Water reduction can be electrochemically promoted by zinc under very mild conditions, as demonstrated by the formation of the complex [Zn(H2O)6][Zn3(L)3(μ3-O)], whose anion consists of a Zn3O4cluster incorporating a μ3-oxo anion. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
