BackgroundResearch suggests a potential connection between cardiovascular health, obesity, and overactive bladder (OAB). However, the mechanisms by which obesity influences the relationship between cardiovascular health and OAB remain unclear. Life’s Crucial 9 (LC9) is a recently proposed method for assessing cardiovascular health, while the weight-adjusted waist index (WWI) is a novel and more accurate measure of obesity. This study investigates the relationship between LC9 and OAB and assesses whether WWI moderates this relationship.MethodsData for this study came from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). We used subgroup analyses, restricted cubic spline curves (RCS), and multivariate logistic regression to explore the relationship between LC9 and OAB. Additionally, mediation analysis was conducted to investigate the potential association between WWI levels and the relationship between LC9 and OAB.ResultsA total of 25,319 participants were included in this study, among which 5,038 reported incidents of OAB. After adjusting for all variables using multivariable logistic regression, an increase of 10 units in LC9 was associated with a 28% reduction in the incidence of OAB (OR = 0.72, 95% CI: 0.69, 0.76), while an increase of one unit in WWI was associated with a 40% increase in the incidence of OAB (OR = 1.40, 95% CI: 1.29, 1.51). BackgroundWhile prior research has established a correlation between dietary choline intake and bone density in the elderly, the relationship in adolescents remains ambiguous. This study seeks to examine the association between dietary choline intake and bone density in American adolescents.MethodsData from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) for 2005 to 2018 were used in this study, encompassing participants aged 12–19 years. The relationship between dietary choline intake and bone density was assessed using multivariate linear regression models and restricted cubic spline (RCS) models. Subgroup analyses were also performed to investigate differences across various subgroups.Results3,800 participants with an average age of 15 years were included in this study. After adjusting for relevant confounding factors, a positive correlation was observed between dietary choline intake and total bone density in adolescents (95% CI: 0.03–0.17, p = 0.010). BackgroundThe relationship between CDAI and suicidal ideation is unclear. This study investigates the relationship between CDAI and suicidal ideation and examines the association between CDAI and all-cause mortality (ACM) or cardiovascular disease mortality (CVM) among participants with and without suicidal ideation.MethodsData from seven NHANES cycles (2005–2018) were analyzed using cross-sectional and prospective cohort studies. Weighted multivariable logistic regression models, restricted cubic spline (RCS) plots, and subgroup analyses explored the association between CDAI and suicidal ideation. Kaplan–Meier (KM) curves, weighted multivariable Cox proportional hazards models, and RCS assessed the relationship between CDAI and CVM or ACM.ResultsAmong 30,976 participants aged over 20, 1,154 (3.72%) had suicidal ideation. Higher CDAI levels (Quartile 4) were associated with a 28% reduction in suicidal ideation compared to lower levels (Quartile 1). Over an average follow-up of 89 months, 3,267 participants (7.6%) died, including 808 (1.8%) from cardiovascular causes. Higher CDAI levels were linked to a 30, 68, and 28% reduction in ACM in the total population, those with suicidal ideation, and those without, respectively. CVM was reduced by 40% in the total population and by 41% in those without suicidal ideation.ConclusionCDAI is negatively associated with suicidal ideation and correlated with reduced ACM and CVM among participants with and without suicidal ideation.

BackgroundNumerous studies have indicated a potential correlation between COPD, lipid metabolism, and dietary inflammation. However, the exact mechanisms by which dietary inflammation regulates the pathological processes of COPD related to lipid metabolism remain unclear. NHHR is a novel composite index of atherosclerotic lipid profiles, while the Dietary Inflammatory Index (DII) measures diet-induced inflammation. This study explores the relationship between NHHR and COPD and evaluates whether DII mediates this association.MethodsWe employed multivariable logistic regression, smooth curve fitting, threshold effect analysis, and subgroup analysis to explore the relationship between NHHR and the incidence of COPD. Additionally, we conducted a mediation analysis to explore the potential relationship between dietary inflammatory index (DII) levels and the relationship between NHHR and COPD.ResultsThis analysis encompassed 13,452 participants, with 2,332 reporting incidents of COPD. Following adjustment for all covariates using multivariable logistic regression, each unit increase in NHHR level and DII level was associated with a 10% (OR = 1.10, 95% CI: 1.05, 1.16) and 8% (OR = 1.08, 95% CI: 1.04, 1.13) increase, respectively, in the incidence rate of COPD.
