Compared with wood pulp, straw pulp and papermaking, because of lower cost and abundancy of raw material, has become an indispensable approach in paper industry of China. However, its further application is limited by huge water consumption and wastewater discharge. By employing substance flow analysis, this study built up an optimization model and a performance evaluation system of water saving for the water-use network of a straw pulp and paper enterprise, after identifying the problems in present water consumption. Accordingly, an optimization plan was proposed to combine man-made water circulation with natural water circulation system. Additionally, a contrast analysis between the present and optimized water use was conducted. At last, we applied the proposed optimization plan to one of the most important and largest enterprises of straw pulp and paper industry in China as an illustration. Sustainable development has become society's focal point. In this context, China's paper industry needs to be more concerned about a low‐carbon strategy. Therefore, a carbon performance evaluation system must be built to guide the low‐carbon enterprise transformation. Based on the carbon value flow analysis, this study takes JX Paper (a paper‐making enterprise) as an example to construct a carbon performance evaluation system consisting of carbon input, transfer, and output indicators. The quantitative and qualitative index weights were determined through a principal component analysis and an analytical hierarchy process. The overall carbon performance increased from 2012 to 2021, but room remains for improvement. These results show that the performance evaluation system provides a helpful reference for enterprises to identify the key factors affecting carbon emissions and evaluate their carbon performance. The pervasiveness of digital media has profoundly transformed how we preserve and promote intangible cultural heritage (ICH). With the growing popularity of Douyin, a video-focused social networking platform, ICH inheritors in China have begun to post videos that showcase their artisanship. On the one hand, the affordances of Douyin encourage its users to keep up with the latest trend, subjugating them to mimetic participation; on the other hand, heritage policies in China foster the top-down formation of nationalist identity. Therefore, how heritage practitioners negotiate between the top-down authority of policies and the horizontal mimesis of the platform is a matter of concern. This paper applies performance analysis to explore the Douyin videos of a Chinese craftsperson, Li Niangen, a municipal ICH inheritor whose Douyin videos are highly popular. ICH policies in China and the affordances of the platform may support the formation of distinct identities. However, by assuming multiple and even contrasting roles in his videos, Li is fully engaged in none of them. This paper proposes that the presentation of multiple roles copes with the conflicting logic in Chinese society. Watershed ecological compensation is an important means to protect the ecological environment and an important part of China's ecological civilization construction. It can promote the sustainable and coordinated development of a region, enhance the advantages of the ecological environment in the upstream area, and lay the foundation for the high-quality development of ecological tourism in the upstream area. The accurate evaluation of the effect and efficiency of ecological compensation is a prerequisite for optimizing and perfecting the ecological compensation system. In order to evaluate the effect and efficiency of watershed ecological compensation, this paper used the case study area of Anyuan County, an important ecological area of the Dongjiangyuan watershed in the pilot area of China's interprovincial watershed ecological compensation. This paper established an evaluation index system, used the entropy method and the data envelopment analysis (DEA) method to construct a watershed ecological compensation effect and efficiency evaluation model, and selected the ecological compensation index data from 2015 to 2020 to evaluate the effect and efficiency. This paper also constructed an econometric model to analyze their driving factors. The results showed that the effect of watershed ecological compensation was generally on the rise. Low pure technical efficiency (PTE) was the main reason for low comprehensive efficiency (CE), and the management efficiency of ecological compensation projects needs to be improved. The overall performance of scale efficiency (SE) was good, but there was still a problem of capital redundancy. Ecological compensation expenditure had a significant negative impact on the efficiency of ecological compensation, and ecotourism had a significant positive impact on the effect and efficiency of the ecological compensation. According to survey data released by the National Bureau of Statistics, from 2011 to 2022, the total output value of China's construction industry showed an increasing trend year by year. From 2018 to 2021, infrastructure investment has always maintained a positive growth, indicating that the current construction industry is in a rapid development stage. In order to improve the development quality of the construction industry as much as possible, it is of great significance to develop the whole Process engineering consulting service model. The quality evaluation of whole process engineering consulting service modes is MAGDM. The single-valued neutrosophic sets (SVNSs) is useful tool to cope with uncertain information during the quality evaluation of whole process engineering consulting service modes. In this paper, the single-valued neutrosophic number combined TOPSIS (SVNN-CTOPSIS) model based on single-valued neutrosophic number Hamming distances (SVNNHD) and single-valued neutrosophic number Euclidean distance (SVNNED) is formed to cope with the MAGDM. The CRITIC model is utilized to obtain the weight numbers in light with the SVNNHD and SVNNED under SVNSs. Finally, numerical example and comparative analysis for quality evaluation of whole process engineering consulting service modes is utilized to verify SVNN-CTOPSIS model. The main contributions of this study are formed: (1) the CRITIC model is formed to obtain the weight numbers in light with SVNNHD and SVNNED; (2) the SVNN-CTOPSIS model is formed in light with SVNNHD and SVNNED under SVNNs; (3) Finally, numerical example and comparative analysis for quality evaluation of whole process engineering consulting service modes is employed to verify SVNN-CTOPSIS model. The proper application of machine learning and genetic algorithms in the early stage of library design can obtain better all-around building performance. The all-around performance of the library, such as indoor temperature, solar radiation, indoor lighting, etc., must be fully considered in the initial design stage. Aiming at building performance optimization and based on the method of "generative design", this paper constructs the library's comprehensive performance evaluation workflow and rapid prediction combined with the LightGBM algorithm. A library in a cold region of China is taken as the research object to verify its application. In this study, 5000 scheme samples generated in the iterative genetic optimization process were taken as data sets. The LightGBM algorithm was used to classify and predict design schemes, with a precision of 0.78, recall rate of 0.93, and F1-Score of 0.851. This method can help architects to fully exploit the optimization potential of the building's all-around performance in the initial stage of library design and ensure the timely interaction and feedback between design decisions and performance evaluation. Dedicated bus lane (DBL) is one of the effective measures to improve transit system efficiency and further promote transit priority. Then, the performance assessment of DBLs turns out to be an essential task for better reflecting the interests of all stakeholders. To this end, this paper presents a data-driven and multidimensional framework to objectively and accurately assess the detailed performance of DBLs from the perspective of passengers, government, and operators, respectively, in which multiple data sources (i.e., IC card and GPS data) and corresponding mining technologies are adopted to establish a series of criteria, enabling a before-and-after comparison for DBL opening. The proposed model has been applied to evaluate the efficiency of the DBL system in the city of Chongqing, China. The results reveal the benefits of opening DBLs, especially for government interests, in which DBLs use less public resources to expand more public welfare. But its role in strengthening transit system competitiveness is diminished, because the opening of DBLs did not significantly increase speed and volume. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Plant protection unmanned aircraft vehicles (UAVs) were developed rapidly in China. The operation performances of different models of UAVs were different. This paper systematically studied droplet deposition distribution; pesticide-mixture utilization rate; operational efficiency; wheat-disease control efficacy; and a comprehensive score of three types of UAVs, a boom sprayer, and a knapsack sprayer. The results showed the descending order of the droplet penetration rate of the pesticide application equipment (PAE) was boom sprayer; UAVs; and knapsack sprayer. The pesticide-mixture utilization rates of the UAVs and boom sprayer were more than 50% while that of the knapsack electric sprayer was only 27.8%. The UAVs' average labor productivity was 5.75 ha per man-hour, which was slightly less than that of the boom sprayer and 21.3 times that of the knapsack sprayer. The control efficacy of each machine on wheat Fusarium head blight was more than 90%. The average performance comprehensive score of the UAVs was 0.812, which was slightly lower than the score of 0.929 for the 3WPZ-700 self-propelled boom sprayer but much higher than the score of 0.399 for the 3WBD-18 knapsack electric sprayer. The results clearly showed the potential of UAVs for improving the pesticide-mixture utilization rate and operational efficiency, as well as the wheat Fusarium head blight control efficacy. This paper research about a special phenomenon and what is the main fators which is decided the evaluation total scores of local government in diferent years of China. The contents of the paper included introduction, hypothesis and research methodology, data and quantitative model, editing data, analyzing data, data showed and conclusion. The paper tests the new hypothesis of the quantitative evaluation, and it is right that new public policy and its tools of public management are effectively in China, so the situation is changed that the quantitative evaluation becomes the decisive factor in the performance total score by the model of original evaluation data analysis. The following public policy is effective in the year of China local government: the new public policy increases strength of evaluation; the new public policy deal with the weakness of evaluation before 2009; make new public policy to fight threats of evaluation; and make new policy for opportunities of evaluation. The paper also tests the hypothesis of the quantitative evaluations and which fator is positive correlated with results of performance, the quantitative evaluation is the decisive factors of evaluation scores in local governments of China by the years of changing. This paper research about the ratio of quantitative scores and the relationship between different fators of Chinese-style performance evaluation, and the data showing that the caves of related fators are almost the same level, it is proved that the reason of the qualitative scores become the negative correlation factors of performance score after 2009. At last, the paper builds the evaluation model by econometrics and thinking about performance evaluation practice of Chinese local governments as following: The value of constant 0.23 means Y = exp 0.23 × 10 while every variable goes back to zero. The value of Y will be increase 0.81%, −0.18%, 0.44%, 0.01% while Y, Y, Y, Y increase 1%, and the prefer condition is that the other variables are not change. With the centralization of wind power development, power-prediction technology based on wind power clusters has become an important means to reduce the volatility of wind power, so a large-scale power-prediction method of wind power clusters is proposed considering the prediction stability. Firstly, the fluctuating features of wind farms are constructed by acquiring statistical features to further build a divided model of wind power clusters using fuzzy clustering algorithm. Then the spatiotemporal features of the data of wind power are obtained using a spatiotemporal attention network to train the prediction model of wind power clusters in a large scale. Finally, the stability of predictive performance of wind power is analyzed using the comprehensive index evaluation system. The results show that the RMSE of wind power prediction is lower than 0.079 at large-scale wind farms based on the prediction method of wind power proposed in this paper using experience based on the data of 159 wind farms in the Nei Monggol Autonomous Region in China and the extreme error is better than 25% for the total capacity of wind farms, which indicates high stability and accuracy. In order to explore an effective way to evaluate the comprehensive performance of high-quality development of China's manufacturing industry based on low-carbon constraints, this paper, based on the analysis of research background, drew on the latest domestic and international research results and experience, and fully considered the actual situation of high-quality development of China's manufacturing industry based on low-carbon constraints. Among the five criteria-layer evaluation index of economic development, energy consumption, technological innovation, environmental pressure and environmental pollution governance, 30 representative operating-layer evaluation indicators were selected, and a fuzzy matter-element extension evaluation model for the comprehensive performance evaluation of China's provincial high-quality development based on low-carbon constraints was constructed. By using the relevant statistical data in China Statistical Yearbook, China Energy Statistical Yearbook and China Environmental Status Bulletin, this paper conducted an evaluation study on the comprehensive performance of high-quality development of China's manufacturing industry based on low-carbon constraints in 31 provinces, verified the effectiveness of the fuzzy matterelement extension evaluation model, and provided an effective quantitative analysis method for the comprehensive performance evaluation of high-quality development of China's manufacturing industry based on low-carbon constraints. With the development of intelligent technology and the rapid growth of economic income of new energy enterprises in China, the research on the influencing factors of enterprise innovation performance has gradually emerged. Based on this, this paper studies the influencing factors and evaluation models of Chinese new energy enterprises' innovation performance based on the perspective of industrial policy. The innovation is to accurately analyze the influencing factors of enterprise innovation performance through optimizing genetic algorithms. Data acquisition is realized from the aspects of enterprise salary system status, technology R & D investment, performance evaluation, etc., and comprehensive analysis and evaluation are carried out by using genetic algorithm. The algorithm can realize multiple analysis and objective evaluation of the core influencing factors of innovation performance of China's new energy enterprises, according to the different characteristics of China's new energy enterprises and the current situation of enterprise income accurate analysis and evaluation. The results show that the innovation performance evaluation model of China's new energy enterprises based on the perspective of industrial policy has the advantages of high scientificity, good sorting effect of variable mass classification and better data demand, which can effectively analyze and compare the factors affecting the innovation performance of China's new energy enterprises with different masses. This study explores a performance measurement system for a dynamic supply chain partnership in a cross-cultural context. An initial framework is constructed by reviewing the existing literature, followed by an in-depth case study in the Chinese automotive industry, where the framework is refined to address the multi-cultural setting. A performance measurement, system which includes the relationship strategy and operational measurement criteria for a supply chain partnership, has been developed. The relationship strategy contains elements of strategy orientation, management style, interdependence, mutual organisational characteristics and common goals. The operational measurement criteria consist of commitment, trust, communication behaviour, information sharing, participation decision, quality, production performance, delivery, cost, supplier strength, attitude, compromise and loyalty. The last three operational measurement criteria are found to be particularly relevant to the cross-cultural feature. While existing studies tend to focus on either specific measures or individual organisations, this paper for the first time proposes a comprehensive framework to measure the performance of supply chain partnerships. Steel slag (SS) is industrial waste, and there is a large amount of SS to be treated in China. Its disposal generates severe environmental pollution. One of the best ways to use SS is as a road base material. This paper reviews the possibility of using SS in semi-rigid base and evaluates the performance of SS base course. The interaction between three stabilizers (cement, lime–fly ash, and cement–fly ash) and SS is analyzed, and the influence of modifier content on the performance of base course is evaluated. The potential laws between SS, curing time, and unconfined compressive strength, as well as drying shrinkage and temperature shrinkage, are discussed and their effects on the performance of the base course are revealed. The finite element method, discrete element method, and molecular dynamics can be used to analyze the freeze-thaw, rutting resistance, and crack development of SS base. In addition, compared with traditional macadam base, the CO2 emissions for the use of SS base are slightly more, one of the disadvantages of its use in production, transportation, and compaction. However, considering the overall mechanical, economic, and environmental benefits, it is recommended to use SS in semi-rigid base course. The research aims to improve the competitiveness of Chinese banking enterprises and China's banking industry in an increasingly competitive economic globalization (EG) environment. This paper takes research and development (R&D) investment as a practical method to improve the competitiveness of banks. Firstly, it introduces the enterprise sustainable development (SD) theory and total factor productivity (TFP) theory and analyzes the importance of R&D innovation to the development of banks. Then, radial basis function (RBF) network is proposed to test the impact of bank R&D investment on enterprise performance. Therefore, a bank performance evaluation (PE) system based on the Internet of Things (IoT) is established. Secondly, block matrix (BM) and the incremental learning algorithm are used to optimize the RBF network. The RBF network model is further improved, and the RBF network model based on the IoT cloud platform (CC-RBF) is proposed, which improves model convergence speed and accuracy. The results show that (I) BM and incremental learning algorithm can greatly simplify the calculation and improve the efficiency of RBF network model. (II) Bank R&D investment will significantly improve TFP. (III) The proposed CC-RBF network model can improve prediction accuracy and reduce the model training time. Current bridge codes in the US, Europe, and China specify vehicular collision loads for the design of piers. However, the performance of piers designed according to current codes in the three countries or regions is unknown yet. This paper presents a performance evaluation of concrete-filled steel tubular (CFST) piers subjected to vehicle collision. Before the evaluation, bridge specimens with a single CFST pier were designed in accordance with current bridge and structural codes in the three countries or regions, respectively. Then, a detailed finite-element (FE) model for simulating a truck collision with a CFST pier was developed and validated. By comparison with seven simplified FE models, the detailed FE model was further confirmed to be employed for the evaluation. In the evaluation, the effects of current codes in the three countries or regions, whether or not the vehicular collision load is considered, two pier heights (i.e., 6 and 12 m), two truck weights (i.e., 20 and 40 tons), and three impact speeds (i.e., 60, 100, and 140 km/h) on the performance of CFST piers were investigated. The evaluation results indicated that when a CFST pier in seismic zones is designed to resist vehicle collision according to current codes in the US and China, it only needs to meet the requirements of seismic design without additional consideration of the vehicular collision load. Moreover, a preliminary application condition should be added for the vehicular collision load specified by the current bridge code in Europe, that is, when the truck weight is more than 20 tons and/or the pier height is lower than 12 m. Reverse referral implies referring patients from a comprehensive hospital to a community healthcare centre. In recent years, it has become popular for post-acute care in the tiered Chinese hospital system as it helps achieve more balanced utilisation between facilities at different levels. Nevertheless, it remains unclear how to implement the reverse referral partnership given the likely conflicting interests between the involved hospitals. In this paper, we evaluate a reversal referral partnership involving one hospital of each type, for which we develop queuing models for the two hospitals to capture multiple patient waits, services and transitions, with reverse referral in place. We use queuing-based performance outcomes to evaluate the profitability of each hospital and its willingness to join the partnership. We combine the above evaluations to further assess the partnership effectiveness. The prefabricated reinforced concrete (RC) hollow slab bridges, with the advantages of high quality, lower cost and shorter construction period, have been widely used for small-to-medium-span highway bridges in China. Because of environmental deterioration and traffic volume increases, the performance of the bridge system deteriorates gradually. Accurate bridge system evaluation can provide a reliable basis for maintenance and management. A bridge system is composed of multiple interrelated components, which makes the system reliability evaluation become a computationally intractable work. In this paper, an effective method was proposed to evaluate the system reliability of the prefabricated RC hollow slab bridge considering hinge joint damage based on the modified analytic hierarchy process (AHP). Considering the subjectivity of the traditional AHP method in constructing the judgment matrix, this paper proposed an objective construction method of the judgment matrix to modify the traditional AHP. The modified hinge plate method (MHPM) proposed by the previous research was utilized to analyze the effect of hinge joint damage on system reliability. In order to verify the applicability of the proposed system reliability evaluation method, a simply supported RC hollow slab bridge was selected as the case study and the system reliability indexes were compared with the traditional series and parallel methods. The results indicated that the traditional methods were either too conservative or too radical to objectively evaluate the actual system reliability level of the structure. In contrast, the proposed method in this paper was more suitable for evaluating the system reliability of such bridges, and more accurate in providing maintenance decision makers with a relatively reasonable bridge condition information. China's maritime communication regulatory departments have issued some corresponding regulatory policies to ensure the sound development of China's maritime communication, but the evaluation of the regulatory performance of these policies has not been taken seriously, and some existing studies still lack a set of performance evaluation models verified by empirical studies. Based on this, this paper first uses principal component analysis method to establish an exploratory model of China's maritime communication regulation performance evaluation based on the maritime communication data of 31 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in China. On this basis, it uses BP neural network algorithm to verify the model and finally establishes a model of China's maritime communication regulation performance evaluation, thus providing a useful reference for China's maritime communication regulation. While TCP has been extensively studied in static and low speed mobility situations, it has not yet been well explored in high speed mobility scenarios. Given the increasing deployment of high speed transport systems (such as high speed rails), there is an urgent need to understand the performance and behavior of TCP in such high speed mobility environments. In this paper, we conduct a comprehensive study to investigate the performance and behavior of TCP in a high speed environment with a peak speed of 310 km/h. Over a 16-month period spanning four years, we collect 500 GB of performance data on 3/4G networks in high speed trains in China, covering a distance of 108,490 km. We start by analyzing performance metrics, such as RTT, packet loss rate, and throughput. We then evaluate the challenges posed on the main TCP operations (establishment, transmission, congestion control, flow control, and termination) by such high speed mobility. This paper shows that RTT and packet loss rate increase significantly and throughput drops considerably in high speed situations. Moreover, TCP fails to adapt well to such extremely high speed leading to abnormal behavior, such as high spurious retransmission time out rate, aggressive congestion window reduction, long delays during connection establishment and closure, and transmission interruption. As we prepare to move into the era of 5G, and as the need for high speed travel continues to increase, our findings indicate a critical need for efforts to develop more adaptive transport protocols for such high speed environments. This paper applies Industry Convergence model to evaluate the input-output efficiency of agricultural development from 2006 to 2008, measures and assesses whether the financial agricultural development input expands the coverage of local agricultural development according to the degree of economic and financial input into agricultural development. The study shows that the economic and financial input into agricultural development in a majority of areas in our country is not adequate, that the use of agricultural development fund is not reasonable, and that the financial input into agricultural development can seldom expand the coverage of local agricultural development. Finally, from facilitating economic development, increasing financial income, enhancing financial support for agricultural development, making reasonable use of agricultural development and expanding the coverage of agricultural development, the paper proposes the measure of increasing the input-output efficiency of agricultural development. This paper mainly demonstrates some experiences in China regarding surface damage inspection and performance evaluation of reinforced concrete (RC) bridges. To begin with, the mechanisms of the major damages of RC bridges such as chloride attack, concrete carbonation, and rebar corrosion are briefly reviewed. A statistical result of concrete cracking that exists in (prestressed) concrete bridges is presented as well. Second, the inspection practices of surface damages such as crack by using computer vision and deep learning on the RC pylons of the Jiang‐Yin Yangtze River bridge are demonstrated. Third, the specifications used in China for the performance evaluation of RC bridges are introduced. Its general philosophy and framework are explained. The Xia‐Men bridge is taken as an example to illustrate how to conduct a quantitative performance evaluation by following the instructions in China specifications. Making use of econometric models in Shandong province of China, the paper verifies a method which can calculate the scale of positive externality measured in currency caused by enterprises' activity, and evaluates the performance of government fiscal expenditure for energy conservation and environmental protection in internalizing the positive externality of enterprises' activity in industrial system. Firstly, with the aid of the economic implications of econometric model parameters and the coefficient of determination, we separate the share of resource saving and the pollutant emission reduction caused by government fiscal expenditure from the total industrial resource saving and pollutant emission reduction; secondly, the environmental value of unit pollutant emission reduction and unit resource saving is estimated by using the data of the amount of pollutants removed from the regional industrial system and the operating costs of the relevant facilities; thirdly, with the aid of data on this expenditure and environmental value of unit pollutant emission reduction and unit resource saving, we monetize the scale of positive externalities of the entire regional industrial system; finally, the performance evaluation indicator is constructed to evaluate the performance of government fiscal expenditure for energy conservation and environmental protection in Shandong Province and typical municipal governments. The paper draws several conclusions: It is reasonable to use the internalization degree of positive externalities as the performance evaluation key indicator of government fiscal expenditure for energy conservation and environmental protection; there is a problem of low performance in regulating the positive externalities of enterprises in Shandong Province; the performance level can be improved by adjusting the expenditure structure of energy conservation and environmental protection funds; environmental values of unit pollutant emission reduction and unit resource conservation have obvious spatial differences, which has a significant impact on fiscal expenditure performance for energy conservation and environmental protection. Purpose: The topic of employees' unethical pro-organizational behavior (UPB) has attracted more and more interest in both practice and academic fields. However, previous studies have mainly investigated the antecedents of UPB and little research has discussed the outcome variables. This study aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the effect mechanism of UPB on employee performance evaluation rated by a supervisor through a leader-member exchange (LMX) and the moderating role of supervisor bottom-line mentality (BLM). Design/methodology/approach: This study used a sample consisting of 304 employees and 96 supervisors in several manufacturing firms in China. The authors used hierarchical linear modeling to test the hypotheses, as this was cross-level research. In addition, this paper also uses Mplus7.4 to test the moderating effects of supervisor BLM on the indirect effects between the UPB and performance evaluation by a moderated path analysis. Findings: The results confirm that UPB is positively related to performance evaluation rated by supervisors. Additionally, the mediating effect of LMX in the relationship between UPB and performance evaluation is successfully demonstrated. Furthermore, supervisor BLM cross-levelly moderates the relationship between UPB and LMX, as well as moderates the mediation effect of LMX on the correlation between UPB and performance evaluation. Research limitations/implications: The primary contribution of this research is building a cross-level model for the effect of UPB on followers' performance evaluation scored by the supervisor and thereby extending the nomological networks of both UPB and performance evaluation literature. Another contribution the study makes to the literature is that it provides a new perspective to understand how UPB relates to followers' performance evaluation. Using first-hand performance evaluation reports from Zhejiang province and a series of interviews, this paper provides a preliminary assessment of performance evaluation in China. Evaluation reports are examined in terms of their format, content, evaluative criteria, conclusion and the characteristics of evaluation staff. China was found to be somewhat open in terms of involving external evaluators, and minimal variance was seen in evaluation scores. China is in the early stages of measuring performance in a context where centralized governance is in place; various reform initiatives are taking shape; the boundaries of scientific evaluations and the potential usefulness of performance evaluations within its political environment are unknown. Urban comprehensive carrying capacity is an important guarantee and external representation of regional sustainable development. Based on urban comprehensive carrying capacity, this paper constructed a performance evaluation index system of urban comprehensive carrying capacity, and used entropy method, urban comprehensive carrying capacity measurement model and urban sustainable development model to measure spatial and temporal comprehensive carrying capacity of Harbin City in Heilongjiang Province from 2012 to 2017. The results show that: 1) index weight analysis suggested the regional development mode in Harbin still followed an epitaxial development mode, which pursued the expansion of scale and the growth of total amount of regional development, neglecting the effective utilization of resources and the improvement of structural benefits. 2) In the pressure system, the index of resource support has dropped sharply. The index of environmental capacity and social progress has risen circuitously, while the degree of agglomeration and the value of transportation facilities have risen steadily; in the pressure system, the index of population development and economic growth tended to fluctuate, while energy consumption and environmental pollution showed a more synchronous change in characteristics, and the livable demand remained at a high level. 3) The carrying capacity index of resources and environment in Harbin has been declining, and the acquired carrying capacity index fluctuated. The long-term regional development model has severely impaired the carrying capacity of resources and environment. 4) The comprehensive carrying capacity of Harbin has clear spatial differentiation characteristics. Finally, the paper proposes that location conditions, economic development level, government regulation, and science and technology are the main factors influencing the spatial differentiation of urban comprehensive carrying capacity. The Chinese performance in climate change is considered by some to have fallen short of the standard of performances of the world's other large developing countries. This paper presents a ranking methodology and a case study to evaluate Chinese performance in climate change. Eight economic, social and environment indicators were collected for China and an additional 17 for the largest greenhouse gas (GHG) emitters in non-Annex I countries. An MS-Excel spreadsheet was developed to manipulate these indicators and to calculate indices. A comparative analysis of the 18 countries was undertaken to highlight and compare the Chinese performance. This paper concludes that China's climate change performance is not as bad as some agencies have suggested: in fact, it has improved over the past few years. In order to perform better, however, China needs to reduce its growth rate of GHG emissions, reduce fossil fuel consumption, promote energy efficiency, enhance education, and facilitate human development in fighting climate change. Purpose -- Human resources have become a key issue in relation to the strong competition between service firms. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to explore the relationship between high-performance human resource management (HRM) within this field to firm performance, making a useful attempt to explore the "black box" of enterprise human resources management effect on firm performance. Design/methodology/approach -- In order to validate the relationship between high-performance HRM and firm performance, Chinese service industry samples were collected. Structural equation modeling and regression are adopted to estimate the direct effect of high-performance HRM on firm performance and the mediating role of innovation. Findings -- The results show that the impacts of high-performance HRM on firm performance are significant. Moreover, innovation plays a partial mediating role between them. Training, work analysis and employee participation has a significantly positive impact on firm performance, while effects of profit sharing, employee development and performance evaluation on enterprise performance is not significant. The results strongly support the hypothesis that innovation holds intermediary variables between high-performance HRM and firm performance. Practical implications -- Studying the relationship between high-performance HRM and firm performance can help Chinese enterprises more reasonable and effective learning foreign advanced management ideas and methods. And then can help Chinese enterprises to establish a high-performance HRM system that is suitable for Chinese enterprises; the research can help enterprises to identify meaningful practice of human resources management, outstanding keys, and perfect the HRM system of enterprises; research on innovation and innovative thinking is conducive to develop employees' innovation motive, promote employee' innovative behavior, and improve firm performance. In this paper, we propose a new method to estimate the wave height of a specific return period based on the Hurst rule and a self-affine fractal formula. A detailed description of our proposed model is presented in this paper. We use the proposed model to analyze wave height data recorded along the coast of Chaolian Island from 1963 to 1989. This paper evaluates the physical characteristics, technical performance, and operational issues associated with bus rapid transit (BRT) systems implemented in 13 Chinese cities. BRT systems in China have shown medium performance; the peak ridership averaged , and the peak hour speed averaged . Compared with Latin American BRT systems, Chinese BRT systems operate at a comparable speed but carry much fewer passengers. The empirical analysis of Chinese BRT systems implies that the technical performance of BRT is not significantly related with urban size. This paper gives some evidence that overtaking lanes and shared lanes have significant impacts on peak ridership and frequency, and long station-spacing has a positive impact on peak hour speed. Although BRT has become a viable option of transportation improvement, some notable disadvantages identified in Chinese BRT design and operation should be taken into consideration for improving BRT implementation. With the rapid development of hydraulic fracturing technology, shale gas has become a significant natural gas resource in China. At present, SRV (stimulated reservoir volume) fracturing technology is widely used to exploit shale gas reservoirs. To evaluate the shale gas reserves and design a development plan, a simple and rapid method is needed to predict the production and performance of the multistage fractured horizontal wells with stimulated reservoir volume in shale gas reservoirs. Network fractures with different lengths and widths are not symmetrical to the horizontal well. To account for the complexity of the fracture system and desorption characteristics of shale gas, a semianalytical multiregion seepage model has been established to analyze the performance of multiple fractured horizontal wells. In this paper, a triple‐porosity dual‐permeability model is developed for simulating the flow mechanism of shale gas. Different lengths and widths of network fractures, different fracture intervals, and asymmetry distribution are considered in this model. By employing the principle of Poisson's superposition and Bessel transformation, the fundamental solution of instantaneous point source function has been derived to calculate the pressure response of each hydraulic fracture. Then, the mathematical model for unsteady performance evaluation in multiple fractured horizontal wells has been obtained to simultaneously solve the pressure response of every hydraulic fracture. The sensitivity analysis in terms of the lengths and widths of network fractures, fracture intervals, and the asymmetry distribution of a complex fracture system is presented. Data analytics is at the core of the supply chain for both products and services in modern economies and societies. Big data workloads, however, are placing unprecedented demands on computing technologies, calling for a deep understanding and characterization of these emerging workloads. In this paper, we propose ShenZhen Transportation System (SZTS), a novel big data Hadoop benchmark suite comprised of real-life transportation analysis applications with real-life input data sets from Shenzhen in China. SZTS uniquely focuses on a specific and real-life application domain whereas other existing Hadoop benchmark suites, such as HiBench and CloudRank-D, consist of generic algorithms with synthetic inputs. We perform a cross-layer workload characterization at the microarchitecture level, the operating system (OS) level, and the job level, revealing unique characteristics of SZTS compared to existing Hadoop benchmarks as well as general-purpose multi-core PARSEC benchmarks. Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine the joint influence of technological newness (TN) and market newness (MN) on the relationship between customer involvement (CI) and new product performance.Design/methodology/approach The authors employed hierarchical moderated regression analysis to test the hypothesized relationships using survey data collected from 214 Chinese manufacturing firms.Findings The authors found that the impact of CI on new product performance varies across the different configurations of TN and MN. Specifically, the performance effect of CI is most positive under low TN and high MN, while the performance effect is least positive under low TN and low MN.Originality/value This study enriches CI research by identifying different configurations of product innovativeness that augment or limit the value of CI. This paper concludes this journal issue by examining the regimes of evaluation that link qualia to qualities. I examine the practices through which qualisigns of value emerge, looking specifically at practices of evaluation and ranking in Chinese art school. As Chinese art students matriculate from high school to college, they pass from a regime of standardized testing in which highly technical realist drawings are anonymously scored and compared, to a regime of ‘critique’ organized around small-scale face-to-face performances in which teachers and students discursively construct an art object as an indexical icon of the student. In the test, qualia are isolated and converted into quantitative scores; in the critique, qualia are integrated into indexical icons of personality. I regard the test and the critique as instances of the two evaluation regimes most widely used in contemporary institutions: the quantifying regime and the rhematizing regime (cf. The assessment of quality in scientific research is a complex problem. The use of more objective scientometric indices in research evaluation emerged in the 1960s and 1970s. These scientometric indicators, among which the most common one is probably the journal impact factor (IF), are increasingly employed to evaluate the quality of scientific research performed by individual scientists, research groups, or institutes. In China, the IF is used not only to measure a journal's scientific influence, but has become increasingly important as a basis for recruitment or promotion, awards of research funding, grants, and authors' academic advancement. But in fact, the assessment of research mainly based on the IF will cause much academic 'froth', so it is necessary for universities and research institutions to reset the academic assessment system in China. The importance of a transportation terminal's transfer efficiency to passengers is well known. However, it is still a problem of how to combine the various indicators into a single indicator that can be used to quickly compare transportation terminals' transfer efficiency and identify those terminals in need of intervention. This paper presents a study that is reflective of such an effort. Using the transfer data obtained from 10 transportation terminals in Beijing, the individual performance measures were combined into a single comprehensive measure through the data envelopment analysis (DEA). Efficiency is allowed to be measured by DEA when decision making units have multiple inputs and multiple outputs. The input variables are the transfer area, operating expense, (the number of) staff in the terminal and the capacity of buses. The output variables are measured by the transfer safety and average transfer time of all the transfer passengers. This paper gained the efficiency order of the 10 transportation terminals in Beijing, and provides the potential improvements of each efficiency indicators. Performance evaluation in construction safety is of great importance to further improve upon safety management processes. This paper develops a data envelopment analysis (DEA) based framework to evaluate the construction safety performance at the macro level. The core of the method is to compare the output-input ratio of construction safety. Using the building practitioner, construction machinery and equipment, and construction area as the inputs, and value added of construction and death toll as the outputs, safety performance score is computed for the China's provincial construction industries from 2009 to 2017. The results show that the number of benchmark provinces every year is between five and seven. The gap between the best-performing and underperforming province was relatively small in 2012 and big in 2014. Beijing, Qinghai, Hainan, Fujian, Chongqing, and Tianjin can be utilized as role models for the provinces that need to improve their performance in construction safety. The eastern region has the highest score in construction safety performance, followed by the western and central region. This study provides an effective solution to solve performance issue in regional construction safety and improves the tradition performance evaluation system to a certain extent. Regular network data envelopment analysis (NDEA) models for calculating the efficiency of decisionmaking units (DMUs) with two-stage construction requires the data set to be deterministic. In the real world, however, there are many observations that have stochastic behavior. This paper proposes a network DEA with two-stage structures models by the attention to stochastic data. The stochastic two-stage network DEA models are formulated based on the P-models of chance constrained programming and leader-follower concepts. On the basis of probability distribution properties and by the assumption of stochastic single factor components of data set, the probabilistic form of models is transformed to the equivalent deterministic linear programming model. In addition, the relationship between each stage as leader or follower is discussed. Based on the data of China's ecological environment from 2006 to 2018, the paper uses the super-efficiency DEA and Malmquist index methods to evaluate China's ecological welfare performance from a static and dynamic perspective. Based on this, the Theil index is used to analyze the group's ecological welfare performance. The internal and intergroup differences show that, from the static evaluation results, China's ecological welfare performance is in a situation of "high in the east, low in the west, and average in the central region." There is not much difference between the eastern and central regions, while the ecological welfare performance in the western region is low. From the results of dynamic evaluation, the overall level of regional ecological welfare performance in China has improved in recent years, and the average Malmquist index has exceeded 1, indicating that the growth pattern of ecological welfare performance has shifted to high quality, but the degree of increase in each region is different. There is still much room for improvement in ecological welfare performance; from the perspective of intragroup and intergroup differences, the intragroup differences and intergroup differences in the three major regions have generally maintained a continuous downward trend, and the contribution of the differences in ecowelfare performance between group rate has a clear advantage. China has made huge economic achievements based on industry. Heterogeneity, resulting from the industrial structure, energy endowment, and infrastructure among regions, has always been neglected on industrial performance evaluation. This paper focuses on provincial industrial heterogeneity to make a study. Firstly, meta-frontier slack-based measure is employed to rate industrial energy and environment efficiency of China. Besides, spatial evolution characteristics of efficiencies are described by global Moran's I and local Moran's I index. Taking the spatial correlation effect of efficiency into consideration, factors driving Chinese industrial energy and environment efficiency are analyzed and distinguished by quantitative regression and spatial Durbin model. It finds that (1) technical inefficiency and managerial inefficiency mainly attribute to the inefficiency of industrial energy and environment. (2) Chinese industrial energy and environment efficiency presents a stable spatial agglomeration as "high aggregation, low aggregation." It is necessary and indispensable for provinces and regions to cooperate to enhance efficiency. (3) Each province has a distinct driving mechanism of efficiency.
