He happened upon a 1900s photograph of two men playing golf with their horses nearby and was inspired to begin humorous paintings of cowboys playing golf. "America's cowboy artist, Charles M. Russell, lived the life he recorded in his art", says the museum's executive director Tom Figarelle.
