The article presents information on the exhibition "Helen Lundeberg and the Illusory Landscape: Five Decades of Painting" shown at Louis Stern Fine Arts in West Hollywood, California during April 22-August 28, 2004. Artist Helen Lundeberg has chiefly been recognized for her psychologically astute self-portraits and allegorical still lifes of the 1930s and 1940s. In the 1950s, however, she began to use spare, geometric shapes in abstract compositions that convey the quiescence of nature. The exhibition at Louis Stem Fine Arts of about 40 of her paintings demonstrated the quiet power of her work and its contemporary relevance.
