A Linear Oscillating Actuator (LOA) generates bi‐directional electromagnetic (EM) force between two extreme points. A new topology of moving magnet LOA with axial magnetised PMs and a C‐shaped stator core is proposed. On each side of the mover, two chamfered tubular‐shaped core material parts are attached. All the design parameters, such as mover mass and EM force of the LOA, are optimised using parametric analysis via parametric sweep, and the optimum values of the parameters are chosen based on design and performance parameters. The LOA's performance is examined for various input loading values and at different oscillation region positions. For various values of time‐dependent supply, the EM force's oscillating nature is analysed. The effect of resonance analysis on input current, stroke to current ratio, and efficiency are discussed. The proposed LOA is compared to current LOA topologies in terms of design structure and performance parameters. The FEM results are validated using a special experimental setup. In comparison with surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous machines (SPMSM), inset permanent magnet consequent pole synchronous machine (IPMCPSM) reduce permanent magnet volume to half; however, magnetic circuit in consequent pole (CP) machines are un-balanced between iron pole and PM pole which results significant harmonics in magnetic flux density which contributes to torque ripple ( T rip ) and cogging torque ( T cog ) leading to vibration and acoustic noise. To overcome the above-mentioned shortcomings, this paper proposes a novel H-type modular stator IPMCPSM is proposed, and 3rd order harmonic shaped rotors are thoroughly investigated for average torque ( T avg ) improvement and suppression of T cog and T rip . For this purpose, sin shape, sin+3rd order harmonic, inverse cosine and inverse cosine with 3rd order harmonic are investigated. Analysis reveals that using 3rd harmonic shaped rotor, harmonic content of back-EMF is curtailed by 35.93%, intensify flux linkage up to 2.9%, increase T avg up to 10.24%, repressed T cog up to 75.27% and diminish T rip up to 73.56% when compare with initial rotor structure. In this paper, a novel dual mechanical port dual rotor counter-rotating permanent magnet flux switching generator (DMPDRCR-PMFSG) for wind turbine applications is proposed. Power distribution between the inner and outer rotors of the proposed DMPDRCRPMFSG that contributes to the cumulative output power is investigated. The proposed DMPDRCR-PMFSG shares a stator connected back-to-back through flux bridge. The flux bridge physically isolates the armature winding of the inner and outer ports. Furthermore, the flux bridge provides a flux path to magnetic flux of the inner and outer ports that contributes to cumulative output power. Quantitative comparative analysis of the inner and outer ports illustrates that under static analysis 18.57% more flux, 23.95% highly induced back-EMF, 31.08% of enhanced average torque are obtained in the outer rotor at the cost of 64.01% and 22.7% increase in cogging and torque ripple ratio, respectively. Comparative analysis with a number of turns reveals that the outer port offers 41.17% higher output power and 7.09% improved efficiency at the cost of 42.52% increase in voltage regulation factor. Finally, coupled overload and over-speed analysis shows that despite a stable and low voltage drop ratio, the outer port offers 4.65% higher output voltage. Analysis shows that in the proposed DMPDRCR-PMFSG, the outer port has a dominant contribution to the cumulative power distribution. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Flux switching motor (FSM) with field excitation is permanent magnet free and attractive for many industrial and domestic applications. However, design with the conventional trapezoidal stator slot has low efficiency and always been a challenge in the state of the art. Further, the finite element analysis (FEA) method for the electromagnetic performance investigation is a powerful tool, but, it has high computational time, computational complexity and drive storage. To address the concern of low efficiency, in this paper, a new single phase 8slots–6poles electrically excited (EE) FSM design with the rectangular stator slot (RSS), salient rotor and non-overlapped windings for pedestal fan applications is been proposed. The proposed RSS EEFSM design is analyzed analytically and the analytical results are validated by FEA method. Finally, experimental test of the proposed EEFSM prototype is performed. A dual mover yokeless multi-tooth (DMYMT) permanent magnet flux switching motor (PM-FSM) design is presented in this article for ropeless elevator applications. The excitation sources, including a field winding and permanent magnet, are on the short mover in the proposed design structure, whereas the stator is a simple slotted iron core, thus reducing the vertical transportation system cost. The operational principle of the proposed DMYMT in PM-FSM is introduced. The proposed dual mover yokeless multi-tooth Permanent Magnet Flux Switching Motor is analyzed and compared for various performance parameters in a Finite Element Analysis package. The proposed machine has high thrust force and cost-effectiveness compared to conventional dual permanent magnet motor. Finally, this paper also develops an analytical model for the proposed structure, validated by comparing it with Finite Element Analysis simulation results. Double sided linear flux switching permanent magnet machines (DSLFSPMMs) exhibit high thrust force density, high efficiency, low cost and robust double salient secondary (stator) structures. The aforementioned unique features make DSLFSPMM suitable for long stroke applications. However, distorted flux linkage waveforms and high detent forces can exaggerate thrust force ripples and reduce their applicability in many areas. In order to enhance thrust force performance, reduce thrust force ripple ratio and total harmonic distortion (THD) of no-load flux linkages, two structure-based advancements are introduced in this work, i.e., asynchronous mover slot and stator tooth displacement technique (AMSSTDT) and the addition of an active permanent magnet end slot (APMES).
