A facile and effective multifunctional platform with high bacterial detection sensitivity, good antibacterial activity, and excellent dye decomposition efficiency holds great promise for wastewater treatment. To explore the design rationality and mechanism of material platforms with various integrated components into a single molecule for wastewater treatment applications, herein, four kinds of polyelectrolyte photosensitizers with aggregation-induced emission (AIE) fluorescent units are synthesized and systematically studied to investigate the structure-property relationship that influences the level of conjugation and the hydrophobicity-hydrophilicity balance. By improving the strength of the conjugation, the new AIE photosensitizers DBPVEs (including DBPVE-4 and DBPVE-6) generate a reactive oxygen species (ROS), and a decomposition efficiency of around 55% is obtained for dyes when they are exposed to DBPVEs under white light irradiation, which is higher than those of DBPEs (including DBPE-4 and DBPE-6). More importantly, owing to the longer and more flexible aliphatic chains of DBPVE-6 that facilitate efficient intercalation into cell membranes, the staining ability of DBPVE-6 for methicillin-resistant S. epidermidis (MRSE) is greatly enhanced as compared to that of DBPVE-4. It should be noted that the antibacterial experiment indicates that DBPVE-6 displays potent toxicity to MRSE with 99.9% killing efficiency under white light irradiation. This work provides essential theoretical and experimental guidance on the designing of new photosensitizers for wastewater treatment.

Raising the charging voltage and employing high‐capacity cathodes like lithium cobalt oxide (LCO) are efficient strategies to expand battery capacity. High voltage, however, will reveal major issues such as the electrolyte's low interface stability and weak electrochemical stability. Designing high‐performance solid electrolytes from the standpoint of substance genetic engineering design is consequently vital. In this instance, stable SEI and CEI interface layers are constructed, and a 4.7 V high‐voltage solid copolymer electrolyte (PAFP) with a fluoro‐cyanogen group is generated by polymer molecular engineering. As a result, PAFP has an exceptionally broad electrochemical window (5.5 V), a high Li+ transference number (0.71), and an ultrahigh ionic conductivity (1.2 mS cm−2) at 25 °C. Furthermore, the Li||Li symmetric cell possesses excellent interface stability and 2000 stable cycles at 1 mA cm−2. The LCO|PAFP|Li batteries have a 73.7% retention capacity after 1200 cycles. Moreover, it still has excellent cycling stability at a high charging voltage of 4.7 V. These characteristics above also allow PAFP to run stably at high loading, showing excellent electrochemical stability. Solid‐state lithium‐metal batteries are considered as the next generation of high‐energy‐density batteries. However, their solid electrolytes suffer from low ionic conductivity, poor interface performance, and high production costs, restricting their commercial application. Herein, a low‐cost cellulose acetate‐based quasi‐solid composite polymer electrolyte (C‐CLA QPE) was developed with a high Li+ transference number (tLi+ ${{t}_{{{\rm L}{\rm i}}^{+}}}$) of 0.85 and excellent interface stability. The prepared LiFePO4 (LFP)|C‐CLA QPE|Li batteries exhibited excellent cycle performance with a capacity retention of 97.7 % after 1200 cycles at 1 C and 25 °C. The experimental results and Density Function Theory (DFT) simulation revealed that the partially esterified side groups in the CLA matrix contribute to the migration of Li+ and enhance electrochemical stability. In this work, a novel type of highly Li+-ions conductive, nonflammable adiponitrile (ADN)-based gel polymer electrolyte (denoted as AT11-GF) was prepared as a promising solid-state electrolyte for lithium (Li)-metal batteries by in-situ polymerization method. In order to overcome the parasitic reactions of ADN and triethyl phosphate (TEP) on Li-anode surface, fluoroethylene carbonate (FEC) was utilized as film-forming agent to generate LiF-enrich interface in this system of ADN-based electrolyte. The as-prepared electrolyte exhibited high ionic conductivity of 1.724 × 10−3 S/cm at ambient temperature, wide electrochemical window (∼5.75 V vs. Li+/Li), favorable Li+-ion transfer number (t Li +=0.70), and superior interfacial compatibility with Li anode (ultra-stable at a current density of 0.2 mA/cm2 for 1000 h). The LiFePO 4 |AT11-GF|Li battery presented an excellent rate capacity of 116.9 mAh/g at 2.0 C, and long-term cycling performance with a specific capacity of 134.6 mAh/g and a capacity retention of 94.5% after 1000 cycles at a current density of 1.0 C. The composite solid electrolytes (CSEs) inherits the high safety of the inorganic solid electrolyte and the easy processing of the organic polymer electrolyte, thereby exhibiting a broad application prospect. However, the performance of the CSE was hard to realizing its practical application in lithium metal batteries. Herein, the significant impact of CSE performance brought about by the addition of ionic liquids was studied and summarized: significantly increase ionic conductivity; constructing a viscoelastic interface between electrode and electrolyte to reduce the interface impedance; forming a stable and LiF-rich SEI at the negative electrode to inhibit the growth of lithium dendrites; wetting the LiFePO 4 porous cathode. The LiFePO 4 /CSE-60/Li battery displays high initial discharge specific capacity of 158.2 mAh g−1 and a capacity retention of 86.3% after 400 cycles at 1 C at 55 °C, and with coulombic efficiency of 99.7%. The surface of the lithium metal anode after long-term cycling exhibits to dendrite-free morphology. Gel electrolytes are promising candidates for fulfilling the performance and safety requirements of a new generation of lithium-ion battery technologies owing to their quasi-solid-state and ameliorated mechanical strength. However, there is a dilemma that requires the sacrifice of the ionic conductivity in exchange for mechanical strength. Here, a mechanically robust ionogel polymer electrolyte (IGPE) is explored to overcome this plight. The IGPE film is prepared by the nonsolvent induced phase separation method, and the obtained optimal flexible IGPE-5 sample exhibits robust mechanical strength with 178% elongation at break and 6.65 MPa breaking strength. In addition, the IGPE-5 presents a high ionic conductivity of 0.80 mS cm−1 at 25 °C, a wide electrochemical stability window of 4.7 V and high thermal stability up to 220 °C. The LiFePO 4 /IGPE-5/Li cell displays initial discharge capacity of 161.9 mAh g−1 and a capacity retention of 94.5% after 200 cycles at 0.5C at 55 °C. The IGPE-5-based flexible battery can withstand bending and cutting tests, indicating that the excellent flexibility and interface compatibility of IGPE-5. • Mechanically robust ionogel polymer electrolyte was prepared by NIPS method. • Excellent flexibility and interface compatibility. • The battery shows excellent performance at both room and elevated temperatures.
