A burgeoning corpus of scholarly inquiry indicates that engagement in physical activity among children yields a plethora of advantageous outcomes, including enhanced cardiorespiratory endurance, improved academic performance, augmented cognitive functioning, as well as advancements in social and psychological well-being. Given that students participate in schooling for up to 200 days per annum, physical education (PE) possesses the potential to substantially influence the physiological and cognitive maturation of school-aged children through purposeful pedagogical practices. The notion of quality physical education (QPE), whose paramount objective is the cultivation of physical literacy, represents a critical element in the facilitation of both physiological and cognitive growth in children. Consequently, the objective of this investigation was to examine the ramifications of a continuing professional development program on educators' self-efficacy and, in turn, on their students' physical fitness and educational outcomes. The inquiry was conducted over a 32-week span during which teachers and students participated in a continuing professional development training (CPD) intervention and a physical literacy (PL) program, respectively. At both the initiation and conclusion of the intervention programs, a comprehensive series of standardized assessments were administered, including the Motorfit battery, Spirometry, Physical Education Teaching Efficacy Scale (PETES), and Amos 8–15. As a consequence, a significant Time × Group interaction effect for the Motorfit battery, Spirometry, PETES, and Amos 8–15 was identified. This finding suggests a meaningful improvement in the treatment groups (p < 0.001). Conversely, no notable alterations were recorded within the comparison groups. The outcomes of this research reinforce the assertion that exemplary instruction in physical education exerts a profound influence on the physiological well-being and academic achievements of students. Purpose. Numerous studies suggest that specialized respiratory muscle training can enhance physical capacity, pulmonary function, and athletic performance, particularly in soccer players. Due to the significant influence of respiratory muscle performance on exercise capability and cardiopulmonary reaction to physical activity, systematic conditioning and assessment of respiratory muscle performance ought to be contemplated in athletes. Therefore, this research aimed to determine whether intermittent resistance training could improve the endurance capabilities of amateur soccer players involved in competitive recreational soccer. Methods.The study involved twenty (n = 20) senior soccer players (mean age 41.2 ± 3.1 years) participating in competitive amateur soccer. The participants were divided into two groups, each subjected to different levels of resistance during both training sessions and matches, while all participants possessed standard medical and fitness parameters. The soccer participants were divided into two categories (Control Group A and Experimental Group B with lower resistance levels), ensuring regular attendance at prescribed weekly training sessions and additional sessions over a six-month period. A standardized assessment motor test (Cooper test), and Spirometry were administered at baseline and after training. Results. The processed data enabled the determination of VO2max, considering the mixed energy expenditure characteristics of football. A significant portion of the team (65%) exhibited inadequate performance in terms of fatigue resistance, potentially linked to an incomplete 12-minute test. This underscores the necessity for enhancing endurance and stamina. Conclusions. The present investigation offers evidence that supports a positive correlation between physiological performance and the impact of resistance training in amateur senior soccer players. Sports performance tracking has gained a lot of interest and widespread use in recent years, especially in elite and sub-elite sports. This makes it possible to improve the effectiveness of training, to calibrate and balance workloads according to real energy expenditure, and to reduce the likelihood of injuries due to excessive physical stress. In this context, the aim of this review was to map the scientific literature on wearable devices used in field hockey, evaluating their characteristics and the available evidence on their validity in measuring physiological and movement parameters. A systematic investigation was carried out by employing five electronic databases and search terms that incorporated field hockey, wearables, and performance analysis. Two independent reviewers conducted assessments of the 3401 titles and abstracts for inclusion, and at the end of the screening process, 102 full texts were analyzed. Lastly, a total of 23 research articles that specifically concentrated on field hockey were incorporated. The selected papers dealt with performance monitoring (6 papers), technical analysis and strategy game (6), injury prevention (1), and physiological measurements (10). To appraise the quality of the evaluations, the Oxford quality scoring system scale was employed. The extraction of information was carried out through the utilization of the participants, intervention, comparison, and outcomes (PICOS) format. The analysis encompassed research studies that implemented wearable devices during training and competitive events. Among elite field hockey competitions, GPS units were identified as the predominant wearable, followed by heart rate monitors. The intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) related to wearable devices showed reasonably high between-trial ICCs ranging from 0.77 to 0.99. The utilization of wearable devices in field hockey primarily centers around the measurement of player activity profiles and physiological demands. The presence of discrepancies in sampling rates and performance bands makes it arduous to draw comparisons between studies. Schools represent the ideal setting for educating children about the acquisition of active lifestyles seen not only from a health point of view but also from psycho-pedagogical and social perspectives. Based on evidence from scientific literature, there is a need to include physical activity in school routines, especially in primary schools, where the habits learned by children stay with them in their later years and adulthood. With the support of the school medicine service, schools become a favorable context for planning health education sessions aimed at students, with particular reference to prevention. Within teaching, it is necessary to consider the motor area as a fundamental tool for acquiring correct lifestyles, facilitating cognitive development, inclusiveness, and psycho-emotional and socio-relational factors. Schools can play a fundamental role, becoming the key to promoting physical activity at different times of the day, such as during class hours (with active breaks), during breaks, before and after lessons, and by integrating movement into teaching. This review is the result of an in-depth overview of the available literature on the relationship of schools with health and health promotion from a preventive perspective, with awareness of how the issue is being approached and the need for further future reflections that will go hand in hand with the coming changes.
