Topics include the Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS), bats as possible carriers of the coronavirus that causes MERS, the discovery of bats as the source of the 2003 severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) pandemic, and examples of viruses carried by bats, such as the Hendra, Nipah, and Ebola viruses.
