Abstract

We developed a large ultra-high-definition (8K) liquid crystal display with a high aperture ratio by making the source and drain electrodes, wirings, storage capacitors, and contact portions transparent. This increased the aperture ratio from 37.3% to 47.1% and reduced the backlight power consumption by approximately 21%.

Abstract

A foldable organic light-emitting diode display integrating a touch sensor is fabricated. The touch sensor has an in-cell structure where metal-mesh sensor electrodes are formed in a counter substrate. It is demonstrated that touch on the entire panel surface, including a bent portion, is detected and that the touch panel operates correctly after 100,000 folding operations with a radius of curvature of 5 mm.

Abstract

An 8.67-inch foldable OLED display with an in-cell touch sensor, in which metal-mesh sensor electrodes are formed in a counter substrate of the display, is fabricated. The OLED display demonstrates normal operation after 105 folding operation with 5 mm as the radius of curvature.

Abstract

In this study, white organic electroluminescent devices with microcavity structures were developed. A flexible high-resolution active-matrix organic light-emitting diode display with low power consumption using red, green, blue, and white sub-pixels formed by a color-filter method was fabricated. In addition, a side-roll touch display was developed in combination with a capacitive flexible touch screen.

Abstract

We discuss the steps for obtaining a curved touch-enabled display by using a c-axis aligned crystalline oxide semiconductor, OLEDs, a flexible-display technology, and a capacitive touch screen. This result is a side-roll display in which the front and side surfaces are a single curved surface with a 4 mm radius.

Abstract

We have prototyped a 3.0-in. VGA OLED panel containing low-temperature single-crystal silicon (LTSS) TFTs on a glass substrate and having six terminals for connection to external circuitry. The good ON characteristics of LTSS TFTs allows the use of the serial video signal, reducing the number of signals from external circuitry.
