南極域での大気重力波観測実験LODEWAVEに向け、スーパープレッシャー気球の開発を進めている。2020年に開発され、耐圧性能、気密性能の要求仕様を満足した体積94m3のNPB01-4気球の体積を倍増させ、要求飛翔高度であった60hPaでの飛翔を可能にした体積182m3のスーパープレッシャー気球NPB02-1気球を開発し、その性能の評価を行った。この気球はポリエチレン皮膜に高張力繊維の網をかぶせることで耐圧性能を向上させ、内部にゴム気球を入れて皮膜を二重にすることで気密性能を強化した気球であり、気球の頭部には、気球内部気圧計測用の気圧計、ガス注入口、排気口が整備され、飛翔試験に利用できる構造を構築したものである。地上試験により、耐圧性能は3,190Pa以上、気密性能は254 時間にわたり正圧を保持する能力が確認された。これは、3kgのペイロードを搭載して、60hPaの気圧高度を254 時間に渡って飛翔可能であることを示しており、LODEWAVEで利用できる性能を有することが確認された。, A prototype super-pressure balloon for the LODEWAVE was developed. Based on the technologies developed for the 94 m3 super-pressure balloon NPB01-4, which was developed in 2020 and satisfied the requirements of the pressure resistance and airtightness except for the flight altitude, a 182 m3 balloon with twice the volume was developed to fly at the pressure altitude of 60 hPa and tested its capabilities. The balloon has the structure covering the polyethylene envelope with a net of high tensile fibers for the high pressure resistance and the double-layer envelope of the polyethylene film balloon and the rubber balloon for the airtightness. In addition, it also equips devices for the flight experiment, including the pressure gauge to measure the gas pressure inside the balloon, the gas input port, and the exhaust port at its top. 体積2,000 m3 の皮膜に網をかぶせたスーパープレッシャー気球の飛翔試験をB20-03実験とし実施した。皮膜に網をかぶせたスーパープレッシャー気球を気球に牽引されることなく飛翔させたのは初めてである。気球は通常どおり、セミダイナミック放球法で放球されたが、気球は放球直後から所期の上昇速度が得られず、さらに速度の低下が見られた。バラストを投下して5 m/s 以上の上昇速度を維持した後、安全な海域に到達した時点で、破壊機構を駆動し、気球を降下させた。この上昇速度低下の問題の調査を収集されたデータおよび、回収された気球の調査の両面から進めた。搭載カメラによる気球の映像からはガス漏れが発生したことが判明した。また、スプーラー解放直前まではロードセルによって測定されたスプーラーにかかる上向き張力に変化がなく、放球直後の上昇速度が予測よりも小さかったことから、それがスプーラー解放直後に発生したことが判明した。回収された気球の調査により、刃物で切り付けたような直線的でかつ縁に伸びがある特異なスリット状の穴が数100 個存在していることが見出された。同様の穴を再現する条件を検討し、網線が10 m/s 強の高速で衝突した際に衝撃破壊によって発生した可能性が高いことを見出した。この対策として皮膜を多層化すること、および、放球時に気球を凖静的にたてあげる新しい放球方法を用いることを検討している。, A flight test of a super-pressure balloon with a volume of 2,000 m3 covered by a net was conducted as a B20-03 experiment. This was the first time that this type of super-pressure balloon flew without being suspended from another balloon. The balloon was launched using the semi-dynamic launching method as usual, however, the ascending speed of the balloon was lower than expected immediately after the launching and was slowing down. Ballast were dropped to maintain the ascending speed of 5 m/s. After the balloon reached the safe area, the tear mechanism was functioned to break the balloon. The problem of the low ascending speed was investigated by analyzing the obtained data and recovered balloon. It was confirmed that the gas was leaked from the analysis of the balloon images obtained by the on-board camera, and was confirmed that the leak started after the spooler release from the constant upward tension of the spooler measured by the load cell just before the spooler release and the slow initial ascending speed of the balloon compared with the theoretical estimation. The examination of the recovered balloon revealed that the balloon was damaged by hundreds of unique slit holes with creep bands around the edges. After investigating the conditions for making similar holes, it is probable that it was caused by impact destruction that the net hit the balloon envelope with a speed of 10 m/s or more at the time of spooler release. A 94 m3 super-pressure balloon NPB01-4 was developed for the first trial production and tested its capability in the pressure resistance and the gas permeability. This balloon is based on the technologies covering the polyethylene balloon with high-tensile net for the pressure resistance and setting a rubber balloon inside the polyethylene balloon for the gas permeability. For the ground inflation test, the balloon withstood the differential pressure of 3,400 Pa and kept positive differential pressure for 289 hours. These capability shows that the balloon can fly at the atmospheric pressure of 85 hPa for 289 hours with a payload of 3 kg. These results gave us the clear prospect for the development of the super-pressure balloon for the LODEWAVE. Following technical subjects to be solved were also found : 1. Development of slightly larger balloon to fly at the altitude of 60 hPa to meet the requirement from the mission, 2. Stable deployment, 3. Durability beyond 289 hours. In addition, for the flight operation, developments of the technique to measure the inner pressure, the launching procedure, and the termination device are necessary. 我々は気球に高張力繊維の菱形の目の網をかぶせる手法をもちいて長時間飛翔が可能な軽いスーパープレッシャー気球の開発を進めている。2016 年に開発した体積2,000 m3 のNPB2-1 気球は、地上試験により、1,040 Pa の耐圧性能( 要求耐圧性能の倍) が確認されているが、網の固定点が引っ張られたことによって変形した皮膜から破壊したことが判明している。そこで、生産工数を増やすことなく固定点を増やせる縫い付け方法を検討し、二列直線縫いが適当であることを見出した。この方法は、従来のダブルジグザクステッチと比較すると、網を縫い針で傷付ける危険が小さいこともメリットである。まず、体積10 m3 の気球にこの方法を適用し、皮膜の溶着線上のすべての網の交点を固定したところ、10,000Pa 以上の耐圧性能を示すことが地上膨張試験によって確認された。次に、体積2,000 m3 の気球を製作し、1,020 Pa と先に試験した体積2,000 m3 の気球と同様の耐圧性能を示すことが確認された。今後、この固定方法を用いて、体積7,000 m3 の気球を製作し、飛翔試験を通じて、長時間飛翔が可能であることを実証する試験を実施する予定である。, We have been engaged in the development of a light super-pressure balloon for long duration flight using a method covering the balloon with diamond-shaped nets of high-tensile fibers. A 2,000 m3 balloon developed in 2016 burst from a deformed film, where the net was tied, with a differential pressure of 1,040 Pa, which is twice as large as required differential pressure. To avoid the deformation of a film, a simple sewing method to increase the number of the tied points without increasing the production man-hours was investigated to find a new sewing method, a two-line strait stitch. The stitch also has a merit to avoid a risk to damage the net with a sewing needle, comparing with the conventional double zigzag stitch. The sewing method was first adopted to a 10 m3 balloon, whose net was sewed with its film at all cross-points along the heat seal lines of films, to confirm its burst pressure higher than 10,000 Pa through a ground inflation test. Then, the sewing method was adopted to a 2,000 m3 balloon to confirm its burst pressure of 1,020 Pa, which is comparable to the previous burst test of the 2,000 m3 balloon. 我々は気球に高張力繊維の菱形の目の網をかぶせる手法をもちいて長時間飛翔が可能な軽いスーパープレッシャー気球の開発を進めている。この手法には気球重量を同体積のゼロプレッシャー気球と同程度とできる利点がある。我々は大重量を搭載できる大型のスーパープレッシャー気球の開発の一環として、1.網と網、網とフィルムをミシンで縫うことで結合する方法の開発、2.大重量の搭載機器を気球破壊用の引き裂き紐と干渉せずに吊り下げることができる尾部の構造の開発を行った。また、スーパープレッシャー気球に用いているポリエチレンフィルムが100 日間におよぶ長時間飛翔に耐えるほど十分に小さいガス透過率を有することを確認した。これらの知見に基いて体積5,000m3 のNPB5-1 気球を開発した。地上膨張試験を実施したところ、引き裂き機構と頭部構造の間のフィルムに応力集中が発生し、十分な耐圧性能が得られないことが判明した。網線長を3%短縮することでフィルムへの応力集中を緩和する改修を気球に施し、再度、地上膨張試験を行ったが気球が対称に展開せずに、十分な耐圧性能が発揮できないことが判明した。そこで、周方向はそのままに子午線方向が3 % 長いゴアを用いることとし、体積10m3 のNPB001-6 気球の地上膨張試験で対称に展開することを確認した。この方法で体積2,000m3 のNPB2-1気球を製作し、地上膨張試験を実施したところ、対称に展開することが確認されると共に、破壊圧が1,040 Pa であることが判明した。これは、40kgのペイロードを搭載して高度22 km の上空を長時間飛翔させることが可能であることを意味する。長時間飛翔が可能なスーパープレッシャー気球の具現化は我が国では初めてとなる快挙である。今後、重量や製作時間を増やすことなくより高い耐圧性能が達成可能な構造、製法を開発すると共に、体積7,000m3 の気球を開発し、飛翔試験を通じて、大重量の機器を搭載して長時間飛翔が可能であることを実証する試験を実施する予定である, We have been engaged in the development of a light super-pressure balloon for long duration flight using a method covering the balloon with diamond-shaped nets of high-tensile fibers. This method has merit that the expected weight of the balloon is comparable to that of a zero-pressure balloon with the same volume. We have developed following technologies for a large super-pressure balloon with a heavy payload ; 1. a method to connect the net each other and connect the net to the balloon film, using a sewing machine, 2. a bottom fitting to suspend a heavy payload without disturbing the function of the break code to rip up the balloon. We also measured the Helium gas permeability through the balloon film and confirmed its airtightness as a material for 100 day flight. Based on these technologies, we developed a balloon with a volume of 5,000m3. Through the ground inflation test, we found that the capability of the balloon to withstand the differential pressure was not sufficient due to the stress concentration at the balloon film between the top fitting and the rip panel structure. We repaired the balloon by shortening the net length by 3 % to relax the stress concentration on the balloon film and performed the ground inflation test again. We also found that the balloon was not able to withstand the expected differential pressure due to the unsymmetrical deployment. Then, we proposed to make a balloon setting the balloon film 3% longer than the net length along the meridian direction, keeping its circumferential length. A 10m3 balloon was developed and confirmed its symmetrical deployment through ground inflation test. Finally, we developed a 2,000m3 balloon using the method and confirmed its symmetrical deployment and its burst pressure of 1,040Pa through the ground inflation test. This result means that the balloon can fly a long duration flight at an altitude of 22km with a payload of 40kg. This is the first super-pressure balloon with a capability to perform long duration flight in Japan. 気球に高張力繊維の菱形の目の網をかぶせる手法を用いて、現状のゼロプレッシャー気球と同程度の重量のスーパープレッシャー気球の開発を進めている。2012 年に実施したB12-02 実験において発生した飛翔環境下での耐圧性能の劣化への対策として、フィルム長と網線長を一致させた直径3 m の気球を開発し、地上での常温膨張試験、-30度Cでの低温膨張、破壊試験を通じて改良が有効であることを確認した。2013年5月25日に、同型のSP 気球と2 kg のゴム気球を連結させた超小型タンデム気球システムの飛翔試験として日昇をまたがって飛翔させる実験を実施し、-60 ～-50度Cの低温環境下で耐圧性能6,280 Pa を有すること、2時間にわたり5,600 Pa の差圧に耐えること、地上実験でも観測されていた0.4 mm2 の小さな穴からのガス漏れが発生していることを確認した。また、日昇後の上昇速度は0.4m/sec と緩やかであり、気球内ガスの温度上昇の時定数3,000 秒で、20度Cの上昇が発生することが判明した。この試験を通じて、改良を加えた気球が成層圏での飛翔にあたって、微少なガス漏れを除き、問題がないことが確認された。, A light super-pressure balloon of which weight will be comparable to the weight of the zero-pressure balloon has been developed using a method to cover a balloon with a diamond-shaped net of high-tensile fibers. To solve a stress concentration problem found through the flight test of B12-02 in 2012, a new 3-m balloon setting the meridian length of the balloon gore film equal to the length of the net was developed. Through the ground inflation tests at room temperature and at -30 C , it was confirmed that the problem was solved and the balloon had sufficient capacity for the resist pressure. On May 25, 2013, a super-pressure balloon of the same model was launched in the tandem balloon configuration with 2 kg rubber balloons. It stayed at a level altitude before and after the sunrise. It was confirmed that the balloon could withstand the maximum differential pressure of 6,280 Pa, could withstand the differential pressure of 5,600 Pa for 2 hours, and there was a small gas leak through a hole with an area of 0.4 mm2 which was also found in the ground leakage test. It was also found that the ascending speed after the sunrise was gentle with a low speed of 0.4 m/sec, and the gas temperature rose by 20 C with a time constant of 3,000 sec.
