The issue of locality emerged in line with the 1998 reform movement, one of which demanded decentralization of development, including culture. The local identity of the Cepu community is important in this study. Talking about Cepu City cannot be separated from the Islamic Sultanate of Demak, Sunan Kudus, and Arya Penangsang. Arya Penangsang is the grandson of Raden Patah (founder of the Islamic Sultanate of Demak), Sunan Kudus's favorite religious and intelligent student. He is also the Duke of Jipang (Cepu of the past) who is known to be wise, brave, and a staunch Muslim. However, Cepu is an old city that historically has always been defeated, especially after the collapse of the Islamic Sultanate of Demak which was replaced by Javanese rulers in Pajang and Mataram. In the coastal areas he was known as the prince of the last heir to the Islamic Sultanate of Demak who was killed dramatically. The representation of Cepu's local identity comes through the figure of Arya Penangsang and efforts to revitalize the past glory of Jipang Kadipaten as a means of articulation. Interestingly, Arya Penangsang is a figure whom the rulers and most of the Javanese people regard as an evil, cruel, and power-hungry rebel. Thus, efforts to represent the local identity of the Cepu community clash with the dominant discourse of Javanese society in general. Using the ethnographic method, this article aims to express the love of the Cepu people towards Arya Penangsang and the Kadipaten Jipang. The results of this study will explain how Arya Penangsang and the past glory of the Kadipaten Jipang have been awakened in the collective memory of the Cepu people. Arya Penangsang and the Kadipaten Jipang are currently constructed as local heroes in discourses on the revitalization of Cepu City. The results of this study contribute to become a model for the revitalization of other cities that have the same issue.

This paper deals with the processes of transformation of an urban festival – the Radvaň Fair in the city of Banská Bystrica, Slovakia – in a comprehensive way and from a chronological point of view. The main focus is on the development of the festival in the post-1989 (post-communist) period. The fair has been organized continuously since 1655 and went through a number of transformations. Its function has changed from a primarily commercial event of three centuries to a significant cultural and social hallmark festival in the 21st century. The key research questions concern the role of cultural heritage-based festival in identity building and city marketing, and the relationship between the festival and place (location). The paper also addresses the question of potential use/misuse of cultural heritage in current political discourse and practice., Ovaj se rad bavi procesima transformacije urbanog festivala – sajma Radvaň u gradu Banská Bystrica u Slovačkoj – na sveobuhvatan način i iz kronološke perspektive. Glavni je fokus na razvoju festivala u postkomunističkom razdoblju nakon 1989. godine. Sajam se održava bez prekida od 1655. godine te je prošao kroz nekoliko transformacija. Njegova se funkcija promijenila od prvenstveno komercijalne, koju je imao tijekom tri stoljeća, do značajnog kulturno-društvenog događaja u 21. stoljeću. Glavna istraživačka pitanja vezana su uz ulogu tog festivala utemeljenog na kulturnoj baštini u izgradnji identiteta i promidžbi grada, kao i odnos između festivala i mjesta (lokacije). U radu se također obrađuje pitanje potencijalnog korištenja/zlouporabe kulturne baštine u trenutnom političkom diskursu i praksi.

La televisión de proximidad son medios de comunicación llamados a apoyar el acceso a la información y puesta en valor de los territorios, buscan representar en sus contenidos a un público local, rescatar su identidad y contrarrestar el monopolio informativo que ejercen las cadenas nacionales. El presente trabajo tiene por objetivo analizar los desafíos de la televisión de proximidad en la Región de Coquimbo, norte de Chile. Analizar su estructura, funcionamiento y sistema de producción de contenidos, en un contexto particular de transición tecnológica por el que atraviesa el país. Después de un catastro que permitió saber el número de canales que estaban al aire a la fecha de la investigación, se utilizó una metodología mixta compuesta por un análisis documental y entrevistas a los productores y encargados de contenido de cada canal -seis medios que corresponden al cien por ciento del universo- para luego aplicar un cuestionario al personal de producción de las televisoras. Entre los resultados destaca que las televisoras de proximidad operan con un mínimo de recursos humanos y económicos. Que cuentan con un apoyo nulo o derechamente inalcanzable para la mayoría de los canales. Su escaso financiamiento publicitario impide mejorar la calidad de los contenidos, como también su periodicidad y cantidad. Pese a estas dificultades y al escaso apoyo desde las políticas públicas gubernamentales, estos medios son indispensables para cautelar la cultura e identidad local y colocar en la agenda temas y problemas que de otra manera no serían atendidos por las autoridades centrales.

Globalization as a system of the modern society might not really be a bad thing in itself, however the articulation of this reality in manners that continue to create social, religious and ethnic inequality will always make globalization a suspicious reality. The contrasting social, cultural, economic, ethnic or political differences is an element of globalization that can create harmony in diversity. Globalization certainly pulls some power away from the nation but at the same time it pushes down and creates new forces for local identity. This study examines ethnic and cultural resistance to the rise and spread of globalization in Nigeria. One feature that has made the global wave suspicious is its inability to deliver its economic benefits to all. The findings of the study revealed that every community desires social and community development with good infrastructure and humane serenity. The study concludes that until this issues are looked at and globalization from above embraces and make room for globalization from below, favouring no group, religion, political party, race, culture, nation or continent; globalization will continue to experience resistance from various quarters. Based on the findings, the study recommends the need to create common level ground for all citizens of Nigeria irrespective of tribe or religion and the National orientation agency of Nigeria to make plans aimed at re-orienting the populace towards accepting the new normal of living in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic and multi-religious society.

The publication is devoted to the influence of digital competencies of local council deputies on the formation of the local identity of united territorial communities. It is concluded that in the conditions of digitalization of public administration it is necessary to talk about the formation of virtual social identity of territorial communities as part of their local identity. The question of influence of deputies on processes of their formation is considered. Proposals for the inclusion of digital competencies in the structure of integrated competence of local council deputies have been developed.

The development of place branding has increased in various parts of the world. Competition in attracting investment, tourists, and other resources encourages city managers to think hard in order to be able to sell their potentials and uniqueness. Local identity is considered as one of the uniqueness that may attract people and money. This study will focus on the extent to which local characteristics and culture of the local community are considered in the formation of the city identity. The study undertook a content analysis of around thirty literature of city branding development in Indonesia, both national and international journals, to gain insight into the particular issue. The results of the study show that the imagery of cities in Indonesia is generally still limited to the formation of slogans and logos, which pay little attention to the cultural elements and aspirations of the local community. As a result, several cities had to replace their slogan and logo within a few years due to public criticism.

This article analyses the national discourse of Spanish socialism during the Second Republic and seeks to emphasise the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party’s identification with a Spanish national identity. Furthermore, by considering the case of the Valencian Region (País Valenciano), it points to ways in which that identity was expressed, showing the role of the local and regional spheres in the socialist interpretation of national identity. In this way, the Valencian example enables us to explore the situation “from below”, by studying political approaches, speeches, rites and prac­tices in the militant press. The article argues that the national discourse of Spanish socialism found a solid bond in the local context, while proletar­ian internationalism projected national identification towards the whole of Humanity. Despite the prominence of the local, national and interna­tional dimensions, the regional aspect appears more blurred in the Valen­cian case. In this regard, socialism provided a coherent framework for the combination of social, political and territorial identities., Este artículo analiza el discurso nacional del socialismo español durante la Segunda República. Su objetivo consiste en insistir en la identificación nacional española del Partido Socialista Obrero Español. Pero, además, mediante el enfoque en el caso del País Valenciano, se señalan algunos canales de expresión de aquella identificación: el local y regional. Es decir, se busca mostrar el rol del ámbito local y del regional en la inter­pretación de la identidad nacional del socialismo. De este modo, el caso valenciano sirve para un acercamiento «desde abajo», mediante el estudio de los planteamientos políticos, discursos, ritos y prácticas contenidos en la prensa militante de la época. Según se argumenta, el discurso nacional español socialista encontró en el espacio local un firme punto de engarce, mientras que el internacionalismo prole­tario proyectaba la identificación nacional hacia el conjunto de la huma­nidad. Si lo local, nacional e internacional fueron ejes destacados, el espacio regional aparece más difuminado en el caso valenciano. Con ello, el socialismo iba diseñando un marco coherente para la combinación de identidades sociales, políticas y territoriales.

Why, after years of restrictive regulation of street vending, and food vending in particular, have cities across North America welcomed new food carts and trucks? In this article I draw on a case study of Vancouver, Canada, to demonstrate the important effect of ideas about food on the regulatory and policy changes that have allowed food carts and trucks to proliferate. In particular, new cultural discourses have imbued food with a multivalent goodness. This goodness is understood to have the capacity to do good in the city by bringing good urban places into being. While these discourses favour the tastes of the privileged, ideas about ‘good’ food expand beyond the ‘gourmet’ to embrace health, environment, economy, cultural diversity and creativity, as well as community building, local identity and visions of vibrant, shared public spaces. The proliferation of discourses about ‘good food’ has produced a potent set of cultural ideas that animates popular and policy discussions about street food in the city; in Vancouver, these ideas provided the impetus to push for regulatory change and generated consensus around new, less restrictive regulation of food vending on streets and sidewalks.

El estudio de las localidades ha sido un tema recurrente en antropologia. Desde sus inicios, con focos en diferentes aspectos de la organizacion social, etnografos de distintas latitudes han realizado sus estudios buscando comprender las formas de vida que se producen en contextos locales. Por su parte, las investigaciones sobre identidades colectivas adquieren cada vez mayor importancia en un mundo donde los Estados-nacion paulatinamente han perdido relevancia como referentes de adscripciones identitarias. En este trabajo, Jaro Stacul presenta un analisis sobre localismo e identidad local en un valle de los Alpes italianos hacia finales del siglo XX, motivo por el cual —a pesar de los importantes cambios que ha experimentado la antropologia tanto en sus metodologias como en sus objetos de estudio—- el texto puede entenderse como un ejemplo de la vigencia de esta larga tradicion etnografica, centrada en las comunidades locales y el creciente interes en las fricciones generadas por conflictos identitarios.

Globalisation is considered to be a defining phenomenon for the present society having a decisive impact in the outlining and evolution of local identiy elements. The main purpose of the study is to localise, record and analyse the cellars found in Sălacea in order to preserve, promote and profit from their use in tourism. The methods used were the study of the speciality literature and onsite visits. Therefore, a series of specific software programs were used, the results having created a digital data base which may be considered as an informational support for other scientific procedures, including the identification of a series of opportunities for local development.

Food products are used to protect and promote the local identity as a source of knowledge. In the Vall de Camprodon, trumfa (a variety of Kennebec potato) has been grown from ancient times as a subsistence product. In recent years, and thanks to the combined efforts of public and private stakeholders in the region, the trumfa has become one of the most iconic products of food tourism in the Vall de Camprodon. Using a qualitative design and from a local point of view, the article aims to analyse the revaluation processes of the trumfa in order to describe its role within the cultural and social development of a community. Women’s involvement in politics is a complex and multidimensional phenomenon in Romania,following very contradictory and sinuous trends: starting from a high rate of female participation in the political life during the Communism (only as representatives, but not as decision-makers), to an abrupt drop in the 1990s,when politics was male-dom inated, to, finally, a rise of female presence in this field, especially when Romania joined EU. Given these premises, the study aims to offer an overview on women’s representation in politics at local level, for the 2016 elections, and to understand if there is a connection between the local identity of a future female candidate within the community and her success during the electoral campaign; we have tried to identify the key elements, if any, for a greater presence of women in the politics and if any gender stereotypes are manifested in the studied rural communities; estimating the Romania’s probability to have, in the more or less distant future, a greater presence of women in political life, both in urban and rural areas.

Society changes with the addition of new members. Different generations have distinct historical experiences, which may shape their political stance across a spectrum of attitudes and behaviors. This symposium includes four articles analyzing generational politics in Taiwan and Hong Kong. The studies show that there are behavioral and attitudinal differences between the young and the old in both places. As overall voter turnout has declined in Taiwan, youth turnout has declined even more. In particular, the “China factor” is the main driving force to the younger generations’ political activism. Youths in both Taiwan and Hong Kong exhibit a strong local identity that differentiates them from the Chinese. The stronger the identity is, the more politically active they are.

La política cultural ha estado vinculada a lo lar-go de estos cuarenta años en España a poner en valor la identidad local y la democratización de la cultura en los barrios y territorios sin renunciar a la universalidad de las formas de expresión cultural y creativa. Desde finales del siglo XX y, sobre todo, en estas primeras décadas del siglo XXI asistimos sin embargo a la globalización de los territorios, de los conflictos y de las identidades. La política cultural local necesita tener sus referentes hoy en los derechos fundamentales. El desarrollo del derecho a participar en la vida cultural corre paralelo a las reivindicaciones feministas y a la urgencia de la crisis ecológica, dos paradigmas que se entrecruzan en nuestros municipios y regiones. The emergence of the self-proclaimed Islamic State (al-Dawla al-Islāmiyya) over large swaths of the Syrian and Iraqi territories brought back to the fore the importance of the area, transforming it into the ‘launching pad’ of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi’s (ʾAbū Bakr al-Baghdādi) project aimed at overcoming the ‘Sykes-Picot legacy’ and at redefining the whole international order.

Este trabalho analisa os impactos no comércio local de Chaves do Caminho Português Interior a Santiago (CPIS). Com base no questionário elaborado ao efeito e passado a um conjunto representativo de comerciantes do setor da hotelaria e restauração com sede nas freguesias urbanas desta cidade portuguesa atravessadas pelo CPIS, foram focados os âmbitos, frequências e línguas de interação entre pessoas peregrinas e comerciantes locais; a demanda e a procura de serviços; a perceção das políticas de promoção, acolhimento e aproveitamento promovidas desde as instituições públicas portuguesas; e a posição atribuída por esta população ao Caminho na identidade da cidade. Os dados apontam para a unanimidade no entendimento dos benefícios do Caminho para o comércio local, ao tempo que se verifica o desfasamento entre o impacto real na economia de Chaves da passagem das pessoas peregrinas e aquele sentido pelos agentes vinculados ao setor comercial da cidade. Igualmente, verifica-se uma escassa interação entre comerciantes e pessoas peregrinas (veiculada esta, de regra, em português) traduzindo-se isto num impacto quase nulo no quotidiano do comércio local, facto que exclui a hipótese da gentrificação comercial para a tipologia de negócio analisado. Por último, demonstra-se ainda a irrelevância do CPIS na Perceção e Realidade dos Impactos do Caminho Português Interior a Santiago na atividade comercial da cidade de Chaves: Análise sobre parâmetros da economia, a interação, a identidade local e as políticas públicas, This paper analyses the impact of the Portuguese Way (Caminho Português Interior a Santiago – CPIS) on local businesses in the city of Chaves. A questionnaire on the subject was created and distributed to a representative group of hotel and restaurant traders in areas of Chaves along the route. Respondents were surveyed on four parameters: the context, frequency and languages of interaction between pilgrims and local traders; the availability of and demand for services; traders’ perception of the promotion, reception and capitalisation policies promoted by local and state institutions; and the perceived importance of the route for the city’s identity. The results reveal a unanimously positive response regarding the beneficial effects of the pilgrimage on local business, despite data to the contrary regarding the real impact on of the presence of pilgrims on the city’s economy. The data show limited interaction between traders and pilgrims (usually in Portuguese), resulting in virtually zero day-to-day impact on local businesses. Članek tematizira podobo balkanskega človeka barbarogenija, kot jo zasnuje eden od osrednjih predstavnikov jugoslovanske avantgarde Ljubomir Micić. Ideji barbara-genija in balkanizacije/barbarizacije Evrope se razvijeta v reviji Zenit, prav tako pa sta zastopani v Micićevi poeziji in prozi (roman Barbarogenij Decivilizator). Podobne sintagme najdemo tudi pri Srečku Kosovelu in akterjih ljubljanske revije Tank. Le-te kažejo na oblikovanje posebne lokalne identitete, ki vzpostavlja tudi nacionalni kontekst njihovega dela. S tem pa pričajo tudi o izvirni misli in umetnostno-zgodovinski specifiki jugoslovanske avantgardne struje, povezane s specifičnimi družbeno-političnimi dogodki v prvih desetletjih 20. stoletja. Funkcija avantgardističnega vračanja k nacionalnim koreninam je sprevračanje hierarhiziranega razmerja do Zahoda z radikalno avtostereotipizacijo. Tako internacionalizacija/kozmopolitskost kot radikalno izpostavljanje nacionalnih karakteristik se kažeta kot strategiji za transgresijo identitet in vzpostavljanje Balkana kot pluralne kulturne identitete s svojo ustvarjalno močjo znotraj jugoslovanske avantgarde.

Lebanon is a country with a complex multitude of historical events, a conflicting built environment and a wide range of specimen architectural projects and memorial structures that only partially reflected the intricate complexity of the country. Recently Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, has undergone several stages of profound transformations and urban expansions between 1840 and 1920, after the civil war (1975-1990) which was generated by many intricate dimensions, a vast rural to urban migration brought to Beirut, a numerous population in search of job opportunities. During the reconstruction, Beirut faced unprecedented economic growth and started to be recognized as an emerging city subjected to all the influences of the world globalization. Recently an evident conflict started to afflict the direction of the country development due to the urgent need to start recognizing the values of the neglected heritage that have been affected by massive demolition and abandonment. The debate between the construction of a contemporary global city with a post-modern identity, represented by innovative architecture and the need to preserve the national architecture and landscape, have generated numerous contrasting opinion in the cultural scene. In the debate between innovation and tradition, this article presents a comparative analysis of two reconstruction projects recently concluded in Lebanon. The aim is to highlight some fundamental problems that need to be considered to enhance processes that affect the urban development of the country.

The existing transdisciplinary research scholarship contains numerous examples of how political contestations and uneven power relations present challenges for researchers. However, the scholarship examining ways of managing power relations within transdisciplinary research remains limited. In addition, almost all the current scholarship focuses upon the different forms of power-related conflicts that manifest during the active phase of a research project, such as during knowledge integration and solution development activities. The connection between weather-related knowledge and local identity was deeply embedded in local society but could not be fully accessed by the researcher on the basis of the secondary information available about the project sites, which was used to design the initial project plan. This chapter reveals how failure to consider how political processes and uneven power relations between stakeholders in the original research design led to a failure to secure the willingness of community members to participate in the proposed project activities.

La necesidad de caracterizar y evaluar nuestros paisajes con vistas a establecer una politica territorial que asegure su transformacion sostenible se esta consolidando como un escenario fun-damental desde donde reforzar la identidad y la economia local. Sin embargo, los resultados de esa carac-terizacion y consecuente diagnostico del paisaje estan encontrando dificultades a la hora de implementar-se en el planeamiento territorial. El objetivo del texto es contextualizar y argumentar la potencialidad de los indicadores de paisaje como linea de investigacion pertinente en ese debate cientifico-tecnico abierto English: In the course of the last century, the concept of landscape has experienced a deep renovation whose standpoints necessarily lead to an upgrading effort in territorial governance. The need of assessing the character of our landscapes in the pursuit of a territorial policy that guarantees the maintenance and promotion of their intrinsic values is proving to be a fundamental driver for strengthening local identity and economy. However, the results of landscape character assessments are facing difficulties to be implemen-ted in the regular territorial planning. The goal of the text is to contextualize and argue the potential of landscape indicators as a relevant research line in this open scientific-technical debate.

Algunas de estas comunidades al perder el sentido de la raiz socio-productiva de sus manifestaciones tambien sufren la desarticulacion de su identidad. Paradojicamente, la comunidad andina de Mosquey, al verse presionada a pasar de rural a urbana en menos de treinta anos, no solo ha innovado una festividad con prestamos culturales de otras localidades, sino que las puede estar usando como sujecion de una identidad local y una forma de resistencia a los disenos globales del sistema-mundo moderno; de este modo, abre un horizonte de estudio para los investigadores sociales criticos. EnglishThe peasant communities are invisible and subalternized, nevertheless, they have known how to consciously conceal first, and then unconsciously, their epistemes and subjectivities in their syncretic religious artistic manifestations. The innovation of these traditions can also be considered a border thinking because of its history of dialogue and survival with modern institutions. Some of these communities, by losing the sense of the socio-productive root of their manifestations, also suffer the disarticulation of their identity. Paradoxically, the andean community of Mosquey, when being pressured to move from rural to urban in less than thirty years, has not only innovated a festivity with cultural loans from other localities, but may be using them as a subjection of a local identity and a form of resistance to the global designs of the modern world-system; in this way, it opens a study horizon for critical social researchers.

During the last decades, citizenship education has become a key priority, as it is one of the main concerns for governments and international organizations. Since 2004, the European Commission has been developing several programmes and projects with the aim of disseminating democratic values and raising awareness of the power of education and its role in the creation of democratic and participative citizenship. In light of this, heritage education, as one of the main dimensions of citizenship education, plays a key role in building a local identity to confront the challenges of global citizenship. The main aim of this study is exploring the conceptions that future secondary education teachers have regarding citizenship, democracy and heritage as well as identifying the relationships between education and the training they have received as future teachers.

In this paper, we examine the use of enterprise language and the promotion of enterprise in Dutch urban policy focusing specifically on how Dutch cities use enterprise language to influence and encourage their inhabitants to undertake entrepreneurial action. Our analysis shows how the language of enterprise helps cities to reinforce a local identity, to legitimize institutional change in local government functioning and to formulate expectations of how citizens (and professionals) should behave. This paper analyses the planning implementation conducted by the Lombardy Region, in two different inter-municipal realities, as a useful example in a local context: the Area Regional Territorial Plan Alpine Valleys and the Area Regional Territorial Plan of the Franciacorta geographical area. These two complex experiences suggest positive conditions for the implementation of policies of Urban-Rural/Mountain partnerships to reach common goals and enhance urban-rural relationships, and complex institutional/administrative frameworks for activating multi-level governance processes.

Los territorios de interior que poseen un importante patrimonio cultural en fase de destrucción tienen la oportunidad de restaurarlo y rehabilitarlo, poniéndolo en valor turístico. De esta manera, no solamente reafirman el sentimiento de identidad local y promocionan su cultura sino que también ayudan a su desarrollo económico, recibiendo nuevos visitantes, ávidos de consumir cultura e historia, y que, no solamente redescubren estos conjuntos monumentales, habiéndose informado previamente de las principales características de la visita, sino que, además, efectúan otros gastos adicionales en sus alrededores, lo que permite crear nuevos puestos de trabajo y mejorar la renta personal de la comunidad local. En este trabajo se analiza la evolución de la cantidad anual de visitantes recibidos en los últimos quince años en tres complejos religiosos que sufrieron su abandono y destrucción a partir de la desamortización de Mendizábal, y cuya restauración y puesta a punto ha permitido situarlos dentro del circuito turístico y cultural de los monasterios catalanes. Para ello se ha utilizado una serie de datos estadísticos oficiales y descriptivos; así como los resultados de una encuesta personal realizada al azar a los visitantes de estos monumentos, confirmando que manifiestan un alto grado de satisfacción con la visita y que están dispuestos a repetirla o, al menos, promocionarla. Inland territories with an important cultural heritage but which are in the process of deterioration have the opportunity to restore and rehabilitate this heritage, enhancing its tourism value. In this way, not only do they reinforce the feeling of local identity and promote their culture but also help their economic development, receiving new visitors, eager to consume culture and history. As well as rediscovering these monumental groups, having previously been informed of the main characteristics of the visit, these visitors also make other additional expenditures in the surrounding areas. This creates new jobs and improves the personal income of the local community. This study analyses the evolution of the annual number of visitors received over the last fifteen years in three religious complexes that had been abandoned and destroyed after the Mendizábal disentailment law. Their restoration has positioned them within the tourist and cultural circuit of the Catalan monasteries. A series of official and descriptive statistical data has been used for the analysis, together with the results of a random personal survey of visitors to these monuments. The results of this survey confirm a high degree of satisfaction with the visit and the willingness of the visitors to return or at least promote it.

This book is the result of a research project designed and carried out at the Department of Architecture, University of Florence. This research was based on the transfer of knowledge from members of the Albanian Diaspora in Italy (university students, young architects and researchers) to their home country. This unique process blazed a trail in the Albania-related studies by creating a methodology, which could be replicated not only in Albanian rural contexts, but also elsewhere. The book constitutes a structured tool for generating sustainable and socially inclusive territorial development processes in five lesser-known Albanian cultural sites. Their tangible and intangible cultural heritage was seen as a driving factor for triggering development processes aimed at improving the inhabitants’ quality of life and strengthening local identity and social networks. Through concrete proposals and strategies, the book offers scenarios and solutions capable of enhancing the potential of each village and, at the same time, counteracting the effects of land abandonment that so often characterise them.

The chapter analyses the secessionist sentiments in the Italian port city of Trieste. The secessionist tendencies in Trieste are long-standing. The recent spike in the secessionist sentiments are, nonetheless, not only another chapter in the long-lasting story of the emancipation of the local identity. Maybe, it could also reflects the attempts of the Russian government to destabilize the EU countries.
