A novel binary BiSI/Ag2CO3 photocatalyst with excellent visible‐light‐driven photocatalytic performance was prepared. The products were characterized by X‐ray powder diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), ultraviolet‐visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV‐Vis DRS) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The photocatalytic activity of the samples was evaluated by photocatalytic degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) under the irradiation of visible light. The results showed that the BiSI improves the photocatalytic activity of BiSI/Ag2CO3. Moreover, when the mass ratio of BiSI in BiSI/Ag2CO3 composites was 40 %, the as‐prepared BiSI/Ag2CO3 composite exhibited the best photocatalytic activity for degrading RhB. Finally, the possible mechanism for photodegradation over the BiSI/Ag2CO3 composites is also proposed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A novel g-C 3 N 4 composite photocatalyst was synthesized by one-step calcination using melamine and different functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) as raw materials. The effect of additives on the photocatalytic performance of the composite g-C 3 N 4 has been investigated. The results showed that the incorporation of functionalized MWCNT led to a porous structure in g-C 3 N 4 , increasing the specific surface area and availability of active sites. The addition of hydroxylated/carboxylated MWCNT (HMWCNT/CMWCNT) affected the band structure of g-C 3 N 4 and reduced the band gap. The visible-light photocatalytic degradation efficiency of Rhodamine B (RhB) using g-C 3 N 4 composited with various types and amounts of MWCNT was evaluated. Among them, g-C 3 N 4 with 1 wt% CMWCNT showed the highest photocatalytic degradation efficiency of RhB and still had 92.71% photocatalytic activity after 5 cycles of degradation. • A novel composite g-C 3 N 4 with functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes was synthesized. • The porous structure in composite increases the availability of active sites. • The reduced band gap of the composite increases the separation rate of photogenerated electron-hole pair. • The composite exhibited 3.83-fold photocatalytic degradation efficiency with good cycling stability. Water pollution has reached alarming levels due to the overuse of antibiotics, and photocatalysis is considered to be a green and efficient degradation technology for the treatment of water pollution caused by antibiotics. In this paper, a series of p-n heterojunction Bi 2 MoO 6 /Cu 2 O composite photocatalysts were synthesized by hydrothermal method. The samples were characterized by XRD, SEM, XPS, UV–Vis-DRS, PL, and EIS. The photocatalytic activities of the photocatalysts were analyzed based on the degradation of two antibiotics under visible light illumination. Results showed a removal rate of 88% and 94% for chlortetracycline (CTC) and tetracycline (TC), respectively. The corresponding first-order kinetic curves indicated that the reaction rates were 4.2 and 7.9 times higher than those of the Bi 2 MoO 6 and Cu 2 O monomers. The enhanced removal efficiency of antibiotics is ascribed to the improved light absorption and electron-hole pair transport channels, facilitated by the formation of p-n heterojunction within the catalyst. Further, a possible degradation mechanism was proposed. Finally, the intermediate products were analyzed using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS), and a possible photocatalytic degradation pathway of CTC was proposed. Based on the present study and experimental observations, Bi 2 MoO 6 /Cu 2 O as a visible-light-driven photocatalyst is suggested to be a promising candidate for the removal of antibiotics. The unique properties of MOFs make them the best candidates for catalytic and photocatalytic applications. In this research, the NH 2 -UiO-66 material was prepared by solvothermal method, and different content of NH 2 -UiO-66 was added before the composite growth of Bi 2 S 3 and BiOBr nanomaterials to obtain the NH 2 -UiO-66/BiOBr/Bi 2 S 3 ternary composite material. In order to investigate the relationship between the structure and properties of the catalyst, XRD, FT-IR, SEM, HRTEM, UV–vis DRS, XPS and other characterization technologies were used to analyze the structure, morphology, optical properties of the samples, showing that NH 2 -UiO-66/BiOBr/Bi 2 S 3 have been successfully synthesized. Their photocatalytic performance was evaluated based on the photocatalytic degradation of tetracycline hydrochloride and rhodamine B under visible light. The results show that 2% NH 2 -UiO-66/BiOBr/Bi 2 S 3 has better photocatalytic activity than other materials. Moreover, NH 2 -UiO-66/BiOBr/Bi 2 S 3 also demonstrated good photocatalytic reusability and stability. The formation of Bi 2 S 3 and BiOBr heterojunctions and the introduction of NH 2 -UiO-66 with more active sites increase the carrier performance and separation efficiency. Then the valence band and conduction band values of the semiconductor material are calculated through the M-S curve, combined with the forbidden bandwidth deduced by UV–vis DRS and the experimental results of radical trapping, a double Z-type electron transfer mechanism suitable for this system is inferred. Finally, taking RhB as an example, the degradation path of dye pollutants was studied. Successfully synthesized a series of NH 2 -UiO-66/BiOBr/Bi 2 S 3 ternary composite materials, It was found that when the content of NH 2 -UiO-66 was 2% and the ratio of Br: S was 8: 3, the UBB ternary composite had the highest efficiency, and the degradation rates of TC and RhB reached 93% and 96%, respectively. And the double Z-type degradation mechanism of NH 2 -UiO-66/BiOBr/Bi 2 S 3 ternary composite photocatalyst is proposed. [Display omitted] [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

With the advancement of industrialization, developing efficient photocatalysts are needed to resolve the more serious water pollution problems. In this study, the chitin-modified and graphene oxide (GO) bridged TiO 2 /carbon fibers (CGTC) were synthesized by a facile hydrothermal treatment. The CGTC80 (adding 80 mg GO) exhibited high adsorption and higher photodegradation ability than pure TiO 2. The results shows that 50 ml of 50 mg L−1 RhB solution could be almost completely degraded (97%) in 60min. The racial trapping examination shows that the photogenerated holes (h+) is the may active species in the photocatalytic system. After 3 cycles degradation, the photocatalyst still has high photocatalytic performance (>90%). Meanwhile, the high performance of CGTC for pollutants may due to the creation of more adsorption sites by dispersion of chitin and rapid conduction of electrons effected by GO. In general, this visible-light-driven chitin-modified graphene oxide bridged TiO 2 /CF catalyst exhibits significant potential in terms of stability and reproducibility for sewage treatment applications.
