We investigate the separate spatial soliton pair supported by both the linear and quadratic electro-optic effects. The numerical solutions of the bright–bright, dark–dark and bright–dark separate spatial soliton pairs are deduced from the coupling equations. The intensity profiles, coupling effects and dynamical evolutions of three types of separate spatial soliton pairs are analysed by numerical method. The two solitons in bright–bright separate spatial soliton pair can affect each other only by adjusting the background beam intensity. In dark–dark soliton pair, the two solitons can affect each other by adjusting the soliton beam intensity besides the background beam. And in bright–dark soliton pair, the bright soliton can affect the dark soliton only by the background beam intensity but the dark soliton can affect the bright soliton by both the background beam and soliton beam intensity. The numerical solutions of gray spatial solitons supported by linear and quadratic electro-optic (EO) effects in two-photon photorefractive (PR) media are deduced. The characteristics of the gray spatial soliton, soliton pair and soliton family are investigated by numerical method. The full width at half maximum of the gray spatial soliton increases gradually with the increase of the grayness, but decreases gradually with the increase of the soliton optical intensity and external electric field. We investigate numerically the propagation and interaction characteristics of finite-energy Airy-Hermite-Gaussian beams in biased photorefractive media. For the case of first-order Hermite polynomial, two main lobes of the initial input beam can form breathing solitons with two components. The interval between two soliton components in the y-direction increases gradually with the propagation distance, while the central position of two soliton components in the x-direction is almost unchanged during propagation. Moreover, in interaction situations, four main lobes of the two Airy-Hermite-Gaussian beams can also form breathing solitons with four components under the in-phase and out-of-phase conditions, respectively. Investigate numerically the propagation and interaction of cos-Gaussian beams in a biased photorefractive crystal by the finite difference method. The results show that the single cos-Gaussian beam can evolve into Y-type breathing solitons when the self-focusing nonlinearity is small, and the soliton properties can be controlled by adjusting the nonlinear parameter or cos modulation parameter. The distance between two components of Y-type breathing solitons will decrease with increasing the nonlinear parameter or decreasing the cos modulation parameter. The breathing soliton with two weak sidebands can form when the self-focusing nonlinearity is big.
