In the article the author proceeds from the conception that family as a social institution has got many functions the fundamental one of which is preservation and transference of family values, cultural wealth and traditions. The family has also a significant part in socialization of the person, being the basic support and forming an adequate selfattitude and an attitude to the world as a whole. And transformation of attitudes and values of young men and women is an extremely urgent social-psychological problem in rapidly changing social-economic circumstances. The theoretical grounds of the research are the concepts of meaning (sense) and values which are reflected in the works by I.V. Abakumova, R.F. Baumeister, K. Chamberlain, V.E. Chudnovsky, L.Ju. Kruteleva, D.A. Leontiev, S.H. Schwartz, etc. To prove the hypotheses the author uses such methods as standardized interviews, testing, analytical comparison and statistical data processing. Reasoning from the statement that life-sense strategies and value orientations of a person are a system of sufficiently stable, subjective attitudes to the different components of one's own life which determine the nature of the activity of the person, the author statistically proves significant differences in life-sense strategies and value orientations of men and women aimed at family creation and marriage in the period of early adulthood depending on sex and age of the respondents, place where respondents grown up (urban or rural areas) and the presence or absence of the experience of official matrimonial relations.
