1. The central region of a void: an analytical solution

Abstract: We offer an exact analytical equation for the void central region. We show that the central density is solely determined by the amplitude of the initial perturbation. Our results suggest that N-body simulations somewhat overestimate the emptiness of voids: the majority of them should have the central underdensity $\delta_c > -73\%$, and there should be almost no voids with $\delta_c < -88\%$. The central region of a void is a part of an open Friedmann's 'universe', and its evolution differs drastically from the Universe evolution: there is a long stage when the curvature term dominates, which prevents the formation of galaxy clusters and massive galaxies inside voids. The density profile in the void center should be very flat. We discuss some void models obtained by N-body simulations and offer some ways to improve them. Abstract: Being generated, the relic neutrino background contained equal fractions of electron $\nu_e$, muon $\nu_\mu$, and taon $\nu_\tau$ neutrinos. We show that the gravitational field of our Galaxy and other nearby cosmic objects changes this composition near the Solar System, enriching it with the heaviest neutrino $nu_3$. This mass state is almost free of the electron component (only $\sim 2\%$ of $\nu_e$) and contains more muon component than the tau one. As a result, the relic background becomes enriched with taon and particularly muon neutrinos. Abstract: Supernova remnants (SNRs) are among the most important targets for γ-ray observatories. Being prominent non-thermal sources, they are very likely responsible for the acceleration of the bulk of Galactic cosmic rays (CRs). To firmly establish the SNR paradigm for the origin of cosmic rays, it should be confirmed that protons are indeed accelerated in, and released from, SNRs with the appropriate flux and spectrum. This can be done by detailed theoretical models which account for microphysics of acceleration and various radiation processes of hadrons and leptons. The current generation of Cherenkov telescopes has insufficient sensitivity to constrain theoretical models. A new facility, the Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA), will have superior capabilities and may finally resolve this long standing issue of high-energy astrophysics. We want to assess the capabilities of CTA to reveal the physics of various types of SNRs in the initial 2000 years of their evolution. During this time, the efficiency to accelerate cosmic rays is highest. We perform time-dependent simulations of the hydrodynamics, the magnetic fields, the cosmic-ray acceleration, and the non-thermal emission for type Ia, Ic and IIP SNRs. We calculate the CTA response to the γ-ray emission from these SNRs for various ages and distances, and we perform a realistic analysis of the simulated data. We derive distance limits for the detectability and resolvability of these SNR types at several ages. We test the ability of CTA to reconstruct their morphological and spectral parameters as a function of their distance. Finally, we estimate how well CTA data will constrain the theoretical models. Abstract: We investigate the reliability of standard N-body simulations by modelling of the well-known Hernquist halo with the help of \texttt{GADGET-2} code (which uses the tree algorithm to calculate the gravitational force) and \texttt{ph4} code (which uses the direct summation). Comparing the results, we find that the core formation in the halo center (which is conventionally considered as the first sign of numerical effects, to be specific, of the collisional relaxation) has nothing to do with the collisional relaxation, being defined by the properties of the tree algorithm. This result casts doubts on the universally adopted criteria of the simulation reliability in the halo center. Though we use a halo model, which is theoretically proved to be stationary and stable, a sort of numerical 'violent relaxation' occurs. Its properties suggest that this effect is highly likely responsible for the central cusp formation in cosmological modelling of the large-scale structure, and then the 'core-cusp problem' is no more than a technical problem of N-body simulations., 14 pages, 6 figures

Abstract: We consider the behavior of spherically symmetric Einasto halos composed of gravitating particles in the Fokker-Planck approximation. This approach allows us to consider the undesirable influence of close encounters in the N-body simulations more adequately than the generally accepted criteria. The Einasto profile with index $n \approx 6$ is a stationary solution of the Fokker-Planck equation in the halo center. There are some reasons to believe that the solution is an attractor. Then the Fokker-Planck diffusion tends to transform a density profile to the equilibrium one with the Einasto index $n \approx 6$. We suggest this effect as a possible reason why the Einasto index $n \approx 6$ occurs so frequently in the interpretation of N-body simulation results. Abstract: Galaxy observations and N-body cosmological simulations produce conflicting dark matter halo density profiles for galaxy central regions. While simulations suggest a cuspy and universal density profile (UDP) of this region, the majority of observations favor variable profiles with a core in the center. In this paper, we investigate the convergency of standard N-body simulations, especially in the cusp region, following the approach proposed by \protect{\citep{13}}. We simulate the well known Hernquist model using the SPH code Gadget-3 and consider the full array of dynamical parameters of the particles. We find that, although the cuspy profile is stable, all integrals of motion characterizing individual particles suffer strong unphysical variations along the whole halo, revealing an effective interaction between the test bodies. This result casts doubts on the reliability of the velocity distribution function obtained in the simulations. Moreover, we find unphysical Fokker-Planck streams of particles in the cusp region. The same streams should appear in cosmological N-body simulations, being strong enough to change the shape of the cusp or even to create it. Our analysis, based on the Hernquist model and the standard SPH code, strongly suggests that the UDPs generally found by the cosmological N-body simulations may be a consequence of numerical effects. A much better understanding of the N-body simulation convergency is necessary before a 'core-cusp problem' can properly be used to question the validity of the CDM model., 7 pages, 5 figures, accepted to JCAP

Abstract: A very general cosmological consideration suggests that, along with galactic dark matter halos, much smaller dark matter structures may exist. These structures are usually called 'clumps', and their mass extends to $10^{-6} M_\odot$ or even lower. The clumps should give the main contribution into the signal of dark matter annihilation, provided that they have survived until the present time. Recent observations favor a cored profile for low-mass astrophysical halos. We consider cored clumps and show that they are significantly less firm than the standard NFW ones. In contrast to the standard scenario, the cored clumps should have been completely destroyed inside $\sim 20$~{kpc} from the Milky Way center. The dwarf spheroidals should not contain any dark matter clumps. On the other hand, even under the most pessimistic assumption about the clump structure, the clumps should have survived in the Milky Way at a distance exceeding $50$~{kpc} from the center, as well as in low-density cosmic structures. There they significantly boost the dark matter annihilation. Abstract: We suggest a possible mechanism of ultra diffuse galaxy formation: the UDGs may occur as a result of a central collision of galaxies. If the galaxies are young and contain a lot of gas, the collision may kick all the gas off the systems and thus strongly suppress any further star formation. As a result, the galaxies now have a very low surface brightness and other properties typical of the ultra diffuse galaxies. We use the Coma cluster (where numerous UDGs were recently discovered) to test the efficiency of the process. The mechanism works very well and can transform a significant fraction of the cluster population into ultra diffuse galaxies. The UDGs formed by the process concentrate towards the center of the cluster, and their globular cluster systems remain undamaged, in accordance with observational results. The projected surface density of UDGs in the cluster may help us to recognize the mechanism of UDG formation, or clarify relative contributions of several possible competitive mechanisms at work., Comment: 7 pages, accepted to New Astronomy

11. Interaction of clumpy dark matter with interstellar medium in astrophysical systems

Abstract: Contemporary cosmological conceptions suggest that the dark matter in haloes of galaxies and galaxy clusters has most likely a clumpy structure. If a stream of gas penetrates through it, a small-scale gravitational field created by the clumps disturbs the flow resulting in momentum exchange between the stream and the dark matter. In this article, we perform an analysis of this effect, based on the hierarchial halo model of the dark matter structure and Navarro-Frenk-White density profiles. We consider the clumps of various masses, from the smallest up to the highest ones $M\ge 10^{9} M_\odot$. It has been found that in any event the effect grows with the mass of the clump: not only the drag force $\mathfrak F$ acting on the clump, but also its acceleration $w=\mathfrak F/M$ increases. We discuss various astrophysical systems. The mechanism proved to be ineffective in the case of galaxy or galaxy cluster collisions. On the other hand, it played an important role during the process of galaxy formation. As a result, the dark matter should have formed a more compact, oblate, and faster rotating substructure in the halo of our Galaxy. We have shown that this thick disk should be more clumpy than the halo. This fact is very important for the indirect detection experiments since it is the clumps that give the main contribution to the annihilation signal. Our calculations show that the mechanism of momentum exchange between the dark and baryon matter is ineffective on the outskirts of the galactic halo. It means that the clumps from there were not transported to the thick disk, and this regions should be more clumpy than the halo on the average.

Abstract: The velocity distribution of the dark matter particles on the outskirts of the Solar system remains unclear. We suggest to determine it using experimentally found properties of the oldest halo objects. Indeed, the oldest halo stars and globular clusters form a collisionless system, as well as dark matter particles do, and they evolved in the same gravitational field. If we accept this analogy, we can show that the velocity distribution of the dark matter particles should be highly anisotropic and have a sharp maximum near υ∼ 500 km s−1. The distribution is totally different from the Maxwell one. We analyse the influence of the distribution function on the results of dark matter detection experiments. It is found that the direct detection signal should differ noticeably from the one calculated from the Maxwell distribution with 〈υ〉≃ 220 km s−1, which is conventional for direct detection experiments (the ratio depends on the detector properties and typically falls within the range between 6 and 0.2). Moreover, the sharp distinction from the Maxwell distribution can be very essential to the observations of dark matter annihilation.

13. Accretion of a massive magnetized torus on a rotating black hole

Abstract: We present numerical simulations of the axisymmetric accretion of a massive magnetized plasma torus on a rotating black hole. We use a realistic equation of state, which takes into account neutrino cooling and energy loss due to nucleus dissociations. We simulated various magnetic field configurations and torus models, both optically thick and thin for neutrinos. It is shown that the neutrino cooling does not significantly change either the structure of the accretion flow or the total energy release of the system. The calculations evidence heating of the wind surrounding the collapsar by the shock waves generated at the jet-wind border. This mechanism can give rise to a hot corona around the binary system like SS433. Angular momentum of the accreting matter defines the time scale of the accretion. Due to the absence of the magnetic dynamo in our calculations, the initial strength and topology of the magnetic field determines magnetization of the black hole, jet formation properties and the total energy yield. Abstract: Though a black hole can theoretically possess a very big charge ($Q/(\sqrt{G} M) \simeq 1$), the charge of the real astrophysical black holes is usually considered to be negligible. This supposition is based on the fact that an astrophysical black hole is always surrounded by some plasma, which is a very good conductor. However, it disregards that the black holes have usually some angular momentum, which can be interpreted as its rotation of a sort. If in the plasma surrounding the hole there is some magnetic field, it leads to the electric field creation and, consequently, to the charge separation. In this article we estimate the upper limit of the electric charge of stellar mass astrophysical black holes. We have considered a new black hole formation process and shown that the charge of a new-born black hole can be significant ($\sim 10^{13}$ {Coulombs}). Though the obtained charge of an astrophysical black hole is big, the charge to mass ratio is small $Q/(\sqrt{G} M) \sim 10^{-7}$, and it is not enough to affect significantly either the gravitational field of the star or the dynamics of its collapse., Comment: 11 pages, 1 figure, accepted to International Journal of Modern Physics D

Abstract: In this paper we consider dark matter particle annihilation in the gravitational field of black holes. We obtain exact distribution function of the infalling dark matter particles, and compute the resulting flux and spectra of gamma rays coming from the objects. It is shown that the dark matter density significantly increases near a black hole. Particle collision energy becomes very high affecting relative cross-sections of various annihilation channels. Abstract: The phase dependence of the spectral properties of the X-ray source 4U0115+63 is analzed based on X-ray observations obtained with the Beppo-Sax observatory. The spectrum contains a feature that is interpreted as a cyclotron absorption line. Deep lines of the first three orders were always observed, while the fourth-order line was detected only at certain phases. The parameters of the cyclotron feature depend strongly on the phase, while the remaining spectrum varies only relatively weakly with phase. The cyclotron lines of various orders are appreciably non-equidistant, and the second-order line is nearly always deeper than the first-order line. Possible physical conditions in the active region of the source that could give rise to the observed spectrum are discussed.

Abstract: The Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) is a new observatory for very high-energy (VHE) gamma rays. CTA has ambitions science goals, for which it is necessary to achieve full-sky coverage, to improve the sensitivity by about an order of magnitude, to span about four decades of energy, from a few tens of GeV to above 100 TeV with enhanced angular and energy resolutions over existing VHE gamma-ray observatories. An international collaboration has formed with more than 1000 members from 27 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and North and South America. In 2010 the CTA Consortium completed a Design Study and started a three-year Preparatory Phase which leads to production readiness of CTA in 2014. Abstract: We consider the reasons why a cuspy NFW-like profile persistently occurs in N-body simulations, in contradiction to some astronomical observations. The routine method of testing the convergence of N-body simulations (in particular, the negligibility of two-body scattering effect) is to find the conditions under which the shape of the formed structures is insensitive to numerical parameters. The results obtained with this approach suggest a surprisingly minor role of the particle collisions: the central density profile remains untouched and close to NFW, even if the simulation time significantly exceeds the collisional relaxation time $\tau_r$. We analyze the test body distribution in the halo center with help of the Fokker-Planck equation. It turns out that the Fokker-Planck diffusion transforms any reasonable initial distribution into NFW-like profile $\rho\propto r^{-1}$ in a time shorter than $\tau_r$. On the contrary, profile $\rho\propto r^{-1}$ should survive much longer, being a sort of attractor: the Fokker-Planck diffusion is self-compensated in this case. Thus the test body scattering may create a stable NFW-like pseudosolution that can be mixed up with the real convergence. Abstract: The spectrum of cyclotron radiation produced by electrons with a strongly anisotropic velocity distribution is calculated taking into account higher harmonics. The motion of the electrons is assumed to be ultrarelativistic along the magnetic field and nonrelativistic across the field. One characteristic feature of the resulting spectrum is that harmonics of various orders are not equally spaced. The physical properties and observed spectra of four X-ray pulsars displaying higher cyclotron harmonics are analyzed. The cyclotron features in the spectra of all four pulsars can be interpreted only as emission lines. Moreover, the observed harmonics are not equidistant, and display certain other properties characteristic of emission by strongly anisotropic ultrarelativistic electrons. In addition, there are indirect theoretical arguments that the electrons giving rise to cyclotron features in the spectra of X-ray pulsars are ultrarelativistic and characterized by strongly anisotropic distributions. Abstract: We show that moderate energy relaxation in the formation of dark matter halos invariably leads to profiles that match those observed in the central regions of galaxies. The density profile of the central region is universal and insensitive to either the seed perturbation shape or the details of the relaxation process. The profile has a central core; the multiplication of the central density by the core radius is almost independent of the halo mass, in accordance with observations. In the core area the density distribution behaves as an Einasto profile with low index ($n\sim 0.5$); it has an extensive region with $\rho\propto r^{-2}$ at larger distances. This is exactly the shape that observations suggest for the central region of galaxies. On the other hand, this shape does not fit the galaxy cluster profiles. A possible explanation of this fact is that the relaxation is violent in the case of galaxy clusters; however, it is not violent enough when galaxies or smaller dark matter structures are considered. Abstract: Recent astronomical data strongly suggest that a significant part of the dark matter, composing the Local Group and Virgo Supercluster, is not incorporated into the galaxy haloes and forms diffuse components of these galaxy clusters. Apparently, a portion of the particles from these components may penetrate into the Milky Way and make an extragalactic contribution to the total dark matter containment of our Galaxy. We find that the particles of the diffuse component of the Local Group are apt to contribute $\sim 12%$ to the total dark matter density near the Earth. The particles of the extragalactic dark matter stand out because of their high speed ($\sim 600$ {km/s}), i.e. they are much faster than the galactic dark matter. In addition, their speed distribution is very narrow ($\sim 20$ {km/s}). The particles have isotropic velocity distribution (perhaps, in contrast to the galactic dark matter). We obtain exact distribution function of the infalling dark matter particles, and compute the resulting flux and spectra of gamma rays coming from the objects. It is shown that the dark matter density significantly increases near a black hole. Particle collision energy becomes very high affecting relative cross‐sections of various annihilation channels. Abstract: We discuss the possibility to observe the products of dark matter annihilation that was going on in the early Universe. Of all the particles that could be generated by this process we consider only photons, as they are both uncharged and easily detectable. The earlier the Universe was, the higher the dark matter concentration $n$ and the annihilation rate (proportional to $n^2$) were. However, the emission from the very early Universe cannot reach us because of the opacity. The main part of the signal was generated at the moment the Universe had just become transparent for the photons produced by the annihilation. Thus, the dark matter annihilation in the early Universe should have created a sort of relic emission. We obtain its flux and the spectrum. If weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs) constitute dark matter, it is shown that we may expect an extragalactic gamma-ray signal in the energy range 0.5 - 20 {MeV} with a maximum near 8 {MeV}. We show that an experimentally observed excess in the gamma-ray background at 0.5 - 20 {MeV} could be created by the relic WIMPs annihilation only if the dark matter structures in the universe had appeared before the universe became transparent for the annihilation products ($z \simeq 300$). Abstract: While N-body simulations testify for a cuspy profile of the central region of the dark matter haloes, observations favor a shallow, cored density profile of the central region of, at least, some spiral galaxies and dwarf spheroidals. We show that a central profile, very close to the observed one, inevitably forms in the center of dark matter haloes if we make a supposition about a moderate energy relaxation of the system during the halo formation. If we assume the energy exchange between dark matter particles during the halo collapse to be not too intensive, the profile is universal: it depends almost not at all on the properties of the initial perturbation and is very akin, but not identical, to the Einasto profile with small Einasto index $n\sim 0.5$. We estimate the size of the 'central core' of the distribution, i.e., the extent of the very central region with a respectively gentle profile, and show that the cusp formation is unlikely, even if the dark matter is cold. 28. Principal properties of the velocity distribution of dark matter particles near the Solar System

Abstract: The velocity distribution of the dark matter particles on the outskirts of the Solar System remains unclear. We suggest to determine it using experimentally found properties of the oldest halo objects. Indeed, the oldest halo stars and globular clusters form a collisionless system, as well as dark matter particles do, and they evolved in the same gravitational field. If we accept this analogy, we can show that the velocity distribution of the dark matter particles should be highly anisotropic and have a sharp maximum near $\upsilon\sim 500$ {km/s}. The distribution is totally different from the Maxwell one. We analyze the influence of the distribution function on the results of dark matter detection experiments. It is found that the direct detection signal should differ noticeably from the one calculated from the Maxwell distribution with $ \simeq 220$ {km/s}, which is conventional for direct detection experiments (the ratio depends on the detector properties and typically falls within the range between 6 and 0.2). 29. Phantom dark energy and the steady state 'on the average' universe

Abstract: We consider the hypothesis that the dark energy pervading our universe is phantom (?p < ?). The density of such a substance grows with the cosmological expansion and may become infinite in a finite time producing a Big Rip. In this report we analyze the late stages of the universe evolution and demonstrate that the presence of the phantom energy in the universe is not enough in itself to produce the Big Rip. This singularity occurrence requires the fulfillment of some additional, rather strong conditions. A more probable outcome of the cosmological evolution is the decay of the phantom field into 'normal' matter. The second, more intriguing consequence of the presence of the phantom field is the possibility to introduce a cosmological scenario that does not contain a Big Bang. In the framework of this model the universe eternally expands, while its density and other physical parameters oscillate over a wide range, never reaching the Plank values. Thus, the universe evolution has no singularities at all.

30. Relic signal produced by the annihilation of dark matter particles

Abstract: We discuss the possibility to observe the products of dark matter annihilation that was going on in the early Universe. Of all the particles that could be generated by this process we consider only photons, as they are both uncharged and easily detectable. The earlier the Universe was, the higher the dark matter concentration n and the annihilation rate (proportional to n2) were. However, the emission from the very early Universe cannot reach us because of the opacity. The main part of the signal was generated at the moment the Universe had just become transparent for the photons produced by the annihilation. Thus, the dark matter annihilation in the early Universe should have created a sort of relic emission. We obtain its flux and the spectrum. In the second part of the article we consider in greater detail the instance the dark matter is constituted by Weakly Interacting Massive Particles (WIMPs), which is one of the most popular hypotheses. It is shown that in this case we may expect an extragalactic gamma-ray signal in the energy range 0.5 – 20 MeV with a maximum near 8 MeV and there is evidence that an experimentally observed excess in the gamma-ray background at 0.5 – 20 MeV is created by the relic WIMP annihilation.

Abstract: In a theoretical study of turbulent burning it is usually assumed that the average rate of the chemical reaction (heat release) is determined only by the average temperature. Ya. B. Zel'dovich [1] and later T. Karman [2] noted the necessity of taking into account the effect of temperature pulsations on the reaction rate. A quantitative estimate of this effect on the reaction rate constant is given in [3]. A critical analysis of various approaches to the theoretical study of turbulent flames is given in the reviews [4, 5]. In the present article, it is shown that, taking the pulsation component of the temperature and concentration into account, the average rate of the chemical reaction depends on the gradient of the mean temperature and the scale of the turbulent pulsations. The case, where a first-order reaction takes place in the flame is studied in detail. Existence and uniqueness theorems which determine the limits of the propagation of flames are proven. Quantitative rules for the propagation rate, limit, and structure of a turbulent flame front are analyzed with respect to the results of a numerical calculation of a series of variants. Dimensional interpolation equations are presented for the total propagation rate of a flame.

Abstract: On the most general assumptions (taking account of the Lewis-Semenov number, thermal expansion, variability of thermophysical parameters, etc.), analytical estimates are obtained for the normal velocities of combustion of laminar and turbulent flames. In the case of an Arrhenius dependence of the reaction velocity on the temperature, the combustion velocity is represented by an asymptotic series with respect to the Frank-Kamenetskii dimensionless temperature; for turbulent flames, with respect to a parameter of the relative scale of turbulence. The final results over a wide range of change of parameters are compared with a numerical calculation on a computer of the exact equations and with the relations obtained by the method of combined asymptotic expansions.

Abstract: The results of measuring the velocity profiles in the initial section of mixing of turbulent wakes of an electrically conducting fluid in a longitudinal magnetic field are presented. It is shown that the magnetic field has a substantial effect on the jet; it narrows the width of the mixing zone and increases the length of the initial section in comparison with the case of the absence of a magnetic field. The results obtained indicate that the velocity profiles in the mixing layer during flow in a longitudinal magnetic field are self-preserving. The function Ψ taking into account the effect of the magnetic field in the expression for eddy stresses is determined on the basis of the experimental data. The width of the mixing zone during flow of wakes in the initial section in a longitudinal magnetic field was calculated with the use of the dependence obtained for ψ. The calculation results are compared with experimental data.
