1. Tomato root specialized metabolites evolved through gene duplication and regulatory divergence within a biosynthetic gene cluster.

Abstract: Tremendous plant metabolic diversity arises from phylogenetically restricted specialized metabolic pathways. Specialized metabolites are synthesized in dedicated cells or tissues, with pathway genes sometimes colocalizing in biosynthetic gene clusters (BGCs). However, the mechanisms by which spatial expression patterns arise and the role of BGCs in pathway evolution remain underappreciated. In this study, we investigated the mechanisms driving acylsugar evolution in the Solanaceae. Previously thought to be restricted to glandular trichomes, acylsugars were recently found in cultivated tomato roots. We demonstrated that acylsugars in cultivated tomato roots and trichomes have different sugar cores, identified root-enriched paralogs of trichome acylsugar pathway genes, and characterized a key paralog required for root acylsugar biosynthesis, SlASAT1-LIKE (SlASAT1-L), which is nested within a previously reported trichome acylsugar BGC. Last, we provided evidence that ASAT1-L arose through duplication of its paralog, ASAT1, and was trichome-expressed before acquiring root-specific expression in the Solanum genus. Our results illuminate the genomic context and molecular mechanisms underpinning metabolic diversity in plants.

Abstract: In nature, multiple adaptive phenotypes often coevolve and can be controlled by tightly linked genetic loci known as supergenes. Dissecting the genetic basis of these linked phenotypes is a major challenge in evolutionary genetics. Multiple freshwater populations of threespine stickleback fish (Gasterosteus aculeatus) have convergently evolved two constructive craniofacial traits, longer branchial bones and increased pharyngeal tooth number, likely as adaptations to dietary differences between marine and freshwater environments. Prior QTL mapping showed that both traits are partially controlled by overlapping genomic regions on chromosome 21 and that a regulatory change in Bmp6 likely underlies the tooth number QTL. Here, we mapped the branchial bone length QTL to a 155 kb, eight-gene interval tightly linked to, but excluding the coding regions of Bmp6 and containing the candidate gene Tfap2a Further recombinant mapping revealed this bone length QTL is separable into at least two loci. During embryonic and larval development, Tfap2a was expressed in the branchial bone primordia, where allele specific expression assays revealed the freshwater allele of Tfap2a was expressed at lower levels relative to the marine allele in hybrid fish. Induced loss-of-function mutations in Tfap2a revealed an essential role in stickleback craniofacial development and show that bone length is sensitive to Tfap2a dosage in heterozygotes. Combined, these results suggest that closely linked but genetically separable changes in Bmp6 and Tfap2a contribute to a supergene underlying evolved skeletal gain in multiple freshwater stickleback populations.

Abstract: Metallochaperones are a diverse family of trafficking molecules that provide metal ions to protein targets for use as cofactors. The copper chaperone for superoxide dismutase (Ccs1) activates immature copper-zinc superoxide dismutase (Sod1) by delivering copper and facilitating the oxidation of the Sod1 intramolecular disulfide bond. Here, we present structural, spectroscopic, and cell-based data supporting a novel copper-induced mechanism for Sod1 activation. Ccs1 binding exposes an electropositive cavity and proposed "entry site" for copper ion delivery on immature Sod1. Copper-mediated sulfenylation leads to a sulfenic acid intermediate that eventually resolves to form the Sod1 disulfide bond with concomitant release of copper into the Sod1 active site. Sod1 is the predominant disulfide bond-requiring enzyme in the cytoplasm, and this copper-induced mechanism of disulfide bond formation obviates the need for a thiol/disulfide oxidoreductase in that compartment.

Abstract: Proper folding of proteins is critical to producing the biological machinery essential for cellular function. The rates and energetics of a protein's folding process, which is described by its energy landscape, are encoded in the amino acid sequence. Over the course of evolution, this landscape must be maintained such that the protein folds and remains folded over a biologically relevant time scale. How exactly a protein's energy landscape is maintained or altered throughout evolution is unclear. To study how a protein's energy landscape changed over time, we characterized the folding trajectories of ancestral proteins of the ribonuclease H (RNase H) family using ancestral sequence reconstruction to access the evolutionary history between RNases H from mesophilic and thermophilic bacteria. We found that despite large sequence divergence, the overall folding pathway is conserved over billions of years of evolution. There are robust trends in the rates of protein folding and unfolding; both modern RNases H evolved to be more kinetically stable than their most recent common ancestor. Finally, our study demonstrates how a partially folded intermediate provides a readily adaptable folding landscape by allowing the independent tuning of kinetics and thermodynamics.

Abstract: The mechanism of proton exchange in a metal-ligand enzyme active site mimic (compound 1) is described through amide hydrogen-deuterium exchange kinetics. The type and ratio of cationic guest to host in solution affect the rate of isotope exchange, suggesting that the rate of exchange is driven by a host whose cavity is occupied by water. Rate constants for acid-, base-, and water-mediated proton exchange vary by orders of magnitude depending on the guest, and differ by up to 200 million-fold relative to an alanine polypeptide. These results suggest that the unusual microenvironment of the cavity of 1 can dramatically alter the reactivity of associated water by magnitudes comparable to that of enzymes.

6. Discovery of multiple hidden allosteric sites by combining Markov state models and experiments

Abstract: The discovery of drug-like molecules that bind pockets in proteins that are not present in crystallographic structures yet exert allosteric control over activity has generated great interest in designing pharmaceuticals that exploit allosteric effects. However, there have only been a small number of successes, so the therapeutic potential of these pockets--called hidden allosteric sites--remains unclear. One challenge for assessing their utility is that rational drug design approaches require foreknowledge of the target site, but most hidden allosteric sites are only discovered when a small molecule is found to stabilize them. We present a means of decoupling the identification of hidden allosteric sites from the discovery of drugs that bind them by drawing on new developments in Markov state modeling that provide unprecedented access to microsecond- to millisecond-timescale fluctuations of a protein's structure. Visualizing these fluctuations allows us to identify potential hidden allosteric sites, which we then test via thiol labeling experiments. Application of these methods reveals multiple hidden allosteric sites in an important antibiotic target--TEM-1 β-lactamase. This result supports the hypothesis that there are many as yet undiscovered hidden allosteric sites and suggests our methodology can identify such sites, providing a starting point for future drug design efforts. More generally, our results demonstrate the power of using Markov state models to guide experiments.

Abstract: ALS is a terminal disease of motor neurons that is characterized by accumulation of proteinaceous deposits in affected cells. Pathological deposition of mutated Cu/Zn superoxide dismutase (SOD1) accounts for ∼20% of the familial ALS (fALS) cases. However, understanding the molecular link between mutation and disease has been difficult, given that more than 140 different SOD1 mutants have been observed in fALS patients. In addition, the molecular origin of sporadic ALS (sALS) is unclear. By dissecting the amino acid sequence of SOD1, we identified four short segments with a high propensity for amyloid fibril formation. We find that fALS mutations in these segments do not reduce their propensity to form fibrils. The atomic structures of two fibril-forming segments from the C terminus, (101)DSVISLS(107) and (147)GVIGIAQ(153), reveal tightly packed β-sheets with steric zipper interfaces characteristic of the amyloid state. Based on these structures, we conclude that both C-terminal segments are likely to form aggregates if available for interaction. Proline substitutions in (101)DSVISLS(107) and (147)GVIGIAQ(153) impaired nucleation and fibril growth of full-length protein, confirming that these segments participate in aggregate formation. Our hypothesis is that improper protein maturation and incompletely folded states that render these aggregation-prone segments available for interaction offer a common molecular pathway for sALS and fALS.

Abstract: A novel single-particle technique to measure emittance has been developed and used to characterise seventeen different muon beams for the Muon Ionisation Cooling Experiment (MICE). The muon beams, whose mean momenta vary from 171 to 281 MeV/c, have emittances of approximately 1.2-2.3 π mm-rad horizontally and 0.6-1.0 π mm-rad vertically, a horizontal dispersion of 90-190 mm and momentum spreads of about 25 MeV/c. There is reasonable agreement between the measured parameters of the beams and the results of simulations. The beams are found to meet the requirements of MICE. © 2013 The Author(s).

Abstract: We present improved measurements of the branching fraction and CP asymmetry for the process B±→ρ±π0. The data sample corresponding to 211fb-1 comprises 232×106 Υ(4S)→BB̄ decays collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric B Factory at SLAC. The yield and CP asymmetry are measured using an extended maximum likelihood fitting method. The branching fraction and CP asymmetry are found to be B(B±→ρ±π0)=[10.2±1.4(stat)±0.9(syst)] ×10-6 and ACP(B±→ρ±π0)=-0.01±0.13(stat) ±0.02(syst). © 2007 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We report on a study of inclusive B- and B̄0 meson decays to D0X, D̄0X, D+X, D-X, Ds+X, Ds-X, Λc+X, Λ̄c-X, based on a sample of 231×106 BB̄ events recorded with the BABAR detector at the Υ(4S) resonance. Events are selected by completely reconstructing one B and searching for a reconstructed charm particle in the rest of the event. From the measured branching fractions of these decays, we infer the number of charm and anticharm particles per B̄ decay, separately for charged and neutral parents. We derive the total charm yield per B- decay, nc-=1.208±0. 023±0.040-0.029+0.035, and per B̄0 decay, nc0=1.203±0. 030±0.034-0.035+0.044 where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third reflects the charm branching-fraction uncertainties. We also present the charm momentum distributions measured in the B̄ rest frame. © 2007 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We report on a search for the lepton-flavor-violating processes e+e-→μ+τ- and e+e-→e+τ-. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 211fb-1 recorded by the BABAR experiment at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory at a center-of-mass energy of s=10.58GeV. Abstract: Using 65×106 Υ(4S)→BB̄ events collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e+e- storage ring at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, we measure the color-favored branching fractions B(B̄0→D+π- )=(2.55±0.05±0.16)×10-3, B(B̄0→D*+π-)=(2. 79±0.08±0.17)×10-3, B(B-→D0π-)=(4.90±0. 07±0.22)×10-3 and B(B-→D*0π-)=(5.52±0. 17±0.42)×10-3, where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic. With these results and the current world average for the branching fraction for the color-suppressed decay B̄0→D(*) 0π0, the cosines of the strong phase difference δ between the I=1/2 and I=3/2 isospin amplitudes are determined to be cos δ=0.872-0.007-0.029+0. 008+0.031 for the B̄→Dπ process and cos δ=0.924-0.017-0. 054+0.019+0.063 for the B̄→D*π process. Under the isospin symmetry, the results for cos δ suggest the presence of final-state interactions in the Dπ system. © 2007 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We present measurements of the branching fractions for the charmless two-body decays B0→π+π- and B0→K+π-, and a search for the decay B0→K+K-. We include the effects of final-state radiation from the daughter mesons for the first time, and quote branching fractions for the inclusive processes B0→h+h′-nγ, where h and h′ are pions or kaons. The maximum value of the sum of the energies of the n undetected photons, Eγmax, is mode-dependent. Using a data sample of approximately 227×106 Υ(4S)→BB̄ decays collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e- collider at SLAC, we measure: B(B0→π+π-nγ;Eγmax =150MeV)=(5.1±0.4±0.2) ×10-6, B(B0→K+π-nγ;Eγmax =105MeV)=(18.1±0. 6±0.6)×10-6, B(B0→K+K-nγ;Eγmax =59MeV)

Abstract: We present measurements of the total production rates and momentum distributions of the charmed baryon Λc+ in e+e-→hadrons at a center-of-mass energy of 10.54 GeV and in Υ(4S) decays. In hadronic events at 10.54 GeV, charmed hadrons are almost exclusively leading particles in e+e-→cc̄ events, allowing direct studies of c-quark fragmentation. We measure a momentum distribution for Λc+ baryons that differs significantly from those measured previously for charmed mesons. Comparing with a number of models, we find none that can describe the distribution completely. We measure an average scaled momentum of xp=0.574±0.009 and a total rate of NΛcqq̄=0.057±0.002(exp.)±0.015(BF)Λc+ per hadronic event, where the experimental error is much smaller than that due to the branching fraction into the reconstructed decay mode, pK-π+. In Υ(4S) decays we measure a total rate of NΛcΥ=0.091±0. 006(exp.)±0.024(BF) per Υ(4S) decay, and find a much softer momentum distribution than expected from B decays into a Λc+ plus an antinucleon and one to three pions. © 2007 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We report the observation of e+e-→η near s=10.58GeV with 6.5σ significance in the K+K-γγ final state in a data sample of 224fb-1 collected by the BABAR experiment at the PEP-II e+e- storage rings. We measure the restricted radiation-corrected cross section to be σ(e+e-→η)=2.1±0.4(stat)±0.1(syst)fb within the range |cosθ*|

Abstract: We present branching fraction measurements of charged and neutral B decays to Dπ-, D*π-, and "D**"π- with a missing mass method, based on a sample of 231×106 Υ(4S)→BB̄ pairs collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e+e- collider. One of the B mesons is fully reconstructed and the other one decays to a reconstructed charged π and a companion charmed meson identified by its recoil mass, inferred by kinematics. Here "D**" refers to the sum of all the nonstrange charm meson states with masses in the range 2.2-2.8GeV/c2. We measure the branching fractions: B(B-→D0π-)=(4.49±0.21±0.23) ×10-3, B(B-→D*0π-)=(5.13±0.22±0.28)×10- 3, B(B-→"D**0"π-)=(5.50±0.52±1.04) ×10-3, B(B̄0→D+π-)=(3.03±0.23±0.23)×10-3, B(B̄0→D*+π-)=(2.99±0.23±0.24)×10-3, B(B̄0→"D**+"π-)=(2.34±0.65±0. 88)×10-3, and their ratios. © 2006 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We measure the dependence of B̄0→D*+e-ν̄e on the decay angles and momentum transfer. The data sample consists of ∼86×106 BB̄-pairs accumulated on the Υ(4S) resonance by the BABAR detector at the asymmetric e+e- collider PEP-II. We specify the three form factors by two ratios R1 and R2, and by a single parameter ρ2 characterizing the polynomial representing hA1, the function which describes the momentum-transfer dependence of the form factor A1. We determine R1, R2, and ρ2 using an unbinned maximum likelihood fit to the full decay distribution. The results are R1=1.396±0.060±0.035±0.027, R2=0.885±0.040±0.022±0.013, and ρ2=1.145±0. 059±0.030±0.035. The stated uncertainties are the statistical from the data, statistical from the size of the Monte Carlo sample and the systematic uncertainty, respectively. In addition, based on this measurement, we give an updated value for the CKM matrix element |Vcb|. © 2006 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We study the decay B0→D*+D*-KS0 using (230±2) ×106BB̄ pairs collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II B factory. We measure a branching fraction B(B0→D*+D*-KS0)=(4. 4±0.4±0.7)×10-3 and find evidence for the decay B0→D*-Ds1+(2536) with a significance of 4.6σ. A time-dependent CP asymmetry analysis is also performed to study the possible resonant contributions to B0→D*+D*-KS0 and the sign of cos2β. Our measurement indicates that there is a sizable resonant contribution to the decay B0→D*+D*-KS0 from an unknown Ds1+ state with large width, and that cos2β is positive at the 94% confidence level under certain theoretical assumptions. © 2006 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We study the initial-state-radiation processes e+e-→K+K-π+π- γ and e+e-→K+K-π0π0γ using an integrated luminosity of 232fb-1 collected at the Υ(4S) mass with the BABAR detector at SLAC. Even though these reactions are dominated by intermediate states with excited kaons, we are able to study for the first time the cross section for e+e-→ (1020)f0(980) as a function of center-of-mass energy. We observe a structure near threshold consistent with a 1 - resonance with mass m=2.175±0. 010±0.015GeV/c2 and width Γ=58±16±20MeV. We observe no Y(4260) signal and set a limit of BY→ π+π-•ΓeeY

Abstract: We report measurements of the inclusive electron momentum spectra in decays of charged and neutral B mesons, and of the ratio of semileptonic branching fractions B(B+→Xeν) and B(B0→Xeν). These were performed on a sample of 231×106 BB̄ events recorded with the BABAR detector at the Υ(4S) resonance. Events are selected by fully reconstructing a hadronic decay of one B meson and identifying an electron among the decay products of the recoiling B̄ meson. We obtain B(B+→Xeν)/B(B0→Xeν)=1. 074±0.041(stat)±0.026(syst). © 2006 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: Using 232fb-1 of e+e- collision data recorded by the BABAR experiment, we measure the rates of three-body Cabibbo-suppressed decays of the D0 meson relative to the Cabibbo-favored decay, D0→K-π+π0. We find: B(D0→π-π+π0)B(D0→K-π+π0)=(10.59±0.06±0. 13)×10-2 and B(D0→K-K+π0)B(D0→K-π+π0)=(2.37±0. 03±0.04)×10-2, where the errors are statistical and systematic, respectively. These measurements are significantly more precise than the current world average measurements. © 2006 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: In a study of B+→J/ψγK+ decays, we find evidence for the radiative decay X(3872)→J/ψγ with a statistical significance of 3.4σ. We measure the product of branching fractions B(B+→X(3872)K+) •B(X(3872)→J/ψγ)=(3.3±1.0±0.3)×10-6, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. We also measure the branching fraction B(B+→χc1K+)=(4.9±0.2±0.4) ×10-4. These results are obtained from (287±3) million BB̄ decays collected at the Υ(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II B Factory at SLAC. © 2006 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We present a search for the decay of a B0 or B̄0 meson to a K̄*0K0 or K*0K̄0 final state, using a sample of approximately 232×106 BB̄ events collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric energy e+e- collider at SLAC. The measured branching fraction is B(B0→K̄*0K0)+B(B0→K*0K̄0)=(0.2-0.8- 0.3+0.9+0.1)×10-6. We obtain the following upper limit for the branching fraction at 90% confidence level: B(B0→K̄*0K0) +B(B0→K*0K̄0)

Abstract: We present measurements of branching fractions of B0 decays to multibody final states containing protons, based on 232×106 Υ(4S)→BB̄ decays collected with the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric-energy B factory. We measure the branching fractions B(B0→D̄0pp̄)=(1. 13±0.06±0.08)×10-4, B(B0→D̄*0pp̄)=(1. 01±0.10±0.09)×10-4, B(B0→D-pp̄π+)=(3. 38±0.14±0.29)×10-4, and B(B0→D*-pp̄π+)= (4.81±0.22±0.44)×10-4 where the first error is statistical and the second systematic. We present a search for the charmed pentaquark state, Θc(3100) observed by H1 and put limits on the branching fraction B(B0→Θcp̄π+)×B(Θc→D*-p)

Abstract: Branching fraction and asymmetry measurements of charmless B+→K*+h1+h2- (where h1,2=K, π) decays are presented, using a data sample of 232×106 Υ(4S)→BB̄ decays collected with the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric-energy B factory. Using a maximum likelihood fit, the following branching fraction results were obtained: B(B+→K*+K+K-)=(36.2±3.3±3.6)×10-6 and B(B+→K*+π+π-)=(75.3±6.0±8.1)×10-6. Upper limits were set for B(B+→K*+π+K-)

Abstract: We present a study of the decays B̄0→D(*)0K̄(*)0 using a sample of 226×106 Υ(4S)→BB̄ decays collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e- collider at SLAC. We report evidence for the decay of B0 and B̄0 mesons to the D*0KS0 final state with an average branching fraction B(B∼0→D*0K∼0) ≡(B(B̄0→D*0K̄0)+B(B0→D*0K0))/2=(3. 6±1.2±0.3)×10-5. Similarly, we measure B(B∼0→ D0K∼0)≡(B(B̄0→D0K̄0)+B(B0→D0K0))/2=(5.3±0. 7±0.3)×10-5 for the D0KS0 final state. We measure B(B̄0→D0K̄*0)=(4.0±0.7±0.3)×10-5 and set a 90% confidence level upper limit B(B̄0→D̄0K̄*0)

Abstract: We analyze the three-body charmless decay B ± →K ± K ± K using a sample of 226.0±2.5 million BB̄ pairs collected by the BABAR detector. We measure the total branching fraction and CP asymmetry to be B=(35.2±0.9±1.6) ×10 - 6 and A CP =(-1.7±2.6±1.5)%. We fit the Dalitz plot distribution using an isobar model and measure the magnitudes and phases of the decay coefficients. We find no evidence of CP violation for the individual components of the isobar model. The decay dynamics is dominated by the K + K - S-wave, for which we perform a partial-wave analysis in the region m(K + K - ) < 2GeV/c2. Significant production of the f 0 (980) resonance, and of a spin zero state near 1.55GeV/c2 are required in the isobar model description of the data. The partial-wave analysis supports this observation. © 2006 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We present branching fraction measurements of 12 B meson decays of the form B→D( * )Ds(J)(*). The results are based on Υ(4S) decays in BB̄ pairs. One of the B mesons is fully reconstructed and the other decays to two charm mesons, of which one is reconstructed, and the mass and momentum of the other is inferred by kinematics. Combining these results with previous exclusive branching fraction measurements, we determine B(Ds-→ π - )=(4.62±0.36 stat. ±0.51 syst. )%, B(D sJ (2460) - →Ds*-π0)= (56±13 stat. ±9 syst. )% and B(D sJ (2460) - →Ds-γ)=(16±4 stat. ±3 syst. )%. © 2006 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: A study of the DsJ*(2317)+ and DsJ(2460) + mesons in inclusive cc̄ production is presented using 232fb-1 of data collected by the BABAR experiment near √s=10.6GeV. Final states consisting of a Ds+ meson along with one or more π0, π±, or γ particles are considered. Estimates of the mass and limits on the width are provided for both mesons and for the Ds1(2536)+ meson. A search is also performed for neutral and doubly charged partners of the DsJ*(2317)+ meson. © 2006 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We present a search for the rare B-meson decay B0→a1±ρ with a1±→π + π - π ± . We use (110±1.2)×106Υ(4S)→BB̄ decays collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory at SLAC. We obtain an upper limit of 30×10 - 6(90%C.L.) for the branching fraction product B(B0→a1±ρ)B(a1±→π + π - π ± ), where we assume that the a1± decays exclusively to ρ0π ± . © 2006 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We describe searches for decays of B mesons to the charmless final states η′η′K. The data consist of 228×106 BB̄ pairs produced in e+e- annihilation, collected with the BABAR detector at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. The 90% confidence level upper limits for the branching fractions are B(B0→η′η′K0)

Abstract: We present measurements of the B→ηKγ branching fractions and upper limits for the B→η′Kγ branching fractions. For B+→ηK+γ we also measure the time-integrated charge asymmetry. The data sample, collected with the BABAR detector at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, represents 232×106 produced BB̄ pairs. The results for branching fractions and upper limits at 90% confidence level in units of 10-6 are: B(B0→ηK0γ)=11.3-2.6+2.8±0.6, B(B+→ηK+γ)=10.0±1.3±0.5, B(B0→η′ K0γ)

Abstract: We present the first search for the decay B0→KS0KS0KL0 using a data sample of 232×106 BB̄ pairs. We find no statistically significant evidence for the nonresonant component of this decay. Our central value for the branching fraction, assuming the true Dalitz distribution is uniform and excluding the resonance, is B(B0→KS0KS0KL0)=(2.4-2.5+2.7±0.6) ×10-6 where the errors are statistical and systematic, respectively. We set a single-sided Bayesian upper limit of B(B0→KS0KS0KL0)

Abstract: We analyze the three-body charmless decay B ± →K ± K ± K using a sample of 226.0±2.5 million BB̄ pairs collected by the BABAR detector. We measure the total branching fraction and CP asymmetry to be B=(35.2±0.9±1.6) ×10 - 6 and A CP =(-1.7±2.6±1.5)%. We fit the Dalitz plot distribution using an isobar model and measure the magnitudes and phases of the decay coefficients. We find no evidence of CP violation for the individual components of the isobar model. The decay dynamics is dominated by the K + K - S-wave, for which we perform a partial-wave analysis in the region m(K + K - ) < 2GeV/c2. Significant production of the f 0 (980) resonance, and of a spin zero state near 1.55GeV/c2 are required in the isobar model description of the data. The partial-wave analysis supports this observation. © 2006 The American Physical Society.
