Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka hur internetbaserade musiklärare konstruerar sin syn på videoundervisning. För att undersöka detta har fokusgrupper bestående av internetbaserade musiklärare använts som datainsamlingsmetod. Studien har en kvalitativ forskningsansats och en socialkonstruktionistisk ontologisk och epistemologisk utgångspunkt, och diskurspsykologi används som teoretiskt och analytiskt perspektiv. I resultatet synliggörs tolkningsrepertoarer där olika synsätt på videoundervisning uttrycks. Dessa tolkningsrepertoarer framställs ibland som motstridiga, så som framställningarna av videoundervisning som begränsande respektive som fördelaktigt. Detsamma gäller framställningarna av videoundervisning som något för många respektive som något för få. Däremot rådde samstämmighet i tolkningsrepertoaren som framställer videoundervisning som marknadsstyrt. Resultatet diskuteras i relation till tidigare forskning om instruktionsvideor, YouTube och musiklärares syn på undervisning. The purpose of this study is to examine how internet-based music teachers construct their views towards video lessons. To examine this, focus groups consisting of internet-based music teachers were used as a method for data collection. The study has a qualitative research approach and a social constructionist ontological and epistemological view, and discourse psychology is used as a theoretical and analytical framework. The results shed light on interpretative repertoires where different views towards video lessons are expressed. Sometimes these interpretative repertoires are described as conflicting, such as the descriptions of video lessons as limiting or as beneficial. This is also true for the descriptions of video lessons as something for a large audience or video lessons as something for a small audience. Other interpretative repertoires are unanimous, such as the description of video lessons as market driven. The results are discussed in relation to previous research on instructional videos, YouTube and music teachers' views on teaching.

Studiens syfte är att belysa vilka olika diskursers som kommer till uttryck när musiklärare i gymnasie- och folkhögskolan talar om fenomenet prestationsångest hos elever och hur de arbetar med det i sin undervisning. Diskurspsykologi utgör den teoretiska grunden för studien och tillämpade datainsamlingsmetoden är fokusgrupper. Två fokusgruppsamtal genomfördes där lärare från olika skolor samtalade kring ämnet prestationsångest kopplat till musikundervisning. Samtalen spelades in, transkriberades och analyserades i sökandet efter tolkningsrepertoarer. I resultatet presenteras ett antal olika tolkningsrepertoarer kring lärarnas beskrivning av sin syn på prestationsångest och sitt arbete med att förebygga och hantera prestationsångest hos sina elever. Viss motsättning framkom mellan olika tolkningsrepertoarer, exempelvis synen på prestationsångest som något som kommer inifrån och prestationsångest som något som kommer utifrån. Som metoder för att förebygga och hantera prestationsångest lyfts bland annat ett analyserande och icke-värderande språkbruk, förberedelse och mental träning. I diskussionen lyfts de mest framträdande delarna av resultat och diskuteras i relation till presenterad litteratur och tidigare forskning inom området. En slutsats som dras är att arbete med prestationsångest konstrueras som komplext men mycket angeläget. The purpose of the study is to illuminate the different discourses that are expressed when music teachers discuss the phenomena of music performance anxiety among students, and how they address the issue in their teaching. Discourse psychology is the theoretical framework of the study and focus group interviews were used as the method for data collection. Two different focus group interviews took place, where teachers from different schools discussed the topic of performance anxiety in music education. The conversations were recorded, transcribed and analyzed in the search for interpretative repertoires. The result presents a number of different interpretative repertoires that shows how the teachers describe their views on performance anxiety and their work to prevent and manage it with their students. Some degree of conflict is shown between different interpretative repertoires such as performance anxiety as something that comes from within and performance anxiety as something that is affected by external factors. An analytical and non-evaluating language, preparation and mental training are some examples of methods to prevent and manage performance anxiety that the teachers described. The most prominent aspects of the results are discussed in relation to literature and previous research within the field. One conclusion that is made is that performance anxiety is being constructed as a complex phenomenon, but one that is really important to address.

Studiens teoretiska ramverk utgörs av diskurspsykologi. För att undersöka detta har fokusgrupper använts som metod där stråkpedagoger inom musik- och kulturskolor har fått diskutera sina synsätt på genrebredd. Gruppsamtalen spelades in med både ljud och bild för att sedan transkriberas. Transkriptionerna analyserades med diskursanalys för att urskilja vilka tolkningsrepertoarer som framträder i samtalen. I resultatdelen beskrivs de olika tolkningsrepertoarerna som framträtt. För att undersöka detta har fokusgrupper bestående av musikteorilärare använts som datainsamlingsmetod. I analysen av intervjuerna har ett diskurspsykologiskt perspektiv använts. Studien har en kvalitativ forskningsansats och en socialkonstruktionistisk epistemologisk utgångspunkt. I resultatet synliggörs tolkningsrepertoarer där lärarna beskriver relationen mellan musikteori och musikalisk praktik. Dessa tolkningsrepertoarer framställs ibland som motstridiga, såsom framställningen av musikteori som något som gynnar kontra hindrar inlärning av klingande musik. Det rådde däremot samstämmighet i tolkningsrepertoaren som framställde musikteori som något som får sin mening endast i och med musikalisk praktik. Resultatet diskuteras i relation till tidigare forskning om musikteoriämnets historiska rötter respektive ämnets relation till nutida musikutövande samt forskning om musikteoriundervisning och dess roll i musikalisk utveckling. The purpose of this study is to examine how music theory teachers constructs and work with the relationship between music theory and musical practice in teaching. To examine this, focus groups consisting of music theory teachers were used as method for data collection. A discourse psycological view was used to analyze the interviews. Sometimes these interpretative repertoires are described as conflicting, such as the description of music theory as something that benefits versus obstructs the learning of musical practice. Other interpretative repertoires have been unanimous, such as the rendering that music theory gets its meaning only in association with musical practice. The result is discussed in relation to previous research of the historical roots of music theory in contrast to the subjects’ relationship to contemporary musical performance and also research about music theory education and its role in musical development.

Syftet med föreliggande studie är att undersöka lärares arbete med rekrytering av bleckblåselever på svenska musik- och kulturskolor. Studien behandlar verksamma bleckblåslärares skildringar av strategier som används för att rekrytera elever och vilka utmaningar som de intervjuade bleckblåslärarna beskriver gällande rekryteringrelaterat arbete. Metoden som använts är fokusgruppsamtal där totalt nio lärare intervjuades i grupper à tre. Bearbetning och analys av det insamlade datamaterialet genomfördes med utgångspunkt i det sociokulturella perspektivet. Resultatet synliggör strategier som handlar om att bjuda in barn och föräldrar till musik- och kulturskolan för att prova instrument, vilket också beskrivs som en form av marknadsföring. Samtliga fokusgrupper beskriver också social gemenskap i form av förberedande bleckblåsgrupper, till vilka barn rekryteras för att senare rekryteras vidare till musik- och kulturskolans instrumentalundervisning. Samtidigt beskrivs utmaningar gällande inkludering av föräldrar i musik- och kulturskolans verksamhet. Avslutningsvis diskuteras musik- och kulturskolans marknadsföring och föräldrars förståelse för verksamheten i relation till det sociokulturella perspektivet. The purpose of the present study is to examine the teachers’ work on recruitment of brass students at Swedish music and cultural schools. The study processes active brass teachers’ depictions of strategies used to recruit students as well as what challenges the interviewed brass teachers describe about recruitment-related work. The method used in the present study is focus group interviews where a total of nine teachers were interviewed in groups of three. Processing and analysis of the collected data material was carried out on the basis of the sociocultural perspective. The result highlights strategies that involve inviting children and parents to the music- and cultural school to try out instruments are described, which is also described as a form of marketing. All focus groups also describe social community of preparatory brass groups, to which children are recruited and later recruited to the instrumental teaching of the music- and cultural school. At the same time, challenges regarding the inclusion of parents in music and cultural school activities are described. Finally, the marketing and parents’ understanding of the activities in relation to the sociocultural perspective.

Syftet med studien är att undersöka hur musiklärare inom musikskola, gymnasiet och högskola ser på och arbetar med nervositet och scenskräck i undervisning. Studiens teoretiska grund utgörs av diskurspsykologi. Fokusgrupper har tillämpats som datainsamlingsmetod vilket inneburit två olika gruppsamtal där lärare diskuterat om ämnet scenskräck och nervositet. Samtalen spelades in, transkriberades och analyserades utifrån en diskurspsykologisk synvinkel i ett sökande efter tolkningsrepertoarer. Resultatet presenteras utifrån tolkningsrepertoarer om hur lärarna formulerade sin syn på nervositet. Två motstridiga repertoarer framkom i resultatet: nervositet som plötsligt angripande och nervositet som kan bemästras där nervositet konstruerades som både ett störningsmoment och som något önskvärt. Ålder, mognad och musikalisk utveckling formulerades påverka nervositet genom tolkningsrepertoaren nervositet ur ett mognadsperspektiv. Vidare formulerade respondenterna sitt arbete med nervositet och scenskräck i undervisning vilket synliggjorde tolkningsrepertoaren genre och arbete med nervositet. I denna tolkningsrepertoar lyftes genre som påverkande för arbetet med nervositet. I repertoaren läraren som terapeut konstruerade lärarna sig som inkännande utifrån samtal som metod. Repertoaren mental träning som fenomen formulerade ett förebyggande arbete som något värdefullt men tidskrävande, vilket kan ställas emot repertoaren nervositet som tidskrävande arbete där lärarna formulerade en tidsbrist och en känsla av otillräcklighet i arbetet med nervositet. Diskussionen lyfter resultatet i förhållande till tidigare forskning och litteratur där fyra områden diskuteras: Lärares syn på nervositet och elevpåverkan, hantera nervositet genom samtal, arbetet med nervositet i förhållande till tidsamt syn på nervositet och genrers påverkan. The purpose of this study is to investigate how music teachers in music school, upper secondary school and music college view and work with nervousness and stage fright in teaching. The theoretical framework of the study is discourse psychology. Focus groups have been used as a data collection method, which has involved two different group discussions where teachers discussed the topic of stage fright and nervousness. The conversations were recorded, transcribed and analyzed from a discourse psychological point of view, in search of interpretative repertoires or small discourses. The result is presented through different interpretive repertoires on how teachers formulated their views on nervousness and stage fright. There, two contradictory repertoires emerged: nervousness as suddenly attacking and nervousness that can be mastered, where nervousness was constructed as both a disturbing moment and as something desirable. Age, maturity and musical development were formulated to influence nervousness through the interpretative repertoire nervousness from a maturity perspective. Furthermore, the respondents formulated their work with nervousness and stage fright in teaching, which made visible the interpretation repertoire genre and work with nervousness. There, the genre was emphasized as influencing the work on nervousness. In the repertoire teacher as a therapist, teachers constructed themselves as empathetic through conversation as a method. The repertoire mental training as a phenomenon formulated a preventive work as something valuable but time-consuming, which can be put opposite the repertoire nervousness as time-consuming work, where the teachers formulated a lack of time and a feeling of insufficiency. The discussion lifts the result in relation to previous research and literature where four areas are discussed: Teacher’s view on nervousness and student influence, dealing with nervousness through conversations, work with nervousness in relation to time and views on nervousness and the influence of genres.

Syftet med studien är att ta reda på vilka motivationsfaktorer som elever i olika ensembler på kulturskolan erfar och om det skiljer sig något mellan fokusgrupperna. Bakgrundskapitlet belyser litteratur och tidigare forskning inom området motivation, instrumentalspel och gruppsykologi. Arbetets vetenskaps- och kunskapsteoretiska utgångspunkter är interpretativism och konstruktionism. Studiens teoretiska perspektiv är fenomenologi med inriktning mot livsvärldsperspektivet. Studiens forskningsmetod innefattar semistrukturerade interjuver med fyra olika fokusgrupper från fyra olika ensembler på kulturskolan. Materialet analyserades utifrån tematisk analysmetod. I analysen av resultatet har två övergripande teman, sociala- och musikaliska faktorer, framkommit. De sociala faktorerna berör elevers erfarande av att det är att umgås med vänner i ensemblen, träffa människor i olika åldrar, ha en god relation med sina lärare och att ha eget ansvar i ensemblen. Det framkom också att musicera tillsammans, att utvecklas på sitt instrument, lära sig av varandra och att medverka i konsertsamanhang var motiverande faktorer för att spela i ensemble. Ett antal icke motiverande faktorer framkom även bland annat tidsbrist, för svåra eller lätta låtar, olika åsikter i ensemblen och att vänner slutar i ensemblen. Skillnader gällande synen på medbestämmande, ensemblens funktion och medverkan på konserter har också framkommit. Avslutningsvis diskuteras, i förhållande till tidigare presenterad litteratur och forskning inom området, betydelsen av det sociala umgänget, musikaliska upplevelsen, medbestämmandet och tidsbristen. The purpose of this study is to find out what motivational factors pupils in different ensembles at the cultural school experience and if there is any difference between the focus groups. The background chapter illustrates literature and previous research in the area of ​​motivation, instrumental playing and group psychology. The work's scientific and knowledge theoretical principles are interpretativism and constructionism. The theoretical perspective of the study is phenomenology with a focus on the life-world perspective. The study's research method includes semi-structured interviews with four different focus groups from four different ensembles at the culture school. The material was analyzed based on the thematic analysis method. In the analysis of the result, two overarching themes, social and musical factors, have emerged. The social factors affect students' experience of being with friends in the ensemble, meeting people of different ages, having a good relationship with their teachers and having their own responsibility in the ensemble. It also emerged that playing music together, developing on their instrument, learning from each other and participating in concert contexts were motivating factors for playing in an ensemble. A number of non-motivational factors also emerged including lack of time, too difficult or easy tunes, different opinions in the ensemble and that friends quit the ensemble. Differences regarding the view of co-deciding the function of the ensemble and participation in concerts have also emerged. Finally, the results are discussed in relation to previously presented literature and research in the field. The significance of social interaction, musical experience, co-determination and lack of time was discussed in the concluding chapter.

Studiens syfte är att undersöka sånglärares syn på röstbenämningar och röstkvaliteter inom sångundervisning samt deras beskrivningar av arbetet med röstregisterbenämningar i undervisningen. Studiens teoretiska ramverk utgörs av diskursanalys med en diskurspsykologisk ansats. Datainsamlingsmetoden har utgjorts av fokusgruppssamtal där lärare från olika typer av sångundervisningssammanhang har samtalat om sin syn på röstregister. Samtalen skedde via videosamtal och spelades in med ljud och bild. Efter transkriptionen av samtalen analyserades materialet med diskursanalys för att urskilja diverse tolkningsrepertoarer. I resultatet framgår ett antal tolkningsrepertoarer där sånglärarnas formuleringar kring, användande av och erfarenheter kring röstregisterbenämningar lyfts. Resultatet visar att sånglärarna anpassar benämningarna beroende på elevernas förståelse, vilket pekar mot en individualisering utifrån ålder och nivå. I sånglärarnas uttalanden framgår en kontrast vad gäller sätt att arbeta med röstbenämningar i undervisningen, det vill säga som något uttalat eller som något outsagt. I resultatet framgår hur vissa av lärarna konstruerar och argumenterar för begreppen som knutna till musikaliska inriktningar. Dessutom lyfts en uppfattning att sångläraren hellre lär ut något som denne själv är väl bevandrad i, vilket tydliggör ännu en möjlig slutsats: att sångläraren lär ut inom området som denne kan, snarare än vad som eleven är mest bekväm i.I lärarnas uttalanden framgår en tolkningsrepertoar i hur sånglärarnas egna frustrationer och erfarenheter av svårigheter blivit en drivkraft för deras undervisning. I diskussionen lyfts de i resultatet mest framträdande tolkningsrepertoarerna och diskuteras i relation till det teoretiska perspektivet och tidigare presenterad relevant litteratur och forskning. The purpose of this study is to examine voice teachers’ perspective on terms regarding voice registers and their descriptions of the work with voice registers in voice education. The theoretical framework of the study is discourse analysis with a discourse psychological approach. The method for data collection was focus groups, where voice teachers from a variety of voice educations talked about their views on voice registers. The conversations were conducted via a video call and were recorded with both audio and video. After the transcription, the material was analysed with discourse analysis to distinguish various interpretative repertoires. The result shows a number of interpretative repertoires as the voice teachers describe their constructions, uses of and experiences regarding voice registers. The result shows that the voice teachers adapt the terms depending on the understanding of the pupils, which indicates an individualization based on age and level of education. In the voice teachers’ statements a contrast is evident in ways of working with register terms, that is, as something articulated or unarticulated. The result shows how some of the educators construct and argue for the use of concepts in relation to musical genres. In addition, a view is raised that the voice educator rather teachssomething in which he or she is familiar with, which clarifies yet another possible conclusion: that the voice educator teaches in the field that he or she is mastering, rather than what the pupil is most comfortable with. In the statements of the voice teachers an interpretative repertoire appears in how the voice educators' own frustration and experience of difficulties have become a driving force for their own teaching. In the discussion, the most prominent interpretative repertoires are raised from the results and discussed in relation to the theoretical perspective and previously presented relevant literature and research.

Syftet med studien är undersöka hur såväl lärare som elever på gymnasieskolans estetiska pro- gram och på musikhögskola ser på begreppen konstnärligt, musikaliskt och personligt uttryck. Tidigare forskning på området visar att det inte finns någon entydig definition av begreppen. Studien har genomförts genom fokusgruppsamtal med lärare från en gymnasieskola, lärare från en musikhögskola, elever från en gymnasieskola och studenter från en musikhögskola. I ana- lysen av intervjuerna har ett diskurspsykologiskt perspektiv använts. I resultatet presenteras två övergripande tolkningsrepertoarer per begrepp. Det framkommer att musikaliskt uttryck kon- strueras som speltekniskt kunnande och som musikens uttryck. Konstnärligt uttryck konstrueras som skapande samt som fördjupning och spetskunskaper. Personligt uttryck konstrueras som eget och något unikt samt som musikalisk tolkning. Resultatet visar att det inte finns ett sätt att definiera begreppen utan flera. I diskussionen diskuteras svårigheter med att definiera begrep- pen då dessa anses gå ihop med varandra och att kontexten och erfarenheten av att använda dem har betydelse för hur de kan definieras. Vidare diskuteras även begreppen i relation till Skolverkets kursplaner. The purpose of the study is to investigate how teachers as well as pupils at the upper secondary school's aesthetic program and at the music college approach the concepts of artistic, musical and personal expression. Previous research in the field shows that there is no clear definition of the concepts. The study was conducted through focus group interviews with teachers from a secondary school, teachers from a music college, students from a high school and students from a music college. In the analysis of the interviews, a discourse psychological perspective has been used. The result presents two general interpretation repertoires per concept. It appears that musical expression is constructed as technical knowledge and as the expression of music. Ar- tistic expression is constructed as creation as well as profound and expert knowledge. Personal expression is constructed as peculiar and something unique and as a musical interpretation. The result shows that there are different ways to define the concepts. The discussion discusses dif- ficulties in defining the concept though the concepts are considered to overlap with each other and that the context and experience of using the concepts are important for how the concepts can be defined. The concepts are also discussed in relation to Skolverkets curriculum.

Studiens syfte är att undersöka instrumentlärares syn på och arbete med improvisation i den enskilda instrumentundervisningen inom gymnasieskolan och kulturskolan. Studiens teoretiska ramverk utgörs av diskurspsykologi. För att undersöka detta har fokusgrupper använts som datainsamlingsmetod där lärare från gymnasiet och kulturskolan har samtalat om sina synsätt på improvisation. Samtalen spelades in med både ljud och bild för att sedan transkriberas och analyseras med diskursanalys för att urskilja diverse diskurser, i föreliggande studie också kallat tolkningsrepertoarer. I resultatet framträder vissa motstridiga tolkningsrepertoarer när lärarna beskriver sina synsätt på improvisation, såsom Improvisation som något frigörande och Improvisation som något hämmande. Resultatet visar att dessa motstridiga tolkningsrepertoarer kan ges uttryck för hos en och samma lärare. Samtliga lärare i studien är dock överens om att improvisation inte är bundet till en specifik genre, även om de medger att det har mer fokus i vissa kontexter. Vidare framträder vilka effekter och funktioner olika tolkningsrepertoarer har på lärarnas arbete med improvisation. Härmningsövningar är ett återkommande sätt att undervisa i improvisation utan någon särskild genrekontext som lärarna beskriver. I diskussionen lyfts resultatets mest framträdande tolkningsrepertoarer fram för att diskuteras i relation till det teoretiska perspektivet samt tidigare presenterad litteratur och forskning inom ämnet. The purpose of this study is to examine instrument teachers’ views on and work with improvisation in the individual instrumental education in upper secondary school and Swedish Community School of Music. The theoretical framework of the study is discourse psychology. To examine this, focus groups were used as method for data collection in which teachers from upper secondary school and music school talked about their views on improvisation. The conversations were recorded with both audio and image to later be transcribed and analyzed with discourse analysis to distinguish various discourses, in this study also referred to as interpretative repertoires. The result shows certain conflicting interpretative repertoires as the teachers describe their views on improvisation, such as Improvisation as something liberating and Improvisation as something inhibitory. The result shows that these conflicting interpretative repertoires can be spoken for by the same teacher. However, all the teachers in the study agrees that improvisation isn’t bound to a specific genre, although they admit that it is more focused on in certain contexts. Moreover, the effects and functions that different interpretative repertoires have on teachers’ work also appear. Mimicry exercises are a recurring way to teach improvisation without a specific context of genre, as described by the teachers. In the discussion the most prominent interpretative repertoires from the result are discussed in relation to the theoretical framework as well as previously presented literature and research within the subject matter.

Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka musikteorilärares syn på musikteori som undervisningsämne. Detta har undersökts med fokusgrupper som metod där musikteorilärare i två fokusgrupper samtalar kring sin syn på musikteori som undervisningsämne. Studiens teoretiska ram består av diskursanalys som teori och metod. De transkriberade intervjuerna har analyserats och bearbetats med hjälp av diskursanalys som analysmetod för att därigenom synliggöra olika diskurser om synsätt. Resultatet visar på fyra större diskurser kring lärares syn på musikteori: musikteori som integrerat ämne, musikteori som verktyg för olika musikaliska ändamål, musikteori som gemensamt språk och musikteori som olika aspekter av kunskap.Det framgår även flera mindre diskurser inom flera av de stora diskurserna. Resultatet visar att musikteori bör vara integrerat med andra ämnen och att musikteoretisk kunskap bör ses som praktisk och personlighetsbaserad kunskap. Resultatet visar också att musikteori är ett användbart verktyg för musicerande, att skapa musik, konstnärlighet och för att uppnå musikalisk medvetenhet. I diskussionen lyfts de fyra större diskurserna ifrån resultatet fram, och de diskuteras i relation till tidigare forskning och litteratur. The purpose of this study is to investigate music theory teachers approach to music theory as a teaching subject. This has been investigated with focus groups as a method in which music teachers in two groups are talking about their approach to music theory as a teaching subject. The theoretical framework for this study consists of discourse analysis as theory and method. The transcribed interviews have been analysed and processed using discourse analysis as an analysis method to make different discourses visible. The results show four major discourses about teachers approaches to music theory. There are also several minor discourses in several of the major discourses. The results show that music theory should be integrated with other music subjects where theoretical knowledge should be practical and personality based knowledge. The results also show that music theory is a useful tool for many different purposes. The discussion shows four major discourses: Music theory as an interactive subject, music theory as a tool for various purposes, music theory as common language and music theory as different forms of knowledge which is related to earlier studies.
