What are the biomechanical implications in the dynamics and evolution of a growing solid tumor? Although the analysis of some of the biochemical aspects related to the signaling pathways involved in the spread of tumors has advanced notably in recent times, their feedback with the mechanical aspects is a crucial challenge for a global understanding of the problem. The aim of this paper is to try to illustrate the role and the interaction between some evolutionary processes (growth, pressure, homeostasis, elasticity, or dispersion by flux-saturated and porous media) that lead to collective cell dynamics and defines a propagation front that is in agreement with the experimental data. The treatment of these topics is approached mainly from the point of view of the modeling and the numerical approach of the resulting system of partial differential equations, which can be placed in the context of the Hele-Shaw-type models. This study proves that local growth terms related to homeostatic pressure give rise to retrograde diffusion phenomena, which compete against migration through flux-saturated dispersion terms., MINECO-Feder (Spain) research grant numbers RTI2018-098850-B-I00 (J.C., J.S.) & EQC2018-004508-P (B.B., J.M.), Junta de Andalucía (Spain) Projects PY18-RT-2422 (J.C., J.S.), A-FQM-311-UGR18 (J.C., J.S.) & IE2017-5537 (B.B., J.M.), Instituto de Salud Carlos III, project number DTS17/00087 (J.M., J.S.), Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities of Spain, project numbers DPI2017-85359-R (B.B., J.M.) & PID2019-106947RA-C22 (B.B., J.M.), Consejería de Economía, Conocimiento, Empresas y Universidad and European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), ref. [Departement_IRSTEA]Eaux [TR1_IRSTEA]GEUSI [ADD1_IRSTEA]Gestion intégrée de la ressource et des infrastructures; International audience; To date, the hydraulics of water distribution networks are calculated using deterministic models. Because many of the parameters in these models are not known exactly, it is important to evaluate the effects of their uncertainties on the results through uncertainty analysis. For the propagation of uncertain parameters, this article for the first time applies the polynomial chaos expansion to a hydraulic model and compares the results with those from classical approaches like the first-order second-moment method and Monte Carlo simulations. Results presented in this article show that the accuracy of the polynomial chaos expansion is on the same level as the Monte Carlo simulation. Further, it is concluded that due to its computational efficiency, polynomial chaos expansion is superior to the Monte Carlo simulation.

In this paper, we rigorously obtain all the equilibria of collision kernels of type ``two particles give two particles'' appearing in weak turbulence theory under very general assumptions, thus completing the ``equality case'' in Boltzmann's H-theorem for those models. We also provide some rigorous results for collision kernels of type ``two particles give one particle'', under assumptions which include some of the most classical kernels of this type. The method of proof is inspired by the quantitative estimates obtained for the Landau equation by Desvillettes in [J. Funct. Anal. 269:1359-1403, 2015].

International audience; To assist industrial engine design, 3D simulations are increasingly used as they allow evaluation of a wide range of engine configurations and operating conditions and bring a comprehension of the underlying physics comple-mentary to experiments. While the gaseous flow description has reached a certain level of maturity, the multiphase flow description involving the liquid jet fuel injected into the chamber still faces some major challenges. There is a pressing need for a spray model that is time efficient and accurately describes the fuel-particle cloud dynamics downstream of the injector, which is an essential prerequisite for predictive combustion simulations. Due to the highly unsteady nature of the flow following the high-pressure injection process and the complexity of the flow regimes from separated/dense compressible phases to fully developed turbulent spray with evaporating droplets, Eulerian-Eulerian descriptions of two-phase flows are seen as very promising approaches towards realistic and predictive simulations of the mixing process. However they require some effort in terms of physical modeling and numerical analysis related to the more complex mathematical structure of the system of equations and to the unclosed terms appearing in space/time-average equations. Among the various challenges faced, one critical as-pect is to capture spray polydispersity in this framework. A review of recent developments that have permitted key advances in the spray modeling community is proposed in this paper. It is divided into four parts. First, an introduction to automotive spray modeling is provided. Then the formalisms for the description of the disperse region of an engine spray are presented with particular emphasis on the pros and cons of classical Lagrangian par-ticle methods versus Eulerian approaches. The third part presents the motivation for and the recent developments of Eulerian high-order moment methods for size polydispersion. Finally, the extension to fully two-way coupled interactions with the gas phase and the implementation of such methods for variable-geometry applications in CFD codes is described in the fourth part. Using realistic direct injection conditions computed with the IFP-C3D solver, the application and efficiency of Eulerian approaches is illustrated.

Parameter estimates of GW150914 were obtained using Bayesian inference, based on three semi-analytic waveform models for binary black hole coalescences. These waveform models differ from each other in their treatment of black hole spins, and all three models make some simplifying assumptions, notably to neglect sub-dominant waveform harmonic modes and orbital eccentricity. Furthermore, while the models are calibrated to agree with waveforms obtained by full numerical solutions of Einstein's equations, any such calibration is accurate only to some non-zero tolerance and is limited by the accuracy of the underlying phenomenology, availability, quality, and parameter-space coverage of numerical simulations. This paper complements the original analyses of GW150914 with an investigation of the effects of possible systematic errors in the waveform models on estimates of its source parameters. To test for systematic errors we repeat the original Bayesian analyses on mock signals from numerical simulations of a series of binary configurations with parameters similar to those found for GW150914. Overall, we find no evidence for a systematic bias relative to the statistical error of the original parameter recovery of GW150914 due to modeling approximations or modeling inaccuracies. However, parameter biases are found to occur for some configurations disfavored by the data of GW150914: for binaries inclined edge-on to the detector over a small range of choices of polarization angles, and also for eccentricities greater than $\sim$0.05. For signals with higher signal-to-noise ratio than GW150914, or in other regions of the binary parameter space (lower masses, larger mass ratios, or higher spins), we expect that systematic errors in current waveform models may impact gravitational-wave measurements, making more accurate models desirable for future observations., 29 pages, 9 figures
