The efficiency of mine rescue operations largely depends on how quickly efforts to localize and mitigate an accident are initiated. Given the remoteness of some mining enterprises, a decision was made to form auxiliary mine rescue teams composed of miners. However, there is ongoing debate regarding the effectiveness of the rescue operations carried out by these auxiliary teams. This paper presents data on the assessment of the readiness of auxiliary mine rescue teams in Russian coal mines. A survey of professional mine rescuers was conducted across all units and platoons, focusing on key aspects of auxiliary team operations. The results, based on expert evaluations, revealed the main challenges in training auxiliary team members and highlighted areas for improving the regulatory and methodological framework for mine rescue tactics. The second part of the paper presents the results of control-tactical exercises held at seven mines. These unannounced exercises took place at the end of a work shift and evaluated a wide range of knowledge, skills, abilities, and physical fitness among the auxiliary teams. Key evaluations included the accuracy of task allocation, tactical training, preparation for mine descent, the use of rescue equipment, first aid skills, theoretical knowledge, and physical fitness.

During the coal mining process, a large amount of waste such as coal gangue and coal washing water is generated. The heavy metal pollutants in those wastes migrate and diffuse into the surrounding soil and water environment through sedimentation, runoff, leaching and other processes, posing a threat to the ecological environment. In order to study the heavy metal pollution in an abandoned coal mine area and to evaluate its ecological hazard risk, the contents of Cu, Pb, Zn, As, Cr, Ni, Hg, Cd elements in the coal gangue, water and soil samples of the mining area were detected. The single factor index method and potential ecological hazard index method were used to analyze the heavy metal pollution and its potential ecological hazard risk. The heavy metal pollution in the soil downstream of the coal washing plant in the mining area was mainly studied. The improved BCR continuous extraction method was used to analyze the forms of heavy metal elements (Cu, Zn, Cd) in the soil samples and the risk assessment coding method was employed to evaluate the bioavailability and environmental risks of heavy metal elements. The results show that: ① on average, the heavy metal contents in the coal gangue of the coal mine area are relatively low, with only Cr element content being slightly higher than that in soil. Moreover, the heavy metal element contents in the coal gangue do not exceed the risk intervention values for the soil of agricultural land, which has a little impact on heavy metal pollution in the soil. ② The heavy metal contents in the mine area’ exceed the standard, including that of Cu, Zn, Cd, Ni and As elements, and the Cd pollution is relatively serious. The pollution areas of Cu, Zn, and Ni elements are mainly concentrated in the western and southeastern parts of the gangue hill, with a certain overlap in spatial distribution. The As element pollution is distributed in the northeastern part of the gangue hill, while the Cd element pollution is widely distributed in the mine area, with moderate to severe pollution. ③ The Cd and Hg elements have potential ecological hazard risk, with a higher risk for Cd element. The comprehensive potential ecological hazard risk (RI) of heavy metal elements is mainly moderate to strong. ④ The contents of heavy metal elements in the soil downstream of the coal washing plant show an overall decreasing trend along the water flow direction, with the Cd element pollution being more severe, and the Cu, Zn, Ni, As element pollution concentrated within 200 m downstream of the coal washing plant. The heavy metal element contents of the profile sample shows a decreasing trend in the vertical direction, with no accumulation in the vertical direction. ⑤ The groundwater quality in the mine area is good, and the pH and the contents of heavy metal elements in the mine water meet the limit values of Class III surface water quality standards. The discharge of mine water drainage has a little impact on heavy metal pollution in the soil. ⑥ The proportions of acid extractable Cu and Zn elements are low, with low bioavailability, while that of Cd element is high, presenting a high-extremely high risk, with strong bioavailability and high environmental risk. Based on the current situation of heavy metal pollution in the mining area, it is recommended to further strengthen the prevention and control of heavy metal pollution, strengthen the source control, monitoring of agricultural food safety, and the investigation and research on the Cd element pollution.

Abstract A simple and flexible mass balance approach was applied to observations of XCH4 from TROPOMI to estimate CH4 emissions over Shanxi Province, including the impacts of advective transport, pressure transport, and atmospheric diffusion. High-frequency eddy-covariance flux observations were used to constrain the driving terms of the mass balance equation. This equation was then used to calculate day-to-day and 5 km × 5 km grided CH4 emissions from May 2018 to July 2022 based on TROPOMI RPRO column CH4 observations. The Shanxi-wide emissions of CH4, 126 ± 58.8 ug/m2/s, shows a fat tail distribution and high variability on a daily time scale (the 90th percentile is 2.14 times the mean and 2.74 times the median). As the number of days in the rolling average increases, the change in the variation decreases to 128 ± 35.7 ug/m2/s at 10-day, 128 ± 19.8 ug/m2/s at 30-day and 127 ± 13.9 ug/m2/s at 90-day. The range of values of the annual mean emissions on coal mine grids within Shanxi for the years 2018 to 2022 was 122 ± 58.2, 131 ± 71.2, 111 ± 63.6, 129 ± 87.1, and 138 ± 63.4 ug/m2/s, respectively. The 5-year average emissions from TROPOMI are 131 ± 68.0 ug/m2/s versus 125 ± 94.6 ug/m2/s on the grids where the EDGAR bottom-up database also has data, indicating that those pixels with mines dominate the overall emissions in terms of both magnitude and variability. The results show that high-frequency observation-based campaigns can produce a less biased result in terms of both the spatial and temporal distribution of CH4 emissions as compared with approaches using either low-frequency data or bottom-up databases, that coal mines dominate the sources of CH4 in Shanxi, and that the observed fat tail distribution can be accounted for using this approach.

Abstract This work presents particle-based numerical simulations on coal pillars in a coal mine based underground water reservoir (CMUWR). We aim to replicate the stress–strain characteristics and present the acoustic emission behavior of the coal under complex dynamic stress paths. The study reveals failure characteristics of coal exposed to monotonic/cyclic shear load under constant/cyclic normal loads. Based on the evolution of stress-time-dependent bond diameter implemented in particle model, different damage paths are established for dry and water-immersed samples under two loading frequencies. Furthermore, the numerical Gutenberg–Richter’s b-value was calculated from the released energy emanating from bond failure, and this work presents the evolution of numerical Gutenberg–Richter’s b-value. The numerical simulation contributes to a micromechanical understanding of the failure mechanisms of coal under water-immersion and cyclic stress, providing valuable insights for strength prediction of CMUWR.

China is a country in the world with the serious environmental pollution of coal mine “three wastes” (solid, liquid, gas). A lot of in-depth research and practice has been carried out on the utilization and treatment of “three wastes”. However, there are still many problems such as imperfect standards and norms, small scale of treatment and unsound technology. In order to solve the problem of synergistic development of low-cost geological storage of large-scale “three wastes” and ecological environment in China’s coal mines, on the basis of the definition of geological storage in other countries, the connotation of geological storage in China has been expanded. The progress and current status of research on the geological storage of “three wastes” are analyzed. Literature and patents related to the geological storage of “three wastes” at home and abroad are reviewed. The problems faced by China in carrying out the geological storage of “three wastes” and the suggestions for further development are put forward. It is pointed out that the main problem faced by the geological storage of “three wastes” in China is the inadequacy of the standards and regulations in the field of environment, especially the extensive lack of standards for the deep-well injection of waste liquids. The systematic research has shown that the research institutions in China are paying increasing attention to research in the field of the geological storage of the “three wastes”, and that the results of the research account for a high percentage of research in the world. China’s coal mine “three wastes” geological storage and ecological environment synergistic development awareness and system is being formed. However, there is insufficient support for research on the large-scale geological storage of “three wastes”, the cyclic system of geological storage of “three wastes” in the whole cycle of coal mining, and the synergistic relationship between CO2 capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) technology and the ecological environment. This seriously restricts the large-scale implementation and application of the concepts, technologies and projects of geological storage. China should expeditiously strengthen the scientific and technological research and development of coal mine “three wastes” geological storage technology and ecological environment synergistic development. Through the establishment of improved standards and norms, increased technological research and development, and strengthened environmental supervision and other measures, the green and sustainable development in China’s coal mines is promoted, helping the China’s “dual-carbon” goal to be realized.

The highly-efficient treatment of coal mine water with low energy consumption contributes to much safer and more efficient coal mining. At present, mine water processing at underground is still limited for its small treatment water yield, large land coverage and high operation cost in ground treatment, high drainage costs when mine water is discharged into the surface water system. In this light, this study puts forward the "deep ground-underground-surface ground" linkage system for mine water treatment and utilization. The treated mine water is partially used for mining production and residential usage, while the rest is subject to deep reinjection or drainage. This paper first introduces the operational mechanism behind this system, and then evaluates its validity in terms of water quality, water quantity, hydrogeology, underground structure, and feasibility of recharge engineering. This study then reviews existing mine water treatment methods for varying water qualities and the "underground-surface" joint treatment system; Also, a summary is drawn regarding the selection of aquifer for reinjection purposes, reinjection construction operations, reinjection tests, simulation of reinjection water quality, and analysis of reinjection safety.

The assessment and management of aerological risks in coal mine accidents are based on the development of a data analytics system that hosts design values for various parameters and subsystems related to coal mines, as well as the real-time monitoring of operational parameters through various sensors and devices. This study presents the methodology for monitoring aerological risks. It utilizes mining, geological, and geotechnical conditions for seam extraction, along with statistical data concerning elements of coal mine ventilation and gas drainage systems, to assess aerological risks at individual coal mine functionality levels and individual risk factors. Eight coal mines have been ranked according to their aerological risk level. For rank I, the minimum aerological risk is 0.0769, while the maximum is 0.5698. Rank II is associated with category II mines. Aerological risk for this rank is the lowest and ranges from 0,1135 to 0,3873. In the case of rank III, the minimum aerological risk is 0.057, with a maximum of 0.595. This ranking of coal mines by aerological risk level allows to identify potentially unsafe mines in terms of aerology, and enables us to determine aerological risk mitigation measures (technical, technological, and organizational) for each mine to enhance aerological safety.

Abstract Atmospheric pressure fluctuation is one of the most important factors affecting the climate environment and gas emission in the fire area. To obtain the influence rule of the surface atmospheric pressure change on the gas sampling and abnormal emission in the mine closed goaf, the No. 1 coal mine in Dananhu was taken as the research object. Using Fourier transform and Fisher harmonic analysis and other statistical methods, the influence of the periodic variation of atmospheric pressure on the gas leakage and outflow in the closed goaf was studied. The results showed that there were three atmospheric pressure periods of 15.2 d, 1 d and 182.2 d, and the probability was greater than 95%. The time period with the highest number of atmospheric pressure peaks was 7:00–8:00, which accounted for 20.2% of total occurrence number in a day. And the time periods with the highest number of atmospheric pressure trough were 2:00, 15:00 and 16:00, accounting for 27.4%. The peak-to-trough transition time was mainly concentrated around 6 h, and the diurnal variation curve of atmospheric pressure was mainly bimodal. The atmospheric pressure change rate was mostly concentrated in 10–50 Pa/h. It was determined that the distance that the gas sampling pipe was pre-laid into the inner side of the closed wall should be greater than 44.4 m, and the CO concentration and atmospheric pressure in the closed goaf were both periodic and negative with atmospheric pressure. The research results have important guiding significance for the monitoring, early warning and environmental protection of the goaf.

The prominent contradiction between high ground stress and low strength of surrounding rock in deep strata of coal mine leads to large deformation and instability disaster after roadway excavation. In order to grasp the internal deformation of surrounding rock before and after roadway excavation and support in time, this study developed a quasi-distributed large-range strain sensor cable based on weak fiber grating sensing technology, and realized the 1 m-level spacing arrangement of deformation measuring points in surrounding rock. The test performance of the sensor cable is mastered through the indoor calibration test. The test results show that the strain range of the developed strain sensing cable is not less than 0.04, the sensitivity is 1.23 pm/με, and the accuracy level is 0.5. It belongs to the high-precision sensor and has good repeatability and linearity. Field industrial test was carried out in deep rock roadway of No. 4 Coal Mine of Pingdingshan Tian’an Coal Shares The results show that: The strain value of surrounding rock decreases with the increase of hole depth. The strain value of surrounding rock within 4 m is larger, and the strain value outside 7 m is smaller and tends to be stable. The strain of roadway surrounding rock mainly occurs within 30 days after roadway repair, and then the strain increase of roadway surrounding rock gradually decreases and tends to be stable. Taking the rapid convergence position of strain rate to 0 as the boundary of surrounding rock loose zone, the boundary of roadway side and top loose zone is 5 m, and the boundary of shoulder loose zone is 4 m. Through the comprehensive application of weak fiber grating technology and time division multiplexing technology, the strain optical cable greatly improves the multiplexing capacity of optical fiber sensing network and meets the large range and fine online monitoring requirements of surrounding rock deformation monitoring in deep roadway of coal mine. Through technical application, the internal deformation characteristics of surrounding rock of deep roadway in coal mine and the spatio-temporal evolution law of loose circle can be mastered in time, which provides scientific basic data for the stability control decision of surrounding rock of deep roadway.

This paper first systematically reviews the research on shield and TBM construction ventilation technology in the tunnel (hole) and coal mine roadway engineering; then, it briefly introduces the general situation of the main and auxiliary inclined shaft project of Kekegai Coal Mine and makes a theoretical analysis on the ventilation design principle and ventilation mode selection of the project according to the general situation of the project. Based on the above analysis, a variety of designs and comparisons of construction ventilation schemes are carried out, and it is decided that the two-stage single head forced ventilation scheme with replacement fan is adopted for both inclined shafts; then the selected ventilation scheme is checked theoretically; finally, the ventilation effect is tested. The field practice shows that the ventilation effect is good.

Long-term work in the environment of high temperature and high humidity underground not only endangers the health of miners, but also easily leads to the occurrence of underground accidents. In view of this situation, personal cooling garments can be used as an individual cooling device. This paper summarizes the existing cooling garments technology and its development, which is divided into air-cooled garments, liquid-cooled garments, phase change garments, semiconductor cooling garments and chemical ice bag cooling garments according to the different cooling medium. This paper discusses the working principle, advantages and disadvantages, as well as the feasibility of existing personal cooling garments in the underground. Finally, this paper looks forward to the future development direction of personal cooling garments.

The occurrence of safety accidents in coal mine caused by unsafe behaviors is related to various inducements. This paper aims to explore the correlation between the core inducements and the inducements of unsafe behaviors and their influence on unsafe behaviors. In this paper, 339 coal mine safety accident reports were collected, and 37 unsafe behaviors and their inducement-related words were extracted with the help of text mining method, and the association rules were mined with Apriori algorithm to build the association network of unsafe behaviors and their inducements. Then, the association rules were analyzed. It is show that six types of core inducements, such as insufficient safety awareness, inadequate investigation and management of hidden dangers, and inadequate implementation of the safety production responsibility system, will have a direct impact on unsafe behavior, and six groups of core correlation factor sets will also have an indirect impact. Therefore, coal mining enterprises should focus on the core inducements and their associated factor sets to prevent the occurrence of unsafe behaviors.

In order to analyze the various influencing factors and their configuration paths of human-caused accidents in coal mines, through adopting the clear set qualitative comparative analysis method(csQCA) and taking 25 typical human-caused accident cases as the research object, this paper selects seven conditional variables: human factors, safety supervision, organization and management, equipment and facilities, complex environment, safety norms and safety culture to discuss the group configuration and multiple paths of human-caused accidents in coal mines. The results show that there are seven configuration paths in the formation of human-caused accidents in coal mines, and the associative effect is shown among the conditional variables in the seven configuration paths. In addition, different conditional variables have different influence on human-caused accidents in coal mines. Among them, safety norms, complex environment, organization management and safety supervision impose important effect on the occurrence of human accidents, and the organization management is particularly critical. Finally, this paper proposes the measures and suggestions to prevent human-caused accidents in coal mines based on the research results.

The optical fiber inertial navigation of coal mine excavation equipment is easy to be disturbed by multi-source heterogeneous noise such as vibration and electromagnetism in the underground excavation face, which leads to the reduction of the accuracy of position and attitude detection of excavation equipment. Therefore, in order to eliminate the influence of noise interference on the positioning and detection of integrated inertial navigation, a multi-source heterogeneous noise reduction method of optical fiber inertial navigation based on improved empirical mode decomposition (EMD) is proposed. Firstly, according to the environmental noise characteristics of underground heading face, the composition and characteristics of multi-source heterogeneous noise are analyzed. Then, the improved EMD noise reduction method is used to reduce the multi-source heterogeneous noise of optical fiber inertial navigation. This method adaptively selects the effective eigenmode function (IMF) by calculating the continuous mean square error (CMSE), optimizes the effective IMF component of each layer by setting the threshold function, and reconstructs the optimized effective IMF component, so as to obtain the signal after noise reduction. In order to verify the noise reduction effect of the improved EMD method, the comparative experiments of wavelet noise reduction method, variational modal decomposition (VMD) noise reduction method and improved EMD noise reduction method are carried out. The results show that the noise reduction effect of the improved EMD noise reduction method is better than that of wavelet noise reduction and VMD noise reduction method. In order to verify the improvement effect of the improved EMD Method on the pose detection accuracy of tunneling equipment, the combined positioning results of optical fiber inertial navigation and displacement sensor before noise reduction and after noise reduction by three noise reduction methods are compared and analyzed. The results show that the pose error of the combined positioning after noise reduction of optical fiber inertial navigation signal by the improved EMD method is the smallest, and it is greatly reduced compared with that before noise reduction, The Pitch angle error decreased from 0.1131° to 0.0286°, the Roll angle error decreased from 0.0101° to 0.0038°, the Yaw angle error decreased from 2.7051° to 0.0272°, the North position error decreased from 36.8872 to 0.0822 m, the East position error decreased from 0.4990 to 0.0161 m, and the Upward position error decreased from 0.9141 to 0.0143 m. The improved EMD noise reduction method proposed in this paper can effectively filter the multi-source heterogeneous noise of optical fiber strapdown inertial navigation signal of coal mine excavation equipment, which lays a good foundation for the accurate positioning of coal mine excavation equipment.

At present, coal mine gas explosion accident reports are in text record format. The specific cause information of the accident is contained in unstructured text, and there is a lack of professional accident dictionary. In order to solve the problem that manual analysis of accidents is time-consuming and laborious, low efficiency, and the analysis results are easily affected by subjectivity, and objectively extract the causes of accidents, we take “24Model of the cause of accident” as the theoretical basis of accident analysis, take the report of serious gas explosion accident in coal mine as the sample database, and construct the dictionary database of accident causes; with the help of information extraction technology, an accident cause information extraction algorithm based on rule pattern is proposed. The extraction results show that the extracted cause factors cover 90% of the manual analysis. This method provides theoretical support for rapid extraction of accident cause information in unstructured case base.

The paper considers the problem of reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the process of coal mining during the coal mine methane utilization in power supply systems. An algorithm to form recommendations for the implementation of CMM generation is presented. A simulation model for one of the Kuzbass coal mines was developed in the PowerFactory software application. The simulation model considers the uneven nature of the power consumption of mining equipment. As a result of modeling, daily power consumption profiles and voltage levels in the coal mine power supply system were determined before and after the implementation of the proposed measures. Based on the results, the technical and economic effects was estimated, which consisted in reducing the direct and indirect carbon footprint, electricity and capacity fees. It has been established that the cost of carbon dioxide emission quotas significantly affects the investment attractiveness of cogeneration projects. Based on the results, recommendations are given to stimulate the development of small generation in coal mines.

At present, China’s industrial production is facing intelligent technological innovation, and the coal mining industry is also in the wave of intelligent construction. The technical innovation of coal mine intelligence impels coal mine safety management into intelligence, and intelligent coal mine safety in the direction of intelligent safety risk control is the safety premise and safety guarantee of intelligent coal mine construction. To address the key issues of coal mine production safety risk prevention and control, the basic logic of the dual prevention mechanism and its shortcomings are firstly clarified. Double prevention mechanism is a set of effective safety management methods to prevent and control serious production safety incidents by identifying safety risks in advance, formulating corresponding control measures, and combining with closed-loop treatment procedures for hidden danger investigation. Its shortcoming is that the dynamic change characteristics of risks are not fully considered. Based on the analysis of the shortcomings of the dual prevention mechanism, the logic of the intelligent dual prevention mechanism and its advantages under the requirements of intelligent safety management are systematically elaborated. Based on the inherent risk classification and control, intelligent double prevention realizes dynamic assessment and prediction and early warning of the remaining risks, so that corresponding control measures can be taken to avoid hidden dangers before the risks really get out of control. Based on the management method of double prevention mechanism, the intelligent double prevention mechanism and intelligent safety control platform are proposed, and its system architecture, operation logic and construction basis are discussed. For safety management work, the intelligent safety control platform scientifically answers a series of questions about which person, when, where and what to check. On the basis of regular full-coverage control of each risk, it realizes differentiated resource input for different risk levels and timely and advanced control of hidden dangers, which makes all safety management activities simple while improving safety management performance. On the basis of the control platform, the key technologies required for the platform are discussed. These include digitization, collection and transmission of comprehensive security data, storage and management of comprehensive security data, intelligent algorithm models based on security management scenarios, integration of intelligent hardware with the control platform, and data visualization display and remote interaction technologies based on CPS or digital twin. Based on the double prevention mechanism, the intelligent double prevention mechanism and intelligent safety control platform are proposed. On the basis of lean allocation of safety resources, it realizes the advance control of safety risks, and then fundamentally improves the safety level of the enterprise and realizes the essential safety.

The resource utilization of coal mine drainage has been attracting growing attention. The increasingly stringent discharge standards and the deepening of the concept of intelligent mine have posed new challenges to mine water treatment technology. This paper discussed the traditional treatment processes and the multi-stage filtration underground treatment technology. In addition, a new high-efficiency technology-Polycera membrane ultrafiltration-was proposed to treat coal mine drainage on the basis of summarizing the existing technology problems. Compared with the multi-process of the traditional treatment technology, the new technology only includes two main units, high pressure pretreatment and atmospheric filtration treatment, because the treatment process does not need dosing and the whole dosing system can be omitted, which solves the problem that the traditional coal mine drainage treatment method must add coagulant, and can truly make the whole process of coal mine drainage treatment unattended and meet the requirements of the intelligent mine. The new technology offers the advantage of a shorter process flow and a smaller footprint and could ensure the stability of effluent water quality. Besides, the new technology could be operated automatically without chemical additions. At the same time, it can realize modularization and intellectualization, and can be applied to the direct filtration of coal mine drainage containing high suspended solids in different scenarios, or as the pretreatment unit of coal mine drainage brackish water, especially suitable for the in-situ reuse of coal mine drainage underground treatment. The core component of the new technology is the Polycera membrane with high strength and high-water flux. It is a super hydrophilic and oleophobic material that can withstand suspended solids (SS) of high concentrations up to 10000 mg/L. By analyzing the laboratory-scale test results and the reconstruction engineering case of coal mine drainage treatment on the ground, it can be seen that in the range of inlet SS of 0-10000 mg/L, the SS of the filtered effluent after direct filtration with Polycera membrane can be stably below 1 mg/L, and the turbidity can be stably below 1NTU, it is shown that the new technology presents apparent advantages in the resource utilization of coal mine drainage. This technology could provide a technical reference for large-scale engineering applications in the future.

The steady trend of complication of mining and geological factors in underground coal mining and at the same time the processes of mining intensification cause growth of dynamic manifestations of natural factors of mining, such as sudden coal and gas outbursts, rock bursts, rock collapses, leading to gas and dust explosions and fires. This requires developing the models of different phenomena manifestation risks, which enable improving the process safety of a mining enterprise. In this study, based on the methodology of aerological risk assessment in coal mines, a structural analysis of aerological risks was carried out. The criteria of hazard of mining-geological and mine engineering factors and vulnerability of schemes and methods of ventilation, ventilation facilities, and main fans were developed. A hierarchical structure of aerological risks of higher ranks was developed. The presented risk structure allows determining the area of superposition of hazards of coal mining and vulnerability of ventilation systems for each mine and its individual facilities, as well as quantifying these areas in the form of aerological risks. The ranges of aerological risk values of higher ranks for super-category mines and mines hazardous by sudden coal and gas outbursts for different ventilation modes were established. The presented methodology enables forecasting and reducing aerological risks in course of designing, operation, liquidation, and conservation of coal mines.

In order to fully understand the current research situation in field of deep coal mining, took the relevant literature of web of science database from 2003 to 2021 as a sample, this paper made an in-depth analysis on the number of papers issued, research institutions, countries, authors, literature citations, keywords and disciplines.The results showed that China's research level is at the forefront of the world in terms of the number of papers issued, research institutions and national levels; Chinese scholars pay high attention to this field in terms of the author; highly cited documents are mostly engineering and technical studies in terms of literature citation; from the perspective of keyword development and evolution, the keywords in this field mainly focus on model, rock, numerical simulation, mechanism and stress, model and numerical simulation will be the important research methods in this field in the future.From the perspective of discipline development and evolution, disciplines in this field mainly focus on engineering, geology, multidisciplinary geoscience, energy and fuel, environmental science and ecology, sustainable development will become the hot research directions in the future.

Mining is one of the key safety production industries that are seriously affected by earthquake disasters and prone to disasters. After many earthquakes such as “Tangshan earthquake” and “Wenchuan earthquake”, there have been serious disasters such as shaft and roadway engineering damages and sharp increase in water inflow, resulting in varying degrees of casualties and economic losses. Aiming at the lack of impact assessment methods of earthquake-induced coal mine secondary disasters, based on the theories of earthquake disaster, safety engineering and system science, and taking the mine lifeline system as the main line, this paper studies and proposes a comprehensive impact assessment method of earthquake-induced coal mine secondary disasters, which is as follows: firstly, the possibility of earthquake-induced coal mine secondary disasters in coal mines is evaluated from the level of earthquake disasters in the area where the mine is located, the risk of earthquake-induced coal mine secondary disasters, the disaster caused by coal seam gas occurrence, the disaster caused by hydro-geological conditions, and the standard setting of earthquake disaster bearing body; secondly, the severity of the consequences of earthquake-induced coal mine secondary disasters is evaluated from three aspects: casualties, economic losses and social impact of disasters; finally, the risk level of coal mine disaster induced by earthquake is determined by constructing the risk level matrix of mine disaster bearing body. The assessment method covers many factors, such as the current situation of pre-disaster fortification, the level of earthquake disaster at the time of disaster, the ability of post disaster emergency disaster reduction and relief, and realizes the full coverage of all key influencing factors before, during and after disaster.

Abstract Water inrush is one of the most dangerous disasters in coal mining. Due to the large-scale mining and complicated hydrogeological conditions, thousands of deaths and huge economic losses have been caused by water inrush disasters in China. There are two main factors determining the occurrence of water inrush: water source and water-conducting pathway. Research on the formation mechanism of the water-conducting pathway is the main direction to prevent and control the water inrush, and the seepage mechanism of rock mass during the formation of the water-conducting pathway is the key for the research on the water inrush mechanism. This paper provides a state-of-the-art review of seepage mechanisms during water inrush from three aspects, i.e., mechanisms of stress-seepage coupling, flow regime transformation and rock erosion. Through numerical methods and experimental analysis, the evolution law of stress and seepage fields in the process of water inrush is fully studied; the fluid movement characteristics under different flow regimes are clearly summarized; the law of particle initiation and migration in the process of water inrush is explored, and the effect of rock erosion on hydraulic and mechanical properties of the rock media is also studied. Finally, some limitations of current research are analyzed, and the suggestions for future research on water inrush are proposed in this review.

Mine planning involves selecting an optimal mine layout. At the same time key factors, including those influencing mining safety, should be comprehensively taken into account. A developed rock burst forecasting technique taking into account mine workings of an extraction area and a mine goaf enables determining the safe direction of a coal face. The proposed technique also takes into account all faulting/joint systems, occurring beyond a mine field. The distribution of specific potential energy in an intact rock mass is proposed to be used as the basis of the input data required for rock burst forecasting. The forecast is carried out via estimating the Lode-Nadai coefficient at different directions of coal face advancing. The stress (intensity) coefficient is proposed to be used as a criterion in order to determine a safe direction. We determined the safety criterion is equal to 10 in the Komsomolskaya Mine conditions. Besides, the safest direction of a coal face advance to mitigate the risks of rock burst was determined for this mine. The direction between 138° and 128° counter-clockwise from the north direction was identified to be the safest for the Komsomolskaya Mine conditions for any values of deformation modulus and Poisson’s ratio.

The posture detection of underground personnel can provide effective information for disaster warning and accident rescue. The postures of the underground personnel are complex and diverse and they are time series data. The existing human posture detection methods are difficult to process continuous related posture data. And the real-time performance is poor due to the complex algorithm and the need to configure an independent computer. In order to solve the above problems, a human posture detection method in coal mine based on improved long short term memory network(LSTM) is proposed. The pressure sensor and angle sensor are used to obtain the posture data of underground personnel, such as foot pressure, waist and leg angle, etc. The portable edge operation decision unit carried by the personnel can discriminate the posture. It can realize the real-time detection of five postures of underground personnel, such as standing, walking, bending, squatting (sitting) and lying down. In order to reduce the dimension of the original sampled data of human posture and improve the compute efficiency, LSTM is improved. The long short term memory sparse autoencoder(LSTMSA) is designed. The characteristics of the original sampled data is extracted by the sparse autoencoder(SA) to reduce the dimension, and then the human posture is detected by the LSTM. Human posture data are collected in the laboratory environment, and LSTMSA, LSTM and recursive neural network(RNN) are trained and tested respectively. The results show that under the same experimental settings and sampling data, the accuracy of LSTMSA for five kinds of human posture detection reaches more than 90%, which is close to LSTM and greater than RNN. The computing time of LSTMSA is shortened by more than 50% compared with LSTM, which meets the real-time requirements of human posture detection in coal mine.

The mining technology of gob-side entry retaining is widely adopted by China’s coal mining enterprises because of its high economic significance. However, gob-side entry retaining also has some problems, such as long service time, many times of mining influence, and difficult surrounding rock support. In order to explore the key technology of surrounding rock control of gob side entry retaining in 3304 working face, this paper studies the influence of roadway side filling parameters on surrounding rock control of gob side entry retaining by using research methods such as theoretical analysis, numerical simulation and field measurement, and proposed the bolt asymmetric support scheme of gob side entry-retaining through the “three high and one low” bolt support design concept, through the comparison of numerical simulation test and field practice test, it is concluded that the reasonable parameters of roadway side support body and the asymmetric support scheme of anchor bolt have obvious effect on the control of surrounding rock of gob-side entry retaining roadway.

In view of the problems of roof collapse and difficult roof support in composite roof roadway, the deformation and instability mechanism of composite roof is analyzed, and the cooperative support technology of long and short anchor cables is proposed. The control effect of the original roadway support mode and the high-strength pre-stressed long and short anchor cable cooperative support mode on the roadway surrounding rock is analyzed by numerical simulation. The results show that the improved long and short anchor cable cooperative support scheme can effectively control the roadway deformation and failure, and the volume of roadway plastic zone is reduced by 29.1%; the field monitoring data show that the roof and floor displacement, two side displacement and roof subsidence of the roadway are reduced by 63.6%, 60.4% and 60.2% after the cooperative support of long and short anchor cables, indicating that the support method has a good control effect on the surrounding rock of the roadway with composite roof.

One of the main factors for the effective functioning of the power supply system in highly productive coal mines is the uninterrupted power supply of underground consumers for the entire process cycle at sufficient amount of electric energy at a high level of quality and performance. The analysis of electric energy consumption in highly productive coal mine has shown that about 57 % of electric energy consumers are located in underground workings. Consumers can be divided into the following areas of basic technological process of coal production: production areas (13 %); conveyor transport areas (13 %); preparation areas (8 %), and areas of auxiliary processes of coal production: mine drainage (23 %). The increase in the share of controlled-velocity electric drives in the total power balance of fully-mechanized longwalls leads to factors previously atypical of underground power networks. Such factors include changes to the harmonic composition of the network, arising higher current and voltage harmonics, affecting the supplying network and causing heating of electrical equipment, power and electric energy losses. Therefore, the most pressing issues are to improve electric energy quality in underground electric networks of highly productive coal mines. The study has developed a technique for experimental investigations of quality indicators of electric energy (presented in the form of algorithm) in respect to specific conditions of highly productive coal mines. These include dangerous facilities in terms of sudden gas/dust outbursts. This technique was tested at a number of coal mines of JSC SUEK-Kuzbass. The study also presents the results of experimental investigations to determine the actual level of total harmonic distortion (factor) in underground electric networks of fully-mechanized longwalls of coal mines. Of greater importance is justification of higher harmonic filter parameters. To this end a calculation algorithm based on the developed technique has been proposed. Research has shown that application of forward and inverse Clarke transformations for calculating the harmonic filter parameters is applicable for all voltage levels. The simulation model of power supply system of a coal mine fully-mechanized longwall allows conditions of higher harmonics damping to be studied by means of a device for improvement of electric energy quality. Applying the proposed technical solutions to improve the quality of electric energy based on the simulation modeling allowed the successful damping of higher harmonics to be achieved. For example, the total harmonic components voltage (THD (U)) was reduced from 9.07 to 1.77 %.

In view of challenges about safety management model changes and personnel implementation with the intelligent coal mines, the difference between traditional production safety and safety during smart mining is analyzed. Based on the parallel theory, this paper analyzes the management mode, phased construction ideas and management methods of intelligent coal mines parallel safety. It proposes a SEGI and PDCA dual closed-loop safety management mode using system-data-network-man-machine-environment-management as the main body. Based on the parallel safety architecture of coal mines, it is believed that building a coal mine parallel safety operation platform, following the four-basic safety, forming a four-fold prevention mechanism, establishing a parallel safety standard system, implementing personnel control and talent introduction are effective ways to solve the non-technical problems of intelligent coal mines parallel safety.

Abstract Permeability of coal reservoirs influence the extraction of coal gas from coal seams. Twelve coal samples were collected at an anticline and a syncline of the No. 3 coal seam in the Sihe coal mine. Porosity, permeability, pore size, vitrinite reflectance, and liquid nitrogen adsorption of the samples were evaluated. Structural curvatures at the sample locations, and the distance between the sampling locations and the nearest faults were calculated based on seismic data. The influences of the evaluated parameters on permeability were analyzed. Major factors that influence permeability of the No. 3 coal seam were extracted using principal component analysis (PCA). Based on the porosity–permeability model derived from the Archie formula and classic Kozeny–Carman equation, we deduced that the permeability of coal increased with an increase in porosity. With an increase in average vitrinite reflectance, permeability decreases first and then increases. PCA results showed that coal permeability was regulated by three key components representing three modes. The first component included pore size, depth, and pore complexity accounting for 52.59% of the variability indicating that it was the most important in controlling permeability. The second component included specific surface area, structural curvature, and porosity, and the third component comprised of specific surface area, porosity, and average vitrinite reflectance. Overall, pore diameter and complexity had significant effects on coal permeability. The results show that researchers and stakeholders must consider the interactions among multiple factors rather than single factors to understand the influences on permeability to facilitate efficient utilization of coalbed methane resources.

Concealed hazard sources in the working face are the main hidden danger for safe production in the coal mines, and the Radar Travel Time Tomography technology can realize the high-precision detection of the concealed hazard source in the large-span working face.This paper puts forward an evaluation criteria for tomographic accuracy, including the evaluation indicators of variance of velocity difference between inversion velocity field and actual velocity field, deviation degree of the inversion center of the anomalous body, and deviation degree of the size of the anomalous body.Then the influence of radar traveling time tomography by point spacing, transmitting angle and inversion grid in mine is analyzed through forward modeling, resulting in the optimized parameters for observation system and inversion.Finally, the optimized parameters are employed to carry out some field verification experiments, and the results show that the anomalous body can be detected affectively for the working face within 100 m span, providing effective technical support for the rapid and precise detection of concealed hazard sources in large-span working face in mine area.

In order to solve the problems that “there is a system but not fine, there is a structure but absence, there is a system but absence, there is responsibility but not clear” in coal mine safety production technology management, the principles and components of technology management system construction was proposed, the research establishes the “135” coal mine safety production technology management system architecture with the chief engineer as the core, the group, the subsidiary(sub-company) and the coal mine as the focus, supported by the chief engineer of each level, the deputy chief engineer of each specialty and the technical department, business contact department and administrative cooperation department directly managed by the chief engineer. The division of responsibilities of production safety technology management has been clarified, and safeguard measures have been proposed from the aspects of organizational leadership, human resources construction, financial guarantee, professional training and standard system construction. The construction of coal mine safety production technology management system can provide technical support for promoting high quality development of coal enterprises.

The revolutionary changes of the Internet of Things in the acquisition, transmission, storage and application of coal mine safety information lead to great changes in the way of coal mine safety supervision and operation, and then put forward reform requirements for the current safety supervision system. We summarize the characteristics of Internet of things application in coal mine safety regulation, analyze the new requirements on the organizational structure, operation mechanism and supervision mode of the safety supervision system, put forward the direction and principles of regulatory system reform under the environment of Internet of Things, and put forward specific reform levels and suggestions from three aspects of organizational structure, operation mechanism and regulatory mode.

In order to find out the human factors leading to coal mine general accidents, the paper counts the coal mine accidents occurred in 2019. Based on the investigation reports, HFACS is used to carry out the statistics and analysis of 43 coal mine general accidents. Then the relationships between different human factors, which are involved in the HFACS-PEFE framework, are identified by conducting chi-square test and odds ratio analysis. Four routes of coal mine general accidents are obtained. Among them, the route comprised of organizational process loopholes → invalid correction → individual mental state → habitual violation is the easiest way to lead to general accidents in coal mines. Finally, according to the analysis results, the measures to prevent coal mine general accidents are proposed.

Equipment with diesel engines is used in all mining enterprises. Monorail diesel transport is of great importance in coal mines, as it facilitates the heavy labor of workers when transporting materials and people, fixing mining workings, refueling and repairing equipment, which leads to an increase in the speed of tunneling operations. Reducing the concentration of harmful gases from diesel-hydraulic locomotives at the workplaces of coal mine locomotive drivers can be ensured by the use of additives to diesel fuel that reduce the volume of harmful gas emissions during the operation of diesel-hydraulic locomotives. Additive ester-based on vegetal oil in the amount of 5 mass % in a mixture with hydrotreated diesel fuel reduces the concentration of carbon monoxide by 19-60 %, nitrogen oxides by 17-98 %, depending on the operating mode of the engine, the smoke content of the exhaust gases is reduced to 71 %. There is an improvement in working conditions at the workplace of the driver of a diesel-hydraulic locomotive by the chemical factor due to the reduction of the class of working conditions from 3.1. to 2.

The hard roof difficult to collapse easily causes gas accumulation, which threatens the production safety of coal mine. Therefore, roof pre-cracking is required. Although blasting and hydraulic fracturing can also crack the roof, blasting can easily induce rock bursts, whereas hydraulic fracturing needs complex equipment. In contrast, soundless cracking demolition agents (SCDAs) with noise-free, dust-free, and safe characteristics have obvious advantages. The main component of SCDA is calcium oxide, which reacts with water to produce higher expansion pressure. In this paper, focused on the angles of the borehole, the effect of SCDA is analyzed by numerical simulation based on Pingdingshan coal mine. The research results showed that the azimuthal angle α (between borehole projection and the roadway direction) does not significantly affect the efficacy of SCDAs, whereas the influence of borehole elevation angle β is far more significant than that of the azimuthal angle. Therefore, the angle β is a dominant factor influencing the effect of SCDAs. Based on different effects of SCDAs at different angle of boreholes, the weakening unit was established, so the SCDAs could give full play to roof fracturing. Moreover, field tests validated the importance of borehole angle on weakening the hard roofs.

To perceive and understand the situation of coal mine safety throughout the life cycle of coal mine system is the basis of formulating safety system and the premise of adjusting safety strategy. Only when the safety risk of coal mine system is fully identified can the targeted safety precautions be taken. Based on the mass information of hidden danger record log and coal mine safety function index, combined with the importance of position and function itself, this paper proposes a perception evaluation model that determines hidden danger risk by industry regulations and experts' experience, adopts AHP and entropy weight method to give subjective and objective weights, and makes hierarchical evaluation of coal mine safety situation. The empirical evidence shows that the model can assist safety managers to understand the safety threat of coal mine.

In order to study the behavioral causes of coal mine rock burst accidents, 24Model was applied to analyze the unsafe acts and physical causes of 10 typical rock burst accidents occurred after 2011. The results show that the depth of 80% of the rock burst accidents is over 800 m, 50% of the accident points are located in the fault area, and 90% of the rock burst accidents occur in the state-owned key coal mines. The occurrence process of the rock burst accidents can be divided into two stages: the formation process of the high stress concentration zone and the process of eliminating the rock burst risk. Seven categories of unsafe actions, which mainly include risk operation and failure of anti-impact measures, are obtained to eliminate the failure of rock burst hazard.

In order to analyze the main occupational hazard factors and determine the key positions of occupational hazard factors in coal mines in southwest Guizhou Province, the test results of occupational hazard factors in 18 coal mines in southwest Guizhou Province from 2018 to 2019 were analyzed, including the main occupational hazard factors, comparing the difference of qualification rate between the occupational hazard factors of the main posts, and determining the key posts for disease hazard control. The main occupational hazard factors in coal mines in this area are dust, noise and hand-transmitted vibration. The positions with serious dust and noise hazards are coal miners, perforators and drivers of excavating machines.

Risk identification, monitoring and early warning of typical coal mine dynamic disasters such as rock burst, coal and gas outburst is the focus and difficulty of coal mine safety production. During the 13th Five-Year Plan period. In order to solve this problem, we carried out the research on the development of key technologies and equipment for risk identification, monitoring and early warning of typical power disasters in coal mines, a new theory of breeding and evolution mechanism and occurrence and development of coal mine dynamic disaster under the effect of mining disturbance and multi-field coupling superposition was established, the intelligent identification theory and early warning method of multi parameter precursory information of typical dynamic disasters in coal mines were put forward; the precursory information acquisition and sensing technology and equipment with fault self-diagnosis, high sensitivity and long calibration period were developed. Through the research of heterogeneous data fusion, ad hoc network, anti-interference and other technologies, the comprehensive collection of man-machine environment parameters and multi information in key areas of coal mines are proposed The new method of common network transmission provides technical support for the safe and trouble free operation of coal mine typical power disaster monitoring and early warning system. An automatic, informatized and intelligent early warning platform is constructed, which realizes the functions of fault self diagnosis, high sensitivity, short response time, long calibration period, anti-interference, etc., and the early warning accuracy is improved to more than 90 %. Through the organic integration of early warning basic research, key technology development and application demonstration has realized online monitoring, intelligent identification and real-time accurate early warning of hidden major disasters in coal mine have been realized.

In order to realize the transition of safety decision from experience-driven to data-driven and improve the effectiveness of safety management, the connotation of best safety evidence was discussed based on evidence-based safety(EBS) management theory,and a safety management mode optimized by best safety evidence was proposed. On this basis, EBS management system of gas explosion accidents was established, and the safety decision based on best safety evidence was proposed by taking time data of gas explosion accidents as the research object. The results show that the application of EBS management in production field can optimize the current safety management mode, bridge the gap between safety research and safety practice, and improve the pertinence of safety decision. This study was the first attempt of EBS theory in specific production field, which also provides feasible ideas for the research, practice and development of EBS management.

The growth of volume of tunneling, power supplied per job, and consumption of fuel and energy resources makes it necessary to increase energy performance of production processes with reducing energy losses. Tunneling conditions are determined by a combination of mutually influencing factors (geological, technological and organizational), and assessing their impact on tunneling energy performance requires a deep detailed study. For criterion assessment of tunneling performance, indicators of energy consumption, performance, and quality of tunneling performed by shift crews, allowing to objectively assess their work, were proposed. Indicators of process and specific power consumption in the process of tunneling vary over a wide range, therefore, to ensure smooth equipment operation, shift crews must adhere to the recommended indicators that determine the optimum rates of tunneling and enables adherence to permissible operation modes. Statistical models of energy performance indicators of heading sets of equipment operation were investigated using the example of the Severnaya coal mine. Indicators of energy consumption, energy performance, and tunneling (on shift basis) were proposed. Distribution laws have been determined for the main indicators characterizing tunneling energy performance. Recommendations have been developed to ensure sustainable operation of heading sets of equipment throughout the entire period of tunneling. Tunneling requires permanent monitoring its parameters and rates of advance, the quality of face preparation, timely maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment, control of the process through ensuring optimal operating modes of the heading sets of equipment.

This study mainly analyzes the influencing factors of coal mine gas accident emergency command ability and its correlation, using the theoretical methods of safety ergonomics, structural equation and SPSS, the key factors influencing the emergency command ability of coal mine gas accidents are studied, from the perspectives of human, machine and environment, i.e. emergency commander, emergency materials and equipment and facilities, on-site rescue environment, etc. An analysis model of influencing factors on emergency command ability of coal mine gas accidents is proposed. The case of a coal mine gas accident rescue command exercise was selected for empirical discussion. The research shows that the descriptive statistical value of the emergency commander factor is the highest, followed by the factors of emergency materials and equipment and facilities, and on-site rescue environment. Targeted countermeasures research should be carried out according to the actual situation of different influencing factors.

The safety of mining operations in coal mines for aerological factors depends on the quality of accepted and implemented ventilation design solutions. The current “Design Manual of coal mine ventilation” do not take into account the features of room-and-pillar development systems used in Russia. This increases the risk of explosions, fires, and gassing. The detailed study of foreign experience in designing ventilation for the considered development systems e of coal deposits allowed to formulate recommendations on the ventilation scheme organization for coal mines using a room-and-pillar development system and the procedure for ventilation during multi-entry gateroad development. Observations have shown that the use of the existing Russian procedure for airing mining sites with a room-and-pillar development system complicates the emergency rescue operations conduct. Low speeds and multidirectional air movement, difficult heat outflow, and the abandonment of coal pillars increase the risk of occurrence and late detection of endogenous fire. The results of numerical modeling have shown that the installation (parallel to the drifts) of ventilation structures in inter-chamber pillars will increase the reliability of ventilation by transferring the ventilation scheme from a complex diagonal to a complex parallel. It will also reduce the amount of air required for the mine site and the total aerodynamic drag. The research made it possible to formulate requirements for the design procedure for coal mines ventilation using a room-and-pillar development system, which consist in the order of working out blocks in the panel, and also the additional use of ventilation structures (light brattice clothes or blowing line brattice).

Based on the increasingly severe and complex situation of coal mine safety production, there are still many problems in the basic management of safety production. In order to further improve the level of coal mine safety production management and build an efficient coal mine safety management system, Lu’an Group first proposed the management idea of evaluating the safety management and control ability of coal mine leading group. Lu’an Group, in accordance with the relevant regulations of the superior and in combination with its own characteristic of basic safety management mode, reasonably determines the evaluation items, formulates evaluation and scoring rules, regularly evaluates and assesses the safety management and control ability of the leading group of each mine and analyzes the causes, promotes them to have a deep understanding of their own shortcomings, takes targeted measures to make up for the shortcomings of safety management, continuously improves and perfects working methods, and effectively gives full play to the core leadership role of the team, leads the staff of the whole mine to earnestly perform their post responsibilities, unites and cooperates with each other, concentrates and gathers strength, and pushes forward the work of coal mine safety production.

China’s legislation on coal mine safety has gone through three different periods, ancient, modern and after the founding of new China, each of which has formed a legal system on coal mine safety. At present, China has established a complete system of coal mine safety regulations and a complete basic system of coal mine safety. However, for coal mine safety regulation system in our country, there are still some problems: some laws and regulations with outdated contents, the absence of market urgently needed standards, the failure of timely refinement and implementation of the Production Safety Law, the unclear orientation of coal mine safety supervision and supervision responsibility, the contradiction and conflict between laws and regulations, and the light legal responsibility of enterprises. In view of the new characteristics and requirements of comprehensively governing the country by law in the new era, China’s coal mine safety laws and regulations should adhere to the basic development ideas, such as putting people first, ensuring the safety of miners’ lives as the core, speeding up the legislation, reform, abolishment and interpretation, and strengthening the legal responsibility of enterprises.

In the past 50 years, China’s coal mine safety has made great achievements, realizing historical transformation from high accidents, fatality and growth to low accidents, fatality, and negative growth. All these achievements are the results of great attention and concern of the Communist Party of China and government, the strengthening of the legal system, the innovation of the system and mechanism for the management of production safety and the progress of coal science and technology. In a long period, the main position and role of coal in China’s primary energy structure will not change and the energy policy of “coal-based and diversified development” will not change. Xi Jinping thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era has pointed out the direction of work safety of coal mines. The supply-side structural reform of coal has provided a mechanism for the root cause of coal mine safety production, and the modernization of the coal industry governance system and governance capacity has promoted the transformation of coal mine safety production from traditional management to modernized management, thus making the development prospect of coal mine safety production more bright and broad.

Occupational health plays an important role in coal mine management. For this reason, this paper aims to investigate the problems of health management within coal mine management, referring to laws and regulations, relevant literature, and methods of field interview. This paper establishes five first-level indicators, including production protection of employees, health participation of employees, funding input, production health management, and operating environment management. What is more, this paper also sets up an evaluation index system with more than 19 secondary indicators such as the penalty for not wearing protective equipment and the fine for production violations, etc. With these considerations, the actual operating data from 23 coal mines in Inner Mongolia, Shandong, Shanxi and other regions were collected and analyzed with the super-efficiency DEA model so as to assess the efficiency of the occupational health management in coal mine industry. Results show that the efficiency values of 8 coal mines are all greater than 1 and the average efficiency value is 0.759. It is also noted that there are still problems such as staff protection, health participation and insufficient attention to management in most mines.

In order to reduce the violations of miners and ensure the safety of coal mine production, a solution to build a coal mine error management climate was proposed. To verify the effectiveness of the error management climate on the control of miners’ violations, five production teams from Baode Coal Mine in Shanxi Province were selected for a four-month empirical study; data envelopment analysis(DEA) was used to establish an evaluation model of the effect of error management climate on miners’ violations, and the efficiency of each period was evaluated. The research shows that the error management climate has a significant impact on reducing miners’ violations; during the construction of error management climate in coal mine, the optimization of input structure is very important; the improvement of miner’s error learning ability and error communication consciousness is helpful to improve the control effect of error management on violation behavior. It turns out that the error management climate is an important reason for the reduction of miners’ violations.

Taking a coal mine in Shanxi Province as the target, unsafe behaviors were identified by data collection and arrangement, questionnaire and deep interview, and then the safety status levels were evaluated by risk-matrix method and model evaluation method. The main results were as follows: the 842 unsafe behaviors were found in this coal mine. Among them, the amount of coal preparation plant, belt team and airshaft management department were the most, with their ratios in the total amount of unsafe behaviors in this coal mine being as 23.3%, 9.7% and 9.3%, respectively; the species of high-risk-level unsafe behaviors were 172, taking up 14.5% of total amount of unsafe behaviors in this mine. Among which, the amount of high-risk-level unsafe behaviors in coal preparation plant, 1# comprehensive tunneling team and underground electromechanical team were the most, and the amount of high-risk-level unsafe behaviors for maintenance facility fitter, mine-rescue-member and rig drivers were the most; the low level of identification degree for “strict management and discipline could put an end to accident”, ineffective conduction of behavior-correction-activities, non-standardized safety performance examine and other reasons were the 10 main reasons for unsafe behaviors in this coal mine; four concrete measures were finally proposed for the reduction of unsafe behaviors in this coal mine.

In order to further improve the occupational health management level of coal mines in China. From the “source-cause factor-acting object” of occupational disease hazard factors, the whole process analysis of the cause factors of coal mine occupational disease hazard management is carried out. The cause model of coal mine occupational disease hazard based on energy release is established, and the coal mine occupational disease hazard evaluation index system is established. There are 5 first-level indicators and 20 second-level indicators. In order to improve the objectivity and accuracy of the calculation results, AHP and DEMATEL are combined to build an evaluation model based on AHP-DEMATEL and applied in an example to analyze the influence degree of the influencing factors of occupational hazards in coal mines. The results show that the comprehensive impact of occupational health management is the highest in the first-level indicators, and the comprehensive impact of the employees’ literacy is the lowest; the comprehensive influence degree of the dust protection equipment and occupational disease prevention system in the secondary indicators higher. The evaluation results are in good agreement with the management of occupational hazards in coal mines under actual conditions.
