Straatsma syndrome is an uncommon ocular condition generally comprised of myelinated retinal nerve fiber layer, myopia, and amblyopia. Associated ocular disorders include strabismus, nystagmus, optic nerve hypoplasia, and iris heterochromia. Purpose: To describe the incidence and distribution of eye diseases affecting children in the first year of life in Olmsted County, Minnesota., Methods: We conducted a population-based, retrospective medical record review of infants (≤1 year of age) residing in Olmsted County diagnosed with an ocular disorder from January 1, 2005, through December 31, 2014., Results: A total of 4,223 infants were diagnosed with an ocular disorder, yielding an incidence of 20,242/100,000 births per year, or 1 in 4.9 live births (95% CI, 19,632-20,853). The median age at diagnosis was 3 months, and 2,179 (51.5%) were female. The most common diagnoses included conjunctivitis, in 2,175 (51.5%), nasolacrimal duct obstruction, in 1,432 (33.6%), and pseudostrabismus, in 173 (4.1%). Visual acuity was decreased in one or both eyes in 23 (0.5%) infants because of strabismus in 10 (43.5%) and cerebral visual impairment in 3 (13.0%). A majority of the infants (3,674 [86.9%]) were diagnosed and managed by a primary care provider, and 549 (13.0%) were evaluated and/or managed by an eye care provider., Conclusions: Although ocular disorders occurred in 1 in 5 infants in this cohort, most conditions were evaluated and managed by primary care providers. Purpose: To characterize long-term strabismus outcomes in children in the Infant Aphakia Treatment Study (IATS)., Methods: This study was a secondary data analysis of long-term ocular alignment characteristics of children aged 10.5 years who had previously been enrolled in a randomized clinical trial evaluating aphakic management after unilateral cataract surgery between 1 and 6 months of age., Results: In the IATS study, 96 of 109 children (88%) developed strabismus through age 10.5 years. Half of the 20 children who were orthophoric at distance through age 5 years maintained orthophoria at distance fixation at 10.5 years. Esotropia was the most common type of strabismus prior to age 5 years (56/109 [51%]), whereas exotropia (49/109 [45%]) was the most common type of strabismus at 10.5 years (esotropia, 21%; isolated hypertropia, 17%). Strabismus surgery had been performed on 52 children (48%), with 18 of these (35%) achieving microtropia <10 Δ . Strabismus was equally prevalent in children randomized to contact lens care compared with those randomized to primary intraocular lens implantation (45/54 [83%] vs 45/55 [82%]; P = 0.8). Median visual acuity in the study eye was 0.56 logMAR (20/72) for children with orthotropia or microtropia <10 Δ versus 1.30 logMAR (20/400) for strabismus ≥10 Δ (P = 0.0003)., Conclusions: Strabismus-in particular, exotropia-is common irrespective of aphakia management 10 years following infant monocular cataract surgery. The delayed emergence of exotropia with longer follow-up indicates a need for caution in managing early esotropia in these children. Purpose: To determine proportions of children with strabismus with below-normal Pediatric Eye Questionnaire (PedEyeQ) scores., Methods: Ninety-eight children with strabismus (70 aged 5-11 years; 28 aged 12-17 years) were evaluated. Children completed the Child 5-11 or 12-17 PedEyeQ (Functional Vision, Bothered by Eyes/vision, Social, and Frustration/worry domains). Parents completed the Proxy (same domains plus Eye Care) and Parent PedEyeQ (Impact on Parent and Family, Worry about Child's Eye Condition, Worry about Child's Self-perception and Interactions, and Worry about Functional Vision domains). Previously published normal (5 th percentile) thresholds were applied to calculate proportions with below-normal scores for each domain., Results: For the Child PedEyeQ more than 20% of 5- to 11-year-olds scored below normal, on all but the Social domain, whereas more than 50% of 12- to 17-year-olds scored below normal on all domains. On the Proxy PedEyeQ, more than 50% scored below normal on all domains when parents reported on 5- to 11-year-olds and 12- to 17-year-olds. For the Parent PedEyeQ, more than 50% of the parents of both 5- to 11-year-olds and 12- to 17-year-olds scored below normal on all domains., Conclusions: The majority of children with strabismus have below-normal PedEyeQ scores, particularly children aged 12-17 years.

Twenty adolescents (12-17 years old) with diplopic strabismus and 20 with nondiplopic strabismus (matched to diplopic subjects for direction and magnitude of ocular deviation) completed the Pediatric Eye Questionnaire (PedEyeQ). Children completed the Child PedEyeQ, and one parent for each child completed the Proxy PedEyeQ and Parent PedEyeQ. PedEyeQ Rasch domain scores were calculated and converted to a scale of 0 (worst) to 100 (best). Distributions of domain scores were compared between diplopic and nondiplopic cohorts using Wilcoxon tests. Diplopic adolescents had significantly lower Child PedEyeQ scores on Functional Vision (72 vs 90; P = 0.008), Bothered by Eyes/Vision (65 vs 90; P = 0.009), and Frustration/Worry (53 vs 75; P < 0.001) domains. There was no difference on the Child Social domain (85 vs 90; P = 0.22). Proxy and Parent PedEyeQ scores were similar between diplopic and nondiplopic cohorts (P > 0.06 for each comparison). Importance: The Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group Cataract Registry provides a multicenter assessment of visual outcomes and complications after lensectomy for traumatic pediatric cataract., Objective: To report visual acuity (VA) and the cumulative proportion with strabismus, glaucoma, and other ocular complications by 15 months after lensectomy for traumatic cataract among children younger than 13 years at the time of surgery., Design, Setting, and Participants: From June 18, 2012, to July 8, 2015, 1266 eyes of 994 children from 33 pediatric eye care practices seen within 45 days after lensectomy were enrolled in a multicenter, prospective observational registry. Of these, 74 eyes of 72 participants undergoing lensectomy for traumatic cataract were included in a cohort study. Follow-up was completed by November 2, 2015, and data were analyzed from March 20, 2018, to July 7, 2020., Exposures: Lensectomy after ocular trauma., Main Outcomes and Measures: Best-corrected VA from 9 to 15 months after lensectomy for traumatic cataract (for those 3 years or older) and the cumulative proportion with strabismus, glaucoma, and other ocular complications by 15 months., Results: Of 994 participants in the registry, 84 (8%) had traumatic cataract. The median age at lensectomy for 72 participants examined within 15 months after surgery was 7.3 (range, 0.1-12.6) years; 46 (64%) were boys. An intraocular lens was placed in 57 of 74 eyes (77%). In children 3 years or older at outcome, the median best-corrected VA was 20/250 (range, 20/20 to worse than 20/800) in 6 eyes with aphakia and 20/63 (range, 20/20 to 20/200) in 26 eyes with pseudophakia. Postoperative visual axis opacification was reported in 18 of 27 eyes with pseudophakia without primary posterior capsulotomy (15-month cumulative proportion, 77%; 95% CI, 58%-92%). The cumulative proportion with strabismus was 43% (95% CI, 31%-58%) in 64 participants with ocular alignment data; exotropia was present in 14 of 23 participants (61%). The cumulative proportion with glaucoma was 6% (95% CI, 2%-16%)., Conclusions and Relevance: Trauma was not a common cause of pediatric cataract requiring surgery. For children with traumatic cataract, substantial ocular morbidity including permanent vision loss was found, and long-term eye and vision monitoring are needed for glaucoma, strabismus, and capsular opacification.

Purpose: To report the population-based birth prevalence of pseudostrabismus in the first year of life and the subsequent diagnosis of strabismus., Design: Retrospective population-based cohort study., Methods: All residents of Olmsted County, Minnesota ≤1 year old diagnosed with pseudostrabismus from January 1, 2005 through December 31, 2014, were identified using a medical record linkage system that captures virtually all medical care provided in a single Midwestern United States county population. The birth prevalence of pseudostrabismus and the subsequent diagnosis of strabismus were assessed., Results: A total of 184 infants were diagnosed with pseudostrabismus during the 10-year study period, which yielded a birth prevalence of 1 in 113 children in the first year of life. There were 165 (89.7%) infants initially diagnosed by a non-ophthalmology care provider (NOCP) and confirmed by an ophthalmologist, 13 (7.1%) patients were diagnosed by an ophthalmologist alone, and 6 (3.3%) patients were diagnosed by a NOCP alone. Eighty-eight (49.4%) infants had at least 1 follow-up visit with an ophthalmologist, and the median follow-up time from pseudostrabismus diagnosis to the last health care visit that included an eye examination was 7.7 years (interquartile range: 5.8 years). Nine (4.9%) of the 184 infants were subsequently diagnosed with strabismus at a mean age of 4.5 years (range: 1.3 to 8.7 years) (7 with esotropia and 2 with exotropia)., Conclusion: Pseudostrabismus is a relatively frequent diagnosis in the first year of life. Purpose: To evaluate outcomes of bilateral cataract surgery in infants 1 to 7 months of age performed by Infant Aphakia Treatment Study (IATS) investigators during IATS recruitment and to compare them with IATS unilateral outcomes., Design: Retrospective case series review at 10 IATS sites., Participants: The Toddler Aphakia and Pseudophakia Study (TAPS) is a registry of children treated by surgeons who participated in the IATS., Methods: Children underwent bilateral cataract surgery with or without intraocular lens (IOL) placement during IATS enrollment years 2004 through 2010., Main Outcome Measures: Visual acuity (VA), strabismus, adverse events (AEs), and reoperations., Results: One hundred seventy-eight eyes (96 children) were identified with a median age of 2.5 months (range, 1-7 months) at the time of cataract surgery. Forty-two eyes (24%) received primary IOL implantation. Median VA of the better-seeing eye at final study visit closest to 5 years of age with optotype VA testing was 0.35 logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution (logMAR; optotype equivalent, 20/45; range, 0.00-1.18 logMAR) in both aphakic and pseudophakic children. Corrected VA was excellent (<20/40) in 29% of better-seeing eyes, 15% of worse-seeing eyes. One percent showed poor acuity (≥20/200) in the better-seeing eye, 12% in the worse-seeing eye. Younger age at surgery and smaller (<9.5 mm) corneal diameter at surgery conferred an increased risk for glaucoma or glaucoma suspect designation (younger age: odds ratio [OR], 1.44; P = 0.037; and smaller cornea: OR, 3.95; P = 0.045). Adverse events also were associated with these 2 variables on multivariate analysis (younger age: OR, 1.36; P = 0.023; and smaller cornea: OR, 4.78; P = 0.057). Visual axis opacification was more common in pseudophakic (32%) than aphakic (8%) eyes (P = 0.009). Unplanned intraocular reoperation occurred in 28% of first enrolled eyes (including glaucoma surgery in 10%)., Conclusions: Visual acuity after bilateral cataract surgery in infants younger than 7 months is good, despite frequent systemic and ocular comorbidities. Although aphakia management did not affect VA outcome or AE incidence, IOL placement increased the risk of visual axis opacification. Purpose: To ascertain postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) rates in adult patients after strabismus operations and assess causes for prolonged post-anesthesia recovery., Methods: This was a retrospective observational study of consecutive adult patients who underwent strabismus operations at one institution from January 1, 2010, to May 31, 2017. The anesthetic records were abstracted and PONV rates were ascertained. On the basis of the cohort's 75th percentile of anesthesia recovery duration, patients were categorized into goal recovery (lower three quartiles) and prolonged recovery (upper quartile). Multivariable logistic regression analyses were performed to assess associations between clinical characteristics and prolonged recovery., Results: A total of 794 adult patients who underwent strabismus surgery were identified. PONV was present in 31 (3.9%) patients. The median (interquartile range) post-anesthesia recovery was 45 minutes (range: 33 to 63 minutes). Prolonged recovery was associated with long-term benzodiazepine use (odds ratio [OR]: 3.07; 95% CI [confidence interval]: 1.23 to 7.80; P = .02). Patients with prolonged recovery had higher rates of PONV (15 [7.2%] vs 16 [2.7%], P = .007), oversedation (107 [51.4%] vs 226 [38.6%], P = .001), and postoperative analgesic administration (138 [66.4%] vs 222 [37.9%], P < .001). Inverse associations were found between desflurane and oversedation (OR: 0.63; 95% CI: 0.45 to 0.86; P = .004) and between acetaminophen administration and postoperative analgesic administration (OR: 0.57; 95% CI: 0.38 to 0.86; P = .007)., Conclusions: Adult patients undergoing general anesthesia for strabismus surgery had a low PONV rate. However, the presence of PONV was associated with delayed recovery room discharge. Other factors associated with prolonged Phase I recovery were long-term benzodiazepine use and longer operations, which likely resulted in an increased need for anesthetic agents and therefore more intense postoperative sedation. Purpose: To compare 1-muscle vs 2-muscle surgery for moderate-angle hyperdeviations owing to presumed unilateral fourth nerve palsy., Design: Retrospective chart review., Methods: Seventy-three patients (aged 5-86 years) underwent either 1- or 2-muscle surgery at our institution for moderate hyperdeviation owing to presumed unilateral fourth nerve palsy, measuring 14-25 prism diopters (PD) in straight-ahead gaze at distance fixation. Six-week and 1-year motor success was defined as zero vertical deviation or 1-4 PD undercorrection at distance, overcorrection as any reversal of hypertropia, and undercorrection as >4 PD. Diplopia success was defined as no diplopia, or only rarely for distance straight ahead and reading., Results: Twenty-eight patients underwent 1-muscle surgery, and 45 patients underwent 2-muscle surgery. Motor success was similar (64% vs 67%, P > .99 at 6 weeks; 47% vs 55%, P = .8 at 1 year, n = 46), but there were more undercorrections at 6 weeks with 1-muscle surgery (36% vs 16%, P = .09) and more overcorrections at 6 weeks with 2-muscle surgery (0% vs 18%, P = .02). Diplopia success was also somewhat similar between 1- and 2-muscle surgery at 6 weeks (73% vs 60%, P = .5) and 1 year (45% vs 59%, P = .5)., Conclusion: For moderate-angle hyperdeviations owing to presumed unilateral fourth nerve palsy, there appears no clear advantage of 2-muscle surgery for motor outcomes. Purpose: To determine the effect of dilating drops on strabismus measurements in adults., Design: Prospective cohort study., Methods: Patients aged 18 and older with strabismus underwent a standard evaluation of ocular motility, stereopsis, and ocular alignment with alternate prism cover test by a certified orthoptist. After pupil dilation with 2.5% phenylephrine and 1% tropicamide, ocular alignment was remeasured in primary gaze at 6 meters, at 1/3 meter, and at 1/3 meter with a +3.00 by a second certified orthoptist, masked to the previous measurements. The primary outcome was the mean difference in the angle of horizontal and vertical deviations after dilation in prism diopters., Results: A total of 55 patients were enrolled with a variety of diagnoses. For horizontal measurements the mean change was 0.54 prism diopters at 6 meters (95% confidence interval [CI] -0.36 to 1.43, P = .24), 1.67 prism diopters at 1/3 meter (95% CI -0.19 to 3.54, P = .08), and -0.05 prism diopters at 1/3 meter with a +3.00 add (95% CI -1.65 to 1.56, P = .95). The mean change in vertical deviation was 0.18 prism diopters at 6 meters (95% CI -0.19 to 0.56, P = .34), 0.57 prism diopters at 1/3 meter (95% CI 0-1.15, P = .05), and 0.47 prism diopters at 1/3 meter with a +3.00 add (95% CI -0.23 to 1.17, P = .18)., Conclusions: Pupil dilation does not meaningfully affect vertical or horizontal strabismus measurements in adults. Purpose: To report strabismus surgery frequency and outcomes after monocular infantile cataract surgery with or without IOL implantation., Methods: The Infant Aphakia Treatment Study (IATS) is a randomized, multicenter clinical trial comparing treatment of aphakia with a primary IOL or contact lens in 114 infants with a unilateral congenital cataract. This report is a secondary outcome analysis of ocular motor data from IATS patients who underwent strabismus surgery prior to age 5 years., Results: Strabismus surgery was performed in 45 (39%) patients (contact lens group [CL], 37%; IOL group, 42% [P = 0.70]). The indications for strabismus surgery were esotropia (62%), exotropia (33%), and hypertropia (4%). Infants who underwent cataract surgery at a younger age were less likely to undergo strabismus surgery (28-48 days, 12/50 [24%]; 49-210 days, 33/64 [52%]; P = 0.0037). Of the 42 patients who underwent strabismus surgery, 14 (33%) had a postoperative distance alignment within 8 Δ of orthotropia at age 5 years. The 5-year visual acuity of children with strabismus was the same whether or not strabismus surgery had been performed (1.10 logMAR with surgery vs 1.00 without [P = 0.71])., Conclusions: In this study cohort, cataract surgery performed in the first 6 weeks of life was associated with a reduced frequency of strabismus surgery. Strabismus surgery outcomes in this population are guarded. Purpose: To evaluate sensorimotor outcomes among children in the Infant Aphakia Treatment Study (IATS)., Methods: Secondary outcome analysis was performed in this randomized, multicenter, clinical trial comparing treatment of unilateral aphakia with a primary intraocular lens (IOL) or contact lens (CL) correction. The alignment characteristics and sensory status of children through age 5 years were evaluated., Results: In the IATS study, 91 of 112 children (81%) developed strabismus through age 5 years. Of 34 infants who were orthotropic at near 12 months after cataract surgery, at age 5 years 14 (41%) were orthotropic at distance, and 15 (44%) were orthotropic at near at age 5 years without strabismus surgery. Eight of 56 children (14%) in the CL group and 13 of 56 (23%) in the IOL group were orthotropic at distance (P = 0.33) at 5 years of age and had no history of strabismus surgery. Thirteen of 48 (27%) who underwent cataract surgery prior to 49 days of age compared to 8 of 64 (13%) who had surgery after 49 days were orthotropic (P = 0.085). Median visual acuity in the operative eye was 0.4 logMAR (20/50) for children with orthotropia or microtropia (<10(Δ)) versus 1.10 logMAR (20/252) for strabismus ≥10(Δ) (P = 0.0001). Stereopsis was detected in 12 of 21 children (57%) with orthotropia versus 16 of 89 (18%) children with strabismus (P = 0.0006)., Conclusions: IOL placement does not reduce the development of strabismus after monocular congenital cataract surgery. Dissociated vertical deviation (DVD) is a slow, disconjugate hypertropic deviation of a nonfixating eye. It is usually bilateral, asymmetrical, and often associated with congenital esotropia. The deviating eye elevates, abducts, and excyclotorts. This type of strabismus is often variable, making measurement and clinical quantification difficult. Specific knowledge of the mechanisms and characteristics of the dissociated deviation are required for proper assessment and effective treatment. There is currently no consensus on the mechanisms and pathophysiology of DVD. Objective: To evaluate the characteristics of strabismus in infants who underwent cataract surgery with and without intraocular lens (IOL) implantation., Design: Secondary outcome analysis in a prospective, randomized clinical trial., Participants: The Infant Aphakia Treatment Study is a randomized, multicenter (n = 12), clinical trial comparing treatment of aphakia with a primary IOL or contact lens in 114 infants with a unilateral congenital cataract., Intervention: Infants underwent cataract surgery with or without placement of an IOL., Main Outcome Measures: The proportion of patients in whom strabismus developed during the first 12 months of follow-up was calculated using the life-table method and was compared across treatment groups and age strata using a log-rank test., Results: Strabismus developed within the first 12 months of follow-up in 38 pseudophakic infants (life-table estimate, 66.7%) and 42 infants (life-table estimate, 74.5%) treated with contact lenses (P = 0.59). The younger cohort (<49 days) at the time of surgery demonstrated less strabismus (29 of 50; life-table estimate, 58.0%) than the older cohort (≥ 49 days; 51 of 64; life-table estimate, 80.0%; P<0.01)., Conclusions: Intraocular lens placement does not prevent the early development of strabismus after congenital cataract surgery. This article presents the results of a retrospective analysis of anesthesia care and perioperative outcomes in children up to 2 years of age who underwent strabismus surgery during a five-year period at the University of Minnesota Amplatz Children's Hospital. We reviewed the charts of 74 children to determine perioperative outcomes--namely discomfort, emergence agitation/delirium, and postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV).We found that although PONV was not an issue in this age group, as it was with older children, discomfort and emergence agitation/delirium do need to be considered during their care.

Background: Peters anomaly is a rare form of anterior segment dysgenesis in which abnormal cleavage of the anterior chamber occurs at the end of the third week of gestation. We examined the prevalence of strabismus and amblyopia and analyzed predictive factors for their development, as well as the visual outcome and associated anomalies in patients with bilateral Peters anomaly., Methods: Using a retrospective review, we identified 25 consecutive patients with bilateral Peters anomaly who were observed between August 1995 and February 2005. Ocular structural and systemic anomalies, amblyopia therapy, visual acuity, and binocular alignment at last visit were recorded. Fisher's exact test was used to identify any association between defined predictive factors and the development of strabismus., Results: Mean follow-up time was 5.1 year (range, 0.5-21 years). Median age at presentation was 2.5 months (range, 1 day to 13 years). Penetrating keratoplasties were performed on 34 eyes in 20 patients. Final best-corrected visual acuity ranged from 20/25 to no light perception. Thirteen of 18 patients with recorded motility (72%) developed strabismus: esotropia (n = 7), exotropia (n = 5), and variable (n = 1); one also had dissociated vertical deviation. Patients with equal vision were either orthophoric (n = 4) or had intermittent esotropia (n = 1), whereas strabismus occurred in 100% of patients whose vision was asymmetric by more than 1.5 octaves. Asymmetric vision was the only statistically significant predictive factor for the development of strabismus (P = 0.002). Amblyopia treatment resulted in improved vision in 3 of 5 patients., Conclusion: Strabismus occurs frequently in bilateral Peters anomaly. Asymmetric vision, (because of ocular structural anomalies) postoperative complications, and amblyopia may predispose to strabismus. Despite ocular structural limitations, amblyopia therapy is recommended in the aggressive rehabilitation of these eyes.

Purpose: This study analyzes the outcomes after unilateral inferior oblique anterior transposition (IOAT) for manifest dissociated vertical deviation (DVD)., Methods: A retrospective chart review was conducted for all patients who had unilateral or markedly asymmetric DVD, ipsilateral overaction of the inferior oblique muscle, lack of alternating fixation, and underwent unilateral IOAT surgery between March 1997 and March 2001. In each case, the bunched inferior oblique muscle was anteriorly transposed to the lateral edge of the insertion of the inferior rectus muscle. The primary outcome variable was change in DVD. Secondary outcome variables included inferior oblique muscle action, graded from -4 to +4, and vertical deviation in primary gaze., Results: Ten consecutive patients met the inclusion criteria. Median age at the time of surgery was 14 years (range, 2 to 41 years.) Mean follow-up was 25 months (range, 6 to 60 months). Ipsilateral DVD in primary position decreased from a mean of 20.2 prism diopters (PD) (range, 14 to 33 PD) to 3.7 PD (range, 0 to 9 PD) (t test, P <.001). Nine (90%) of the patients had an excellent postoperative result (residual DVD of 0 to 4 PD) and one (10%) had a good result (5 to 9 PD). Inferior oblique overaction was eliminated in all patients. Mean inferior oblique muscle action decreased from +2.4 to -1.3. Three patients developed a transient or permanent 4 to 5 PD postoperative ipsilateral hypotropia in primary position. Dissociated vertical deviation in the fellow eye did not develop, or if present preoperatively, did not increase., Conclusions: Unilateral IOAT is an effective treatment for unilateral or markedly asymmetric DVD in patients with a strong, contralateral fixation preference. This surgery reduces inferior oblique overaction but may cause an ipsilateral hypotropia.

Purpose: To quantify the anterior ciliary arteries that accompany horizontal rectus muscles and to correlate these findings with analysis of arterial cross-sectional area in distal tendons of these muscles. Patients and Methods: In 31 consecutive patients, previously unoperated horizontal rectus muscles were photographed intraoperatively. Major and minor anterior ciliary arteries (ACAs) were counted from the photographs by a masked independent observer and compared between medial and lateral rectus muscles. Cross sections from medial and lateral rectus muscle resection specimens were stained for elastin to quantify arterial volume in the distal tendons. Results: Twenty lateral and 22 medial rectus muscles from 31 patients were included. There was no significant difference in the mean number of major anterior ciliary arteries between lateral rectus muscles (2.25 ± 0.79, range 1-4) and medial rectus muscles (2.05 ± 0.65, range 1-3) (p = 0.46). The mean number of minor anterior ciliary arteries was 6.7 in both medial and lateral rectus muscles (p = 0.97). Resected rectus muscle tendons showed no significant difference between lateral and medial rectus muscles for arterial vessel number or cross-sectional area. Conclusions: These results show the contribution from the lateral rectus muscle to the anterior segment circulation may be more robust than is commonly taught. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
