Abstract

The article presents a study on the influence of chemical degradation on the convective transport properties of CEM hardened paste and concrete. The main purpose was to measure experimentally and compare the water permeability of undegraded and degraded cementitious materials in order to detect transport property changes. At the same time, water permeability evolution was quite well correlated with porosity and pore structure change. The study also provided an opportunity to perform long-duration accelerated chemical degradation tests using ammonium nitrate solution.
