The paper looks at the contemporary youth environment from the standpoint of juvenology. The youth is regarded as a distinct social community prone to violating the norms and rules due to the specific mentality and functional characteristics. The authors denote the youth age range, social status and roles, behavior patterns, life style and subculture preferences. The youth community is most open to innovation, being its generator and consumer, conductor of information flows, initiator of new behavior patterns and stereotypes including the negative ones. The main disadvantages of the given age group are the lack of social experience, rejection of traditional cultural behavior patterns on the one hand, and high susceptibility and imitation propensity on the other hand. The research demonstrates that social deviation often results from the young people’s dissatisfaction and lack of social prospects. Therefore, the factors determining the above trends are related to insufficient attention to the youth’s requirements and interests on the part of the government and society.

Молодежь представлена как особая социальная общность, ментальность и функциональные характеристики которой располагают к нарушению различного рода норм, причем отклонения могут быть как позитивного, так и негативного свойства. Обозначены возрастные границы молодости, ее особый социальный (переходный) статус, ролевые функции, особенности поведения, стиля и образа жизни, а также субкультурные предпочтения и круг интересов. Молодежь– социальная группа, наиболее открытая инновациям, она выступает лидером и их производства, и их потребления. Так, на этапе перехода от постиндустриального к информационному обществу за ней все более прочно закрепляется роль «проводника» информационных потоков, новых знаний и навыков, формирующих иные, по сравнению с прежними, модели поведения, клише и стереотипы, в том числе, к сожалению, и девиантные. Недостатком данной общности является отсутствие необходимого социального опыта. Отказ от традиционных культурных паттернов поведения в молодом возрасте обычно сочетается с высокой степенью восприимчивости и подражательности, что объясняется противоречивостью задач этого этапа жизни: попытками скорейшей социальной адаптации и видоизменения ряда социальных норм; усвоением комплекса ролей для эффективного функционирования в мире взрослых и модифицированием этих ролей и стилей поведения.Показано, что социальные отклонения среди молодежи нередко обусловлены неудовлетворенностью ее базовых потребностей – недостатком общения, нехваткой или отсутствием возможностей самоутверждения и самореализации. К факторам, детерминирующим социальные отклонения, относятся и игнорирование со стороны общества и государства интересов и запросов молодежи в качественном досуге, коммерциализация и массовизация сферы культуры, усиление ее зрелищности за счет содержания.
