The article reflects the theoretical basis of the creativity phenomenon in music education. It draws attention to similarities and differences in the phenomenon of creativity and creation as with the sensitive author Belo Felix – a distinctive personality of music pedagogy in Czech and Slovak environment. On the basis of relevant results, it focused on the methodology of managing and developing children's musical creativity. The article emphasizes the play as a specific kind of activity in the school environment. It points out the fundamental differences between the work and the play and it emphasizes its socio-cultural dimension. It also accentuates the elementary form of creation in children's expressions as a process of creative music-making or elementary team composition (according to Belo Felix and John Paynter). In addition, it presents creative and unconventional educational activities which took place at the Slovak Youth Institute – Iuventa in Bratislava in the 1990s. Furthermore, we learn about actual and inspiring models in the music creation: Jigsaw Puzzles by Tomáš Boroš and the Different Hearing programme. From the theoretical research methods, there are deductive methods, content analysis, comparison, analysis of products of creativity and creation applied in the article. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
