Understand the phenomenon of quality of life and health in the context of patients with a stoma. This is a descriptive study, with a qualitative approach, of the integrative literature review type. The literature search was carried out in the following databases: Virtual Health Library, which returned data from the following platforms: Nursing Database, Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences, Spanish Bibliographic Index in Health Sciences. The selected databases identified 1,253 articles, leaving 13 studies for the final sample. Regarding the doctor's assistance to patients with a stoma, the literature does not explicitly address the role of this professional, limiting their participation to only carrying out the surgical procedure to construct the stoma; thus implying the execution of more studies aimed at this reality.
