Abstract

The article discusses a study by lead author Zorana Jovanovic Andersen and colleagues on the effects of exposure to air pollution while exercising. The study suggests that long-term exposure to air pollution while exercising did not reduce or outweigh the beneficial health effects of physical activity on mortality rate and heart and lung health.

Abstract

An interview with Rue Mapp, founder of Outdoor Afro, is presented. Asked her introduction to the outdoors, she cites the time she spent at a family ranch in Lake County in Oakland, California. Regarding Outdoor Afro, she describes how her interest in connecting African-Americans to the outdoor by using social media to develop the concept. She says that African-Americans have a historical fear of the outdoors.
