Myrrophis (Enhydris) chinensis, also known as the Chinese water snake, has been used for medicinal purposes, such as the treatment of ailments involving fever, headache, and joint pain. The complete mitochondrial genome of M. chinensis was assembled using next-generation sequencing. The mitochondrial genome was 17,302 bp in length and contained 37 genes, including 13 protein-coding, 22 transfer RNA (tRNA), 2 ribosomal RNA genes, and 2 non-coding control regions (D-loop). The light chain of replication origin was found between tRNA-Asn and tRNA-Cys in the WANCY gene cluster, which is consistent with published mitogenomes of Homalopsidae. The phylogenetic tree supported the monophyly of Homalopsidae species and implied that M. chinensis is the closest related species to Myanophis thanlyinensis. The Gekkonidae is the second-most-numerous Family in Sauria and widely distributed around the world. In this paper, the complete mitochondrial genomes of two gecko species,Gekko hokouensisandGekko japonicas, were sequenced. The lengths of the two mitochondrial genomes (G. hokouensisandG. japonicus) are 17 956 bp and 17 769 bp, respectively. These mitochondrial genomes both contain 13 protein-coding genes, two ribosomal RNA genes, 22 transfer RNA genes and a non-coding region (control region). The overall base compositions of the H-strand ofG. hokouensisandG. japonicusare 32.1% A, 26.7% T, 27.0% C, 14.2% G and 31.6% A, 25.2% T, 28.6% C, 14.7% G, respectively. Phylogenetic analysis showed thatG. hokouensisis a sister clade withG. swinhonis.G. japonicushas a close phylogenetic relationship to the clade ofG. hokouensisandG. swinhonis. The complete mitochondrial genomes of the yellow-bellied slider (Trachemys scripta scripta) and anoxia tolerant red-eared slider (Trachemys scripta elegans) turtles were sequenced to analyze gene arrangement. The complete mt genomes ofT. s. scriptaandeleganswere circular molecules of 16,791 bp and 16,810 bp in length, respectively, and included an A + 1 frameshift insertion in ND3 and ND4L genes. The AT content of the overall base composition ofscriptaandeleganswas 61.2%. Nucleotide sequence divergence of the mt-genome (p distance) betweenscriptaandeleganswas 0.4%. The complete mitochondrial genome sequence of theHyla annectans(Anura: Hylidae) was determined in this study. It is a circular molecule of 17,973 bp in length including 37 genes for 13 protein-coding genes, 2 ribosomal RNAs, 22 transfer RNAs and a control region, showing a typical neobatrachian-type arrangement. The A + T content of H-strand and the control region is 60.7% and 64.6%, respectively. The control region is 2554 bp in length and possesses distinct repeat regions at both 5′ and 3′ ends.
