Propolis, bitkilerin bütün yapılarından ve bitki salgılarından bal arıları (Apis mellifera) tarafından birleştirilen, fenolik asitler, flavonoidler gibi çok çeşitli aktif bileşik içeren, anti-bakteriyel, anti-fungal, anti-viral, anti-tumor ve anti-inflamatuar gibi pek çok biyolojik ve farmakolojik özellikler gösteren yapışkan bir apiterapik maddedir. Pamuk (Gossypium spp.), dünya da sıcak iklimin görüldüğü hem tropik hem de subtropik bölgelerde geniş alanlarda tarımı yapılan bir endüstri bitkisidir. Pamuk tarımında üretimin yanı sıra verim ve kaliteyi etkileyen birçok stres faktörü bulunmaktadır. Bu faktörlerin başında toprak kökenli bir fungus olan Verticillium dahliae Kleb.’in sebep olduğu solgunluk hastalığı gelmektedir. Etkin ve ekonomik bir kimyasal mücadelesi olmayan bu hastalığa karşı en etkili yol dayanıklı/tolerant çeşitlerin geliştirilmesidir. Bu tez çalışmasında ilk aşamada ham propolisin etil alkol ekstraktı (PEE)’nın V. dahliae’nin yaprak döken (PHCVd47 izolatı) ve yaprak dökmeyen (PHCVd3 izolatı) patotipleri üzerine etkileri, in-vitro koşullarda farklı konsantrasyonlarda (0,003, 0,06, 0,125, 0,25, 0,5 ve 1 ppm/ml) PEE içeren Patates Dextroz Agar (PDA-Difco) besiyerlerindeki miseliyal gelişme ölçülerek belirlenmiştir. İkinci aşamada in-vitro’da en etkili bulunan PEE dozu (1 ppm/ml) Giza 45 (dayanıklı), Carmen (tolerant) ve Acala SJ2 (duyarlı) pamuk çeşitlerine uygulanmış ve patojenin yaprak dökmeyen (PHCVd3 izolatı) ile yaprak döken patotiplerine (PHCVd47 izolatı) karşı bitki büyütme odasında saksı denemesinde bu çeşitlerin duyarlılıkları belirlenmiştir. In vitro denemeler tesadüf parselleri deneme deseninde üç tekerrürlü olarak, In-vivo’da saksı denemesi ise beş tekerrürlü olarak yürütülmüştür. In vitro’da engelleme test sonuçlarına bakıldığında, PEE’nın en etkili dozu 1 ppm/mL olarak belirlenmiş ve bu doz yaprak dökmeyen patotipe (PHCVd3 izolatı) karşı % 75,2 oranında etkili bulunurken, yaprak döken (PHCVd47 izolatı) patotipe karşı ise % 74,4 oranında etkili bulunmuştur. Saksı denemesinde PEE (1 ppm/ml) uygulanan pamuk çeşitlerinde yaprak dökmeyen (PHCVd3 izolatı) ve yaprak döken (PHCVd47 izolatı) patotiplerine karşı en düşük hastalık şiddeti indeks değerleri dayanıklı Giza 45 çeşidinde sırasıyla 1,34 ve 1,64 olarak saptanırken, en yüksek hastalık şiddeti indeks değerleri sırasıyla duyarlı Acala SJ2 çeşidinde 3,80 ve 3,90 olarak saptanmıştır. Çalışmada PEE’nın V. dahliae üzerine antifungal etkiye sahip olduğu ve biyopestisit olarak kullanılabileceği sonucuna varılmıştır. Propolis is a sticky apitherapy substance that is combined by honeybees (Apis mellifera) from all structures and plant secretions of plants, contains a wide range of active compounds such as phenolic acids, flavonoids, and shows many biological and pharmacological properties such as anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-viral, anti-tumor and anti-inflammatory. Cotton (Gossypium spp.) is an industrial plant that is farmed in large areas in both tropical and subtropical regions where the warm climate is seen in the world. In cotton farming, there are many stress factors that affect production as well as yield and quality. One of these factors is wilt disease caused by Verticillium dahliae Kleb., a fungus of soil-borne origin. The most effective way against this disease, which does not have an effective and economical chemical control, is the development of resistant/tolerant varieties. In the first stage of this thesis study, the effects of raw propolis on the pathotypes of ethyl alcohol extract (PEE) on the defoliating (PHCVd47 isolate) and non-defoliating (PHCVd3 isolate) pathotypes of V. dahliae, In-vitro conditions, different concentrations (0.003, 0.06, 0.125, 0.25, 0.5 and 1 ppm/ml) were determined by measuring the mycelial development in Potato Dextrose Agar medium (PDA-Difco) containing PEE. In the second stage, the most effective PEE dose (1 ppm/ml) in in-vitro was applied to Giza 45 (resistant), Carmen (tolerant) and Acala SJ2 (susceptible) cotton varieties and the susceptibility of these varieties was determined in the pot trial in the plant growth room against the pathogen's non-defoliating (PHCVd3 isolate) and defoliating pathotypes (PHCVd47 isolate). In vitro trials were carry out in a randomized plot design with three replications, and the pot trial was conducted with five replications in-vivo. When looking at the inhibition test results in in-vitro, the most effective dose of PEE was determined as 1 ppm/ml and this dose was found to be 75.2% effective against nondefoliating pathotype (PHCVd3 isolate), while it was found to be 74.4% effective against defoliating pathotype (PHCVd47 isolate). In the pot trial, the lowest disease severity index values against non-defoliating (PHCVd3 isolate) and defoliating (PHCVd47 isolate) pathotypes in cotton varieties applied to PEE (1 ppm/ml) were determined as 1.34 and 1.64 respectively in the resistant Giza 45 variety, The highest disease severity index values were 3.80 and 3.90 in the susceptible Acala SJ2 variety, respectively. The study concluded that PEE has antifungal effect on V. dahliae and can be used as a biopesticide. Apitherapy is a therapeutic approach based on the use of beehive products. It is frequently suggested for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. This study was to assess the recommendations of apitherapists regarding the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. 129 books written by apitherapists were reviewed regarding their recommendations for rheumatoid arthritis. These recommendations were compared to the findings of preclinical and clinical studies on the subject. Sixty-eight (52.7%) of the books mention the topic of rheumatoid arthritis and there were 44 different recommendations. They include all bee products (honey, pollen, propolis, etc.) but mainly bee venom (15 times) and royal jelly (5 times). Bee venom acupuncture (apipuncture) is mentioned only once. Compared to analyses from the scientific literature, only bee venom but mainly apipuncture are supported. This analysis shows that the majority of apitherapeutic books do not provide adequate information. However, some reports supported the scientific evidence that bee venom and apipuncture could be an interesting means of treatment of rheumatoid arthritis but more and higher quality clinical investigations are necessary., Apiterapi, arı kovanı ürünlerinin kullanımına dayalı bir tedavi yaklaşımıdır. Romatoid artrit tedavisi için sıklıkla önerilmektedir. Bu çalışma, apiterapistlerin romatoid artrit tedavisine ilişkin önerilerini değerlendirmek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Apiterapistler tarafından yazılan 129 kitap, romatoid artrit önerileri açısından gözden geçirilmiştir. Bu öneriler, konuyla ilgili klinik öncesi ve klinik çalışmaların bulgularıyla karşılaştırılmıştır. Kitapların 68'i (%52.7) romatoid artrit konusuna değinmektedir ve 44 farklı öneri bulunmaktadır. Bu öneriler tüm arı ürünlerini (bal, polen, propolis vb.) içermekle birlikte başlıca arı zehiri (15 kez) ve arı sütüne (5 kez) değinilmiştir. Arı zehri akupunkturundan (apipunktur) sadece bir kez bahsedilmiştir. Bilimsel literatürdeki analizlerle karşılaştırıldığında, sadece arı zehri ancak ağırlıklı olarak apipunktur desteklenmektedir. Bu analiz, apiterapötik kitapların çoğunun yeterli bilgi sağlamadığını göstermektedir. Bazı araştırmalar arı zehri ve apipunkturun romatoid artrit tedavisine yönelik farklı bir tedavi yaklaşımı olabileceğine yönelik bilimsel kanıtları desteklemekte olup bununla birlikte bu konuda daha fazla ve daha kaliteli klinik araştırmalara ihiyaç vardır.

Honey is the most known among the honeybee products. But apart from honey, there are other bee products that are nutritious and supportive of treatment. Pollen, royal jelly, and propolis are among the bee products that have the highest number of researches made in the last years. However, products such as bee bread (perga) and drone larvae (apilarnil) are very unknown products with little work. Apitherapy; bee and bee products as a method of complementary application in the protection and treatment of certain diseases. However, in order for these applications to be successful, the chemical and biological properties of these products need to be known. For this purpose, the definition, chemical and biological properties and therapeutic activities of bee products are included in this study.

Propolis bal arıları tarafından çam, okaliptüs, akçaağaç, kavak, kestane, erik gibi ağaçların tomurcuk, yaprak ya da kabuk çatlaklarından toplanan bitki reçinelerinin, mum, arıların çeşitli salgıları ve kısmen polen ile karıştırılmasıyla üretilen ve kovanda çeşitli amaçlarla kullanılan bir arı ürünüdür. Yapısında bulunan bileşenler propolise antimikrobiyal, antitümoral, antifungal, antiseptik özellikler kazandırmıştır. Bu nedenle çok eski çağlardan beri yaraların iyileştirilmesi, diş çürüklerinin tedavisi ya da dezenfeksiyon amacıyla kullanılmaktadır. Günümüzde de yapılan çalışmalar ile immün sistemi desteklediği belirlenen propolisin kullanımı daha çok yaygınlaşmıştır. Propolis kullanılarak üretilen birçok ürünün olması kullanılabilirliğini de kolaylaştırmıştır. Son yıllarda üretilen propolis katkılı krem, losyon, diş macunu gibi ürünler çeşitli hastalıkların tedavisinde olumlu yönde katkı sağlamaktadır. Özellikle son yıllarda her altı kişiden birinin ölümüne sebep olan kanserin tedavisi ve iyileştirilmesinde propolisin kullanımı dikkat çekmiş ve bu konuda birçok araştırma yapılmıştır. Yaraların iyileştirilmesi, dermatolojik sorunların giderilmesi, ağız ve diş sağlığının korunması gibi farklı alanlarda da propolisten faydalanılmaktadır. Bu derlemede propolisin iyileştirici ve önleyici etkilerininden bahsedilmiştir. Propolis is used plant resins collected by honey bees from the buds, leaves or shell cracks of trees such as pine, eucalyptus, maple, poplar, chestnut, plum; wax is a bee product produced by mixing bees with various secretions and partially with pollen and used for various purposes in the hive. The components in its structure gave the propolis antimicrobial, antitumoral, antifungal and antiseptic properties. For this reason, it has been used for the healing of wounds, the treatment of dental caries or disinfection since ancient times. Today, the use of propolis, which is determined to support the immune system, has become more common. The availability of many products produced using propolis has also facilitated its usability. Products such as cream, lotion, and toothpaste produced in recent years contribute positively to the treatment of various diseases. Especially in recent years, the use of propolis in the treatment and recovery of cancer that causes the death of one out of every six people has drawn attention and many studies have been conducted on this subject. Propolis is also used in different areas such as healing wounds, eliminating dermatological problems, protecting oral and dental health. In this review, the healing and preventive effects of propolis are mentioned.

Propolis en önemli arı ürünlerinden birisidir. Propolis yapışkan bir madde olup, bal arıları tarafından bitkilerden toplanan ve mumla karıştırarak kovan içerisinde birçok amaca yönelik olarak kullanılan bir maddedir. Arılar propolisi kovan ve diğer yaşam alanlarının iç duvarlarında kullanırlar. Delik ve çatlakların kapatılmasında, peteklerin tamir edilmesinde peteklerin birbirlerine yapıştırılmasında, savunmayı kolaylaştırmak veya kovan girişini daraltmak amacıyla kullanılır. Ayrıca propolis kovan içerisine giren ve ölen fakat arılar tarafından dışarıya atılamayan maddelerin üzerini örtmekte kullanılır. Propolisin güçlü dezenfektan etkisi bulunmakta ve bu etki kovan ile petek gözlerinin dezenfeksiyonunu sağlamaktadır. Mikroorganizmalara karşı olan etkisi propolisin en önemli özelliğidir. Bu yüzden eski zamanlardan günümüze kadar propolis farmakolojik özellikleri sebebiyle insanlar tarafından kullanılmaktadır. Propolis, antimikrobial, antifungal, antivirus, anti-inflamatör ve anestezik etkiler yanında pek çok yararlı biyolojik aktivitenin gerçekleşmesine neden olur. Bu nedenle propolis, apiterapide, biyokozmetikte, sağlıklı beslenme gibi pek çok amaç için kullanılmaktadır. Propolis is one of the most important bee products. Propolis has antimicrobial, antifungal, antivirus, antiflamatuar and anesteshic effects and many benefical biological activities. For this reason, propolis is widely used as a popular remedy in folk medicine, apitherapy, biocosmetics, healthy food and for many purposes.

Gördüğünüz gibi bu amacımıza ulaştık ve dergimizin süreli bir yayın olarak çıkarmak konusundaki inancımız pekişti.
