- Abstract
The focused attention arises as a fundamental condition to the learning process, since the greater the power to keep the focus on a certain object or task, the better the chance of success. We intend to know the aspects to which the students pay attention during the different moments of the Physical Education class. The sample consisted of 156 students from the 3rd Cycle of Basic Education, of both genders (84 female and 72 male). We applied the questionnaire ATEST-EF (Petrica, 2010; Santos et al., 2019), in which the students signalized what they were thinking of at certain moments of the Physical Education classes. The final results indicate that there are no significant differences in terms of statistics, because after the application of the test of "Qui-Quadrado" to associate the variable "Attention" and the variable "Signal", we can verify the value of (p = .373). From the analysis performed, we can infer that in relation to students' attention profile study, there are no statistically significant differences. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The regular practice of physical exercise has a positive role on mental health and a positive contribution to the development of cognitive function, considered beneficial to academic performance. The present study aimed to analyse the impact of physical exercise on students' academic performance. 227 students participated, of which 112 (49.3%) were male and 115 (50.6%) were female, aged between 10 and 13 years old, from 5th and 6th grades in a Portuguese public school. The Susan Harter Self-Concept Scale validated for the Portuguese population was used, and a descriptive and inferential analysis of the data was conducted to analyse the levels of handgrip strength, aerobic capacity and academic performance. Linear regression analysis was used to interpret the predictive variables and we calculated the magnitude of the effect. The results suggest that the practice of physical exercise enhances the levels of aerobic capacity, handgrip strength and academic performance of students. In addition to physical education classes, the individual sports combined with the team sports present very positive values in relation to the variables described. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Estudos anteriores indicam-nos que existem diferenças no perfil de atenção nos distintos momentos da aula de Educação Física e na lecionação de modalidades desportivas diferenciadas Recent investigations state the importance of the analysis of the act of teaching act, and, mainly, of the study of the pupil’s way of thinking , taking into account the factors that can hold his/her attention in class. Attention is considered a powerful mediating variable because its influence in the teaching-learning process is evident, as well as the mutual influence between the teacher and the students’ behaviours and the results of the learning process. With this study, we intend to know the aspects that hold pupil’s attention throughout the different moments of the Physical Education classes when teaching different sports’ activities. Students aged between 12 to 16 years old from the 3rd Cycle of Portuguese Education system, attending the same school, will be asked to answer a questionnaire (ATEST_EF) on different sports’ activities. Previous studies show us that there are differences between the students’ attention level throughout the different moments of a Physical Education class and the teaching of different sports’ activities.

Teaching analysis ,Student attention ,Physical education - Abstract
In the direction to look for a better Knowing of the teaching process, to the level of that we cannot see: the thought, and particulary, the thought of those to which the learning concerns, we direct our study for the attention of the pupils. In fact, it seems not to be doubt that, in education, if the pupils will not be with attention to what they are doing, their learning will leave inevitably compromised. The basic purpose of this research was to know what students were thinking during Physical Education Classes. For data collection we used an instrument with a single question of closed and alternative reply, so that it could be filled in the fastest way. The questionnaire was applied to a large group of 10-13 years old pupils, in the classes observed to pré-service physical Education Teachers. The analysis of the questionnaires allowed us to get a global image of this aspect of the thought of the pupils, to be able to represent the profile of their attention in the lessons of the human movement.

This dissertation falls within the framework of a teaching and education model paradigm shift from a Cartesian paradigm, which is associated with a simplified and/or simplifying form of reality analysis, to a new paradigm focused on complexity, in the meaning assigned to it by Morin. This paradigm shift necessarily calls for changes in the form of curricular organization, by advocating a simultaneous assimilation of simplicity and complexity in reading reality, the replacement of the classical logic rigidity for the incorporation of complementary and antagonistic notions, in addition to the knowledge of the integration of the parts in the whole, altogether with the recognition of the whole in the parts. In line with this paradigm shift, this research addresses the issue of the integrated curriculum, organized by transdisciplinary themes, in an international school. Divided in two studies, this dissertation presents as the main purpose in study I – to understand precisely which values are perceived by the students of that school regarding the practice of physical education and extracurricular sporting activity, and in study II - to understand the motivations prompting young people to those practices (physical education and sporting activities). Whereas values guide decision making and choices of individuals, and school plays a key role in student training, the starting point to achieve the purpose embodied in this research is the theory of Rokeach on values, and Schwartz’s on motivations and its application in cross-cultural studies.

Objective: The main objective of this study is to verify if, in the physical activity classes, the levels vary in two different educational groups. We will seek to establish whether there are significant differences regarding the level of satisfaction in these classes among students without disabilities condition and students from a private charitable organization, with the condition of intellectual disability, ascertain what the possible reasons for the level of satisfaction. Material and Methods: Quantitative and cross-sectional study with a sample of 71 students, who were divided into two distinct educational groups. The 1st group consisted of 41 students from the Escola Superior de Educação, belonging to the 3rd year of the Bachelor of Desporto e Atividade Fisica and the Masters in the same area (boys = 30 / girls = 11), from 20 to 49 years with a mean age of 23.7 ± 4.71. The 2nd group consisted of students with a condition of intellectual disability, from a Private Institution of Social Solidarity in the district of Castelo Branco, participating in 30 subjects (boys = 12 / girls = 18), from 18 to 51 years old, with mean age of 30.0 ± 8.71. We used an adaptation of the satisfaction questionnaire validated by Querido (2009). The data were processed in S.P.S.S. 20.0. Initially we used the descriptive statistics by frequency of occurrence, average, standard deviation and percent relative and absolute. Later to the inferential analysis, we proceeded to use the Chi Square, adopting a significance level of 0.05. Results: The results showed that, in a generalized way, students were satisfied with the lessons of Physical Activity and Sport, and this conjecture showed more positive emotions than negative, with respect to satisfying the classes in question. It then emerged that there were no statistically significant differences between the two groups in the sample for the questionnaire items, except the negative perception about time, the superiority of performance relative to its peers and dissatisfaction in relationships with colleagues, where differences were found statistically acceptable. Conclusion: The two sample groups, in general, demonstrate a positive satisfaction with the lessons of Physical Activity and Sport, in other words, enjoy participating in class, think time starts to run in this classes, the environment that surrounds them it’s nice, that they learn a lot, helping to improve your physical condition and that, in general, play enough with them.
