Self-efficacy, self-esteem, self-concept, and self-blame have been proposed as potential factors in the development and maintenance of cybervictimization in a unidirectional, but also in a cyclic paradigm. Our objective was to synthesize the existing evidence and assess potential moderators of the relationship between these self-related cognitions and cybervictimization. We searched five electronic databases (PsycINFO, PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science and Cochrane) from inception until October 2022. A total of 81 studies were included, encompassing a cohort of 110,095 children and adolescents with a mean age of 11.51 years. Nearly half of the studies were rated as having fair quality. Across the examined self-related cognitions, high level of cybervictimization was associated with low level of self-concept, low self-efficacy and low self-esteem. Cognitions related to self-blame were not statistically significantly associated with cybervictimization in our review. These findings included high heterogeneity and were consistent across sensitivity analyses. Meta-regression analyses revealed that the number of participants significantly moderated the relationship between self-esteem and cybervictimization, but the percentage of victims and mean age of participants did not exhibit significant moderation effects. This preregistered systematic review and meta-analysis showed modest yet statistically significant correlations between self-related cognitions and cybervictimization. The discussion addresses the implications for future research and anti-cyberbullying programs. Background: Virtual reality (VR) may enhance the effectiveness of psychological interventions for acute pain. We conducted a meta-analysis to assess the efficacy and safety of VR-based interventions for pain associated with medical procedures. Methods: We searched PubMed, EMBASE, the Cochrane Library, and PsycINFO until June 17th 2018. We identified randomized controlled trials (RCTs), comparing VR-based psychological interventions to usual care, for pain intensity (primary outcome) or affective and cognitive components of pain (secondary outcomes), assessed real-time or retrospectively. Two independent reviewers performed study selection and data extraction. Risk of bias was independently evaluated by three raters using the revised Cochrane Collaboration tool. A random-effects model using the Paule and Mandel estimator was used for pooling effect sizes. Results: 27 RCTs (1452 patients) provided enough data for meta-analysis. Compared to usual care, VR-based interventions reduced pain intensity both real-time (9 RCTs, Hedges' g = 0.95, 95% CI 0.32–1.57) and retrospectively (22 RCTs, g = 0.87, 95% CI 0.54–1.21). Results were similar for cognitive (8 RCTs, g = 0.82, 95% CI 0.39–1.26) and affective pain components (14 RCTs, g = 0.55, 95% CI 0.34–0.77). There was marked heterogeneity, which remained similarly high in sensitivity analyses. Across domains, few trials were rated as low risk of bias and there was evidence of publication bias. Adverse events were rare. Conclusions: Though VR-based interventions reduced pain for patients undergoing medical procedures, inferring clinical effectiveness is precluded by the predominance of small trials, with substantial risk of bias, and by incomplete reporting. Abstract Background Research suggests that Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is associated with autonomic nervous system dysregulation, but the findings were mixed. Method We conducted a literature review and meta-analysis to quantify the effect of ADHD on vagally-mediated heart rate variability (HRV). PsycINFO, PubMed, Web of Science and Scopus, were searched for case-control or cohort studies reporting measures of vagally-mediated HRV, after a task demand, among individuals with ADHD relative to healthy subjects. Results Thirteen articles comprising a total of 869 patients with ADHD and 909 healthy participants were included. As compared to controls, ADHD patients had reduced vagally-mediated HRV, corresponding to a small effect size (Hedge's g = 0.20; CI 95% 0.01 to 0.40). Heterogeneity was high (Q (18) = 76.59, p < 0.001; I² = 77%). There was some evidence of small study effects. Task type, respiration rate assessment and associated comorbid disorders were statistically significant moderators. Conclusions These findings provide evidence for the associations between ADHD and autonomic dysregulation. Future studies addressing HRV reactivity are needed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Anxiety and depressive disorders are often comorbid. Transdiagnostic and tailored treatments seem to be promising approaches in dealing with comorbidity. Although several primary studies have examined the effects of Internet-delivered cognitive behavior therapy (iCBT) for anxiety and depression, no meta-analysis including different types of iCBT that address comorbidity has been conducted so far. We conducted systematic searches in databases up to 1 July 2016. Only randomized trials comparing transdiagnostic/tailored iCBT for adult anxiety and/or depression with control groups were included. Nineteen randomized trials with a total of 2952 participants that met inclusion criteria were analyzed. The quality of the studies was high, however the blinding criteria were not fulfilled. The uncontrolled effect size (Hedges’g) of transdiagnostic/tailored iCBT on anxiety and depression outcomes was large and medium for quality of life. The controlled effect size for iCBT on anxiety and depression outcomes was medium to large (anxiety:g = .82, 95% CI: .58–1.05, depression:g = .79, 95% CI: .59–1.00) and medium on quality of life (g = .56, 95% CI: .37–.73). Heterogeneity was small (quality of life) to moderate (anxiety, depression). There was a large effect on generic outcome measures and a moderate effect on comorbidities. When compared to disorder-specific treatments there were no differences on anxiety and quality of life outcomes, however there were differences in depression outcomes. Transdiagnostic and tailored iCBT are effective interventions for anxiety disorders and depression. Simple Summary: Current prognostication systems have inherent limitations associated with the prediction of recurrence risk from thyroid cancer (TC). Recent studies identified associations between specific levels of microRNAs and aggressive TC clinicopathological features. The objective of this research was to uncover existing knowledge regarding dysregulated microRNAs in conjunction with the long-term prognosis in TC patients. We also set out to identify specific microRNAs that could serve as prognostic biomarkers in different subtypes of TC. The findings emerging from the meta-analysis revealed that elevated expression levels of miR-146b, miR-221, and miR-222 were significantly associated with recurrence and suggested their possible prognostic ability, especially in the subgroup of papillary thyroid cancer patients. All these results could aid decision-making for clinicians and optimize the surgical management of patients with TC. Also, they could help to refine the complex prognostication system and implement microRNA-targeted therapy of TC in the future. Thyroid cancer (TC) includes various phenotypes, from indolent to highly aggressive cancer. The limitations of the current prognostication systems to predict the recurrence risk and the variability in expression of the genes involved in the thyroid carcinogenesis uncover the need for new prognostic biomarkers by taking into account potential epigenetic differences. We aimed to summarize the current knowledge regarding the prognostic impact of microRNAs (miRNAs) in TC. A literature search was conducted in PubMed, Embase, Scopus, and Web of Science databases. Both upregulated and downregulated miRNAs are significantly correlated with worse overall survival (hazard ratio (HR) = 5.94, 95% CI: 2.73–12.90, p < 0.001; HR = 0.51, 95% CI: 0.26–0.96, p = 0.048) disease/recurrence-free survival (HR = 1.58, 95% CI: 1.08–2.32, p = 0.003; HR = 0.37, 95%, CI: 0.24–0.60, p < 0.001). Sensitivity analysis revealed a significant association between the higher expression of miR-146b, miR-221, and miR-222 and the recurrence of papillary TC (OR = 9.11, 95% CI 3.00 to 27.52; p < 0.001; OR = 3.88, 95% CI 1.34 to 11.19, p < 0.001; OR = 6.56, 95% CI 2.75 to 15.64, p < 0.001). This research identified that miR-146b, miR-221, and miR-222 could serve as potential prognostic biomarkers in TC, particularly in PTC.
