Eliška Rotbartová Title: The Independency Training in Person with Multiple Sclerosis in Home Environment Abstract: This theoretical and practical bachelor thesis deals with the possibilities of occupational therapy for increasing or maintaining self-sufficiency in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) with higher degree of neurological disability (i.e., patients with EDSS>7). The MS disease, issues of self-sufficiency, palliative care, and some options for social benefits, are described in the theoretical part. The practical part includes 3 case reports of patients of the Centre for Demyelinating Diseases of the Neurological Clinic of the 1st Faculty of Medicine of the Charles University in Prague. All patients completed 6 individual occupational therapy sessions in their home environment. The therapy effect was evaluated by the Barthel Index, modified Frenchay scale and by the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM). Introduction: Fractures of the proximal end of the femur are one of the most frequent diagnoses. Patients with this diagnosis have to deal with performing daily activities. Both for painas well for the necessity of adherence to antiluxal measures. Thanks to this decrease thein independence from the other person. As one of the maingoals in this diploma thesis we determined means how occupational therapy canincrease self - sufficiency in this target group. As other goals, we found in formativ about the selection and financing of compensatory aids and we made a manual about this information. We focused on the factors that affect the return of patients to the home environment. Methodology: In the personal parts we chose 6 case studies (3 men and 3 women), in the averageage 73.5 years (median 72, 5), youngest 64 years, oldest 85 years. Patients underwent 5 therapies dedicated to the training of self - sufficiency of personal everyday activities (pADL). We measured the effectiveness of th erapeutic units using the Barthel Index. Title: Adaptation of Performance of Activities of Daily Living in Patients with Hemiparesis Subtitle: Training of Dressing up for Patients with Hemiparesis by the use of a Video Manual Abstract: This bachelor's thesis deals with the possibilities of adapting the implementation of personal activities of daily living (pADL) in patients with hemiparesis. In particular, it focuses on the possibilities of training and adaptation during dressing up of the upper and lower part of the patient's body. The theoretical part summarizes the basic knowledge of the central nervous system, motor control and neurological diseases, which result in the partial paralysis of one-half of the body. Furthermore, the concept of pADL and their connection to the field of occupational therapy is explained. The following chapters are dedicated to the theoretical description of the possibilities of adaptation, training of activities of daily living and evaluation in the field of occupational therapy. Last, but not least, there is an overview of existing manuals that are currently available. Kateřina Rybářová Title: The Independence in Persons with Multiple Sclerosis from the Perspective of the Occupational Therapist Abstract: The bachelor thesis is focused on the independence in persons with multiple sclerosis (MS) from the perspective of the occupational therapist. Multiple sclerosis is a chronic autoimmune demyelinating disease. The progress and symptoms of the disease are variable and specific to each patient, who may be impaired in his/her ability to perform activities of daily living (ADL). The aim of the thesis is to map problematic areas in ADL in persons with MS. The thesis consists of a theoretical part and a practical part. The theoretical part describes MS, pathogenesis, forms, symptoms, and treatment options. The theoretical part characterizes independence in ADL, evaluation of independence, independence in persons with MS, care for these persons, and compensation strategies. In the practical part, questionnaires distributed among patients were evaluated. The obtained data were compared on the basis of demographic data of patients. The thesis deals with ergonomics of home environment for patients after spinal cord injury. The main aim of the thesis is to highlight the importance of ergonomics and its impact on self-sufficiency of patients. It focuses especially on quadriplegic patients. The first theoretical part of the thesis summarizes general findings about spinal cord injury which are followed by characteristics of quadriplegic patients. The expert knowledge of ergonomics and occupational therapy shows their close interconnection linked with the issues of home environment of patients. The theoretical part is concluded by a list of requirements for wheelchair accessibility in home environment in accordance with Decree No. 398/2009 Coll. on general technical requirements to secure barrier-free usage of buildings. The second practical part of the thesis investigates the problem situations of three quadriplegic patients in detail. The main focus of the thesis is to examine the patients and their home environment. This bachelor thesis is aiming at creating a ADL (Activity of Daily Living) manual for people who suffered a stroke. Theoretical part is mainly focused on results of stroke that patients have to live with. It represents what occupational therapy is about and its irreplaceable role in the process of the patient's return to active life. It shows wide range of rehabilitation process and patient's difficulties with availability of complete materials with its issue. There are materials describing etiology, causes and results of stroke on the market, but not so many publications describing procedure how to deal with it and how to reach the highest level of patient's independence in normal life when it once happened. Practical part is represented by my own manual called ,,ADL manual for people after a stroke" with summary sheets included after each category of ADL. The manual contains use of common and also rare compensatory aids with instructions where to find details about those aids on the market. The manual was created with 30 different people who suffered stroke and use compensatory aids nowadays. Then the survey was made with these patients to express their opinions on the manual. This thesis discusses the state of barrier-free accessibility of public transport in Prague and Amsterdam. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part contains an introduction, description of environmental barriers, barrier-free accessibility and description of the legislation. The practical part provides specific information about the state of public transport in Prague and Amsterdam, as well as results of the checklists, discussion and conclusion. At the end of the thesis is a list of literature and the attachments.

Rehabilitation is generally understood as a discipline solving mainly problems connected with motor system. However, the concept of rehabilitation is much larger. In fact, rehabilitation is the all-society system where restoration of moving functions is only one of goals on the way to one{\crq}s reintegration into society. There are a lot of professions within this system participating in the process. Occupational therapy is one of them. The main goal of the dissertation is to introduce occupational therapy as a profession, and highlight its range and position in the system of rehabilitation. The dissertation answers the question on what occupational therapy can offer to the people in need of rehabilitation and investigates wether and how occupational therapy intervention can contribute to the rehabilitation proccess. Further more, the dissertation compares the roles of the profession in Czech Republic and Europe and uses the findings to formulate new hypothesis which can be used for a future research. The main approach of our dissertation is qualitative investigation. We chose the type of case study and participant observation. All that was completed with technique of secondary data analysis. In case studies and according to the experience from the London hospital has been discovered that occupational therapy deals with all components participating in execution of human activities. Occupational therapy assesses and provides interventions to improve sensomotoric, cognitive and psychosocial functions. The primary goal of occupational therapy is to enable people to participate in the activities of everyday life. The information obtained from trainee-ship on the Department of Occupational Therapy in London and data has charted and clarified position of occupational therapy. Main difference is in competency of the professionals. In Czech Republic competency are lower and more limited compared to the rest of Europe. Additionally, the number of occupational therapists is lower in our country than is an average in Europe. On the base of obtained information the new hypothesis has been made thereby both goals have been met.
