This article explores the subcultural discourse within Andrés Caicedo's works, primarily focusing on the novel ¡Que viva la Música! and the short story "El atravesado". Through the application of Williams' "structure of feeling" and subcultural theory, informed by Hebdige, it fills a significant gap by examining the various notable practices of the depicted subcultures. It uncovers their transformative potential in recontextualizing meaning and challenging dominant social norms, highlighting the influence of collective experiences and a transcendent sensibility that prioritizes affect over intellect. This research represents an initial step towards a deeper understanding of Caicedo's writings within the subcultural framework. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The paper at hand interrogates the queer temporal politics of "houses" in the ballroom and voguing scene. Houses constitute the axiomatic unit of this community marked by racial and sexual marginalisation and as such create alternative familial relations between members in response to rejections from the biological family and society in general. Mirroring the traditional family institution, vogue houses not only become a source of protection, care, trust and knowledge; their very structure, I argue, induces a queer repro-generational time. Countering the sequential heteronormative time of lifetime milestones and age-fitting achievements, the queer time of voguing is a temporal disidentification that jumbles around and constructively misappropriates generational and reproductive imperatives. In doing this, the politics of voguing opens the horizon of possible futures: it is a spark of embodied resistance with a queer utopian imaginary. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

SOCIALIZATION , *SUBCULTURES , *SOCIAL networks , *SOCIAL support , *YOUTH culture , *TRIBES - Abstract
The objective of this study was to determine the socialization structure of a subculture or urban tribe, by measuring the structural indicators of its social network and identifying sub-groupings. Eleven members of the rock subculture were evaluated through the Arizona Social Support Interview Schedule (ASSIS). The data was processed using the social network analysis (SNA) with the software Ucinet, and networks graphs were created with NetDraw. It was possible to identify moderate levels of structural indicators in which groupings of large numbers of actors under the criterion of attraction by similarity was significant. Finally, there were few subgroups within the network, which indicates that the subculture is a social unit where integration is achieved by close ties among its members. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

PARKOUR ,YOUTH policy ,PHYSICAL education ,PHYSICAL activity ,SUBCULTURES ,WELL-being - Abstract
In this article we consider the development of parkour in the South of England and its use in public policy debates and initiatives around youth, physical activity and risk. Based on in-depth qualitative interviews with participants and those involved in the development of parkour in education, sport policy and community-based partnerships, we explore the potential of parkour to engage communities, particularly those traditionally excluded from mainstream sport and physical education provision. We discuss how the perceived success of parkour in these different contexts is related to the culture and ethos of the activity that is more inclusive, anticompetitive and less rule-bound than most traditional sports, and to its ability to provide managed risk-taking. More broadly, the article highlights the emergence of lifestyle sports as tools for policymakers and the potential role these nontraditional, non-institutionalized lifestyle sports can make in terms of encouraging youth engagement, physical health and well-being. Our article therefore contributes to ongoing debates about the (in)ability of traditional sports to meet government targets for sport and physical activity participation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

FASHION , *JAPANESE people , *SOCIAL interaction , *SOCIAL structure , *CONSUMER preferences , *CONSUMPTION (Economics) , *SUBCULTURES , *SOCIAL segmentation , *MARKET segmentation - Abstract
This study is a macro-sociological analysis of the social organization of Japanese street fashion and a micro-interactionist analysis of teen consumers who form various subcultures. These subcultures directly and indirectly dictate fashion trends. The present study shows the interdependence in the production process of fashion between institutions within the industries and the Japanese teens. Street fashion in the fashionable districts of Tokyo, such as Harajuku and Shibuya, is independent of any mainstream fashion system and goes beyond the conventional model of fashion business with different marketing strategies and occupational categories. This article shows that fashion is no longer controlled or guided by professionally trained designers but by the teens who have become the producers of fashion. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article presents the results of research conducted in the Orinoco region of Colombia. This research focuses on the processes of cultural change produced by the advent of Internet and social media. Particularly, this article aims at understanding how these changes in the cultural landscape of peripheral regions modify the psychological processes associated to identity development. In order to investigate this problem, 71 semistructured interviews were conducted in three small cities of the Orinoco region in Colombia. Results show that Internet is producing a deep transformation in the cultural landscape of frontier territories, allowing a growing La Frontera Digital 3 contact with cultural objects external to the local culture. Results show also that this contact is related mainly with music-related cultural products. This contact has allowed young people to come in contact with new aesthetic experiences, particularly, with tendencies not transmitted by traditional mainstream media (e.g., radio, tv). Contrary to popular expectations, these changes, at least for the moment, have not produced a decrease in the contact and appreciation of local culture (e.g., llanero music –a type of music from the Orinoco region-). All these facts indicate that Internet is allowing the advent of hybrid cultural experiences in which people has to negotiate local and global tendencies, as well as virtual and the physical spaces.
