Effective personal protection is crucial for controlling infectious disease spread. However, commonly used personal protective materials such as disposable masks lack antibacterial/antiviral function and may lead to cross infection. Herein, a polyethylene glycol-assisted solvent-free strategy is proposed to rapidly synthesize a series of the donor-acceptor metal-covalent organic frameworks (MCOFs) (i.e., GZHMU-2, JNM-1, and JNM-2) under air atmosphere and henceforth extend it via in situ hot-pressing process to prepare MCOFs based films with photocatalytic disinfect ability. Best of them, the newly designed GZHMU-2 has a wide absorption spectrum (200 to 1500 nm) and can efficiently produce reactive oxygen species under sunlight irradiation, achieving excellent photocatalytic disinfection performance. After in situ hot-pressing as a film material, the obtained GZHMU-2/NMF can effectively kill E. coli (99.99%), S. aureus (99%), and H1N1 (92.5%), meanwhile possessing good reusability. Noteworthy, the long-term use of a GZHMU-2/NWF-based mask has verified no damage to the living body by measuring the expression of mouse blood routine, lung tissue, and inflammatory factors at the in-vivo level., (© 2023 Wiley‐VCH GmbH.)

Chemodynamic therapy (CDT) has emerged as a promising approach to cancer treatment, which can break the intracellular redox state balance and result in severe oxidative damage to biomolecules and organelles with the advantages of being less dependent on external stimulation, having deep tissue-healing abilities, and being resistant to drug resistance. There is considerable interest in developing CDT drugs with high efficiency and low toxicity. In this study, a new guanidinium-based biological metal covalent organic framework (Bio-MCOF), GZHMU-1@Mo, is rationally designed and synthesized as a multifunctional nanocatalyst in tumor cells for enhanced CDT. The DFT calculation and experimental results showed that due to the ability of MoO 4 2- ion to promote electron transfer and increase the redox active site, Cu 3 clusters and MoO 4 2- ions in GZHMU-1@Mo can synergistically catalyze the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) from oxygen and H 2 O 2 in tumor cells, as well as degrade intracellular reducing substances, GSH and NADH, so as to disrupt the redox balance in tumor cells. Moreover, GZHMU-1@Mo exhibits a potent killing effect on tumor cells under both normal oxygen and anaerobic conditions. Further in vitro and in vivo antiproliferation studies revealed that the GZHMU-1@Mo nanoagent displays a remarkable antiproliferation effect and effectively inhibits tumor growth. Taken together, our study provides an insightful reference benchmark for the rational design of Bio-MCOF-based nanoagents with efficient CDT.

The anhydrous proton conductivity of Im@IEF-11 resulting from the integration of imidazole and porous IEF-11 has been investigated, and the highest proton conductive value can reach up to 7.64 × 10 -2 S cm -1 . Furthermore, IEF-11 is also developed to reduce CO 2 due to its reasonable structure and suitable energy band, and its CO formation rate is 31.86 μmol g -1 h -1 .

Due to the low vapor pressure of aniline, it is challenging to develop a specific rapid fluorescence detection material for low concentrations of aniline gas, which is suspected to result in carcinogenicity when people are exposed by ingestion, inhalation, and skin contact. Herein, the easy-preparing Schiff base ligands were employed to construct the binuclear cadmium(II) compounds featuring a good plane and fine luminescent property, and then, the end groups were changed, making the compounds metalloligands to further build the 3D metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), named MECS-2 . It is found that MECS-2 can achieve specific luminescent enhancement response for aniline gas. Furthermore, a large-scale MECS-2a film could be easily prepared by electrospinning nano MECS-2 , which presents the highly efficient and visual detection for aniline gas with the luminescent enhancement effect up to 20 times and good repeatability. Our work provides a good example for the efficient construction of MOF-based films with the fluorescence detection function for organic aromatic gases.

Abstract Background The ZIF-8-coated magnetic regenerated cellulose-coated nanoparticles (ZIF-8@cellu@Fe3O4) were successfully prepared and characterized. The result showed that ZIF-8 was successfully composited on to the surface of the cellulose-coated Fe3O4 nanoparticles by co-precipitation method. Moreover, the glucose oxidase (GOx, from Aspergillus niger) was efficiently immobilized by the ZIF-8@Cellu@Fe3O4 nanocarriers with enhanced catalytic activities. The enzyme loading was 94.26 mg/g and the enzyme activity recovery was more than 124.2%. This efficiently immobilized enzyme exhibits promising applications in biotechnology, diagnosis, biosensing, and biomedical devices. Conclusions A new core–shell magnetic ZIF-8/cellulose nanocomposite (ZIF-8@Cellu@Fe3O4) was fabricated and structurally characterized. Glucose oxidase (GOx) was successfully immobilized by the biocompatible ZIF-8@Cellu@Fe3O4 with high protein loading (94.26 mg/g) and enhanced relative activity recovery (124.2%).

In this study, a novel polyoxometalates-based metal-organic frameworks (POMOFs) microsphere, that is [Ni(phen)H2O]·V2O6 (phen is o-phenanthroline), have been successfully fabricated by one-pot simple hydro(solvent)thermal reaction through regulating different solvent ratios (H2O/EtOH). The experimental results show that the solvent effect has a significant effect on the micro-morphology and the catalytic activity of the materials. The dual-function in electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution and catalytic reduction of Cr6+ of the as-prepared POMOFs microspheres have been also studied. The POMOF(V,Ni)_3 catalyst prepared in the medium of pure ethanol have the best catalytic activity, in which the overpotential of 159 mV for the electrode is comparable to that of MoS2-based electrode material, and the rate constant k reaches 0.14 in the process of catalytic reduction of Cr6+. Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) provide an ideal platform for loading various guests owing to their available space, and can be developed as a class of multifunctional materials. Herein, we cover the design and synthesis of two kinds of exchanged frameworks with multifunctional applications based on H3ImDC and In(NO3)3·2H2O through guest exchange inside the framework. The guest ammonium ion (NH4+) and [Ru(2,2′-bipyridine)3]2+ (Rubpy) are selected to exchange the dimethylammonium cation (Me2NH2+) encapsulated within In-MOF, giving birth to two kinds of new MOFs, named NH4+@In-MOF and Rubpy@In-MOF respectively. The proton conduction of NH4+@In-MOF and the CO2 photoreduction of Rubpy@In-MOF are investigated. Under different test conditions, the proton conductive behaviors of NH4+@In-MOF are evaluated and the best proton conductive value can reach up to 9.81 × 10−3 S cm−1. Compared to the original In-MOF, Rubpy@In-MOF exhibits a significantly enhanced CO2 photoreduction performance under a pure CO2 atmosphere. The reaction of pyridine-2,3-dicarboxylic acid (2,3-pydcH2) with CuI and Ln2O3 under hydrothermal conditions generated a series of new one-, two-, and three-dimensional coordination polymers, namely, {[Cu3Ln2(2,3-pydc)6(H2O)12] ·12H2O} n [Ln = La( 1), Nd( 2)], {[Cu3Ln2(2,3-pydc)6(H2O)8] ·6H2O} n [Ln = Sm( 3), Gd( 4)], and {[Cu3Ln2(2,3-pydc)6(H2O)10] ·10H2O} n [Ln = Tb( 5), Ho( 6), Er( 7), Yb( 8), Lu( 9)]. The results show that compounds 1 and 2 (type I structure) are 1-D Cu-4f rhombic lattice chains that are formed through assembly of two building block units Cu3(pydc)6 and Ln(H2O)6. Compounds 3- 4 (type II structure) are 2-D layers that are constructed from building block units [Cu(pydc)2(H2O)2] μ2-bridging adjacent 1-D rhombic lattice chains -[(Cu2(pydc)4)-(La(H2O)4)] n-. Complexes 5- 9 (type III structure) are also isomorphous and have the same 3-D network structures with 1-D channels along the c axis, and are formed by assembly of building block units Cu3(pydc)6 with Ln(H2O)5. The progressive structural variation from the 1-D chains 1- 2 to 2-D layers 3- 4 and to 3-D frameworks 5- 9 is attributed to the lanthanide contraction effect and to the different coordination modes of 2,3-pydc2-. A strategy for the synthesis of covalent organic frameworks with open docking sites is developed. The docking sites are ordered on the channel walls and structurally predesignable for meeting various types of noncovalent interactions, thus opening a way towards designing supramolecular materials based on crystalline porous organic frameworks. KVPC exhibit high proton conductive behaviours due to particles with different sizes. This is the first metal organic-phosphate framework in which proton conductivity has been tuned by different particle sizes. • KVPC exhibit different conductive behaviors due to particles with different sizes. • The conductivity of KVPC-S is high to 1.15 × 10−2 S cm−1 at 40 °C under 95% RH. • The conductivity of membranes reach up to 1.19 × 10-3 S cm−1 and remain no significant change within 6 h. The proton conductions of open-framework metal phosphates K 2 [(VO) 2 (HPO 4) 2 (C 2 O 4)] (KVPC) with large and small particle sizes, namely KVPC-L and KVPC-S, have been evaluated. Varied particle sizes result in different proton conductive behaviors. KVPC-S exhibits a high proton conductivity of 1.15 × 10−2 S cm−1 under 40 °C, 95% RH and possesses a stable proton conduction for 4 h. Furthermore, proton conductivities of composite membranes are investigated, and the value can reach up to 1.19 × 10-3 S cm−1 under 60 °C, 95% RH and remain no significant change within 6 h. The pre-designable porous structures found in covalent organic frameworks (COFs) render them attractive as a molecular platform for addressing environmental issues such as removal of toxic heavy metal ions from water. However, a rational structural design of COFs in this aspect has not been explored. Here we report the rational design of stable COFs for Hg(II) removal through elaborate structural design and control over skeleton, pore size, and pore walls. The resulting framework is stable under strong acid and base conditions, possesses high surface area, has large mesopores, and contains dense sulfide functional termini on the pore walls. These structural features work together in removing Hg(II) from water and achieve a benchmark system that combines capacity, efficiency, effectivity, applicability, selectivity, and reusability. Damaged skin is prone to recurrent bacterial infections, which hinder proper wound healing and exacerbate inflammation. Urgent attention is required to devise versatile dressings possessing antibacterial and anti-inflammatory attributes to facilitate wound recovery. In this study, we engineered a photo-responsive metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) gel, targeting bacteria, and endowed it with antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects to address infected wound healing. On the one hand, the anionic MOF was choose to support cationic natural drug Berberine (BBR) to achieve slow release of anti-inflammatory drugs. On the other hand, the incorporation of Ag nanoparticles onto MOFs not only facilitates the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) via photocatalysis under visible light but also furnishes sites for boric acid group attachment to target bacteria and expedites ROS transfer. The resultant MOFs@Ag-B@BBR exhibited potent photodynamic antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and MRSA at a low concentration of 37.5 µg mL−1, surpassing the efficacy of most reported MOFs-based nano-antimicrobials. Upon application of the MOFs@Ag-B@BBR composite hydrogel to infected wounds, the released BBR, in conjunction with photodynamic antibacterial action, significantly mitigated inflammatory responses and fostered wound healing. Abstract: Three isostructural lanthanide complexes, [Ln2(H2O)4(DMSO)](CuI)4(Ina)4(ox)[HIna=isonicotinic acid; H2ox=oxalic acid; Ln=Pr(1), Sm(2), Eu(3)], have been synthesized under the solvothermal condition and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, X-ray powder diffraction (PXRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and elemental analysis (EA) and IR spectra. Complexes 1–3 present 2-D pillar-chained frameworks and consist of two distinct chain-like motifs of inorganic [Cu4I4]n cluster chains and organic Ln-carboxyl-oxalic [Ln2(μ 2-Ina)2(Ina)2(μ 2-ox)]n chains. The 13C NMR of HIna indicates ox2− in 1–3 is generated by the in situ decomposition of HIna. Additionally, the photoluminescent properties of 1–3 are also discussed. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: One new 3-D PbII complex, {[Pb2(tza)(μ 3-OH)(μ 3-Cl)(μ 4-Cl)]n (1) (Htza=tetrazole-1-acetic acid), has been synthesized from the reaction of tetrazole-1-acetic acid (Htza) with PbCl2 at pH=8.5 under hydro-solvent condition and characterized by X-ray single crystal diffraction, elemental analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, and IR spectra. The results show that the coordination chemistry of the multi-dentate ligand Htza on PbII ion has good pH sensitivity. At pH=5 and 7, two once reported 3-D framework complexes {[Pb(tza)2]n (2) and [Pb(tza)(μ 3-Cl)]n (3) are obtained, respectively. And then at pH=8.5, the resultant three-dimensional complex 1 presents the pillar-layer framework network with a thickness of 8.25Å of layer [Pb2(μ 3-OH)(μ 2-O)2(μ 3-Cl)(μ 4-Cl)]n, in which there still exists the μ 3-bridging mode of OH− group and the μ 2-carboxyl oxygen atom besides the μ 3- and μ 4-bridging manners of the Cl− ion. Furthermore, the luminescent property of complex 1 has also been investigated, and the result exhibits blue photoluminescence in the solid state at room temperature, which shows that this complex may be a good candidate for photoactive material. The invasion area of red imported fire ants (RIFAs) in China continues to expand due to factors such as ecological changes and human activities, and the resulting damage is becoming increasingly severe. The development of smart nanopesticides that respond to environmental stimuli response with precisely controlled release has great potential in improving insecticidal effects. In this work, a smart pH and α-amylase dual stimuli-responsive pesticide delivery system was constructed by combining mono-(6-amino-6-deoxy)-β-cyclodextrin (β-CD-NH 2) with zeolitic imidazole skeleton-90 (ZIF-90) nanoparticles (IDC@ZIF-90-CD) loaded with indoxacarb. The average particle size of the prepared IDC@ZIF-90-CD was 249 nm, and the loading efficiency was 18.43%. The β-CD-NH 2 coating on the surface of nanoparticles reduced the photodegradation of indoxacarb and prevented the premature release of the active ingredient. In vitro release kinetics showed that IDC@ZIF-90-CD rapidly released IDC under acidic and amylase conditions, consistent with the oral and intestinal environment of RIFAs. The results of bioactivity tests showed that IDC@ZIF-90-CD enhanced the toxicity of IDC toward RIFAs by increasing feeding and damaging intestinal cells. The mortality rate of the IDC@ZIF-90-CD-treated group was significantly higher than that of the IDC EC-treated group at 72 h. The nontargeted metabolomic results showed that IDC@ZIF-90-CD affected the metabolism of RIFAs by interfering with the metabolic pathways of six amino acids and one amino acid transport carrier, whereas IDC EC interfered with only two of these amino acid metabolic pathways. • The 3D Co/NCNS/CNT nanocomposite is prepared by the carbonization of MOF. • The Co/NCNS/CNT can effectively adsorb and catalyze the lithium polysulfides. • Co/NCNS/CNT serves as the separator coating in Li-S battery with high performance. Lithium sulfur (Li-S) battery is regarded as one of the most promising next generation high-energy storage systems. However, the shuttle effect and sluggish redox kinetics of lithium polysulfides always compromise the cycling performance of Li-S batteries. Herein, an effective strategy is presented to fabricate high-performance Li–S batteries using a 3D network-like nanocomposite of Co/NCNS/CNT, which is obtained via the well-distributed composition of the carbon nanotubes (CNTs) (in situ formed and added) with nitrogen-doped carbon nanosheets (NCNS) as well as Co nanoparticles from carbonization of the nitrogen-rich bio-MOF-100 nanosheets at an inert atmosphere. Owing to good sulphiphilicity, excellent conductivity and high catalytic activity from Co-N x and Co nanoparticles, Co/NCNS/CNT nanocomposite could effectively adsorb and catalyze the fast conversion of lithium polysulfides. When serving as the separator coating for Li-S cells, the cell shows excellent performances with an initial capacity of 972.4 mAh/g at 2C under a sulfur loading of 2.0 mg/cm2, and excellent cycling stability with the capacity decay of 0.05% per cycle during the 1000 long-term cycles. Furthermore, even at a high sulfur loading of 5 mg/cm2, the specific capacity of 522.1 mAh/g (2.61 mAh/cm2) can be maintained after 500 cycles at 1 C, thus providing a promising path toward advanced Li–S batteries.
