This bachelor thesis explores the connection between the image of the president in the Ukrainian TV series Servant of the People and the real presidential candidate Volodymyr Zelenskyy, because it was him who played the role of the president in the aforementioned TV show. The aim is to find out whether the film character Vasyl Goloborodko had the potential to contribute to Zelenskyy's election campaign and to what extent the examined figures coincide and differ. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the phenomenon of the television series, the Servant of the People series itself, specifically the plot, cast, audience response and criticism of the series in relation to Zelenskyy's candidacy in the elections, and also introduces the connection between celebrities and politics, explaining the concept of celebrity politician and its academic categorization. The research part examines the figure of Vasyl Goloborodko in selected episodes of the series and Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the video content of his election campaign through qualitative content analysis. The main goal of the thesis is to find out whether there is a connection between Instagram usage and a change in the perception of one's own body image, more specifically an increase in dissatisfaction with one's own physical appearance. The supporting goals are to map the individual factors arising from this dissatisfaction and to describe the solutions that Instagram users have adopted to achieve the dream appearance. Through qualitative research, specifically by analysing in-depth interviews with bloggers presenting extreme slenderness on social networks, the life stories of respondents are analysed in order to reveal how interest in body shape developed in the presence of social networks and new media. The interviews reveal the interest of Instagram users in watching and sharing photos presenting extreme slenderness and clarify their connection to eating disorders. Instead of triggering such diseases, Instagram manifests itself as a tool for maintaining and remaining in a new mental and physical condition. By publishing photographs showing a very thin body, women assure themselves of their own attractiveness, and thus also influence their self-presentation, which results in an equivalent relationship of satisfaction from slenderness and satisfaction from their self presentation.

Bachelor thesis is dealing with a change of the concept of womanhood in the ELLE magazine as a first foreign fashion medium which was issued in the Czech Republic after the political- social transformation in the year 1989. As an opposite medium serves the Žena a móda (=Woman and fashion) magazine. The changes will be observed on issues of the ELLE magazine which were published in the year 1994, that meaning the first year on the Czech market. In the case of the Žena a móda magazine, subjected publications will be from the year 1988. Womanhood will be presented in the theoretical part of the thesis, characterics and history of fashion magazines will be then presented together with a short history of the ELLE magazine and same with Žena a móda. Qualitative content and picture analytics will be explained in methodological part of the thesis which I chose as a tool to capture the expected differences. The analytic part is analyzing single specific differences in beforehand chosen dimensions.

The master thesis The media construction of feminity according to women's lifestyle magazines in years 2006 and 2016 is concerned with values, that women's lifestyle magazines present to women. These values concern with topics such relationships, sexuality, face, health and succees in career. The thesis will examine, in which roles women appear in these magazines. The aim of the thesis is to present a picture of an ideal woman, as the women's lifestyle magazines construct it. The theoretical part is devided into five chapters. The first chapter is focused on historical development of magazine publishing in Czech Republic since 1989. The second chapter describes development of trends in the media content in the last decade. The third part deals with the media and lifestyle magazines ownership. The fourth part introduces a general content of women's lifestyle magazines. The last chapter is focused on the role of women and women's lifestyle magazines in the current society. It discusses e. g. the term "double burden". Thesis "Presentation of trends in aesthetic medicine in selected specialized Czech magazines Estetika and Health & Beauty" deals with representation and media portrayal of female beauty and a current lifestyle to which more and more women adhere. It is a lifestyle in which body care plays a significant role. This paper analyzes trends in the two most famous Czech magazines devoted to aesthetic dermatology and plastic surgery - Estetika and Health & Beauty. The work aims to analyze these two magazines and find out how they portray these selected trends and which methods they most frequently use to persuade women to undergo surgery. It also tries to expound media representations of ideal beauty and the influence of the media on people. With regard to the objectives the work is divided into three parts: theoretical part, methodological part and empirically analytical part, or more precisely, the research part. The theoretical part comprises the conception of beauty in connection to human body. It examines the development of ideal beauty and the perception of the female body throughout the centuries. The theoretical section of the thesis Comparison of the misanthropic Show Jana Krause and the philanthropic Mark Eben's show Na plovárně aims to characterize the talk show genre both abroad and in the Czech Republic. It briefly outlines the development of the genre and its arrival in the Czech television stations. It also gives a definition of a presenter, describes the ways of communication, construction of the interviews with the guests, their selection, introduces Jan Kraus and Marek Eben and characterises both talk shows - Na Plovárně and Show Jana Krause. The practical section deals with an analysis of production in which interviews with representatives of both production teams are analysed. A qualitative analysis aims to answer the question: "How do the philanthropic and misanthropic concepts of the talk show differ, from the perspective of content and production intentions?" The conclusion contains a summary of the collected data.

The dissertation is titled "The trend of zombification in a current film and series production - audience-based research" and is aimed at explaining why people seek zombie themed series and movies. In the theoretical part, the author introduces the concept of a zombie in terms of its dominant position within the popular culture. With the historical background and the theoretical frame of the topic, the results of the audience research, that was focused mainly on the fans of a zombie genre, will be presented. By comparison of the media product discourse and the public discourse, the analysis reve als the hypothesis describing the relationship between the audience and the media content with a zombie theme. The research is based on a qualitative method of grounded theory. The methods of semi-structured interview and participant observation were used to collect the data.

The diploma thesis "Construction of the imagination of the first republic era from the point of view of two generations explained by an example of the Czech TV series První republika" focuses on the mechanisms in which the TV series co-constructs the audience perception of the given era. The series was broadcasted from January 2014 untill June 2014 on the Czech Televisions program. The thesis aims to show how the younger generations of TV viewers construct the period in which they did not live through their consuming of media content. This is compared with the old-timers who could compare their own experience with the series. The audiences of both generations are equally scrutinized and consequently compared. The theoretical part introduces the theses about social and media construction of reality accompanied by audience cultivation theories. The final analysis of the acquired data is based on these theories but it aims to invent a new hypothesis. The subject matter of the research part is analysed by the qualitative method of the grounded theory as Strauss and Glaser understand it. The French President Nicolas Sarkozy is presented in the long term as the head of state with a strong media influence and strong media manipulation ability. This tendency is moreover not rare in the field of politics, and it can have a strong impact on society. That is why it seems appropriate to devote attention to this topic within media studies. The aim of this thesis is to find out, based on the content-study of three Czech national newspapers, how Czech journalists deal with the topic of the French presidency - do they have their specific sources, how do they cope with information from the Élysée Palace, do they use the same sources, do they create stereotypes about Nicolas Sarkozy etc. Qualitative analysis of the articles is supplemented by findings from interviews with the journalists themselves. This diploma thesis named "Young people and its relationship with printed newspapers in the period of the new media" shows the way of treating the printed newspapers by the nowadays young generation within the Czech Republic. The thesis is based on the hypotheses predicting the tough situation and future position of printed newspapers. Concerning the experts' predictions the sole existence of the newspapers could be threatened by uninterested approach of young readers. The first part of the article shows the young people relationship to the printed newspapers as presented in selected international surveys and researches. The conclusions of these materials are essential sources used in my own further survey. As a part of the article the specific data presenting the situation of the Czech newspapers market are presented. It shows the printed newspapers decreasing demand which is significant as well as on the Czech Republic market. The methodology of the research is presented in the next part of the article. Diploma thesis Fashion blogs and research on the phenomenon discusses a relatively new phenomenon of personal blogs with a focus on fashion and style. It presents fashion blogs in all their complexity, including the definition, classification, origin and evolution. The second section compares the descriptive way fashion blogs with thematically related fashion magazines and from various perspectives: formal characteristics, work organization, text, picture and graphic elements, audiences, the use of advertising and PR and representation of reality. The practical part is focused on qualitative research fashion blog - by a focus group interview with fashion bloggers and subsequently grounded theory method of analysis examines the various relationships, especially causal, which operate under the studied phenomenon. Through reveals further aspects of the fashion blogging such as motivation, fears, needs, dreams and ambitions of bloggers. The goal is to answer the question of how fashion blogs with its distinctive style and authors presentation define the fashion magazines and propose a basic theory of operation of the medium as yet not explored.

The thesis titled "Czech serial Velmi křehké vztahy characters with regard to their property estate and social class" is linked to specialised publications which originated in the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Charles University in Prague mapping how the 'after the velvet revolution' series made by the Czech TV portray the topic of wealth and affluence. The theory part consist of findings from two socio-scientific fields, i.e. sociology and media studies, the outcomes of which will consequently meet in the research part of this thesis. This research sample was achieved by using a qualitative research technique, specifically the grounded theory method. Diploma thesis "China in the Czech Press: Comparing Representations of Authoritarian Political System in Democratic Media System" uses qualitative content analysis to examine attributes ascribed to China by selected Czech mainstream newspapers in selected periods, systematizing and categorizing the findings into instituted categories. The analysis serves as a basis for answering the key question: How media representations of political and social system - which is unacceptable in the system where the media work - can be ideologically adapted? Brief insight into history and contemporary problems of China and interpretation of the term "ideology" based on description of the development of this term firstly in its negative definition of Marxist line stay before presentation of results of the qualitative research. The thesis includes also extensive part full of graphical supplements which denote image of China in discourse of dailies Lidové noviny and Právo in five selected periods. It allows easy comparison of separate partial discourses, so distinctions among the partial images of China are well discoverable.

Diploma thesis "Media representation of Czech Sci-Fi Fandom in the Press in 2001-2006" deals with the ways in which science fiction fans are represented in Czech newspapers. For most people the media remain the most important source of information about the specific subculture of the fans. This thesis employs the qualitative analysis method to uncover the regularities of the fans' media representations. It concentrates on the portrayal of the fans' relationship with the primary texts, as well as relationships within the fan community and relationships with the wider society.

"The analysis of czech serials' presentation during their introductory campaign in the prited media" is a title of this diploma thesis. The main aim is to answer the questions "Which characteristics of serials'contents, if any, are emphasized and preferred by the television channels through the chosen press?" and "How are the serials presented within the particular editorial contents?" The serials are Insuring Happiness I, II and Family Bonds I and the printed media are Magazines DNES/Pátek/Právo. The diploma thesis is divided into three main parts. Theoretical part considers the history of audience analysis, through its passive concept to the conception of active audience. This part then deals with "cultural studies" and the work of their two represenatives - Stuart Hall and explanation of encoding/decoding and David Morley with his monograph "The Nationwide Audience".
