A new semi-empirical formula for the calculation of the (n,p) cross section at 14.5 MeV neutron energy is proposed. Derived from the evaporation statistical model, the formula includes five parameters and shows a strong dependence of the (n,p) cross section on terms of the parameters (N-Z+1)/A, (2Z-1)/A and √A . Fitting this formula to the existing cross section data on 159 nuclei (between A=40 and 209), the adjustable parameters were determined and the systematics of the (n,p) reaction were studied. The predictions of this formula are compared with those of the existing formulae and with the experimental data. The formula with five parameters is found to give a better fit to the data than the previous comparable formulae.

TENMAK D.N.. 10328 In this work, the control rod reactivity worth of the swimming- pool type reactor (TR-I) in ÇNAEM, Çekmece Nuclear Research and Training Centre has been measured digitally and the mean neutron lifetime has been estimated by a special miniature fission chamber with 60 nanosecond resolving time. The time behaviour of thermal neutrons is also compared with reactor control console results. Das Zeitverhalten thermischer Neutronen wird mit Meßergebnissen am Reaktorkontrollpult verglichen.

TENMAK D.N.. 7878 Nötron akışı düşük üreteçlerin ekonomik bir şekilde kullanılmasını sağlayan "Tek Işınlama-Tek Sayım" yöntemiyle, analizi istenen malzeme içindeki bir cok elementin aynı sipekturum içinde belirlenebilmesi, "Aktivasyon Matris Formalizmiyle" mümkündür. Bu çalışmada, özellikle reaktör nötronlarıyla belirlenmesi zor olan elementlerden, Tarım bilimlerinde önemi olan Na, Mg, Al, Si, P, K, gurubunun aktivasyon matris elementlerine gerekli (n,p), (n,α), (n,2n) hızlı nötron tepkileşim kesitleri ölçülmüş ve bu tekniğin bir uygulaması olarak da yerel bir örneğin cok-element analizi gerçekeştirilmiştir. Economical use of a Neutron Generator with low neutron output can be achieved by employing "Single Irradiation-Single Counting" technique. Effective and accurate multi-element analysis utilizing this technique may only be possible by means of the "Activation Matrix Formalism". In this work, (n,p), (n,α), (n,2n) neutron activation cross-sections needed to build the activation matrix for the elements Na,Mg,Al,Si,P,K were measured and applying the technique developed, a local sample was analyzed.

TENMAK D.N.. 7954 Bir nötron üretecinin(Sames TB 8) mutlak 14 MeV-nötron çıkışı ortak tanecik sayma yöntemiyle saptanmıştır. 3H(d,n)4He reaksiyonunda nötronlarla birlikte ortaya çıkan alfa tanecikleri küçük ve dayanıklı bir yüzey engelli dedektörle sayılmıştır. Bu dedektörün etkin yüzeyi üzerindeki ince alüminyum kaplama sayesinde, sadece alfaları diğer reaksiyon ürünlerinden ayırmak kolaylaşmamış, 100 keV den düşük dötoron enerjilerinde düşük enerjili tanecikleri (triton, 3He-tanecikleri gibi.,) de background ve gürültüden ayırarak saymak mümkün olmuştur. Böylece, 14 MeV-nötron çıkışının duyarlı bir şekilde mutlak saptanması yanısıra, döteryum birikmesi nedeniyle oluşan trityum hedef kirlenmesi de izlenmiştir. Karşılaştırmak amaciyle, nötron üretecinin 14 MeV-nötron çıkışı, standart madde olarak teflon ve nikel kullanılarak foil aktivasyonu yöntemi uygulanarak ta bulunmuştur. Her iki yöntemle bulunan sonuçlar deneysel belirsizlik sınırları içinde uyuşmaktadırlar. The absolute 14 MeV neutron output of a neutron generator (Sames TB8) was determined by using the associated particle method. The alpha particles associated with neutrons from the 3H(d, n)4He reaction were counted by a small ruggedized surface barrier detector(RSBD). A thin Al-coating on the active surface of this detector provided excellent discrimination not only against the associated alphas from the other competing reaction products, but, also the low energy particles (tritons, 3He- particles) from the background or noise at low deutoron energies (

TENMAK D.N.. 7807 159Tb'un toplara nötron tesir kesitleri, 0.062 eV'dan 1 eV'a kadar olan enerji aralığında Be(1011) kristal düzlemi monokromatör olarak kullanılarak bir kristal spektrometresinde ölçülmüştür. Deney sonucunda, tek seviyeli Breit-Wigner formülüne en küçük kareler metodu uygulanarak bahis konusu enerji aralığında aşağıdaki rezonans parametreleri tayin edilmiştir; δp = 7,96 ± 1.33 b , A = 5.50 ± 0,86 b X (eV)1/2 . The total neutron cross section of 159Tb has been measured in the energy range from 0.062 to 1 eV with a crystal spectrometer using the Be(1011) crystal planes as a monochromator. The data in the left wing of the first neutron resonance in 159Tb were fitted directly to the one-level Breit-Wigner formula using the method of least squares. The parameters obtained from the analysis are δp = 7.96 ± 1.33 b and A = 5.50 + 0.86 b X (eV) 1/2 .

TENMAK D.N.. 7749 ÇBAEM’de yazılmış olan IBD kodu iki boyutlu çok gruplu nötron difüzyon denklemlerini çözmekte kullanılmaktadır. Programdaki iç ve dış iterasyonları Liebman ve Chebyshev metodları hızlandırmaktadır. Programın iç iterasyonunun yakınsamasını geliştirmek üzere "ardışık blok overrelaksasyon" metodundan faydalanılmıştır. Bu metodun en basiti, bir satır ardışık overrelaksasyon IBD koduna tatbik edilmiştir.

TENMAK D.N.. 7820 A 37-cc lithium-drifted germanium defector has been used in conjunction with the ÇNAEM neutron crystal sectrometer to examine the gamma-ray spectrum arising from neutron resonance capture in 149Sm. The effective Gamma-ray energy resolution of 0.6-2.4 keV allowed 17 transitions to be examined in the energy range between 109 and 1806 keV following the capture of 0.0976 eV resonance neutrons in 149Sm. The spectrum is intepreted in terms of the levels In the compound nucleus, 150Sm. An analysis of the reduced intensities of 38 El transitions which consist of 9 secondary, and 29 primary transitions indicates that they have a cumulative Porter-Thomas distribution. A similar, analysis has been applied to 15 M1 transitions which consist of 4 secondary and 11 primary, transitions.

TR--2 Reaktör kalbinde, malzeme analizi ve radyoizotop üretimine yönelik çalışmalarda kullanılan ışınlama tüpleri içindeki nötron akı yoğunluk dağılımı nötron aktivasyon yöntemiyle ölçülmüştür. Bu amaçla ışınlanmış Al,Fe,Ni,Zr ve In foillerin gama aktivitesi verim kalibrasyonu yapılmış bir HPGe Sayım Sisteminde ölçülmüş ve 27AI (n,α) , 54Fe(n,p), 58Ni(n,p) ve 90Zr(n,2n) uyarım fonksiyonlarından yararlanılarak Hızlı Nötronların Enerji dağılımı empirik olarak belirlenmiştir. Deneysel değerlere yapılan uyum sonucunda empirik bir akı yoğunluğu bağıntısı elde edilmiştir. 1 MW güç için D-45 ışınlama elemanı içinde ̴ 4 x 10(12) n/s.cm2.MeV lik bir değer bulunmuştur. Neutron flux density inside the irradiation element, which is used for material analysis and radio-isotope production, was measured the by neutron activation method. Al,Fe,Ni,Zr and In foils were irradiated and a HPGe detector system was employed to determine the induced activities. The energy distribution of fast neutrons was determined empirically by utilizing 27Al(n,α), 54Fe(n,p), 58Ni(n,p) and 90Zr(n,2n) excitation functions and fitting the experimentel values measured in the course of this work to an empirical formula. The neuton flux for 1 MW power was found to be ̴ 4 x 10(12) n/s.cm2.MeV.

TENMAK D.N..7882 14.5 MeV enerjili nötronların uyardığı (n, p) tepkileşimleriy le, Atom Numarası 8 - 82 arasındaki elementlerin, ÇNAEM Fizik laboratuvarı deney koşullarında, belirlenebilme sınırları hesaplanmıştır. The detection limits of elements { 8 ≤ Z ≤ 82 ) by means of 14.5 MeV neutron induced (n, p) reactions, under the experimental condition of ÇNAEM Physics laboratory, have been calculated.

TENMAK D.N.. 8054 ÇNAEM Fizik Bölümünde oluşturulan Hızlı Nötron Fiziği Laboratuvarının temel cihazı olan SAMES T-400 alçak enerjili iyon hızlandırıcısının geniş bir tanıtımı yapılmıştır. Sistemim güvenli olarak çalışmasını sağlamak için sonradan tasarlanarak sisteme eklenen destek üniteleri ve örnek ışınlamak için yapıları pnömatik transfer sistemi açıklanmıştır. Ayrıca, sistemin döteron huzmesinin hedef üzerindeki yeri tespit edilmiş, d-d tepkileşiminden elde edilen nötronların, akışı ve açısal dağılımı tayin edilmiştir. The Fast Neutron Physics Laboratory, which was recently set up in ÇNAEM Physics Department, is introduced. The Fast Neutron Irradiation System, based on a low energy ion accelerator (SAMES T-400), is described in detail. Additional support units designed for reliable and safe operation of the system and a pneumatic sample transfer system are also described. In addition, the position of the deuteron beam spot on the target, the neutron flux and the angular distribution of neutrons from the 2H(d, n)4He reaction, were determined.

TENMAK D.N.. 7884 Çok kalın (1.237 mm) bir indium numune 115In'in birinci nötron rezonansı bölgesindeki monokromatik nötron larla aktlve edilmiştir. Aktlvltenin enerjiye göre değişim eğrisi çizilmiş ve yarı genişliği 0.2750 eV olarak bulunmuştur. Deney 1.2729 - 1.6170 eV enerji aralığında yapılmıştır "Çok kalın" numunenin beta ışınlarına karşı gösterdiği self-absorpsiyonun aktivasyon eğrisi üzerine yaptığı etki incelenmiş ve bu yolla beta self-absorpsiyon katsayısı 19.3 ± 3.9 cm2/gr olarak bulunmuştur.

TENMAK D.N.. 7937 ÇNAEM Fizik Bölümünün SAMES T-400 alçak enerjili iyon hızlandırıcısıyla 3H(d, n) 4He tepkileşimi sonucu üretilen nötronların ışınlama bölgesindeki ortalama enerjileri, 90Zr(n, 2n)/93Nb(n, 2n) tepkileşim kesitlerinin oranlanması yöntemiyle ölçüldü. Ek olarak, hızlandırılan döteron huzmesinin atomik ve moleküler bileşenlerden oluşmasını, döteronların Titanyum-Trityum hedef içindeki yavaşlamalarını, döteron huzme kesitini ve ışınlanan örnek boyutlarını içeren basit bir modelle, ortalama nötron enerjisi ve bu enerjideki yayılma hesaplandı. Ölçüm ve hesaplama sonuçlarının tutarlı oldukları görüldü. The method of 90Zr (n , 2n)/93Nb (n ,2n ) cross-section ratio was utilized and the average energy of neutrons -from 3H(d,n) 4He reactions was measured at the sample irradiation position of the ÇNAEM Physics Department SAMES T-400 low-energy ion accelerator. Additionaly, a simple model was utilized and the avarage neutron energy and its spread were calculated. In this model, atomic and molecular composition of the deuteron beam, energy loss of the deuterons in the target material, the deuteron beam size and the irradiated sample geometry were taken into consideration. A good agreement with the measurement was obtained.

TENMAK D.N.. 7897 Atom numarası 15 ile 90 arasındaki çekirdeklerin yaklaşık 14.5 MeV enerjili nötronlarla (n,2n) tepkileşimleri ile ilgili nükleer veriler toplanmış sınıflandırılmış ve değerlendirilmiştir. Deneysel (n,2n) tepkileşim kesitleri değerlerine yapılan uyum sonucunda ampirik bir bağıntı bulunmuş ve bu bağıntı kullanılarak elementlerin ölçülmemiş tepkileşim kesitleri hesaplanmıştır. Derlenen nükleer veriler ve tepkileşim kesitleri kullanılarak elementlerin izafi belirlenme sınırları tesbit edilmiştir. The neutron induced (n,2n) reactions have been investigated for the interval of 15 S Z i 90 at 14.5 MeV energy which can be produced by SAMES T-400 low energy ion accelerator in the Department of Physics at ÇNAEM. Also it has been found an empirical formula by fitting available experimental (n,2n) reaction cross sections which measured from different laboratories and unmeasured (n,2n) cross section have been calculated by using empirical formula.In addition the relative detection limits of the elements have been calculated.

TENMAK D.N.. 10288 In order to make experimental research in the field of low energy nuclear physics, a crystal neutron spectrometer is constructed in ÇNAEM. The energy range is between 0,025 - 6 eV. The available monochromator single crystals are Be, NaCl, (CaCO3), Pb. The minimum precise rotation of spectrometer is 1 minute of arc in Bragg angle. Two Soller type collimators, one from reactor to crystal and the other from sample to counter, are used. The net angular divergence is approximately 5 minutes of arc. Counting system consists of two channels, one of which is used for monitoring the reactor. Counter tubes are B10 enriched BF3 proportional counters. The main problem in construction was, to design and give precise movement to the heavy crystal shielding.

TENMAK D.N.. 10292 The Thermal Neutron Spectrum of Çekmece TR-1 was measured by using a double drystal spectrometer and NaCf crystal with its (200) plane as monochromator. The neutron energy which corresponds to the maximum of thermal flux distribution was found to be E(0) = 0,0595 ev. Assuming that the flux distribution to be Maxwellian an attempt was made to analyze the measured data to evaluate the effective neutron temperature in the beam hole. Because the theoretical expressions given in the latest publications are found to be unsatisfactory in representing neutron reflectivity for slow neutrons, an experiment was carried out to determine the reflectivity in dependence of neutron energy, the results of the experiment showed that the reflectivity in proportional to E-0,45. By using this empirical relation the effective neutron temperature was found to be ≈ 337°K.

TENMAK D.N.. 10301 Bu makalede Nordheim denklemi, sâdece çoğaltkan bir ortamın ılık nötronlarının difüzyon denklemine dayanılarak çıkartılmaktadır. Bu, farklı m grup gecikmiş nötronun ortamın nötron bilançosuna iştiraklerini uygun bir tarzda ifâde eden bir kaynak teriminin difüzyon denklemine ilâvesiyle gerçekleştirilmiştir. Nordheim denklemini elde etmek için tek bir diferansiyel denklemin göz önüne alınmış olması, şimdiye kadar tatbik edilmekte olan ve ılık nötronların difüzyon denkleminden ve aynı zamanda gecikmiş nötron neşreden fisyon ürünü ana çekirdeklerin yoğunluklarını veren m adet küple denklemden faydalanma esâsına dayanan metoda nisbetle âşikâr olarak mühim bir sâdelik arzetmektedir. Dans cet article l’équation de Nordheim est déduite en se basant uniquement sur l'équation de diffusion des neutrons thermiques d'un milieu multiplicateur. Ceci est réalisé en ajoutant à l'équation de diffusion un terme de source qui exprime convenablement la contribution de m groupes différents de neutrons retardés au bilan neutronique du milieu. La considération d'une seule équation différentielle pour obtenir l'équation de Nordheim constitue évidenment une simplicité importante par rapport à la méthode appliquée jusqu'à présent qui consiste à se servir simultanément de l'équation de diffusion des neutrons thermiques et de m équations couplées donnant les densités des noyaux-mères, produits de fission, émettant les neutrons retardés.

TENMAK D.N.. 7831 The time behavior of a neutron pulse in a fast subcritical assembly is modeled by approximating the spatial dependence by a single diffusion mode and using a simple model of inelastic scattering. This model allows an explicit calculation of the time response of a detector in such a system. Of particular interest is a study of the detector response in those situations in which the flux does not decay in an exponential fashion.

TENMAK D.N.. 10304 Starting from the general transport equation and within the limits of P1 approximation, a set of coupled second order partial integro-differential equations is obtained. These equations consider the effect of m groups of retarded neutrons and contain both the first and the second derivatives of the neutron fluxes with respect to the time variable.

TENMAK D.N.. 8090 The time decay constants characterizing the time behavior of a neutron pulse in a subcritical fast assembly are investigated by analyzing the time- eigenvalue spectrum of the transport operator for fast neutrons. To simplify this analysis, isotropic scattering was assumed, and a simple model of inelastic scattering was employed. By applying the techniques of functional analysis familiar from the study of the time-eigenvalue problem for thermal neutrons, it has been possible to classify the spectrum of the transport operator into the usual band spectrum for Re{s} ≤- λ*, where λ* is the minimum collision frequency, and a point spectrum in the region Re{s} > - λ* . It was demonstrated that this point spectrum was void for either sufficiently small assembly sizes or sufficiently small concentrations of fissile material.

TENMAK D.N.. 8115 The total neutron cross section of natural samarium has been measured in the energy range from 0,06 to 1 eV with a crystal spectrometer using the Be(1011) and Be(1231) crystal planes as monochromators.In this region two resonances due to 149Sm are present. After correction for second order contamination caused by the monochromator, Doppler corrections have been applied to both resonances. Corrections for spectrometer resolution were needed only for the second resonance. Both resonances were fitted separately to the Breit-Wigner single-level formula by the method of least squares. The analysis gives the parameters of the resonances as follows: E(o) = 0.0973±0.0012 eV, Q(o) - 18348±376 b, r = 0.0635±0.0013 eV,r(n) = (0.0773±0.0025)x10(-3) eV for the first and E(o) = 0.872±0.012 eV, Q(o) = 2948±68 b, r =0.0635±0.0015 eV, r(n) = (0.1114±0.0041)x10 (-3) eV for the second. The statistical weight factor g is taken to be 9/16 for both levels.
