Abstract: According to Article 12 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, EFSA has reviewed the maximum residue levels (MRLs) currently established at European level for the pesticide active substance 2,5‐dichlorobenzoic acid methylester. To assess the occurrence of 2,5‐dichlorobenzoic acid methylester residues in plants, processed commodities, rotational crops and livestock, EFSA considered the conclusions derived in the framework of Directive 91/414/EEC as well as the European authorisations reported by Member States. No risk to consumers is expected from the authorised uses. However, due to the lack of data, it was not possible to identify a relevant marker compound and to derive MRLs. Hence, if risk managers would have interest to enforce potential misuses, further data may need to be generated. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: In accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, the applicant DuPont de Nemours (Deutschland) GmbH submitted a request to the competent national authority in France to set an import tolerance for the active substance chlorantraniliprole in hops. The data submitted in support of the request were found to be sufficient to derive an maximum residue level (MRL) proposal for hops in support of the authorised use in the USA. Adequate analytical methods for enforcement are available to control the residues of chlorantraniliprole in hops at the validated limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.01 mg/kg. Based on the risk assessment results, EFSA concluded that the long‐term intake of residues resulting from the existing uses and the authorised use of chlorantraniliprole according to the reported agricultural practice is unlikely to present a risk to consumer health. Abstract: In accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, the applicant Belchim Crop Protection NV/SA submitted a request to the competent national authority in Hungary to modify the existing maximum residue levels (MRLs) for the active substance valifenalate in various crops. The data submitted in support of the request were found to be sufficient to derive MRL proposals for lettuces, tomatoes, aubergines, onions, shallots and garlic. Adequate analytical methods for enforcement are available to control the residues of valifenalate on the commodities under consideration at the validated limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.01 mg/kg. Based on the risk assessment results, EFSA concluded that the long‐term intake of residues resulting from the use of valifenalate according to the reported agricultural practices is unlikely to present a risk to consumer health. The short‐term intake was not carried out since no acute reference dose (ARfD) is established for valifenalate. Abstract: In accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, the applicants ADAMA Agriculture Espana S.A., Sapec Agro SAU and LSA (Landesanstalt für Landwirtschaft, Forsten und Gartenbau) submitted requests to the competent national authorities in Spain and Germany, to modify the existing maximum residue levels (MRLs) for the active substance tebuconazole in olives, rice, herbs and herbal infusions (dried). The data submitted in support of the requests were found to be sufficient to derive MRL proposals for all the crops under consideration. Adequate analytical methods for enforcement are available to control the residues of tebuconazole on the commodities under consideration at the validated limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.02 mg/kg. Based on the risk assessment results, EFSA concluded that the short‐term and long‐term intake of residues resulting from the use of tebuconazole according to the reported agricultural practices is unlikely to present a risk to consumer health. In accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, the evaluating Member State (EMS), the Netherlands, received two applications from ISK Biosciences Europe N.V. to modify the existing maximum residue levels (MRLs) for the active substance flonicamid in various commodities. EFSA concludes that the data submitted were sufficient to derive MRL proposals of 0.3 mg/kg for apricots, 0.5 mg/kg for head cabbage, and 1.5 mg/kg for beans and peas with pods. No change of the existing MRL set at the limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.03 mg/kg was required for sugar beet. Furthermore, EFSA derived new MRL proposals for some commodities of animal origin. Adequate analytical enforcement methods are available to control the residues of flonicamid on the commodities under consideration. Based on the risk assessment results, EFSA concludes that the proposed use of flonicamid on the commodities under consideration will not result in a consumer exposure exceeding the toxicological reference values and therefore is unlikely to pose a consumer health risk. In accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, the applicant Bayer CropScience submitted a request to the competent national authority in Spain to modify the existing maximum residue level (MRL) for the active substance ethephon in kaki/Japanese persimmons. The data submitted in support of the request are sufficient to derive a MRL proposal for the crop under consideration. An adequate analytical method for enforcement is available to control the residues of ethephon in kaki/Japanese persimmon fruits. Based on the risk assessment results, EFSA concluded that the short-term and long-term intake of residues resulting from the use of ethephon according to the reported agricultural practice is unlikely to present a risk to consumer health. To assess the occurrence of triclopyr residues in plants, processed commodities, rotational crops and livestock, EFSA considered the conclusions derived in the framework of Directive 91/414/EEC as well as the authorisations reported by Member States (including the supporting residues data). Based on the assessment of the available data, MRL proposals were derived and a consumer risk assessment was carried out. Although no apparent risk to consumers was identified, some information required by the regulatory framework was missing. To assess the occurrence of chlorpyrifos-methyl residues in plants, processed commodities, rotational crops and livestock, EFSA considered the conclusions derived in the framework of Directive 91/414/EEC, the MRLs established by the Codex Alimentarius Commission as well as the European authorisations reported by Member States (including the supporting residues data). Based on the assessment of the available data, MRL proposals were derived and a consumer risk assessment was carried out. Some information required by the regulatory framework was missing and a possible chronic risk to consumers was identified. Hence, the consumer risk assessment is considered indicative only, some MRL proposals derived by EFSA still require further consideration by risk managers and measures for reduction of the consumer exposure should also be considered. In accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, the Belgian Federal Public Service (FPS) for Health, Food chain safety and Environment, submitted an application as the competent national authority in Belgium to modify the existing maximum residue level (MRL) for the active substance captan in cranberries. The data submitted in support of the request were found to be sufficient to derive MRL proposal for cranberries. Adequate analytical methods for enforcement are available to control the residues of captan in plant matrices at the validated limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.01 mg/kg for each analyte in the crops assessed. Based on the exposure calculation, EFSA concluded that the short‐term and long‐term intake of residues resulting from the use of captan according to the reported agricultural practice will not result in a consumer exposure exceeding the existing toxicological reference values. In accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, the applicant ADAMA Agriculture BV on behalf of ADAMA Makhteshim Ltd. submitted a request to the competent national authority in the Netherlands to modify the existing maximum residue level for the active substance captan in hops. The data submitted in support of the request were found to be insufficient to conclude whether the existing residue definitions are appropriate for hops. Although the number of residue trials is sufficient to derive a tentative maximum residue level (MRL) for hops according to the residue definitions derived for fruits and fruiting vegetables, EFSA did not recommend this MRL for being implemented in the MRL legislation because due to the lack of a reliable residue definition for risk assessment. The applicant BASF SE submitted a request to the competent national authority in Germany to evaluate the confirmatory data that were identified for dimethomorph in the framework of the maximum residue level (MRL) review under Article 12 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005 as not available. The submitted residue data on raspberries were satisfactorily addressing the data gaps on raspberries and blackberries. Considering the new information provided, it is appropriate to lower the existing MRLs for blackberries and raspberries to the limit of quantification. The applicant BASF Agro BV submitted a request to the competent national authority in United Kingdom to evaluate the confirmatory data that were identified for teflubenzuron in the framework of the maximum residue level (MRL) review under Article 12 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005 as not available. To address the data gaps, a new metabolism study on leafy crops, a study investigating the nature of residues under standard hydrolytic conditions and a validated analytical method to determine residues of teflubenzuron in products of animal origin were submitted. In accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, the applicant, BASF SE, submitted an application to the competent national authority in Greece to modify the existing maximum residue level (MRL) for the active substance mepiquat in cotton seeds. The data submitted in support of the application were found to be sufficient to derive a MRL proposal for cotton seeds and the previously derived MRL proposals for animal commodities were found to be still valid. Adequate analytical methods for enforcement are available to control the residues of mepiquat chloride in the plant and animal commodities under consideration at the validated limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.01 mg/kg. Based on the risk assessment results, EFSA concluded that the short‐term and long‐term intake of residues resulting from the use of mepiquat chloride according to the reported agricultural practices is unlikely to present a risk to consumer health. The applicant BASF Agro BV submitted a request to the competent national authority in the Netherlands to evaluate the confirmatory data that were identified in the framework of the maximum residue level (MRL) review under Article 12 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005 as not available. To address the data gaps, residue trials on strawberries, onions, garlic, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, artichokes, leeks and rape seeds were submitted. The data gaps are considered satisfactorily addressed, except the use on strawberries (southern Europe). The indoor use on melon is no longer supported according to the applicant and the rapporteur Member State. EFSA updated the previously performed dietary risk assessment for pendimethalin and concluded that the short‐term and long‐term intake of residues resulting from the use of this active substance on crops treated according to the agricultural practices that were sufficiently supported by data is unlikely to present a risk to consumer health.
