Background: Steroid cell tumor is one of the rare ovarian tumors and forms 0.1% of all ovarian tumors, divided to three subgroups. Steroid cell tumor that are not otherwise specified (NOS) are the most common type and represent 60% of steroid cell tumors. One of the most known signs of this tumor is hormonal function, especially androgenic effects of it. Primary treatment consists of eradication of tumor via surgery.Case presentation: The patient is a 29 years old female with history of poly cystic ovarian syndrome since 10 years ago, who attended to the clinic of General Women Hospital of Tehran in January 2011. In pelvic ultrasonography, there was a 6449mm mass in the right adnexa consisting of homogeneous component. She underwent laparotomy and unilateral salpingoophorectomy was done. Pathological report was steroid cell tumor of ovary.Conclusion: The aim of this study is reporting one of the rare tumors of ovary and assessment of the correct way of diagnosis and treatment of it.

"nBackground: Uterine contractions and an appropriate cervix are two important factors in labor contributing to good pregnancy outcomes. Oxytocin and prostaglandins, such as misoprostol, are used for the induction of labor. Misoprostol is used for cervical ripening and labor induction. The aim of this trial was to compare the efficacy and safety of titrated oral misoprostol solution with oxytocin for labor induction in pregnant women with an unfavorable cervix."n "nMethods: In this randomized double-blind clinical trial, 140 women with a gestational age of 34-42 weeks and an unfavorable cervix were recruited. The participants had an indication for labor induction and had been referred to the Women's Hospital in Tehran, Iran between January 2010 and January 2011. The participants were randomly assigned to receive 20 µg/hour titrated oral misoprostol plus intravenous placebo or 6 mU/min oxytocin plus oral placebo. In case contractions were inadequate, the drug doses were gradually increased. Pharmacological complications, the mean interval from the start of induction till vaginal delivery and delivery type were monitored and analyzed in both groups."n "nResults: The mean interval from the start of induction till vaginal delivery in misoprostol group was shorter than the oxytocin group (11.07±3.42 vs. 14.87±3.21 hours, P=0.001). The frequency of pharmacological complications and vaginal or cesarean deliveries were similar between the two groups (P>0.05)."n "nConclusion: Use of titrated oral misoprostol is a safe and effective method for labor induction in pregnant women with unfavorable cervix. Misoprostol is associated with a shorter interval from induction to vaginal delivery than oxytocin.

"nBackground: Plasminogen has a central role in fibrinolyrtic system can activate through various activators (PAs) to its active form plasmin and perfoem its vital function that is fibrin clot lysis. Furthermore the fibrinolyrtic system plays a major role in angiogenesis. The fibrinolyrtic system activation control cell migration and invasion. In addition to this, plasmin regulates tumor growth. Monoclonal antibodies, as biological tools, play an important role in basic researches. "nMethods: In the first step the effects of antibodies on the activation of fibrinolyrtic system with PAs were evaluated with several methods including macroscopic observation, quantitative measurement of DD/E fragments by D-dimer assay and activation of plasminogen by S-2251 synthetic substrate (ELISA method), subsequently we studied the effect of antibodies on angiogenesis process in an in- vitro model. "nResults: Results showed that MC2B8 that is an inhibitor of plasminogen activation in presence of plasminogen activators can inhibit angiogenesis process: A1D12 that is against N-terminal domain of Glu-plasminogen, in addition to activation of fibrinolyrtic system in presence of plasminogen activators, can activate in vitro angiogenesis process. "nConclusion: Plasmin formation is a critical step in invasion and migration of endothelial cells to form new vessels. Plasmin directly participates in angiogenesis by direct fibrin and other matrix components degradation, and indirectly by activating matrix degrading metalloproteinase and angiogenic growth factors. According to the in- vitro results, MC2B8 and A1D12 monoclonal antibodies play roles in this process in a dose dependent manner.

In this study to determine whether spine stiffness is predictive of clinical results after lumbar spinal fusion for spinal stenosis, a total of 78 patients were measured intraoperatively with Kocher clamp manual distraction technique to determine motion segment stiffness then spinal fusion was performed for any loose segment. ‎Statistical analysis revealed that stiffness measurement correlate with clinical results of surgery. During a minimum of 2 years follow up after surgery, patients who had loose motion segment before or after decompression and were fused had the same level of satisfaction with surgical results as patients without loose segments and fusion. ‎We concluded that intraoperative spinal stiffness measurement provide a good indicator to spine fusion after lumbar canal stenosis ‎surgery.
