(1) Background: Adolescence is a critical period when dietary choices are a major concern. It is therefore important to understand the psychological factors that explain these choices. The objective of this study was to assess the predictive role of perceived self-efficacy for healthy eating and weight regulation on healthy and unhealthy eating behavior through the mediation of autonomous motivation, controlled motivation, amotivation, and perceived barriers to daily mechanisms affecting healthy consumption. (2) Methods: A total of 994 adolescents between 15 and 19 years old from Mexico and Spain participated in the study. The Spanish versions of the healthy eating and weight self-efficacy questionnaire, the behavioral regulation in exercise questionnaire, the barriers to healthy eating scale, and the weight-related behaviors scale questionnaire were used to measure the variables of interest. (3) Results: Mediated serial regression analysis showed that barriers to healthy eating (the daily mechanism of food consumption) reduced healthy eating choices. Healthy eating and weight self-efficacy also showed a positive significant relationship with autonomous motivation and a negative relationship with controlled motivation and amotivation. All the types of motivation showed a positive relationship with barriers to healthy eating. (4) Conclusions: The results point out the need to enhance self-efficacy, promote autonomous motivation, and reduce perceived barriers in young people with respect to healthy eating. Objective: To understand the psychological antecedents or personal factors that lead to weight control behaviours that can help to develop more effective prevention strategies.Design: The present correlational study has a non-experimental, quantitative, cross-sectional design. A model was tested considering types of motivation (autonomous motivation, controlled motivation and amotivation) as mediators in the relationship between the Grit personality and healthy and unhealthy weight control behaviours, with self-control as a moderator in the aforementioned indirect effects.Setting: Monterrey (Nuevo León, México).Participants: A representative sample of 1219 adults (men = 599; women = 620) aged 18-65 years (M = 29·37, sd = 11·83).Results: Findings supported the mediator role of the types of motivation. Specifically, Grit showed a positive indirect effect on healthy weight control behaviours through autonomous motivation. Conversely, Grit showed a negative indirect effect on unhealthy weight control behaviours through autonomous motivation. Furthermore, findings supported the moderator role of self-control in the relationship between amotivation and healthy and unhealthy weight control behaviours.Conclusions: This study provides evidence for the key role of Grit in the adoption of healthy or unhealthy control behaviours, as well as the role of autonomous motivation in the development of healthy behaviours. Athletes have to face several challenges during the sport season, and one of them could involve dealing with unattainable goals. In these situations, being able to reengage in other goals as a form of goal adjustment and in response to contextual demands is adaptive. According to previous literature, some aspects of the athletes' social context, such as coach-created motivational climates, could encourage more adaptive responses in athletes, and so it is possible that these climates would also promote athletes' goal regulation and goal reengagement. The purpose of this study was twofold: to analyze whether athletes' perception of empowering and disempowering climates were related to their goal reengagement through the mediation of goal motives; and to examine the interaction between the two climates when they predict reengagement through athletes' goal motives. Participants were 414 Spanish university athletes (49.5% male, 50.5% female) who belonged to different university teams, with ages ranging from 17 to 33 years old (M = 20.61, SD = 2.58). In the sport facilities, all of them completed questionnaires that evaluated their perception of empowering and disempowering climates, their goal motives, and their goal reengagement. Structural equation modeling (SEM) results showed that perceived empowering climate positively predicted autonomous goal motives, which in turn had a positive relationship with goal reengagement. Conversely, perceived disempowering climate positively predicted controlled goal motives, which were not related to goal reengagement. Thus, we only found support for the indirect relationship between perceived empowering climate and goal reengagement through autonomous goal motives. Moderated mediation analyses revealed that interaction effects between perceived empowering and disempowering climates were not significant in the prediction of goal reengagement through goal motives. Findings revealed that the perception of empowering climates promotes athletes' goal reengagement when goals become unattainable via the increase in their autonomous goal motives. Conversely, when athletes perceive disempowering climates, they have more controlled goal motives, which are not related to goal reengagement. This artide explores the reliability and validity of the Spanish version of the Multidimensional Motivational Climate Observation System (MMCOS), an instrument based on observational methodology in order to assess the coach-created motivational environment in sport from conceptualization proposed by Duda in 2013, which integrates the Achievement Goal Theory and the Sdf-Determination Theory. The study examines the interobserver reliability, the general characteristics of the data obtained by the instrument, the factorial structure of the MMCOS and the predictive validity of the observational system in relation to athlete's reported intentions to drop-out. Thirty-six male grassroots coaches were filmed during a training session and assessed by MMCOS and two hundred and ninety-three players completed a questionnaire that evaluated their intentions to drop-out in the next soccer season. Overall, the results, which indicated satisfactory reliability and provided validity evidences are discussed around the characteristics of the MMCOS. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

From the framework of the AGT (Ames, 1992; Nicholls, 1989), the SDT (Ryan and Deci, 2017) and Duda's (2013) motivational climate model, the aim of the study was to test two models throught the sequence: Perception of the coach created empowering climate, satisfaction of the basic psychological needs (BPNS) and self-determined motivation. In both, we tested the mediational role of the BPNS (competence, autonomy and relationship), as a composite variable in the first model (M1), and as separated dimensions in the second (M2). 240 young soccer players (Mage = 12.41; SD = .1.66), completed the questionnaires assessing the variables of interest. Results showed that in M1 empowering climate was a positive predictor of self-determined motivation through the BPNS, while in M2 empowering climate was a positive predictor of self-determined motivation only through the satisfaction of the need for autonomy. The aim of this study was to analyze how the relationship between the perfectionism of the athletes and their goal orientations at individual level is affected by the perception of the motivational climate generated by the coach at team level. Participants were 144 athletes of both genders, belonging to 18 different sports teams, who answered a set of questionnaires to measure the study variables. Results of the multilevel hierarchical model showed that individual differences in task orientation were predicted by individual factors (striving for perfectionism), and team factors (perceptions of task-involving climate and ego-involving climate created by the coach). The psychometric properties of the Spanish version of the Sport Climate Questionnaire (S-SCQ) (SDT, Sport Climate Questionnaire, n.d.) were determined from a sample of 301 Spanish high-level competitive athletes (171 men and 130 women) from the Community of Valencia. The S-SCQ assesses athletes perceptions of coach-provided autonomy support. The assumed uni-dimensional structure of both the long and short versions of the instrument was supported. Both versions also exhibited high reliability (internal consistency). Support for the convergent validity of the scale(s) was also obtained as the measure of coach autonomy support significantly related to the different types of motivation regulations (as assessed via the Sport Motivation Scale; Pelletier et al., 1995), in accordance with theoretical predictions.
