Abstract: This work presents the design and test result of a standard 0.7μm CMOS flash analog-to-digital converter (ADC) operational in an ultra wide temperature range (UWT, room temperature down to 4.2K). To maintain the circuit’s performance over the UWT range in the presence of temperature induced transistor anomalies, dedicated topology and switching schemes are utilized. A promising cost-effective way of converting sun light into electricity could be a solar cell realized in a thin monocrystalline silicon film, due to its potential to achieve cell efficiencies of more than 20% in a 20 μm thick film. A porous silicon layer transfer technique provides an opportunity to get monocrystalline films on low-cost substrates such as glass. This paper reviews various processes, which are being developed for the layer transfer using porous silicon as a sacrificial layer while reusing of starting silicon substrate. The four basic steps—porous silicon formation, active layer deposition, layer separation and transfer, and device fabrication—have been identified in layer transfer process. The processes have been categorized and compared on the basis of the sequence of steps used in individual processes. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

An overview is given concerning industrial technologies, IMEC's advanced pilot line crystalline silicon solar cell technologies and medium term developments for industrial crystalline silicon terrestrial solar cell fabrication. Up to now, all high frequency switching experiments on ferromagnetic semiconductors have involved light induced switching, which is not compatible with integrated circuits. We employed all-electrical techniques to study the response of (Ga,Mn)As to a magnetic field pulse. A field pulse was applied through a coplanar waveguide and the magnetization was read out by anisotropic magnetoresistance. We demonstrated that full magnetization switching by domain wall nucleation and propagation can be triggered by pulses as short as 800 ps, combining the effect of the pulsed field and a heat-induced reduction of the coercive field.
