Domestic servitude is a multi-offensive form of human exploitation that violates people’s dignity. This study explains how the COVID-19 pandemic influenced the perpetration and increase of situations of domestic servitude. This is done through an analysis of risk factors—inequality, insecurity, marginalization, poverty, and gender violence—present worldwide, which facilitate the exploitation of black, Latino, migrant, and low-income women and girls. The close link between the invisibility of cases and the increase in the black number of victims of this type of human exploitation is also analyzed. The study concludes by showing the correlation between the increase in the black number of cases of exploitation through domestic servitude and the vulnerability factors women face in crisis situations such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
