The transport of an underdamped particle driven by an external force in a periodic asymmetric potential with color noises is investigated. The corresponding mathematical model is established. By the method of the numerical simulation, we present the movement of the steady current of underdamped particles. Different parameters have different influences on current transport, such as increasing or decreasing. It is shown that the cooperations among the external force and the noises parameter lead to the phenomena: when the external force is not zero, the large external force may cause the large current value or the absolute value of the current. We study a noisy drive mechanism for efficiency enhancement of Brownian motors operating on the microscale domain. It was proven [J. Spiechowicz et al., J. Stat. Mech. (2013) P02044] that biased noise η(t) can induce normal and anomalous transport processes similar to those generated by a static force F acting on inertial Brownian particles in a reflection-symmetric periodic structure in the presence of symmetric unbiased time-periodic driving. Here, we show that within selected parameter regimes, noise η(t) of the mean value 〈η(t)〉=F can be significantly more effective than the deterministic force F: the motor can move much faster, its velocity fluctuations are much smaller, and the motor efficiency increases several times. These features hold true in both normal and absolute negative mobility regimes. We demonstrate this with detailed simulations by resource to generalized white Poissonian noise. Our theoretical results can be tested and corroborated experimentally by use of a setup that consists of a resistively and capacitively shunted Josephson junction. An anomalous transport phenomenon termed absolute negative mobility (ANM) was observed in a vibrational motor, where an additional time-periodic signal filled the role usually played by noise in a Brownian motor. Within a tailored parameter regime, the ANM behavior is maximized at two regimes upon variation of the bias. We study the transport properties for a walker on a ratchet potential. The walker consists of two particles coupled by a bistable potential that allow the interchange of the order of the particles while moving through a one-dimensional asymmetric periodic ratchet potential. We consider the stochastic dynamics of the walker on a ratchet with an external periodic forcing, in the overdamped case. The coupling of the two particles corresponds to a single effective particle, describing the internal degree of freedom, in a bistable potential. This double-well potential is subjected to both a periodic forcing and noise and therefore is able to provide a realization of the phenomenon of stochastic resonance. The main result is that there is an optimal amount of noise where the amplitude of the periodic response of the system is maximum, a signal of stochastic resonance, and that precisely for this optimal noise, the average velocity of the walker is maximal, implying a strong link between stochastic resonance and the ratchet effect. In a previous work, we described transport in a classical, externally driven, overdamped ratchet. A transport current arises under two possible conditions: either by increasing the external driving or by adding an optimal amount of noise when the system operates below threshold. In this work, we study the underdamped case. In order to obtain transport it is necessary for the presence of both — a damping mechanism and the lack of symmetries in the potential. Some interesting properties were found: under particular conditions the system could be considered as a mass separation device, and for a specific range of the control parameter, the maximum Lyapunov exponent is reduced when noise is added to the system. We study the noise induced transport of an overdamped Brownian particle in frictional ratchet systems in the presence of a special class of external multiplicative Gaussian white noise fluctuations. The analytical expressions for current and diffusion coefficient are derived and the reliability or coherence of transport are discussed by means of their ratio. Abstract: We study the coherence of transport of an overdamped Brownian particle in frictional ratchet system in the presence of external Gaussian white noise fluctuations. The analytical expressions for the particle velocity and diffusion coefficient are derived for this system and the reliability or coherence of transport is analysed by means of their ratio in terms of a dimensionless Péclet number. Abstract: We analyze a model for a walker moving on a ratchet potential. This model is motivated by the properties of transport of motor proteins, like kinesin and myosin. The walker consists of two feet that are represented as two particles coupled nonlinearly through a bistable potential. In contrast to linear coupling, the bistable potential admits a richer dynamics, where the ordering of the particles can alternate during the walking. The transitions between the two stable states on the bistable potential correspond to a walking with alternating particles. We distinguish between two main walking styles: alternating and no alternating, resembling the hand-over-hand and the inchworm walking in motor proteins, respectively. When the equilibrium distance between the two particles divided by the periodicity of the ratchet is an integer, we obtain a maximum for the current, indicating optimal transport. Abstract: Recent studies on Brownian motors driven by colored non-Gaussian noises have shown that the departure of the noise distribution from Gaussian behavior induces an enhancement of its current and efficiency. Here, we discuss some new aspects of this phenomenon focusing on some analytical results based on an adiabatic approximation and in the analysis of the role of long probability distribution tails. A system of periodically coupled nonlinear phase oscillators—submitted to both additive and multiplicative white noises—has been recently shown to exhibit ratchetlike transport, negative zero-bias conductance, and anomalous hysteresis. These features stem from the asymmetry of the stationary probability distribution function, arising through a noise-induced non-equilibrium phase transition which is re-entrant as a function of the multiplicative noise intensity. Using an explicit mean-field approximation we analyse the effect of the multiplicative noises being coloured, finding a contraction of the ordered phase (and a re-entrance as a function of the coupling) on one hand, and a shift of the transition from anomalous to normal hysteresis inside this phase on the other. We analyze a model for a walker moving on an asymmetric periodic ratchet potential. This model is motivated by the properties of transport of the motor protein kinesin. The walker consists of two feet represented as two particles coupled nonlinearly through a double-well bistable potential. In contrast to linear coupling, the bistable potential admits a richer dynamics where the ordering of the particles can alternate during the walking. The transitions between the two stable points on the bistable potential, correspond to a walking with alternating particles. In our model, each particle is acted upon by independent white noises, modeling thermal noise, and additionally we have an external time-dependent force that drives the system out of equilibrium, allowing directed transport. In the equilibrium case, where only white noise is present, we perform a bifurcation analysis which reveals different walking patterns. In particular, we distinguish between two main walking styles: alternating and no alternating. These two ways of walking resemble the hand-over-hand and the inchworm walking in kinesin, respectively. Numerical simulations showed the existence of current reversals and significant changes in the effective diffusion constant. We obtained an optimal coherent transport, characterized by a maximum dimensionless ratio of the current and the effective diffusion (Péclet number), when the periodicity of the ratchet potential coincides with the equilibrium distance between the two particles.
