The article discusses various reports published within the issue which includes use of alcohol and other psychoactive drugs by high school students, overall impact of psychoactive substances on health and manifestation of mental distress and expressions of divergent behaviors.

Aim: to identify the need for brief intervention in a group of male users of a public health service. Method: This is a quantitative study of an exploratory and descriptive nature, whose subjects were recruited through a census. Results: It was found that 67% of the subjects had scores of occasional use, and one of the subjects presented scores indicating dependence. 31% had scores indicating abuse, suggesting, therefore, the possibility of a benefit of brief interventions. Discussion: The study subjects had low education levels and low incomes, two situations that can lead to social vulnerability. Of the subjects who presented scores indicating abusive use, some reported this pattern of consumption for two substances. Conclusion: From these results we highlight the relevance of the integration of brief interventions and evaluative tools related to substance dependence in nursing practice in different health services. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of an Integrative Community Therapy (TCI) intervention program on the self-esteem and self-efficacy of psychoactive substance users. This is a quasi-experimental intervention study, conducted with 21 inmates from three therapeutic communities in the Araguaia Valley region, who underwent a six TCI wheels in the first half of 2018. The collection took place in three stages, using a semi-structured questionnaire, the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale and the Perceived General Self-Efficacy Scale, evaluated by non-parametric statistical method. The results revealed that the average age of the participants was 37.57 years, being brown and single. The use of TCI helped to improve their self-esteem and self-efficacy levels when compared to the initial stage (p=0.002; p=0.003). Is was concluded that the use of TCI had positive effects on self-esteem and self-efficacy, pointing it as an important, affordable and affordable health care technology that should be included in the therapeutic plan of these users.
