Following an overview of the approaches and techniques used to acheive super-resolution microscopy, this review presents the advantages supplied by nanoparticle based probes for these applications. The various clases of nanoparticles that have been developed toward these goals are then critically described and these discussions are illustrated with a variety of examples from the recent literature.

Utilization of biomolecules encapsulated nano particles is currently originating ample attention to generate unconventional nanomedicines in antiviral research. Zinc oxide nanoparticle has been extensively studied for antimicrobial, antifungal and antifouling properties due to high surface to volume ratios and distinctive chemical as well as physical properties. Nevertheless, still minute information is available on their response on viruses. Here, in situ nanostructured and polysaccharide encapsulated ZnO NPs are fabricated with having antiviral potency and low cytotoxicity (%viability ~ 90%) by simply controlling the formation within interspatial 3D networks of hydrogels through perfect locking mechanism. The two composites ChH@ZnO and ChB@ZnO shows exceedingly effective antiviral activity toward Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) having cell viability 93.6% and 92.4% up to 400 μg mL -1 concentration. This study brings significant insights regarding the role of ZnO NPs surface coatings on their nanotoxicity and antiviral action and could potentially guide to the development of better antiviral drug., (Copyright © 2021. Over the past decades, the synthesis of inorganic and organic nanocomposites has received much attention in the range of fields including electroanalysis of organic chemicals. In this regard, we have prepared copper oxide nanoparticle (CuO NPs) decorated graphene/β-cyclodextrin (GR-β-CD) composites using a simple electrochemical methodology, where the CuO NPs are electrodeposited on GR-β-CD composite modified electrodes. A stable GR-β-CD composite was prepared by sonication of GR in β-CD aqueous solution. As-prepared GR-β-CD/CuO NPs composites were characterized by the high-resolution scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and Raman spectroscopy. Cyclic voltammetry results reveal that the GR-β-CD/CuO NPs composite modified electrode exhibits an excellent catalytic activity and lower reduction potential towards the electrochemical detection of metronidazole (MTZ) over other modified electrodes including GR, GR-β-CD, and CuO NPs. Under optimized conditions, amperometry was used for the determination of MTZ using GR-β-CD/CuO NPs composite modified electrodes. The response of MTZ using the composite electrodes was linear over the range from 0.002 to 210.0 µM. This sensor showed the lowest limit of detection of 0.6 nM and was much lower than the previously reported MTZ sensors. With recent advances in the field of diagnostics and theranostics, liposomal technology has secured a fortified position as a potential nanocarrier. Specifically, radiation/photo-sensitive liposomes containing photo-polymerizable cross-linking lipids are intriguing as they can impart the vesicles with highly interesting properties such as response to stimulus and improved shell stability. In this work, 1,2-bis(10,12-tricosadiynoyl)-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine (DTPE) is used as a photo-polymerizable lipid to form functional hybrid-liposomes as it can form intermolecular cross-linking through the diacetylenic groups. Hybrid-liposomes were formulated using mixtures of DTPE and saturated lipids of different chain lengths (dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine (DPPC) and dimirystoilphosphatidylcholine (DMPC)) at different molar ratios. The physico-chemical characteristics of the liposomes has been studied before and after UV irradiation using a combination of techniques: DSC, QCM-D and solid-state NMR. The results signify the importance of a subtle modification in alkyl chain length on the phase behavior of the hybrid-liposomes and on the degree of crosslinking in the shell.

Functional nanocarriers were synthesized using an in situ inverse miniemulsion polymerization employing thiol-isocyanate reactions at the droplet interface to encapsulate hydrophilic payloads. The morphology of the nanocarriers is conveniently tunable by varying the reaction conditions and the dispersions are easily transferable to the aqueous phase.
