Abstract

International audience; We have developed a new experimental setup based at the GANIL/SPIRAL facility in Caen, France to measure one-nucleon transfer reactions in inverse kinematics in order to study the evolution of the single particle structure of exotic nuclei. The setup couples together three state-of-the-art detection systems: the TIARA Si array, the large-acceptance magnetic spectrometer VAMOS and the high-efficiency segmented Ge gamma-ray array EXOGAM. In a first experiment, the $^{24}$Ne(d,p)$^{25}$Ne reaction has been studied to probe the N=16 shell closure. Details of the setup, data analysis and preliminary results are presented.

Abstract

The TIARA+VAMOS+EXOGAM set-up has recently been installed at GANIL to study the single-particle structure of exotic nuclei. The unique characteristics of the TIARA array, combined with the large acceptance spectrometer VAMOS and the high efficiency Germanium detector array EXOGAM, has allowed high-resolution measurements of transfer reactions in inverse kinematics using low intensity exotic beams. We will describe the experimental set-up, data analysis and preliminary results of the first experiments using a $^{24}$Ne beam from SPIRAL, concentrating in particular on the performance of VAMOS that has been used to detect the heavy fragments after the (d,p), (d,d) and (d,t) reactions.

Abstract

International audience; The reaction 11Be(p,d)10Be has been studied for the first time, using a secondary 11Be beam of 35.3 MeV/nucleon. Angular distributions up to about 15cmo were measured by detecting 10Be in a spectrometer and coincident deuterons in a position sensitive silicon detector array. Preliminary analysis provides evidence for a large core excitation component in the structure of 11BeGS.

Abstract

In this contribution an experimental study of the deep-inelastic reaction 9640Zr+12450 Sn at 530 MeV, using the GASP and PRISMA-CLARA arrays, is presented. The experiments populate a wealth of projectile-like and target-like binary fragments, in a large neutron-rich region around N ≥ 50 and Z ≈ 40. Preliminary results on the study of the yrast and near-yrast states for 95Nb will be shown, along with a comparison of the experimental yields obtained in the experiments. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Two experimental setups have been used to study excited states of neutron-rich nuclei in the A∼100 region. Extended level schemes and lifetime measurements were obtained using deep-inelastic and fusion-fission reactions with the CLARA-PRISMA spectrometer and the Ge-array GASP respectively. Experimental information from GASP has been used to complement the CLARA-PRISMA experiment. Time spectra have been used to measure the lifetimes of isomeric states. High-spin states of the 44Sc nucleus, populated in the 68 MeV 18O + 30Si reaction, have been studied in a γ-γ-recoil coincidence experiment. The detailed decay pattern, with various paths and cross-transitions, has been extended up to 9.1 MeV. High-quality DCO and polarization information assign spins and parities for the majority of the observed levels. Abstract

The gamma-decay of fragments from deep-inelastic and multi-nucleon transfer processes which occur when a beam of 26Mg at 160MeV is incident on a thin 150Nd target was studied using the EUROBALL IV array of escape suppressed Ge detectors at Strasbourg. The good resolving power of EUROBALL IV was further increased by combining it with the Binary Reaction Spectrometer (BRS), used for the detection of projectile-like fragments. The BRS allows full kinematic reconstruction of the binary reaction allowing crucial Doppler corrections of gamma-ray spectra to be performed. Abstract

Intruder rotational bands in 45Sc and 45Ti have been investigated up to the maximum aligned angular momentum by means of EUROBALL IV and the Recoil Filter Detector (RED). The use of the RED allowed for a reduction of the γ-line Doppler broadening and, moreover, for a determination of very short level lifetimes. In the studied nuclei, the estimated deformation shows a gradual disappearance of the collectivity at the highest available spins. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
