We present three low-mass and one solar mass companions found around four intermediate-mass giants HD1695, HD120235, HD145316 and HD200004 from precise radial velocity measurements using the 1.5 m Russian-Turkish Telescope (RTT150) at the TUBITAK National Observatory of Turkey (TUG). The stellar parameters, which are effective temperature ( T eff ), surface gravity (logg) and metallicity ( [ Fe / H ] ), as well as rotational velocity (vsini) are obtained from spectral analysis. From the estimated stellar masses, the orbital parameters of the companions are also derived. We find two types of Keplerian solutions for the companion of HD120235: (1) periods 5522 days and eccentricity of e ∼ 0.93 , and (2) periods 1566 days and eccentricity of e ∼ 0.83 . From the abundances analysis HD1695 is found to be a metal-rich star with [ Fe / H ] > 0.1 , while HD200004 is a metal poor star with [ Fe / H ] - 0.2 . The other two stars, HD120235 and HD145316, have solar-like abundances with [ Fe / H ] ∼ 0.0 . Our stellar parameters and orbital solutions show that all of these stars are evolved intermediate-mass giants.

WOS: 000416942200014, For over 10 years, we have carried out a precise radial velocity (RV) survey to find substellar companions around evolved G, K-type stars to extend our knowledge of planet formation and evolution. We performed high precision RV measurements for the giant star HD 208897 using an iodine (l(2)) absorption cell. The measurements were made at TUBlTAK National Observatory (TUG; RTT150) and Okayama Astrophysical Observatory (OAO). For the origin of the periodic variation seen in the RV data of the star, we adopted a Keplerian motion caused by an unseen companion. We found that the star hosts a planet with a minimum mass of m(2) sin i = 1.40 M-J, which is relatively low compared to those of known planets orbiting evolved intermediate-mass stars. The planet is in a nearly circular orbit with a period of P = 353 days at about 1 AU distance from the host star. The star is metal rich and located at the early phase of ascent along the red giant branch. The photometric observations of the star at Ankara University Kreiken Observatory (AUKR) and the HlPPARCOS photometry show no sign of variation with periods associated with the RV variation. The AZT-22 telescope installed in Turkey (Antalia) was aligned and tested on stars by the Hartmann method. The rms normal deviation of an equivalent optical system is 0.040±0.016 µm. The circle of confusion is 0.40±0.04 arcsec in diameter at a 50% energy level.

The light curves, obtained by the authors of the present paper during the period 1978–1992, of the chromospherically active binary system RT Lac were examined. The average (B–V) colour indices were obtained and corrected for the interstellar extinction. Spectroscopic studies indicate that the less massive component may be taken as G8. The light curve analysis indicates that the less massive, larger component fills its corresponding Roche lobe. Both photometric and spectroscopic observations compel one to draw a conclusion that circumstellar matter does exist around the binary system. A colour excess caused by this matter is found to be 0.278 for B–V colour at mid–secondary eclipse. On the basis of photometric colour indices alone, the components of RT Lac are classified as G3–4 and G8. If we use the observed radial velocities of the less massive subgiant star from Ca II emission lines and from other optical lines we find for the mass of the more massive component as 1.34–1.70 M⊙. This mass range corresponds to the main sequence late F stars. The common envelope hypothesis and mass function and also blending of the spectral lines of more massive component point out that it should be at most a late F type main sequence star.

A small group of collaborators was established at the end of 2007 with the objective of starting an extra-solar planet search at the TUBITAK National Observatory of Turkey. High resolution spectra of some radial velocity standards and planet-harbouring stars have since been obtained using an iodine (I-2) absorption cell placed in front of the entrance slit of the Coude Echelle Spectrograph (CES) in the 1.5-m Russian-Turkish Telescope (RTT150). To determine precise radial velocity measurements for these stars, a new computer code was developed by one of the collaborators (MY) using an IDL (Interactive Data Language) programing platform specific to the RTT150's CES + I-2-cell data. This paper summarises the technical setup, the new code, the test observation results and the precision achieved in the radial velocity measurements. The results from radial velocity standards and planet-harbouring stars show that a precision of approximately 10 m s(-1) was achieved with the CES on the RTT150 during the three years of test observations. In addition, the instrumental profile (IP) characteristics of the CES on the RTT150 in this study were derived by modelling the observed B-star + I-2 spectra. The observed instrumental profiles were a typical Gaussian shape and exhibited small variations that depended on the position on the CCD and also varied between exposures, which affected the precision of the radial velocity measurements. In this study, we present photometric and spectroscopic variations of the extremely small mass ratio ($q\simeq 0.1$) late-type contact binary system \astrobj{V1191 Cyg}. The parameters for the hot and cooler companions have been determined as $M_\textrm{h}$ = 0.13 (1) $M_{\odot}$, $M_\textrm{c}$ = 1.29 (8) $M_{\odot}$, $R_\textrm{h}$ = 0.52 (15) $R_{\odot}$, $R_\textrm{c}$ = 1.31 (18) $R_{\odot}$, $L_\textrm{h}$ = 0.46 (25) $L_{\odot}$, $L_\textrm{c}$ = 2.71 (80) $L_{\odot}$, the separation of the components is $a$= 2.20(8) $R_{\odot}$ and the distance of the system is estimated as 278(31) pc. Analyses of the times of minima indicates a period increase of $\frac{dP}{dt}=1.3(1)\times 10^{-6}$ days/yr that reveals a very high mass transfer rate of $\frac{dM}{dt}=2.0(4)\times 10^{-7}$$M_{\odot}$/yr from the less massive component to the more massive one. In this study, we present long term photometric variations of the close binary system \astrobj{GO Cyg}. Modelling of the system shows that the primary is filling Roche lobe and the secondary of the system is almost filling its Roche lobe. The physical parameters of the system are $M_1 = 3.0\pm0.2 M_{\odot}$, $M_2 = 1.3 \pm 0.1 M_{\odot}$, $R_1 = 2.50\pm 0.12 R_{\odot}$, $R_2 = 1.75 \pm 0.09 R_{\odot}$, $L_1 = 64\pm 9 L_{\odot}$, $L_2 = 4.9 \pm 0.7 L_{\odot}$, and $a = 5.5 \pm 0.3 R_{\odot}$. Our results show that \astrobj{GO Cyg} is the most massive system near contact binary (NCB). Analysis of times of the minima shows a sinusoidal variation with a period of $92.3\pm0.5$ years due to a third body whose mass is less than 2.3$M_{\odot}$. In this study we determined precise orbital and physical parameters of the very short period low-mass contact binary system CC Com. The parameters are obtained by analysis of the new CCD data with the archival spectroscopic data. The physical parameters of the components derived as $M_\textrm{c}$ = 0.717(14) $M_{\odot}$, $M_\textrm{h}$ = 0.378(8) $M_{\odot}$, $R_\textrm{c}$ = 0.708(12) $R_{\odot}$, $R_\textrm{h}$ = 0.530(10) $R_{\odot}$, $L_\textrm{c}$ = 0.138(12) $L_{\odot}$, $L_\textrm{h}$ = 0.085(7) $L_{\odot}$, and the distance of the system is estimated as 64(4) pc. The times of minima obtained in this study and with those published before enable us to calculate the mass transfer rate between the components which is $1.6\times10^{-8}$ M$_{\odot}$yr$^{-1}$. We present ground-based photometry of the low-temperature contact binary BB Peg. We collected all the times of mid-eclipse available in the literature and combined them with those obtained in this study. Analyses of the data indicate a period increase of (3.0 ± 0.1) × 10-8 days yr -1. This period increase of BB Peg can be interpreted in terms of the mass transfer 2.4 × 10-8 M⊙ yr-1 from the less massive to the more massive component. The physical parameters have been determined as Mc = 1.42M⊙, Mh = 0.53 M⊙, Rc = 1.29 R⊙, Rh, = 0.83 R⊙, Lc = 1.86 L⊙, and L h = 0.94 L⊙ through simultaneous solutions of light and of the radial velocity curves. The orbital parameters of the third body, which orbits the contact system in an eccentric orbit, were obtained from the period variation analysis.
