therapist to parents of children with moderate anxiety, and consisted of two therapist-led workshops, a Facebook group, and Cool Kids manuals for parents and children. The sample consisted of 20 families, and 17 completed treatment. Results: After treatment, intent-to-treat analyses indicated that 65% of the children were free of all anxiety disorders. The corresponding figure for completers was 76.5%. Conclusion: Our results suggest that parent-based self-help groups focusing on transfer of control may be a cost-effective way of providing treatment to children with moderate anxiety.

The relationship between psychological stress and reduced fecundity has been a matter of speculation and investigation for decades. Most previous studies have been compromised, however, by a number of problems including ambiguous direction of causation, poorly operationalized variables, and the confounding of psychological with energetic stress. We present a two-part study of the relationship between moderate anxiety, both acute and chronic, and daily measures of ovarian steroid and corticosteroid levels in saliva. Anxiety, as a particular form of psychosocial stress, was measured by the Spielberger Stait-Trait Anxiety Inventory as well as by a self-reported daily stress score. In the first part, 23 college juniors taking the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) were studied the month before and the month after the test, and again several months later, and compared at the same time points with 27 controls. In the second part, chronic anxiety levels were assessed in 95 women between 27 and 41 years of age and analyzed in relation to daily levels of salivary ovarian and corticosteroids over one menstrual cycle. The sample sizes are sufficient to allow for confidence in negative results. No statistically significant differences in ovarian or corticosteroid levels were observed whether between the MCAT and control subjects in part one, between the MCAT subjects before and after the MCAT test in part one, or between high and low anxiety subjects in part two. The results indicate that moderate levels of anxiety, whether acute or chronic, are not associated with suppressed ovarian function in healthy women.

A comparative analysis of the psycho-emotional status and quality of life of patients with acne and post-acne.There were 147 patients included in the study, 84 (57%) women and 63 (43%) men, aged from 14 to 48 years. The following parameters were studied: CADI score, APSEA score, DLQI score. Anxiety and depression were assessed with HAM-D and HAM-A.Higher scores on CADI, APSEA and DLQI and dissatisfaction with the results of therapy were noted in older patients. Significant changes in CADI, APSEA and DLQI scores in patients with post-acne symptoms were recorded later compared to patients with acne. Anxiety and depression symptoms measured with HAM-D and HAM-A reached the level of depressive disorder of moderate severity and moderate anxiety in patients over 20 years old. Mental disorders were qualified within the nosogenic anxiety-phobic reactions developing in connection with dermatosis manifestation.Acnes substantially better give in to correction than post-acne symptom complex. Regardless of age, post-acne symptoms considerably reduce quality of life of patients, sometimes causing more expressed changes (anxiety and depression) than dermatosis.Цель исследования. Сравнительное изучение психического состояния и качества жизни пациентов с акне и постакне. Материал и методы. Под наблюдением находились 147 пациентов, среди них 84 (57%) женщины и 63 (43%) мужчины, в возрасте от 14 до 48 лет. В работе исследовались индекс CADI, индекс APSEA, индекс DLQI, применялись шкалы для оценки выраженности депрессии HAM-D и тревоги HAM-A, а также психопатологический метод. Результаты и заключение. Более высокие значения исследуемых индексов и неудовлетворенность результатами терапии отмечались у пациентов более старшей возрастной группы. Достоверная динамика индексов CADI, APSEA и DLQI у пациентов с постакне наблюдалась в более поздние, чем при акне, сроки. Тревожная и депрессивная симптоматика в соответствии с оценкой по шкалам HAM-D и HAM-A у пациентов старше 20 лет достигала уровня депрессивных расстройств средней степени тяжести и умеренно выраженных анксиозных симптомов. Психические нарушения были квалифицированы в рамках нозогенных реакций, возникающих в связи с манифестацией дерматоза. Акне поддаются коррекции в значительной степени лучше, чем симптомокомплекс постакне. Вне зависимости от возраста симптомы постакне в большей степени снижают качество жизни пациентов, порой вызывая более выраженные, чем сам дерматоз, психические изменения (тревожные и депрессивные расстройства).

The goal of this study was to empirically test a prevention program for panic disorder. Participants who had experienced at least 1 panic attack in the last 12 months and at least moderate anxiety sensitivity, but did not meet criteria for panic disorder, were randomly assigned to either a 1-day prevention workshop group or a wait-list control group. Participants were followed for 6 months. Relative to the wait-list control, workshop participants were less likely to develop panic disorder and reported significantly more improvement in panic attacks and avoidance of social situations. Satisfaction with the workshop predicted outcome 6 months later. These findings suggest that prevention may be a viable option for panic disorder, and one that warrants further development.

Purpose: Multidisciplinary trauma team education through trauma video review (TVR) is a useful performance improvement tool, but video recording resuscitations may cause providers anxiety. We examined perceptions of educational value and anxiety associated with being reviewed in TVR. Methods: Trauma team members were asked to complete an anonymous online survey. Educational scores (E scores) and anxiety scores (A score) were calculated from survey responses. Respondents were divided into groups by roles: trainees (T; medical students, residents, and fellows), attending surgeons (A), and nurses (N). Kruskal-Wallis test was used for statistical testing. Findings: A total of 39 subjects completed the survey (T = 17, 43%; A = 8, 23%; N = 14, 35%). TVR scored high in educational value (median E score 90; IQR = 78-96) but provoked moderate anxiety (median A score 27; IQR = 20–36). No significant differences in E scores were seen between groups. A scores were not significantly different between groups N and T (20 vs 33; P = .11) or groups T and A (33 vs. 35; P = 1.0) but were significantly higher in group A than in group N (36 vs 20; P = .04). Conclusions: Despite perceptions of educational value, TVR is associated with anxiety among providers, which is different between groups. Continued assessment of perceptions regarding TVR may allow for modifications to maintain educational value while decreasing anxiety.

Objetivo: Descrever a avaliação que pacientes oncológicos e seus familiares fazem sobre ligações telefônicas, realizadas com vistas a reduzir a ansiedade durante o tratamento radioterápico. Método: Estudo descritivo e exploratório, de abordagem quanti-qualitativa, realizado em um ambulatório de radioterapia de um hospital de ensino do Rio Grande do Sul/Brasil. Participaram 20 pacientes que iniciaram o tratamento radioterápico e 20 familiares. Foi realizada uma entrevista para a coleta dos dados. A análise dos dados ocorreu por meio de organização em categorias e análise estatística descritiva. Resultados: A maioria dos pacientes e familiares apresentou ansiedade moderada no início do tratamento radioterápico, e avaliaram como importante o recebimento de ligações telefônicas para amenizar a ansiedade, uma vez que os sentimentos de tranquilidade e de estímulo/encorajamento foram propiciados pelos contatos. Considerações finais: As ligações telefônicas repercutiram positivamente na sensação de alívio da ansiedade dos pacientes em tratamento radioterápico e de seus familiares.

This study evaluated the relationship between anxiety levels and severity degrees of chronic orofacial pain of temporomandibular disorder in brazilian university students.150 volunteers (117 men and 33 women), with age ranging from 17 to 30 years, were subjects to this study. Spielberger's trait-state anxiety inventory was used to evaluate trait and state anxiety of the students, while examination for chronic orofacial pain was performed in accordance with the Research Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders (RDC/TMD). Association between anxiety levels and severity degrees of chronic orofacial pain was tested using the Chi-square test. The significance level was set at p.05.The results showed that 32.7% (n=49) of the subjects exhibited TMD, and the intensity of chronic orofacial pain was classified as degree 1 in 85.7% (n=42) and as degree 2 in 14.3% (n=7) of them. Based on the results of the Spielberger's trait-state anxiety inventory, the majority of the students had moderate anxiety (48.6% and 48.1%, respectively). The correlation between trait-anxiety levels and chronic orofacial pain degrees was significant and positive (p.05). However, no significant correlation was found to state-anxiety levels and chronic orofacial pain degrees (p.05).It was concluded that chronic orofacial pain of TMD could be present in university students and anxiety may be related.

With the increasing cost of health care and the growing constraints made by third party payers, in-hospital time for preoperative teaching is quickly being reduced. Seventy-two patients attended preoperative instruction either as an inpatient the day before surgery or as an outpatient 4-8 days before surgery. Anxiety and knowledge levels were measured before and after class and the evening before surgery. No differences were found between the groups on a measure of anxiety levels. Both groups demonstrated a moderate anxiety level with no significant change over the testing period. Using the knowledge pretest as a covariate, repeated measures analysis of variance suggested the knowledge gained with the class was significantly greater for the outpatient group than the inpatient group (P = 0.018). There was also a significant positive relationship between the knowledge score and knowing someone who had cardiac surgery (t = 2.34, d.f. = 66, P = 0.022). The results suggest that it makes little difference whether patients receive information up to a week before surgery or just the day before; therefore, the more economical preadmission teaching may be the path of choice.
