In this study, a straightforward approach is presented for the first time to anchor Ir nanoparticles on the surface of uniform polyaniline (PANi) nanotubes (NTs), which can be used as an efficient peroxidase (POD)-like catalyst. The morphology and chemical structure of the PANi-Ir nanocomposite are characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), X-ray diffractometer (XRD), Raman and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) measurements. Owing to the strong interaction between Ir nanoparticles and PANi, a remarkable catalytic enhancement is achieved compared to the bare Ir black catalyst and individual PANi NTs, dominating withan electron transfer mechanism. Background: Indocyanine green (ICG) and carbon nanoparticle (CN) have been widely used for radical gastrectomy. However, synchronous application of ICG and CN in gastrectomy has not been tried yet. For the first time, we herein reported a novel strategy using dual tracers in laparoscopic radical gastrectomy., Methods: This is a single-center, single-armed, prospective study. For each qualified patient, submucosal CN was injected the day before surgery, and subserosal ICG was injected immediately before surgery. Standard D2 laparoscopic gastrectomy and lymph node examination were subsequently performed. Demographics, lymph nodes (LNs) and postoperative outcome were collected for analysis. To analyze the safety and efficacy of this novel strategy, two contemporary historic control groups using single tracer were established., Results: A total of 60 patients underwent dual tracer laparoscopic gastrectomy and were divided into distal (n = 41) and total (n = 19) groups. An average of 53.3 and 62.2 LNs was harvested from two groups, respectively. The average operation duration was 213.3 and 250.0 min, and intra-operative blood loss was 100.2 ml and 94.7 ml. None received combined organ resection. Margin negativity and R0 resection were achieved in all patients. Three (7.3%) complications occurred in distal group. None required second operation or deceased. Postoperative hospitalization was 9.7 and 9.6 days, respectively. Compared to single tracer, more LNs (p < 0.01), shorter operation time (p < 0.01), less blood lost (p < 0.01) and accelerated postoperative recovery (p < 0.01) were observed in dual tracer group., Conclusions: We propose a novel, feasible and safe tracing strategy for laparoscopic gastrectomy., Clinical Trial Registration: Chinese Clinical Trial Registry (ChiCTR2100051309)., (© 2023. A self-templated approach has been developed for the preparation of FeMnO3 nanoparticles filled in the hollow core of polypyrrole (PPy) nanotubes by an in situ polymerization process accompanied by the etching of FeMnO3 nanofibers. The prepared FeMnO3@PPy nanotubes exhibited a superior peroxidase-like activity. The catalytic reaction system has been used for the sensitive colorimetric detection of glutathione with a low detection limit and good selectivity.

Pt/polypyrrole (PPy) hybrid hollow microspheres were successfully prepared by wet chemical method via Fe(3)O(4) template and evaluated as electrocatalysts for the reduction of hydrogen peroxide. The as-synthesized products were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectra (XPS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), inductive coupled plasma emission spectrum (ICP) and Fourier-transform infrared spectra (FTIR) measurements. The results exhibited that ultra-high-density Pt nanoparticles (NPs) were well deposited on the PPy shell with the mean diameters of around 4.1nm. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) results demonstrated that Pt/PPy hybrid hollow microspheres, as enzyme-less catalysts, exhibited good electrocatalytic activity towards the reduction of hydrogen peroxide in 0.1M phosphate buffer solution (pH=7.0). The composite had a fast response of less than 2s with linear range of 1.0-8.0mM and a relatively low detection limit of 1.2microM (S/N=3). The sensitivity of the sensor for H(2)O(2) was 80.4mAM(-1)cm(-2).

Abstract: A quick and sensitive detection of ascorbic acid (AA) is essential in the fields of biosensing and disease diagnosis. In this work, an effective approach combined with electrospinning, chemical bath deposition, and calcination process is developed to encapsulate Co3O4 nanoparticle into CeO2 nanotubes as efficient peroxidase mimics for the detection of AA. The peroxidase‐like catalytic activity of the as‐prepared Co3O4@CeO2 nanotubes is much higher than that of individual Co3O4 nanofibers and CeO2 nanotubes alone due to the synergistic effect between the two components. Owing to the superior catalytic efficiency of the prepared Co3O4@CeO2 nanotubes, a colorimetric route for the rapid and accurate detection of AA with a detection limit of 0.73 × 10−9 m with a wide linear range from 0 to 0.8 × 10−6 m is demonstrated. This detection limit is much better than the previous reports based on the enzyme‐like catalytic systems. In addition, a good selectivity toward the detection of AA over amino acids, common ions, dopamine, and uric acid is achieved. This study offers a new approach for the fabrication of Co3O4@CeO2 nanotubes as sensing platform toward the detection of AA, which presents promising potential applications in biosensing, environmental monitoring, and medical diagnostics. Multicellular layers (MCLs) have previously been used to determine the pharmacokinetics of a variety of different cancer drugs including paclitaxel, doxorubicin, methotrexate, and 5-fluorouracil across a number of cell lines. It is not known how nanoparticles (NPs) navigate through the tumor microenvironment once they leave the tumor blood vessel. In this study, we used the MCL model to study the uptake and penetration dynamics of NPs. Gold nanoparticles (GNPs) were used as a model system to map the NP distribution within tissue-like structures. Our results show that NP uptake and transport are dependent on the tumor cell type. MDA-MB-231 tissue showed deeper penetration of GNPs as compared to MCF-7 one. Intracellular and extracellular distributions of NPs were mapped using CytoViva imaging. The ability of MCLs to mimic tumor tissue characteristics makes them a useful tool in assessing the efficacy of particle distribution in solid tumors. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: In this report, graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets decorated with ultrafine Pd nanoparticles (Pd NPs) have been successfully fabricated through a reaction between [Pd2(μ-CO)2Cl4]2− and water in the presence of GO nanosheets without any surfactant or other reductant. The as-synthesized small Pd NPs with average diameter of about 4.4 nm were well-dispersed on the surface of GO nanosheets. The Pd/GO nanocomposites show remarkable catalytic activity toward the hydrogenation of p-nitrophenol at room temperature. The kinetic apparent rate constant (k app ) could reach about 34.3 × 10−3 s−1. Furthermore, the as-prepared Pd/GO nanocomposites could also be used as an efficient and stable catalyst for hydrogen production from hydrolytic dehydrogenation of ammonia borane (AB). Abstract: In this paper, we presented a simple and effective solution route to deposit Pt nanoparticles on electrospun In2O3 nanofibers for H2S gas detection. The morphology and chemical structure of the as-prepared samples were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and X-ray photoelectron spectra (XPS). The results showed that large quantities of In2O3 nanofibers with diameters about from 60 to 100nm were obtained and the surface of them was decorated with Pt nanoparticles (5–10nm in size). The In2O3 nanofibers decorated by Pt nanoparticles exhibited excellent gas sensing properties to H2S, such as high sensitivity, good selectivity and fast response at relatively low temperature. Abstract: In this paper, polyaniline (PANI) nanotubes with palladium nanoparticles (NPs) attached onto their inner walls were synthesized via a templating method which contains three steps. First, electrospun polystyrene (PS) nanofibers were coated with nearly monodispersed Pd NPs (d =3.411nm, σ =0.687nm, d is the average diameter of Pd NPs and σ is the standard deviation of their diameters) through in situ reduction of Pd2+ ions on the surface of sulfonated PS nanofibers. Then we used a self-assembly method to coat the composite with a PANI layer. The final product was obtained after the removal of PS nanofibers by diluting them in tetrahydrofuran. The morphology of samples was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy and the structure was characterized by Fourier transform infrared, ultraviolet–visible spectra, X-ray diffraction patterns and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopic patterns. Inductively coupled plasma atomic spectra were used to show the weight percentage of Pd nanoparticles. Its catalytic activity on the reduction of p-nitroanilinum was also investigated and compared to Pd/C catalyst and Pd/MWNTs. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: We described the synthesis of hybrid fibers composed of cadmium sulfide (CdS) nanoparticles and polystyrene (PS) by an in-situ reaction method. Scanning electron microscopic (SEM) studies showed that the hybrid samples have a fiber-like morphology. Transmission electron microscopic (TEM) studies showed that CdS nanoparticles were embedded in PS fibers with a diameter from 10 to 20 nm. Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR), UV–vis spectrum and X-ray photoelectron spectra (XPS) were used to characterize the structure of the composite fibers. X-ray diffraction (XRD) results showed that a hexagonal CdS phase was obtained in the PS fibers. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: We described the synthesis of hybrid nanocomposites composed of mercaptocarboxylic acid capped Au nanoparticles and polypyrrole (PPy) via introducing hydrogen bonding and/or electrostatic interaction by an in situ polymerization method. Scanning electron microscopic (SEM) studies showed that most of the hybrid samples were spherical. Transmission electron microscopic (TEM) studies showed that the morphology of the hybrid nanocomposites was affected by the molar ratio of Au to pyrrole. When the molar ratio of Au to pyrrole was high, more and more Au nanoparticles were absorbed onto the PPy microparticles. When the molar ratio was low, fewer Au nanoparticles were found on the surface of the PPy/Au hybrid nanocomposites. Abstract: Polyaniline (PANI) nanotubes containing Fe3O4 nanoparticles were synthesized under ultrasonic irradiation of the aqueous solutions of aniline, ammonium peroxydisulfate (APS), phosphoric acid (H3PO4), and the quantitative amount of Fe3O4. It was found that the obtained samples had the morphologies of nanotubes. TEM images and selected area electronic diffractions showed that Fe3O4 nanoparticles were embedded in PANI nanotubes. We thought that the mechanism of the formation of PANI/Fe3O4 nanotubes could be attributed to the ultrasonic irradiation and the H3PO4–aniline salt template. The molecular structure of PANI/Fe3O4 nanotubes were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), UV-vis absorption spectra and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The conductivity and magnetic properties of the PANI nanotubes containing Fe3O4 nanoparticles were also investigated. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Developing high‐performance, low‐cost, and robust bifunctional electrocatalysts for overall water splitting is extremely indispensable and challenging. It is a promising strategy to couple highly active precious metals with transition metals as efficient electrocatalysts, which can not only effectively reduce the cost of the preparation procedure, but also greatly improve the performance of catalysts through a synergistic effect. Herein, Ru and Ni nanoparticles embedded within nitrogen‐doped carbon nanofibers (RuNi‐NCNFs) are synthesized via a simple electrospinning technology with a subsequent carbonization process. The as‐formed RuNi‐NCNFs represent excellent Pt‐like electrocatalytic activity for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in both alkaline and acidic conditions. Furthermore, the RuNi‐NCNFs also exhibit an outstanding oxygen evolution reaction (OER) activity with an overpotential of 290 mV to achieve a current density of 10 mA cm−2 in alkaline electrolyte. Strikingly, owing to both the HER and OER performance, an electrolyzer with RuNi‐NCNFs as both the anode and cathode catalysts requires only a cell voltage of 1.564 V to drive a current density of 10 mA cm−2 in an alkaline medium, which is lower than the benchmark of Pt/C||RuO2 electrodes. Constructing high-activity electrocatalysts towards hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) is an essential way to achieve efficient, green and sustainable energy from water electrolysis. In this work, rhodium (Rh) nanoparticles anchored on cobalt (Co)/nitrogen (N)-doped carbon nanofibers (NCNFs) catalyst is prepared by the electrospinning-pyrolysis-reduction method. The synergy effect between Co-NCNFs and Rh nanoparticles contributes to the superior HER activity and favorable durability. The optimized 0.15Co-NCNFs-5Rh sample exhibits ultralow overpotentials of 13 and 18 mV to reach 10 mA cm−2 in an alkaline and acidic electrolyte, surpassing many Rh-based or Co-based electrocatalysts reported in the literature. Additionally, the Co-NCNFs-Rh sample shows a better HER activity than benchmark Pt/C catalyst in an alkaline medium at all current densities and in an acidic condition at higher current densities, offering its promising practical applications. Developing highly efficient and stable precious metal electrocatalysts toward hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) is crucial for energy application, while it is still challenging to achieve highly dispersed ultrafine metal nanoparticles on some promising supports to synergistically promote their electrocatalytic performance. Herein, we propose a feasible chelating adsorption-engaged strategy by introducing de-doped polyaniline with abundant amino groups to immobilize ultrafine iridium (Ir) nanoparticles on their derived N -doped carbon nanofibers (Ir-NCNFs). Experimental results demonstrate that the synthesized Ir-NCNFs can effectively promote the charge transfer and expose more electrochemical active sites, which eventually accelerate the reaction kinetics. Thus, the synthesized Ir-NCNFs catalyst exhibits admirable HER activities in both alkaline and acidic conditions with overpotentials of only 23 and 8 mV, which are even superior or close to the benchmark Pt/C catalyst. Furthermore, the synthesized Ir-NCNFs catalyst also exhibits a long-term durability. This study affords a reliable means to construct high-performance supported ultrafine metal nanocatalysts for electrocatalytic applications to alleviate the growing demand for energy conversion. Abstract Controllable fabrication of novel and uniform noble metal nanoparticles on a specific support with a superior catalytic or electrocatalytic performance is of significantly importance for practical applications. In this report, we demonstrated an effective way to fabricate uniform thin-walled Pd/polypyrrole (PPy) hollow nanotubes. The prepared Pd/PPy hybrid nanotubes exhibited an excellent peroxidase-like activity to oxidize a typical peroxidase substrate such as 3,3′,5,5′-tetramethylbenzidine in comparison with traditional Pd/C and Pd black catalysts. The outstanding catalytic activity of the Pd/PPy hybrid nanotubes for peroxidase mimicking could be resulting from their unique hollow characteristic and an interfacial effect between PPy and Pd components. Based on the favorable catalytic property of the Pd/PPy hybrid nanotubes, a convenient and rapid colorimetric way to sensitively determine ascorbic acid has been presented. The detection limit was around 0.062 μM and an excellent selectivity was also achieved. The developed detection system in this study could be extended to the fields of bioscience and biotechnology with promising prospects. The construction of highly active and durable electrocatalysts for hydrogen production from water electrolysis in a wide pH range is crucial for the sustainable development of clean energy. In this work, low-loading and ultrasmall Ir nanoparticles decorated on the surface of Ni/nitrogen-doped carbon nanofibers (NCNFs) are rationally constructed through a simple chemical reduction deposition route. Benefiting from the rich electrochemical active sites and excellent electrical conductivity, the obtained Ni-NCNFs-Ir catalyst exhibits superior hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) activities in both acidic and alkaline solutions. Specifically, the optimized 0.1Ni-NCNFs-5Ir catalyst with Ir content of 6.0 wt% exhibits remarkable low overpotentials of 22 and 25 mV at 10 mA cm−2 in 0.5 M H 2 SO 4 and 1 M KOH, respectively, which are better than many other reported Ir- or Ni-based electrocatalysts. In addition, the prepared 0.1Ni-NCNFs-5Ir catalyst shows favorable durability. Our theoretical results reveal that the relevant C- and Ir-sites jointly contribute to the high HER catalytic property of the Ni-NCNFs-Ir system, and two complicated electron transfer processes (Ni → C → N and Ir → C → N) are beneficial to promote the electrocatalytic performance.
