The goal of this article is to give an overview of his life and achievements. Rarely has an individual not only in Croatia but in the world had influence on his profession as I. Mamuzić his own – metallurgy. He was involved and worked in all metallurgical areas: science, profession, education, organising of Faculty or Institute, Symposiums, editing, popularisation and responsability for the profession and he is an author of the history of metallurgy on the territory of Croatia, during 6000 years. In Croatian Bibliografphy base CROSBI registration works. By the same conditions in foreign bibliography ORCID works. He participated even in the education of 47 generations students (1963–2010. He received 75 various acknowledgments etc. He is an exceptional personality as individual, scientist, pedagoge, and professional. Ilija Mamuzić has achieved plenty, not because he had or was obliged to, but because he wanted to. He didn’t work to live, but to live to work.

This is the call for 8th International Symposium of Croatian Metallurgical Society (SHMD `2025) which will be held in Zagreb, Croatia from April 17-18 2025.

The paper analyzes some indicators of the production activity of Ukraine’s metallurgical plants, which are under the auspices of Ukrtruboprom association for May-August 2022. Mathematical modeling of pipe production process forecast based on polynomial regression analysis was performed. The presented mathematical models provide adequate results for predicted indicators of economic activity of enterprises selected for analysis. The Russian military operations’ negative impact on the hostilities’ conduct in Ukraine is shown.

Announcement of the 16th International Symposium of Croatian Metallurgical Society „Materials and Metallurgy“ which will be held in Zagreb, April 20-21 2023.

For the interval 1962-2022 y, during the continuos publication last 60 years, in Metalurgija Journal Authors from 40 countries from Mexico to China (all 5 continent ) have publish. The goal of the Article is give List of Papers published in this interval, 199 issues or 238 numbers, 2721 scientific and technical, and 287 contributions (total 3008 papers ) of Authors whose investigation results and ideas have been examined and found on the pages of this Journal. The paper considers complex intensification features of spheroidizing annealing of low-carbon steels and possible technological realizations of intensive annealing modes in current lines. The research aims to reveal the intensification nature of the steel’s spheroidizing due to the non-isothermal holding and an internal coolant for the metal heating. That allows a significant reduction of the spheroidizing annealing process while improving the steel product’s technological properties – providing a high dispersion and homogeneity of the structure across the entire plane of its section. The multiprocessor computing system with its mathematical and IT software for modeling the heat treatment modes of metal billets effectively controls the processes.

The article is devoted the problem to researh the materials thermophysical properties by the inverse methods. Corresponding class of mathematical models is derived. The main research purpose is that the simulation models processing procedure as those that are controlled by input parameters, reduce, on the residual principle basis, to an extreme formulation. This approach allows to develop effective algorithms for solving quotient problems on simulation models of arbitrary accuracy order with adaptation of time modes of a thermophysical experiment. A package of applied problems had been developed for solving the coefficient problems of the heat-conductiving with the methods of mathematical simulation. Creation of package had been carried out considering the requirements of the object-oriented programming.

In the period after 1945 until 1990 Croatia had several metallurgical companies and acceptable production. In ex-Yugoslavia Craotia was the only manufacturer of seamless pipes among 34 countries in the world Steelwork Sisak, with an annual production of about 140.000 t. It was an important manufacturer of welded pipes of over 200.000 t per year, strip and billets till 250.000 t/y, in addition to cold processing (drawing, pilgering) about 10.000 t per year. Steel production (2 Siemens – Martin furnaces) and 1 electric furnace together with 2 high furnaces (of 150 m3 production till 200.000 t/y was about 360.000 t per year, and up to 850.000 t coke per year were produced in Koksara / Coke Plant Bakar. (Note: Per year in 1990 until 2014 this plants were form down and put out operation). In monograph Đ. Development of improved equation for better accuracy of calculation of stationary creep rate of creep resisting steels. Effect of acting stress components in particles disjunction matrix. Effect of increase of number of ferrite lattice vacancies.

The paper proposes a variant for solving the problem of reduction of longitudinal residual stresses in near-root region of a circumferential welded joint of section of steam pipeline by FEM simulation of the stress-strain state of repaired section of a circumferential weld in the zone of lack of root penetration on a thin-wall shell of 89 mm diameter and 6 mm wall thickness from steel 20. The result of solving the problem is total distribution of stresses and residual plastic deformations in the repaired zone.

Mechanical properties of a steam tube made of CrMo creep resistant steel are analysed in this contribution after up to 2,6•105 hours service life in creep conditions at temperature 530 °C and calculated stress level in the tube wall 46,5 MPa. During service life there were in the steel gradual micro structure changes, fi rst pearlite spheroidization, precipitation, coaugulation and precipitate coarsening. Nevertheless the strength and deformation properties of the steel (Re, Rm, A5, Z), and the resistance to brittle fracture and the creep strength limit, were near to unchanged after 2,1•105 hours in service. The steam tube is now in service more than 2,6•105 h.

The main purpose of this paper is to give a mathematical description of flow stress of examined aluminium alloys on the basis of upsetting tests perdormed in a servohydraulic plastomer. Deformation curves have been described by means of the Sellars-Tegart-Garofalo equation, with the aid of linear regression analysis by the neural network method implemented in the NEUREX program.

Ti-Nb alloys are of a large potential for industrial, as well as biomedical utilisation. Oxygen content in the alloy is a parameter influencing its properties and cannot be neglected. The main focus of this paper is on observation of influence of annealing time on oxygen content in the structure of Ti – 20,7 (at.)% Nb alloy. Four groups of the samples were annealed at the temperature of 800 °C from 15 to 60 minutes with 15 min. step. As it was proven by the analysis, the oxygen content increased with increasing annealing time. Moreover, microhardness measurements showed increasing trend of HV microhardness value with increasing oxygen content.

First the paper presents a review of steel production of the tubes in world: possible potencial is about 110 × 106 the tons (35 × 106 seamless tubes, rest welding tubes). In 2007. y. was record volume of 88,6 ×106 tons in world; 6,5% of total production of steel in world. Ratio-weldeds tubes: seamless tubes 70:30%. Further in the article are presented urgent the problems of the pipe and tube industry.

The article gives a review of selected new technologies of materials forming. That is selected 10 procedures, first, high pressure torsion processing, at the end, metal injection molding. All the new procedures have good performance and in the future for expect more the application in industry.

SPD methods are used to convert coarse grain metals and alloys into ultrafine grained (UFG) materials. Obtained UFG materials then possess improved mechanical and physical properties which destine them for a wide commercial use. This paper, in one direction, looks into historical development of SPD processes and their effect at obtaining fine crystalline structure, and on the other side also partially focuses on development of UFG structure and its stability in commercial pure aluminium as a function of strain and post-deformation annealing applied.

The paper deals with structure and properties development of AHSS (advance high-strength steel) and UHSS (ultra high-strength steel) steel grades for various groups of automotive parts. C-Mn-Si type steel properties are evaluated based on the results of laboratory controlled rolling and cooling. The important influence on mechanical and plastic properties, amount of residual austenite (RA) and final structural type has, except for cooling rate, also starting temperature of intensive cooling (TIC) which follows after hot plastic deformations. If TIC is from interval of 620-760°C the final structure predominantly consists of ferrite with RA. Mostly acicular ferrite with RA, as well as bainite with RA was obtained when TIC was kept in the range of 760-850°C.
